haikyuu airport headcanons bc im in an airport. no particular order. shipping involved.
- Daichi has never missed a flight and somehow everyone manages to make fun of him for this. never forgets to pack anything. always finds his gate on time. "lmao loser," Suga says, missing 2 bags and lost as fuck across the airport. he will not make his flight.
- Hinata and Kageyama navigating an airport is nearly a crisis. They can never agree on the right way to go and especially during layovers will often end up outside of security. The first time they travel with Tsukki + Yama as a group it's like a goddamn miracle because they dont need to rush and everything goes smoothly.
- on that topic, Tsukki and Yamaguchi have travel down to a science. these bitches have checklists and schedules and just get in and out. Tsukki keeps the boarding passes and Yamaguchi counts the bags and they split snacks on the plane and just nail the whole affair
- Noya and Asahi are the most experienced travelers and have been to so many airports and you'd think this makes them good at airports and it does not
- Ushijima has never gotten through security without being searched.
- Oikawa likes airports an unreasonable amount. Bitch thrives in liminal spaces. "Lets go check out which stores are open," he says, as Iwaizumi begs him to let him sit down and nap during their layover
- Kenma has airport anxiety. "We're going to miss our flight. What if our gate changes?" What if there's a delay?" He does not like putting his schedule into the hands of an Airline. Rightfully so, he loses his luggage an obscene amount.
- Kageyama and Hinata fighting and causing a ruckus in the airport and security has to come over to talk to them
- Tendou and Ushijima are generally really prepared and on top of things, but they just seem to have the worst luck. They got stranded at an airport during a layover for like 14 hours and went through every stage of grief. It doesnt help that Ushijima is really practical and good at accepting circumstances ("I'll just sit here and wait") but Tendou is highly emotional ("I'm going to eat the next airline associate that tries to talk to me.")
- Daichi is often seen standing alone in airports. This is because no matter who he's traveling with, he's probably waiting for them to catch up.
- Aran thought he was a good and functional adult until he saw Kita's itinerary for their travel plans and how neurotic he was about making sure everything on time. Kita will pre-measure and weigh all luggage to know exactly whats going on. Looking at airport layouts days before to memorize what needs to be done.
- Atsumu and Osamu have never made a flight on time. The best they can hope for is sprinting across the airport at full-tilt. This is a common occurance.
- Oikawa makes friends wherever he goes so he doesnt mind long layovers, he'll just sit and chat with whoever is around to pass the time, but one time he did leave with a group to check out a store without saying anything and Iwaizumi was lost for 30 minutes
- Asahi has so much anxiety with airports. Too many people. Too many deadlines. Bad vibes. One time a guy in an airport gave him incorrect directions to a gate and he missed his flight and he has never recovered.
- Kuroo "Yeah we have tons of time" Tetsurou is a menace to airport staff and has never budgeted enough time.
- Tsukki is a master at packing efficiently and this is exclusively due to wanting to avoid others complaining. He can pull basically anything out of his carry-on to prevent whining on a 5 hour flight. Yamaguchi uses him like a vending machine.
- Daichi once got mistaken for an airline worker and ended up with a whole group of people he was helping find their gates
- Bokuto loves traveling and flying. He finds it so fun and exciting. This is probably why Akaashi hates traveling and flying.
- Suga secretly likes layovers because he secretly hates planes and cannot stand sitting still for that long. He always pretends it such a hassle to have to wait but its the best part of the travel day when he gets to buy himself a muffin and bother Daichi for entertainment.
- Ushijima, Daichi, Kenma, and Asahi are all team "No PDA in an Airport!!!!!" whereas Tendou, Suga, Kuroo and Noya are all team "We have 2 hours to kill let me make out with you!!!!"
- Yamaguchi has sooooooo many reward points. Tsukishima doesnt even know what he's doing to get them, he's just a master of good deals and specials.
- Mile High Club Members: Iwaoi, Bokuaka, Ushiten, and Asanoya
- Wannabe Mile High Club Members who cannot convince their boyfriends it'll be okay: Suga
- Wannabe Mile High Club Members that will NOT admit they think about it: Yamaguchi, Hinata, Kageyama, Aran
... well im boarding soon so thanks for reading ig
#i like airports tbh#haikyuu#haikyuu ships#haikyuu memes#daisuga#ushiten#iwaoi#tsukkiyama#kagehina#bokuaka#asanoya

Cat-astrophe - Min Yoongi / Suga
Summary: Your pet cat keeps going to your neighbor’s apartment and it’s a problem.
Genre/tags: Fluff-ish, strangers to ???, minor mention of anxiety.
Pairing: Yoongi x she/her reader
a/n: cus we're all soft for long haired Yoongi, right? hehe
It had been officially a month since you had moved to a new apartment place. You loved the new place honestly. It was cozy and the neighborhood looked nice. There were many convenience store nearby and the street was always still busy until late at night, making you feel a little bit of secure when coming home late.
While the place was nice it had one tiny downside. It was rather on the far side from your workplace. It took you an hour of bus ride just to get home from the office, so some days could be more tiring than others. And today was one of those tiring days.
It was around nine at night on a Monday. Having to work overtime for the deadline and missed the bus, really dreaded you out. You were both tired and hungry, arriving home only to find that your pet cat was missing. It really just was not your day.
To say you were panicking would be a bit of an understatement. Cookie was barely a four month-old cat and had a very tiny body. All the negative possibilities start filling your head and you were horrified by all of them. Not to mention how it was basically forbidden to bring pets in the apartment complex. It was one of the policies but you couldn't help it since Cookie was a rescue.
When you arrived at your apartment lobby with a cat snack on your hand, there wasn’t that many people there. You walked past a guy by the front desk, who had medium-length black locks and fair skin, with headphones dangling on his neck. You began to call your pet’s name as soon as you were outside the lobby, but suddenly you felt a light tap on your shoulder.
“Are you looking for a small black Bombay cat?” It was the same guy who just walked past you.
“Oh my god, I am! Have you seen him???” You said, your voice was a little bit shaky.
“He’s in my place, I’m on the seventh.”
“Oh, me too!”
“I know.”
“Oh.” You said, surprised at how stoic he sounded saying that, but didn’t further question him on it. “I’m so sorry for bothering you, can I go get him now?”
“Sure, I was just gonna go up as well.”
When you both entered the elevator, you made a mental note to ask his name or at least introduce yourself. He was a neighbor after all. It was pretty silent inside the lift and you just hoped he didn’t hear your stomach rumbling ever so slightly. You took a deep breath, bearing the hunger for a little while.
When the elevator door opened you followed him from behind as he led you to his door. When he stopped at his front door, your eyes were widened in shock.
“You live next to me?!”
“Yeah.” He said casually and unlocked the door. "I've seen you multiple times."
You chose to not further question and followed him but stopped when you had only took two steps in, because technically, the homeowner had not really officially permit you to come in. The guy seemed to notice how you just stood awkwardly and looked back.
“You can sit down for a sec, I’ll go get him.”
“Oh, right… yeah. Thank you.” You said awkwardly and walked to sit on his couch.
A few seconds later the man came back with your cat in his embrace. Cookie was clinging on his tshirt before he tugged him and gave him onto your lap.
“Cookie!” You called, almost teary.
“I think he jumped from your balcony to mine. Make sure to close your balcony door next time.”
“Thank you so much, I owe you… uh…”
“Yoongi.”
“Thank you, Yoongi.” You repeated and introduced yourself in return. “I’m Y/N, and if you ever need anything please let me now.” You said as you stood up, already making your way out.
“Also, thank you for not reporting it…”
“No problem.” Was all the guy said and by this point you figured he was not much of a talker.
You bid your goodbye to your neighbor, which only gained a small nod before he closed the door on you. You walked to your door and let Cookie down as soon as you got inside. Sighing deeply, you began to feel your stomach rumble again, this time it rumbled quite loudly. Your feet were aching from standing on the bus and now your body finally got on how tired you were.
Cookie meowed and immediately went to his cat bed and laid down. You sighed and smiled at the small creature.
“You little rascal… you’re lucky I love you.”
You then went to your kitchen to cook yourself some instant ramen.
The next day you went to work and had to take another overtime. Unfortunately you had to for the rest of the week until your current project was done. It was exhausting but you had to make it and mostly thinking about the bonus pay from it helped quite a bit. You spent the next few days the same, repeating the schedules, and the tiring work.
It was almost ten at night that you arrived home and found out Cookie had gone missing again. For some reason your first instinct was to knock on your next door, in hope the neighbor who once helped you, could lend you a hand again, and hoping maybe Cookie just ran to his place again instead of being gone somewhere where it wasn't safe for him.
You knocked on the door and didn’t get immediate answer. You waited for what felt like five minutes, before the door opened and you were greeted with the sight of your neighbor with wet hair. He had a small white towel around his neck and the hoop earring that you saw him with before was absent. His skin looked glowing, you probably needed to ask about his skin care routine later.
“So sorry to interrupt you, I was wondering if Cookie might have gone to your place again?”
“He’s right there on the couch.” He casually pointed. His expression was straight and had you wondering if he did not mind it, bothered, or simply didn’t care.
You slowly walked to approach your cat and bent down to its level. “Cookie, you need to stop this…” You tapped the cat's nose, as if scolding the poor cat would do anything.
“He jumped to my balcony again, did you forget to close the door?”
“But I made sure to close it this morning…” You looked at your neighbor, who walked closer to inspect the cat.
“I think he knows how to turn door knobs, since he’s quite a jumper. You need to lock the door.”
“I can’t believe this little demon…” You sighed, fingers still stroking the purring cat.
“He’s… alright.”
You were slightly taken aback by the response and looked up to him, but much to your disappointment, his expression still looked the same. You were about to get up and excuse yourself, but you notice a small steel bowl under his dining table, half full with what you assumed to be cat milk (I mean, it would be weird if it was his, duh!).
“You also have a cat?”
His eyes followed yours. “Oh, that. I got it the first time Cookie came here, I figured he must be thirsty since he came in around noon time.”
“That’s… that’s very nice of you.” You looked at him and smiled. Somehow him addressing your cat by his name sounded lovely.
“You can have the rest of the milk if you want, since you’ve figured out how he escaped and all…”
“It’s okay, you can keep it! Just in case he ran into you again…” You chuckled but then stopped after realizing how that just sounded like you did not mind troubling him with your cat continuously. “I mean… I’m sorry, I’ll make sure he’ll never escape again.”
“It’s alright, I’ll keep the milk for now.” He paused for a second, rubbing the back of his neck. “Just in case.”
You looked at your neighbor and couldn’t help but to feel all warm inside. He seemed like a nice person and from the looks of it he also liked your cat.
“Thank you so much, Yoongi. I’ll be taking this little guy here then...” You smiled at him and stood up with Cookie in your arms.
“I got some dim sum…”
You looked at the guy questioningly.
“Do you maybe want some?”
“That’d be too much, it’s okay, you go ahead and eat.” You politely declined. Although you were hungry, you could bring yourself to bother your neighbor any more than what you had done.
“Have you eaten?”
“Y-yeah?” You asked, afraid you heard it wrong.
“Have you eaten?” He repeated. “If not, then I insist you take some.”
“I…” You wanted to lie, but at this point it would come off as rude if you refuse him again. “I actually haven’t. Thank you very much though, I feel so bad that you’re being this nice to me.”
“You can just eat them here.”
“I don’t wanna disturb—“ You were awkwardly cut by the sound of your stomach rumbling.
“You’re not disturbing me.” He cleared his throat and looked away.
That was embarrassing.
And that was how you ended up sitting down on your neighbor’s dining table, eating dim sums.
In silence.
This Yoongi guy really did not like conversation it seemed. He was sitting down on his couch and had turned the TV on. The volume was on but not quite loudly, and Cookie was on his lap, sleeping as he occasionally stroked the cat’s head softly. Funny that somehow you could see some resemblance of Yoongi with your cat.
“So… how long have you lived here?” You bit your bottom lip as you waited for his answer. You kind of regretted asking as soon as the words came out from your mouth, afraid it would be awkward.
“Around ten months or so.” He paused. “No, I think it’s been almost a year cause I spent two months overseas.”
“Really? What were you doing overseas?” You regretted asking again. Looking at how quiet Yoongi was, you didn’t want to ask too much or indulge into too much conversation, afraid it would be too much for him.
But much to your surprise, he answered. “I’m a producer. I was working for this artist and all the work had to be done in America.”
“Wow, that sounds amazing!” You said. At this point you no longer were sitting facing the table, but to him. “Who was the artist?”
“Uh… Halsey.” He replied while looking at the TV screen, seemingly to avoid your stare.
“Oh my god???” You gasped. “That’s incredible! So you’re like crazy talented?!”
“I’m alright…”
“You should show me some of your work someday!” You said enthusiastically. When Yoongi did not reply to it and stayed silent, you cursed yourself internally. “I mean compared to what I do that’s like really amazing.” You chuckled nervously.
“I’m sure you’re great at what you do.” He looked at you, a small smile was on his lips.
You realized it was the first time you saw him smile and it made your heart raced rather faster than usual. It was the first time you saw him with facial expression other than his usual poker face.
“I’m just a normal product designer at a very normal company.” You shrugged.
“Don’t downplay yourself like that. You work very hard.”
“Thanks…” You replied shyly.
After finishing your food, you got up and went to wash the dishes, which immediately got stopped by the homeowner. He politely told you to go back home and rest. Which again, you could not thank him more for.
You took your pet in your arms and said your goodbyes to your neighbor. Right when you arrived back in your place you came to realize something. Yoongi did not eat with you and there was only one portion of the food. While it could just meant he had already eaten beforehand, you felt giddy, thinking about another possibility. Was this a crush you sense forming? Frankly speaking, you could not care less. You were welcoming the possibility with open arms.
—
Friday finally came and you were ready to take it in. The days of working with your company project was going to an end, which meant you no longer need to work overtime after this. The thought of it put you in a very good mood.
This time right after arriving home, you walked to a nearby chicken restaurant and grab some not only for you, but also for your neighbor. You wanted to repay his kindness the past few days. After changing into some comfortable clothes, not to mention the multiple times you had to re-check the outfit in the mirror for some reason, you took your cat in your left hand and the food in the other. You knocked on your neighbor’s door hoping he was home.
And he was. You were greeted with his silence but he opened the door wider as soon as he saw your face without question. One thing that caught your eyes though was how he was dressed up like he was ready for a night out. He wasn’t in his usual sweatpants and baggy t-shirt, but instead in a ripped wide legged jeans and a light blue shirt, unbuttoned, with a plain white tee underneath. He looked handsome. And here you were, in your so-called comfy outfit that you were starting to regret.
“Before you ask, no, Cookie’s right here.” You smiled awkwardly as you raised the small cat in your hand for him to see. “I’m just here to drop by some chicken I got for you… as a thanks for your help these past few days.” You handed the plastic of food to him. “Alright, that’s all…”
He took the food from you hesitantly. “You don’t wanna come in?”
“Aren’t you going out or something?”
“I was… but you are here.” He said, sounding unsure.
“That’s ridiculous, why would I stop you from going out?”
“I was gonna go to your place…”
Your mouth formed a small O shape, unable to form a word. He was going to your place? But what for??? The butterflies in your stomach were having a blast.
“But you’re all dressed up…”
“I was gonna change back.” He sighed, running his hand through his hair, which made you gulped at the sight. “I knew this was a bad idea I shouldn't have listened to Hoseok—”
You stopped his rambling. “What do you mean?”
“I was gonna ask you if you wanted to go eat together at that one Chicken restaurant nearby…”
“Oh.” You widened your eyes.
“Yeah.” He looked at you, biting his cheek in annoyance.
“This is awkward.” You chuckled.
“Whatever, just… just come in first.”
You saw Yoongi putting the plastic of food on his table. You offered help after putting down your cat on his couch and walked to his direction. Both of you plated the food in comfortable silence, it felt oddly domestic and you liked it. At this point you were used to him being not talkative and see it as his charm.
After you took the plates to the living room, Yoongi suddenly came back with cans of beers and soju in his hands.
“We’re drinking?” You said with an amused grin.
“You can drink, right?”
“Sure, but can you?” You playfully eyed him.
“Don’t challenge me.”
You could see how he was trying to hide his smile, and it brought colors to your cheeks.
—
You did not know how you got in this situation. Five episodes in randomly rewatching Avatar The Last Airbender and you both were drunk. You were resting your head on his shoulder as you watch the screen. It seemed like the booze gave you confidence, or made you shameless, or both, but the guy didn’t complain so it could be a sign of a good thing. While you could see Yoongi holding his alcohol better than you, he was not completely sober either.
It was at this very moment where you saw things through a pink tinted lense. Had Yoongi’s hair always looked that soft? Had he always looked this handsome? You began to question things you should not be questioning.
“Why didn’t you change your clothes?” You randomly asked.
“Do I look bad?” He replied, eyes still on the screen, hands stroking the sleeping cat on his lap.
"Of course not, I just feel severely underdressed now..." You chuckled.
He eyed you from top to bottom, which made you nervous, but he shrugged, seemingly to not have any problem with your clothes.
“You look… handsome.”
“You think I look handsome?” He suddenly moved to face you, making you move to look at him as well. The tone of his voice sounded like he was teasing more than asking a question.
You nodded and bit your lips. “And you kinda look like Cookie.” You giggled.
He raised one of his eyebrows, clearly not satisfied with your answer.
“Your eyes…” You began to ramble. “They look just like Cookie’s, and when you look annoyed, or just your plain expression… you look like a cute cat.”
“Really…” Yoongi hummed.
“Yup!” You giggled like an idiot.
You failed to notice how at this point, Yoongi has put Cookie down from his lap to the floor. His face only inches away from you as you kept rambling.
“Your hair look so soft… like a cat’s fur.” You reached your hands closer to his hair, but stopped mid-way, scared he’d get uncomfortable.
Yoongi surprised you again by grabbing both of your wrist and putting your hands on his hair, letting you stroke his head slowly. You saw his expression softened and as you kept playing with his hair, he closed his eyes. You swore you heard him purr.
“Pretty.” You said with a drunk smile.
“Hmm. Pretty.” He mirrored.
“Okay, call me crazy but why do I kinda wanna kiss you right now.” You said, totally losing the battle with your common sense.
Yoongi chuckled. “You’re crazy.” He ran his fingers through his hair, looking to the right. “I like it.”
—
To be frank, you could not recall what happened after. You recalled some bits of karakoe-ing? Singing random PSY songs in your broken Korean using a bottle of whiskey as your mic. That was probably all? You couldn’t think while the throbbing headache was present in the room with you.
So why were you now in a bed that was not yours, wearing a t-shirt that was too big for you and was clearly not yours, also for heaven’s sake, WHY IS YOONGI SLEEPING NEXT TO ME???
You froze. Did you??? There was no way. Sure you found him attractive and all, and you definitely had this huge crush on him, but you couldn’t just sleep with a guy you barely knew. Besides your headache, your body didn’t feel any pain, so that was probably a good sign. What if he was just that gentle? Okay, you need to stop thinking at once before you started a whole fiction about you and Yoongi in your head.
When you turned your back, you felt the other side of the bed shifted as well.
“You’re up?” He asked with a raspy voice.
“Yeah.” You said, still back-facing him. “We didn’t… you know…”
“No, we didn’t.”
“Oh, okay good.”
Yoongi did not answered to that, but instead you felt him scooting closer.
“I’m sorry, this isn’t probably how you’d wanna spend your weekend.” You chuckled.
Your breath hitched when you felt a hand over your waist. “Is this okay?” He suddenly stopped when your body tensed at his touch.
You nodded, heart beating too loudly for you to form any sentence.
“This is nice.” He said, resting his forehead on your back.
When you stayed silent, he took your hand and turned you over to face him. Heat immediately took over your body as soon as your eyes meet. You noticed he was back in his usual home attire, oversized tee and sweatpants. His hair was messy, but it seemed like universe had its favorite cause he still looked good.
“You know, I haven’t had good sleep in… weeks.”
You were surprised by his sudden confession.
“It’s half past eleven now, and it’s not even ten minutes after I woke up…” He tittered. “My anxiety has been getting worse the past month and out of nowhere a black cat suddenly jumped to my balcony, meowing non-stop while I was working.”
You looked at him, letting him finish his talk. This was the most words you had ever heard coming out of Yoongi’s mouth and it made your heart flutter.
“I haven’t been caring. I’ve stopped caring, for a while now. Seeing you care so much for such a small creature… I don’t know, it feels good. It makes me wanna care.”
“Yoongi…” You cooed, caressing his cheek. "It's not true, all you have been since I first met you until this moment, was caring."
"I'm sorry if it feels like it came out of nowhere but I feel at home with you and I don’t know why...” He tucked a strand of hair behind your ear. “Yet, at least.”
“I… like this too. A lot actually.” You said shyly.
“I would like to get to know you more if you’d like.” He was being honest and exactly to the point, no flirty bullshit to spice his sentences.
“I’d love that...”
Suddenly you heard a low meow from under the bed and Cookie jumped into the bed, joining you two. Apparently his bedroom door was left opened and none of you noticed how Cookie had entered. You giggled and he smiled as well, the widest smile and the most genuine you had ever seen from him, as he took the cat and cuddled both of you close.
"I think it's about time you give me your number..." You squinted at him playfully. "You know, so we don't repeat the whole chicken restaurant accident again?"
“Okay, but promise me first you won’t apologize again after kissing me.” He chuckled.
“EXCUSE ME WHAT???”
—
“Okay, call me crazy but why do I kinda wanna kiss you right now.” You said, totally losing the battle with your common sense.
Yoongi laughed. “You’re crazy.” He ran his fingers through his hair, looking to the right. “I like it.”
“I can be crazier if you open that whiskey.” You wiggled your eyebrows.
Yoongi just shook his head, smiling at your silliness. He stood up and went to grab his Hibiki anyway, which earned a shout of celebration from you.
Things escalated quickly after opening the bottle. Somehow you were starting a drunk karaoke session which followed by many dance breaks. You ended up crying when a sad song randomly came up in the playlist and when Yoongi asked why, you replied. You replied with your lips on his.
In your head it just made sense. It was his lips’ fault for looking so juicy. Yeah, totally his fault for looking so hot that it was driving you insane.
None of you moved and it only lasted seconds before your mood turned sour again.
“I’m so sorry I didn’t mean…” You pushed him gently. “Oh my god, you’re so gonna hate me!!!”
“Hey, calm down…“
You started to panic, tears now forming in your eyes again. “Please don’t hate me, I just wanted to kiss you…” You cried.
“Okay, I think that’s enough drinking—“
And you puked.
Yes, Yoongi did see your lilac colored bra when he helped you change into his t-shirt. But that’s a secret between him and little Cookie.
Thank you for reading! 💎

— "best brother ever!" tiktok trend with hq men
≪ back to fics masterlist
hq character x gn!reader
a/n: just some more crack filled headcanons while i churn out the rest of the requests 🫡 saw a vid of someone doing this and i was thinking of how the hq characters would react to it LOL hope you enjoyy
cw: fluff, humour, swearing oops, mild suggestiveness towards the end ?
The trend:
"Babe, come 'ere!"
Curious, your boyfriend stepped into the living room where you had your camera set up on a tripod pointing towards you. When he reached your side, you pointed at the camera and explained, "We're gonna do a tiktok trend so just stand here, okay?"
He nodded, before smiling a little and waving at the camera.
Grabbing onto his waist protectively, you spoke to the camera. "If you wanna get to him, you're gonna have to get through me first."
Then you leaned up and kissed him on the lips. He smiled into the kiss, happily kissing you back. Pulling away, you gave him a side hug and turned to the camera, dropping the bomb with a shit eating grin on your face.
"Best brother ever!!"
The reaction:
atsumu and oikawa would scream. and i mean scream. like they're in a horror movie or smth "AYO WHAT THE FUCK???" with all the dramatic facial expressions and hand gestures like bro shut up my eardrums are gonna explode 💀
tanaka, nishinoya and bokuto are the slow processors. they'd just keep smiling and would only get it right before you stop the video. he's HORRIFIED and whipping his head at you like "WHAT DID YOU SAYYY" you cannot stop laughing and poor guy's probably traumatised.
kageyama, hinata and ushijima would be confused. like "why'd you say that? i'm not your brother" or even better, "you don't have a brother" and you'll be looking at the camera like jim from the office like does he not get it ?? 😭💀
akaashi and shirabu would stand there staring at you with the most incredulous look on his face. he'd lowkey be judging you and be like "wHat..." sorry babe it's just a prank 🥰
semi would choke on his laughter and shove you away saying stfu but he'd be laughing about it and he'd probably help you post it afterwards. this man is so... HAHAHAHA i love him 😂
sakusa would also shove you away saying stfu but he's lunging to grab the phone so you can't post it (you'll still post it anyway LOL)
tsukki is all three of the above. would look at you with the MOST JUDGY face on earth before shoving you out of the camera frame saying stfu
kenma, osamu and suna would have the most DISGUSTED look on his face and you can't help but laugh at how his face is scrunched up and pinched together
kita would have the most disappointed look on his face like you'd honestly regret doing the tiktok (it's still funny tho. 10/10 would post)
iwaizumi would freeze, slowly turn to you and stare at you with the same face he made when oikawa asked him "iwa-chan, are you my mom?" HAHAHAHSJHJVF GOODBYE
daichi and suga would be like "bruh". nothing else. just pure "bruh" 😐
matsukawa, hanamaki and kuroo WOULD GO ALONG WITH IT HAHAHAHA "yeah best lil sis/bro ever" AND THEN KISS YOU ON CAMERA AGAIN, EVEN DEEPER THIS TIME 💀 then you'd collapse laughing together
tendō would turn his head, look at you with a loving smile and say "what the fuck did you just say?"
asahi would not know how to respond so he's just standing there looking between you and the camera like "huh..."
futakuchi "this ain't alabama, babe..."
extra thoughts!
after you record all that, iwaizumi and akaashi (he a freaky one 👀) will smirk, smack ur ass and say "best little sibling ever" before kissing u deep 🫶 do what you will with that information
also if tsukki was in a good mood, he'd prolly play along but in the most sarcastic way possible HAHAHA like "yeah, best little sibling ever" before kissing you out of frame lol

Board game nights | Sawamura Daichi, Azumane Asahi & Sugawara Koushi
Commissioned by @ticklee-sunshine
A/N: I hoooope you enjoy thiiis Suuunshiiiine 💞 as always, I apologize profusely for the delay *sobs* I hope you like it! It was fun to write these cuties. This is based on this post, sent by Sunshine hehe ❤️
Summary: Ah, nothing like enjoying a night with your lifelong friends and... a stupid board game.
Adult life was difficult, but exciting at the same time. Getting a job came with more responsibilities than just doing homework and playing volleyball, but it was always rewarding. However, adult life was also a very busy life; a kind of balance between work, relaxation, family and friends, but Daichi had become very accustomed to it. He loved his job and he thought that he had a very nice grip of things in general, but he couldn't lie, many times he was so tired that he wished he could stay in bed for five days straight.
When all his activities began to take their toll on him, he knew perfectly well that there were two people who were there for him and, although it was a little difficult for one of them to come from Tokyo to Miyagi, they always managed to meet up and spend time together.
It was just one of those days. Daichi, Asahi, and Suga had made plans to spend Friday night together at Suga's house. His apartment was always so cozy and for some reason, Daichi thought it always smelled like cookies. The three of them had eaten dinner and had a couple of cans of beer on them, just enough to make their heads feel just a little light.
They spent much of the night reminiscing and laughing at not only themselves, but also their little and, in Suga's words, adorable kohais. Daichi soon began to feel the tiredness in his shoulders disappear and the stress of the week dissipating. He needed this and he knew Asahi and Suga did too.
“Hey,” Suga chuckled, wiping a tear of laughter from the corner of his eye. “Remember that game?"
Daichi tilted his head to the side. “What game?”
“Oh no.” There was horror in Asahi’s features, but a little smile pulled at the corners of his mouth. Daichi was even more confused, especially when Suga got up with a bright grin and disappeared into his room, coming back a few moments later with a Jenga box. Both Asahi and Daichi gasped, their cheeks flushing.
“Oh my goodness, why do you still have that?!” Daichi said, chuckling a little as Suga sat back down on his side of the table at Daichi's right. He pulled out the tower of Jenga pieces and it was as if a hurricane of memories flooded his head, making him laugh lightly.
“Oh please, don't tell me we're-”
“Our dear designer will go first!” Suga interrupted Asahi, pushing the tower between them.
“Why me?!”
Daichi laughed. A little bit of excitement swirled in his chest. He still remembered perfectly well the day when Suga, of course, had proposed to alter this Jenga game. It was a normal game: pieces of wood that you had to take out and place on top, but with the peculiarity that on each piece there was a small inscription, made by Suga himself, with a permanent marker.
Daichi could see that the letters hadn't worn off at all, even after playing for so long on the weekends when they were in high school. On each piece a small punishment or 'dare', as Suga called it, was written and all of them, absolutely all of them, were related to tickling. Tickling a body part for a certain amount of time, enduring being tickled without laughing, doing something stupid to avoid being tickled, Suga had come up with all sorts of ideas that had really blown Daichi and Asahi's minds. The work of a true sadist, Asahi had said at the time, earning himself a second round of tickling just because.
“Loser will pay for breakfast tomorrow, okay?"
It wasn't like Daichi or Asahi could say no... and it wasn't like they wanted to say no, either. Daichi had to be honest, he was excited to play again, and from the goofy smiles on his friends' faces, he knew they did too. Especially Suga.
Asahi whined, but he reached out, his hand shaking slightly as he pulled the first piece out. He immediately tried to pull it on top, but Suga snatched it off his hand and read the inscription out loud:
“Three minutes of tummy tickles.”
Asahi whined again, almost kicking his legs like a child throwing a tantrum as he grabbed the block from Suga's hand and carefully placed it on top. Daichi laughed and pulled out his phone, setting the timer.
Poor Asahi was already laughing even as he lay on the floor, infecting Daichi and Suga. Both men stood on either side of Asahi and Suga immediately lifted up his shirt, exposing his toned stomach.
“I hope my tickling abilities aren't too rusty,” Suga said, wiggling his fingers just above Asahi's tummy, making him squirm and whine. “Ready, Dai?”
“Why are you asking Daichi if-”
“Ready!”
“Gahahaha!”
The laughter of the three echoed throughout the house as four hands descended against Asahi's stomach. The former ace immediately curled up into a ball, trying to protect his stomach, but there wasn't much he could do with four hands on him. Daichi's fingers ran quickly up and down and back and forth, scribbling all over the warm skin. Suga, on the other hand, dug and vibrated his fingers forming a claw against the center and sides of Asahi's belly, right around his navel.
“S-Stahahahap!”
Daichi chuckled, “you certainly are still ticklish, huh?”
“And I certainly haven't lost my touch!” Suga chirped, giggling when he made Asahi squeal and jerk heavily to the side.
Daichi felt like he was back in high school and laughed happily along with Asahi and Suga until his phone rang, signaling the end of the two minutes. Asahi sighed, quickly pulling down his shirt and laughing when Suga mischievously poked the side of his tummy.
“Dahahaichi! Suga is ch-cheheating!”
“Don't worry, it's his turn now.”
Suga looked up with wide eyes and said something about how it was unfair that it was his turn already when he had bought and taken care of the game, but as they settled back around the table, Daichi and Asahi looked at him with mischievous smiles and he had no choice but to take out a block.
“It says 30 seconds of side tickling,” he said, barely turning to look at the block, but before he could place it on top of the tower, Daichi grabbed his wrist and snatched the block from him. “No!”
“Oya?” Daichi smirked, turning the block around so the other two could see it too, Asahi leaned forward to read it, Suga groaned. “Ticklers’ choice + two minutes.”
“That is so unfair!”
“I ask for his ribs,” Asahi said, totally ignoring Suga as he looked at Daichi with a smirk.
Daichi nodded, “then I'll go for his hips.”
“Hey! Why are you guys being so mean?!” Suga yelled, but he stay laid down against the floor, Daichi and Asahi quickly hovering over him. “W-Why do you have to ch-choose such horrible s-s-”
“You can start now, Asahi!”
Suga began to squirm under their hands. Asahi's light, gentle, almost shy fingers carefully dug against his ribs and into the ticklish spaces between them, rubbing circles and squeezing and pinching, knowing Suga was weaker to harder tickles. Meanwhile, Daichi's fingers pressed against Suga's hip bones, rubbing circles that had Suga bouncing his hips and moving them from side to side as if he was dancing.
“He's so ticklish, isn't he?” Asahi asked, giggling when he found a pair of ribs that made Suga squeal.
“He truly is. What's the matter, sensei~? Can't stand a little tickling?”
“I'm gohohonna kihihihill you!” Suga cackled, his hands weakly trying to push at Asahi's. “It's beheheheen mohohore thahan two m-minutes!”
Just as he said that, Daichi's phone rang again and that was when the adrenaline started running through his veins. It was his turn! He has always had very bad luck in these kinds of games!
“I feel so bad for you,” Asahi said, patting his back and Daichi reached out to pinch his side. Asahi giggled, pulling away.
“I do too,” Suga chuckled, already recovered from the tickle attack as he carefully placed his block on top of the tower. “Anyways, go ahead, Daichi!” Oh he was so ready to destroy it.
Daichi picked a wooden piece and pulled it out ridiculously slow, causing Suga to yell at him to hurry up. Asahi laughed, but Daichi was sweating as he read the block.
Oh heavens.
He looked at both men. “I- I think we should- ah!”
“What does it say?! What does it say?!”
Asahi read the lines out loud after taking the block from Daichi's hand and Daichi, rather childishly, covered his ears to not hear, as if that could be of any help.
“Hehe, it says ‘big prize! Getting tickled in your worst spot for three minutes with your arms and/or feet pinned down!’.”
“N-Noho, please! Let- Let me choose another one, yes? I- I- n-no! Nohoho!”
Both Suga and Asahi launched themselves at him, knocking him to the floor. Each one grabbed one of Daichi's wrists and pushed them up over his head, exposing his most ticklish spot: his underarms. Daichi shook his head, giggling like crazy.
“Please, no! Plehehease, please, s-somewhehere ehelse!” He begged, looking up at his merciless captors, but he knew he had no way out of this.
Asahi set the timer as he still begged, shrieking as Suga acted as if he was going to start tickling him already, letting his hand fall towards his armpit before stopping it just a few centimeters away from his weak spot. He was already pink in the face and he couldn't stop giggling as the others tightened their hold around his wrists.
“Plehease! G-Guhuys, I really can't-”
“Aaaand… now!”
The feeling of Asahi and Suga's fingers on his armpits was simply indescribable. Every nerve under his arms set off and the sensations traveled to his brain like little jolts of electricity. The laughter that poured from his lips was loud and hysterical. It had been so long since he was tickled like this, he could barely stand it.
Daichi laughed, begged and screamed for them to stop, but he was almost certain that, at most, only five seconds had passed of the three minutes that awaited him.
“P-PLEHEASE! N-Not thehehere!”
Suga and Asahi giggled and chuckled, their fingers digging, pinching, rubbing, prodding and just doing about anything they could think of to tickle Daichi's poor, exposed and ticklish armpits. They knew how to tickle him so well, they had already so much experience and they truly hadn't forgotten about anything.
Daichi cackled and howled, shrieking ridiculously loud as his legs kicked and his body squirmed from side to side. He was surprised he couldn't free himself from their grip, he did a lot of training at work, but there he was, being reduced to a laughing mess by some tickles to his armpits.
“What's the matter, policeman~?” Suga teased, giggling loudly. “Can't stand a little tickling? Let's hope no criminals know about your weakness!”
Asahi laughed, shaking his head. “You are terrible. Daichi, tell him something, don't let him mock justice like this!”
They were both terrible! Daichi felt his face getting hot and he tried to say something, but he just couldn't, not when he was laughing like that.
“Five… four… three.. two… one… zero!”
Daichi collapsed on the floor, breathing heavily as he tried to stop the laughter that continued to flow out of him. He didn't even have the strength to lower his arms, but Suga and Asahi helped him... by tickling him again. Daichi immediately lowered his arms, writhing on the floor.
“G-Gohohoodnehehess, this g-game is teheherrible!”
“You're just unlucky, or should I say, very lucky?" Suga giggled, poking Daichi's ribs and tummy until he sat back again, letting out a long sigh as he put his block in olace. "Okay, Asahi, you're next!”
"This can't get any worse, right? Oh..."
"Let's see," Suga chuckled, taking the block from Asahi's hand and grinning wildly at the words. "Three minutes of feet tickling with brushes~"
"Plehehease, d-don't! Anything buhut thahat!"
Daichi thought perhaps it wasn't that he was unlucky in this game... Suga simply was, indeed, a sadist!

He have been touring for a while. You wished you can accompany him and see the world with him but that's impossible. You have your own work and you can't risk people seeing you in every tour stop. It's for your own protection and also for his career. You don't want to ruin his career.
It maybe romantic to scream yo the whole wide world that he is your man and you both love each other so much. It's not always the best option.
But since it's been months since the last you saw him, you planned on going to one of his stop. You saved enough money and Vaction leave credits so you can stay for a week for him. Since he will be staying as well for work too.
----
Admiring the view from your balcony, you can't help but smile like a little kid while taking pictures of the sky, the buildings and everything you're seeing.

(Photo not mine. Ctto)
You got tense a little as hands snakes around your torso. "Having fun?" But the second you heard his voice, your body relaxes. You lean back, head on his shoulder and giving him access to kiss you on your neck. "I'm sorry, I'm a little late... we got caught in traffic on our way back."
"It's fine. I understand." Moving away from his embrace, you face him and admire how dashing he looks. "Your hair got longer..." you then tug his hair behind his ear.
"Well, you said you wanted to see me with longer hair so... I grew it out."
"Did I?"
"Yes, mentioned it before..."
"You really do pay attention to everything I say..." you giggle on how cute your boyfriend is. This makes you feel happy.
"It's because I love you..." he moves closer to you, making you walk back a little. Your lowerback now is leaning on the fence of the balcony. His face is just inches away from yours, "I missed you so much..." he say staring at your parted lips. "Wait.. You're wearing make up?"
You look away, a little embarassed. You're not the type to actually put make up all the time. Yoongi is used to seeing you barefaced since you two always meet in hiding. Either your apartment or his.
"Well, it's been so long since I've seen you... and... maybe... you've seen quite a few beautiful ladies around the world so..."
He snorts a laugh. He tries not to laugh but you can see how his shoulder is shaking trying to supress it.
"Yah!" You slap him by his shoulder, "what's so funny? Am I a joke to you now?"
"Oh, babe." He wraps you up in embrace, his hands, one at the back of your head and one at the back of your neck. His thumb lightly caressing you. "You know how much I love you... I don't care about other women. My eyes, heart, body and soul is just for you... my Y/n..."
You lock your arms around his torso. "I love you too... so much..." you nuzzles your face on his chest. "I missed you so bad... this have been the longest we were apart."
"I know..." he kisses the top of your head and then reaches for your chin to lift it up. "I've missed you to... and.." he pauses to kiss you. He does it with a very longing feeling. He is not rushing every move but he's very much leading the whole kiss. You can feel how he savours each lips to lips friction.
"Yoongi," you say as you lips parted from his, "I think we should get inside... we are exposed here..."
"Why? Don't you love to make out here? With this view?" His body is closer to yours. So close that both of your clothes are the only thing separating you both.
"I do..." You push your hair away from your face, "but don't you think... people might see us...?"
He leans down and begins kissing you on your neck then your exposed shoulder. You didn't realized he had already slipped the strap of your dress down.
"Yoongi..." you moan but you still try to stop him. "Babe..."
"We're on the 28th floor. We are facing the ocean... the other buildings are far away. They will not notice us..." he says quietly
He grabs both your hands by the wrist, throwing them around his neck for you to hold onto. He then takes one of your leg up around his hips. Pushes the skirt of your dress away, exposing your legs and giving him an easy access to your panties.
"Please...babe... allow me..." he runs his thumb over your already wet core. "I want to have you now... promise... I will be careful... if you're worried anyone would see us... I just..." your foreheard together, his eyes closed shut as he rub his thumb on you.
You didn't answer him yet. You want answer but your so indulged in the moment.
"Ah! Yes..." You hold on tight around his neck. You feel a sudden weakness on your body as he continues to rub your clit. "More... Yoongi... more..."
"Did you miss this?" He whispers to your ears. You nod. "How about this?" He pushes your panties to the side and slides one finger in.
"Fuck! Ah! Y-yes..." you cry. Your grip onto his shoulder like its life or death. "Please... so good!"
Yoongi slowly pushes another digit in you making you quiver with pleasure. "I love how you sound..." the rythm of his pushing in and out of you is making you go crazy.
"Please... I want you..." you says looking into his eyes. "I want... you..."
He picks you up like a bride. "Let's go inside. It's getting cold."
"I thought... you want to try do have sex here... for a change..."
"We can if you want to.. but I realized I don't want you to get sick. You get cold so easily..."
"Oh, okay."
"Plus, I don't think they are ready to hear us do this all night... maybe some other time. For now... all of your orgasm is mine to hear and enjoy."😈

Please more “when they try to insult you” with Suga maybe?
When they insult you (Sugawara and Iwaizumi)
a/n yippeee a requesttt!!! I hope it's to your liking.
genre: hurt/comfort angst
part one part two part three part four part five
(not having a job)
The sun is setting outside, casting a warm glow over the living room. You sit on the couch, flipping through job listings on your laptop. The atmosphere is tense, a silence hanging heavily between you and Sugawara. He's been quiet since he got home, and you can feel the weight of unspoken words pressing down on both of you.
"Koushi, how was your day?" you ask, trying to break the silence.
"It was fine," he replies shortly, not looking up from the paperwork he's going through.
You bite your lip, feeling the strain in his voice. "I was thinking about applying to some jobs I found today. What do you think?" You ask, showing him a couple of job listings on your phone.
He finally looks up, his eyes tired and frustrated. "That's great, (Y/N). But honestly, it feels like you've been saying that for a while now."
The words hit you hard. "I'm trying, Koushi. You know how hard it is to find something right now."
He sighs, running a hand through his hair. "I know you're trying, but it's just... It's hard doing everything on my own. I feel like all the financial burden is on me, and it's exhausting."
Your heart sinks, tears welling up in your eyes. "I'm doing my best. It's not like I want to be unemployed. I'm constantly looking for opportunities."
"Sometimes it feels like you're not trying hard enough," he says, his voice rising. "I come home tired every day, and it feels like nothing's changing. I can't do this by myself forever, (Y/N)."
You stand up, your hands shaking. "I'm sorry I'm not finding a job as quickly as you'd like, Koushi. But I'm trying, and it hurts that you think I'm not doing enough."
He opens his mouth to respond but then stops, his expression softening as he sees the pain in your eyes. "I didn't mean it like that, (Y/N). I just... I'm so stressed. It's hard to see a way out sometimes."
You nod, tears spilling down your cheeks. "I understand you're stressed, but taking it out on me isn't fair. We're supposed to support each other."
He steps closer, his face filled with regret. "You're right. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. I'm just scared and tired, and I took it out on you. Can you forgive me?"
You wipe your tears away, taking a deep breath. "I can forgive you, Koushi, but we need to communicate better. We're a team, remember?"
He pulls you into a tight embrace, his voice breaking. "I know. I'm so sorry, (Y/N). I love you, and I don't want to hurt you. We'll get through this together."
You hold onto him, feeling the warmth and sincerity in his embrace. "I love you too. We'll find a way. Just promise me you'll talk to me about how you're feeling instead of bottling it up."
He nods, pressing a kiss to your forehead. "I promise. We'll face everything together."
As you stand there, wrapped in each other's arms, the tension begins to melt away, replaced by a renewed sense of closeness and understanding. You know there will be challenges ahead, but as long as you face them together, you'll be okay.
(not being as active????)
The house is quiet, your toddler finally asleep after a long day. You’re in the kitchen, cleaning up the remnants of dinner. Iwaizumi walks in, his face lined with exhaustion. He’s been distant lately, the weight of his responsibilities at work and home pressing heavily on him.
“Hey,” you greet him softly, hoping to ease the tension. “How was your day?”
“Tiring,” he mutters, dropping his gym bag on the floor. “Every day feels the same.”
You nod, understanding his fatigue all too well. “I know it’s hard, Hajime. But we’re getting through it.”
He sighs, running a hand through his hair. “Are we? It doesn’t feel like it. It feels like I’m stuck in a rut, and nothing’s changing.”
You swallow, trying to keep your voice steady. “We’re doing the best we can. It’s tough with a toddler, but we’re managing.”
He suddenly turns to you, frustration flashing in his eyes. “You know, I was talking to Oikawa today. His wife still manage to go out, have fun, keep things exciting. But you… you never go out. It’s like you’ve given up.”
The words hit you like a punch to the gut. “What?” you whisper, tears springing to your eyes. “I’m taking care of our child, Hajime. It’s not like I have a lot of free time.”
He rubs his temples, clearly regretting his words but too tired to take them back. “I didn’t mean it like that. It’s just… I miss how things used to be. Before we had all these responsibilities.”
You take a shaky breath, trying to hold back your tears. “I miss it too. But this is our life now, and we need to support each other. Comparing me to Oikawa’s wife isn’t fair.”
He steps closer, his expression softening. “You’re right. I’m sorry. I’m just so tired and stressed, and I took it out on you. That was wrong.”
You look at him, your heart aching. “I’m tired too, Hajime. But I’m doing my best. We both are.”
He reaches out, pulling you into his arms. “I know. I’m sorry for making you feel like you’re not enough. You’re more than enough, (Y/N). I love you, and I appreciate everything you do for our family.”
You cling to him, tears slipping down your cheeks. “I love you too. Just… please, don’t compare me to others. We’re doing what we can, and that’s enough.”
He nods, pressing a kiss to your forehead. “I promise. We’ll get through this together.”
You rest your head against his chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart. “Maybe we can find a way to make things more exciting, even with our responsibilities,” you suggest softly. “We can plan a date night at home after our little one is asleep, or take turns giving each other a break.”
He smiles, the tension in his shoulders easing. “That sounds like a good idea. I miss spending time with you, just the two of us.”
“Me too,” you agree, feeling a flicker of hope. “We’ll find a balance, Hajime. It won’t always be easy, but we’re in this together.”
He tightens his embrace, his voice filled with determination. “Together. I promise to be more understanding and to communicate better. We’ll make this work.”
As you hold each other, the hurt begins to fade, replaced by a renewed sense of closeness and understanding. You know there will be challenges ahead, but as long as you face them together, you’ll be okay. The future might be uncertain, but with Hajime by your side, you feel ready to take on whatever comes your way.

003. bittersweet chocolate chunk | onigiri cravings
cw: cursing, angst............and slow burn sooo yasss.
"i'll be here for the next couple of months," he says, leaning against the counter slab. his apron is a mess, covered in various substances, and his hat is thrown to the side as he runs his fingers through his hair.
"why?" semi asks, appearing from the kitchen.
"bet it's 'cause of y/n," suga whispers, very obviously, into iwa's ear, causing osamu to clear his throat loudly.
"we're gonna be undergoing some slight renovations, and i need to meet with some contractors. plus, i have new recipes to release," he states, eyes shooting a look at suga. "speaking of y/n, where is she?" samu asks, glancing around hopefully.
"she's gonna be a little late. said she'd explain when she gets here," suga starts, shrugging his shoulders. but the worried look on his face transfers to osamu, who hums quietly.
meanwhile, in your studio apartment, you wonder when it all got this way. when did akaashi become so overly consumed with school and so inconsiderate of his relationship? it all boiled down to this moment. you expected it, but not like this, not this torturous.
the arguments continued after he stormed out, but the apologies became less and less frequent between the two of you. the house was ghostly, with nothing but short screaming matches followed by the slamming of doors. you found out that when he leaves, he stays with bokuto.
"i'm not arguing with you today," akaashi states, pushing past you into the study.
"akaashi, what are we even doing?" you huff, eyes tired as you watch him pause in the doorway.
"i…" he pauses, taking a deep breath before pinching his temples. "i don't fucking know, y/n. this isn't us," he starts, turning around to face you.
"no shit," you reply plainly.
"i think we should break up," he says, his mouth straightening into a thin line. but your reaction isn't sad in the moment; you won't give him that satisfaction. you scoff and cross your arms over your chest.
"you know, i had a feeling this was coming, but i thought you were too scared to do it. you grew a pair, keiji," you say bitterly, as you begin grabbing your stuff. his mouth opens, but he shuts it promptly.
"and i'll move out. i'll find a place and stay at suga's until then. you pay most of the rent anyway," you say plainly, willing yourself not to cry, to be strong.
"y/n… you don't have to—" he starts, but you immediately cut him off.
"keiji, i do. we were in love for a long time, but there's something you love more than me, and that's okay. it takes time, energy, and patience to become a doctor—something i don't have," you laugh harshly, your eyes clouding slightly as you remember words from a past argument. "this was a long time coming. we need space to process this, so don't worry about it." you finish, stepping into the genkan and silently sliding on your shoes. you leave akaashi there, standing in the middle of your apartment, eyes glazed and dazed.
you walk to work, willing yourself not to cry. if anything, this gives you a chance to study more for your upcoming nclex exam and work more hours. you will try your hardest not to let akaashi keiji break you.
as you walk into work, you're met with the face you've grown to find safe, and somehow, your eyes immediately begin to water. suga knowingly opens his arms while semi opens the door to the back of the house.
"oh, baby," suga mutters as tears pour from your eyes, and you all but fall into his arms.
"it's over," you mutter repeatedly into the fabric of suga's dark 'onigiri miya' shirt.
osamu's eyes flicker up from his office, catching sight of suga walking you to the break room, streaky tears staining your beautiful face. osamu immediately makes a beeline for you, but iwaizumi stops him.
"she'll be okay, but right now she's going through something. it's not my place to explain, but just… give her a moment," iwa says, placing a firm hand on osamu's shoulder. yet osamu's eyes drill into the window of the break room. you are seated on the bench, your head buried in suga's shoulder while he pats your back and nods. iwa squeezes his shoulder reassuringly before guiding him back towards his office.
the tears eventually subside, and you explain the situation, albeit briefly. suga is understanding, immediately offering to help you move your stuff into his house for the time being. you explain it would truly only be for a short time and that you would do anything for him in the meantime, ranging from housework to picking up his shifts.
if there's anything you hate, it's feeling like you're burdening people.
you head into the employee bathroom and wash your face. your eyes are slightly red and puffier than usual. you sigh deeply and take a second to breathe before making a resolve in your mind.
three years is a long time, and the two of you have grown apart. it was excruciatingly obvious, yet no one wanted to acknowledge it, causing this pain. there's no time to be upset over this—it was coming, and you expected it. so, you would allow these feelings to pass and focus on what was important: your upcoming nclex exam and saving money. that was it; you would simply focus extra hard for now.
as you walk out of the bathroom and push out into the kitchen, your eyes catch on osamu, who is wrist-deep in a bowl of pre-cooked rice. his eyes immediately meet yours, catching you off guard.
"you missed the big announcement," samu starts, his lips twitching up playfully but carefully not to offend or hurt you any further. "i'll be staying here at this location for a bit," he finishes, smiling clearly from under the brim of his onigiri miya cap.
"ah… i see," you smile, your eyes still dull and puffy. you push out into the front of the house, ready to work and fueled with a renewed sense of energy.
a/n: dang rip akaashiyn, you will be rejuvenated in another series. AYEEEE bring on the slow burn with samu. i might double update, keep ya eyes out. this chapter is kinda..i promise the development is worth it.

[2.3k]
I get absorbed into an eternity~ Kura, Kura, Kura, Kura! (Dizzy Dizzy) (TWICE!)Isn't it magic, babe?~
"No, Lia, stop--" You flail as you're forcefully shoved towards the stairwell by the third year classrooms, "I will throw up on you if we get any closer!"
"Don't be dramatic," Your friend replies, not ceasing her movements, "you promised me that you would talk to him this week, and it's Friday."
"I said that I might if I can," You manage to wiggle your way out of Lia's grip, "I didn't promise you anything--ohmygod he's right there--"
"Go say hi!"
"No! I don't want to be here right now!"
From his place by the top of the stairwell, Daichi glances down at the two bickering in hushed whispers.
He blinks with a hum before looking at his friends, Sugawara and Asahi, who are too busy talking to notice them. A barely noticeable smirk makes its way onto his face at the sight of a familiar third-year, watching as they frantically shake their head at their friend.
He elbows Sugawara, "Hey, isn't it that [name]? Our classmate you said you like?"
"What? Don't be so loud, Daichi." The silver haired male warns, huffing at him despite the pink tinge on his skin. His friend rolls his eyes, motioning towards the friends down the stairwell.
Sugawara follows his line of sight, chest tightening. "...Okay, maybe I did say that," he sighs as his friends fist pump victoriously, "so what?"
"Go talk to them," Asahi states, an encouraging look in his eyes.
Suga's gaze flickers and his shoulders slouch, "Even if I wanted to--I-I can't."
"What? Why not?"
"Well," He rubs the nack of his neck sheepishly, "[name] runs away at the first sight of me," Sugawara sighs, diverting his gaze and propping his arms on the balcony railing.
"I think I've already scared them off somehow..."
They remain in silence for a moment, Suga wallowing in his self pity whereas Asahi and Daichi remain in thought.
"You know," Asahi pipes up slowly, "[name]'s generally a pretty shy person..."
"Oh yeah, that's right," Daichi perks up, "isn't [name] in your class, Asahi?" The male in question nods.
"Mm. Uh... I could talk to them for you if you want."
Sugawara visibly brightens, perking up against the railing, "Really?"
"Sure," The bun haired man smiles before faltering, "b-but... I hope [name] isn't scared of me..."
"U-Uh, hey, [name]-san!" Asahi hurriedly calls out to you after the school bell rings, signifying the end of the day. You look up from your desk, having stood up to pack your bag.
Asahi immediately sweat drops, not having though this through.
"Um, uh... y-you're in the photography club, right?" He mentally sighs in relief at her nod, "I was, eheh, just wondering what this term's project was? A-Asking for a... friend..."
"Oh, sure." You give him a polite smile and open your bag, plucking out your camera.
You don't notice Asahi thanking whatever god there was that you bought his excuse.
"We're supposed to do something along the lines of... capturing movement, or some sort of... improvement? It's an odd topic that I've been struggling with, so quite a few of us haven't started it yet, myself included."
"Capturing... movement?" Asahi echoes, and you nod with a hum, "like, physically, or..?"
You shrug, "I guess. Ah, I'm not too sure where to start though."
Your classmate straightens up, an idea springing to his mind, "Hey, how about you come photograph the volleyball club? That counts as movement, right? Besides, we've been meaning to advocate for sponsors too..."
"Oh, really?" Your eyes sparkle, "I'll take you up on that offer, for sure! But, would that be okay with your captain..?"
Asahi nods, "O-Of course! You could drop by now to check things out if you want!"
"Ah, alright!" Your smile is one of relief and gratitude, "thank you, Asahi-san! I'll just call in with my club and then I'll head on over."
"Sure, I'll see you soon then," Asahi holds his breath as you nod politely before leaving the classroom with your bag and camera in hand.
He stalls a few minutes before bolting out the door and into the nearly empty class next door, "Daichi, Suga! She's dropping by the court today!"
"Today? Now?" Sugawara perks up. The ace nods affirmatively.
"[name]'s got a project in the photography club and I offered to let them take pictures of us. [name]'s just stopping by to check things out today."
"Well, we better head down there then," Daichi smirks, nudging Suga and giving Asahi a rough pat on the back, "nice work, Asahi! And try not to get too distracted, Suga."
"I-I won't get distracted!"
His two friends share a look.
"Sure you won't."
"Whatever you say."
"Uh, hello?" You hesitantly knock on the wall of the gymnasium before you step in, "pardon the intrusion--"
"Ah, [last name], right?" Daichi makes his way over to you after talking to Ukai about everything, "feel free to put your stuff by the bench and to move around. We're just warming up at the moment."
"Thank you, a-and feel free to just call me [name]," You give him a curt smile before doing just that, getting your camera back outall the whilst.
You turn it on and adjust the lens, directing it towards the court and focusing it on the various players stretching. You hum to yourself as the slight blur disappears before gasping, a squeak nearly daring to echo with the gym's torrent acoustics when you spot Sugawara in the midst of the group.
You lower the camera from your view, eyes wide before quickly turning your back to them as you feel yourself overheating. 'How could I forget? He's the vice-captain of this club..! God I'm so stupid...'
"[last name]-san?" You tense as Kiyoko approaches, "are you alright? You look a bit... flushed."
You swore you could see the lightest of smiles on the pretty girl's face.
Kiyoko hums, "hm, don't worry. I won't tell him."
Your heart drops.
"What."
You could feel the blood rushing to your face in humiliation--maybe you weren't as slick as you though...
"K-Kiyoko-san..." You felt pale, "did... did Lia tell you?!"
'They are in the same class after all...'
"That, and it's rather obvious you like him." The ravenette chuckles, "it's okay. He hasn't caught on quite yet. Why don't you say hi?"
You shake your head, "I-I can't," you sigh while Kiyoko tilts her head confusedly, "he's just...too much for me. I think I've gotten myself too involved in it, in a way."
"What do you mean?"
Your feel dizzy having to say it all, shrinking in on yourself with a humbling groan.
"When... When I'm around him it's like... I-I get dizzy, and, I've never liked someone so much before and I don't know if it's weird or not, b-but I can't stop thinking about him, and then I get restless and-and--I just seem to lose control of myself..."
Your voice cracks, "mMMmMm I hate feeling so flustered about this..!"
"No, no," Kiyoko giggles at your embarrassed expression, "it's a very sweet sentiment. I think it's cute... And you know," A cheeky glint appears in her eyes, "he probably would too~"
"Who's this about?"
Your heart stops beating momentarily before you slowly turn around, visibly deflating in relief at the sight of the team's captain.
Daichi chuckles at you sheepishly, "Sorry, didn't mean to startle you. I just wanted to let you know we're about to start our practice game in case you wanted a few shots of those."
"A-Ah," You straighten yourself up and nod gratefully, ignoring the fact that your face refused to give you a moment's respite from its embarassed warmth.
"Thanks. I'll, uh... I'll just take a few photos of that... uh.." You give your fellow third years a quick awkward smile before scurrying away to the other side of the court.
Daichi blinks before turning to Kiyoko, "Do you think they're getting anywhere?"
"Oh, [name]'s down just as bad as him," The manager lets out a small laugh, "but nowhere near as confident. Suga can rest assured that [name] isn't actually scared of him, just a bit shy."
"I think 'a bit' is an understatement," Daichi crosses his arms in thought as he watches the student in question bolt off the moment Suga so much as steps in their direction, "let's try work on that, shall we?"
Aha.
Unfortunately for them, you managed to evade almost each and every one of their attempts to set you up with Sugawara, whether knowingly or otherwise. It was like you subconsciously avoided it.
And it was frustrating.
But then, fortunately for them, a miracle happened where classes 3-1 to 3-4 merged for a combined project assignment; classes 3-1 and 3-2 were paired together (Kiyoko and Lia's class) followed by classes 3-3 and 3-4, which were coincidentally the classes containing Asahi and (Y/N), and Suga and Daichi.
The project required you to pick a partner from either class, wherein Asahi and Daichi quickly paired up, leaving Suga and you to fend for yourselves.
Luckily enough, Sugawara had the courage to ask you to be his partner, and thank god you actually accepted--otherwise the others would freak.
Thankfully, through this the two of you became closer (not like you really had a choice), often meeting outside of class time and during the weekend to complete your assignment.
Even then, you still stuck around during volleyball training since your own photography project wasn't finished either, giving the third years more time to plan--not noticing Sugawara gradually making moves of his own.
"Hey, [name]," The vice-captain approaches you at the end of practice.
You were seated on the steps outside as you flicked through the camera's gallery, "Get any good shots today?" He smiles at you.
You look up at him, nodding before turning your attention back to your camera, stiffening when you realize you just so happened to stop scrolling on a picture of him.
You snap the camera closed, warmth creeping up your cheeks, "Y-Yeah, ah... I should be finished with my project in the next week or so."
Your voice is quiet, but not so much that you had to strain yourself to hear it.
Sugawara nods, humming, "Oh, nice. Speaking of projects," he ignores the butterflies in his stomach, forcing himself crouch down to match you, "about our assignment..."
You could swear you were trembling under his gaze, ears ablaze in nerves and humiliation at having the audacity to breathe within this proximity--though you find you can't bring yourself to look away from his patient form.
"Y-Yes..?"
Suga takes in a breath before smirking, "How about... instead of meeting at the school library, we head downtown to that sweets café on the weekend? It would be a nice change of scenery, ah--plus we could have something to eat during study."
Your mind turns into chaos immediately, questions about if he had any sort of hidden meaning in his offer and overthinking the situation; your too caught up to notice the pink tinting his cheeks, nor how he hid his hand in his pocket to conceal his own trembling nerves.
"Ummm... sure."
"Great," A wave of relief washes over Sugawara, the only visible signs of this being how his shoulders relax ever so slightly.
His smirk slips into a giddy, boyish smile, "How does Saturday sound? Around, let's say... early noon?"
"Y-Yeah. That's okay with me!"
He notices your conflicted, flustered expression and recalls the information his friends passed onto him. He bends his head to meet your eyes, gaze half lidded.
"Perfect." He leans in a little closer, and you doesn't move away. You take in a sharp breath, heart pounding in your chest.
His grin widens, and his blush increases to the tip of his ears, "It's a date then."
Gaze flicking down to your lips, he takes in a small breath when he spies your anticipatory look before gently pressing his lips to yours.
His stomach erupts in a flurry of butterflies and he can't fight back a wide smile when you almost immediately--eagerly--respond to his touch.
The kiss is sweet, and goes on for a few moments longer than he expected--not that he was complaining. You separate with a quiet chu~.
(Y/N)'s eyes flutter, seemingly in shock before looking up at him. Suga swallows, feeling bashful as he notices you subconsciously run your tongue over your lips quickly, nervously, as though you could still feel him there.
Suga smiles, no longer functioning on his mustered up courage but instead, running on a rush of adrenaline and unadultered joy.
"See you Saturday then," He positively beams at you.
You smile at him bashfully, feeling your body tingle in happiness as you grow giddy.
"Yeah," You voice softly, finding yourself lost in his hazel-brown eyes, "see you then."
He reaches out and caresses your warm cheek, giving you one more quick kiss and moon-eyed grin before picking himself up.
Each now going your own way, Suga fist pumps to himself estatically, laughing at how he could feel the heat radiating from his own cheeks.
"Yes!" He traces a finger over his lips, almost unable to believe he got the confidence to make those moves on you. He bites the inside of his cheek, 'I can't wait to see [name] again.'
You, on your way to upload the photos from your camera in the photography club room, find yourself in a daze.
You feel dizzy, breathless--oddly enough, not with your mind, but your heart. You let out a weightless laugh, a mix of happiness and bashfulness coursing through you. You clutche the camera case to your chest tight.
'I can't wait until Saturday...'
From the steps of the clubroom, the remaining third years stand with their mouths agape in utter shock.
"Whoa... Suga was bold..." Asahi mutters quietly, still in disbelief.
Kiyoko blinks before shaking her head and giggling, happy for their two friends. Daichi finally snaps out of his stupor.
"Well, at least we don't need to plan anything anymore."

❝Shoyou's Crush!❞
Summary: Oneshot with Shoyou!
Description: Shoyou has a tiny crush on one of his classmates. The only bad part is that they're his captain's little sibling!
Pairings: Shoyou Hinata x Reader
"Stop staring at them. You look like a creep."
Shoyou sat up and flinched looking his two classmates. He felt embarrassed that he was caught looking at you. "I am not! I'm just.. glancing!" Shoyou whispered shouted at them to not cause any unnecessary attention.
"Sure dude.. we're heading to lunch. Have fun.. staring." His classmates teased him before leaving to eat lunch. Shoyou pouted as muttered 'rude..' His friends weren't the best to go to when having a crush, let alone someone that's in their class.
He went back to looking at you. He was memorized by everything about you. From how you look to how you talk. Everything was just so captivating. He stared for a bit more before he saw his captain walk in.
"Hey Y/n! Come on Suga and Michimiya won't wait any longer ya know!" Daichi said with a smile. You nod and get up grabbing your stuff. Your full name was Y/n Sawamura. Daichi's little sibling. If Shoyou was brave enough he would ask Daichi about you but he isn't brave enough.
When you left the room with your brother you noticed Shoyou looking at you. Wanting to be polite you wave at him as a goodbye before leaving. Shoyou blushed a bit and hid his face with his hands. He was embarrassed to be caught looking at you. He would never live this down.
He got up from his seat and went to go find Noya. Noya had to know something about Daichi's younger sibling! Right? Well when he found Noya he was with Tanaka which was perfect! "Noya! Tanaka!" Shoyou said when he found them. "Oh hey Hinata. What's up?" Noya asked with a smile. "Do you guys know Daichi's little sibling?!" Shoyou asked rapidly. Noya and Tanaka froze and looked at each other.
"Well... they do visit sometimes since Daichi walks back with them." Noya said after thinking a bit. "Oh yeah! Plus why are your suddenly so interested in Captain's little sibling?" Tanaka asked teasingly with a smirk. Shoyou flushed. "Nothing! Just.. curious since they're in my class!" Shoyou said to cover up why he asked. "Sure bro." Noya said with a snicker. The bell rang signaling the end of lunch.
"I'll see you at practice!" Shoyou said before running off to his class. He really wanted to beat you there so he could have more time to mentally prepare himself. He had a plan! It was simple really. First he would pretend to not look at you. Next he knows his teacher is planning to do a project with partners. So he'll ask you to be his partner! Then during practice when you visit he talks to you! Finally you end up dating! It's a perfect plan!
Or so he thought. His teacher chose the partners and now he's with someone else! Plus your partner was one of his friends! They were so going to tease him about it! It's fine because at least he has practice! But how does he approach you without seeming creepy?! He'll just say that he recognized you! Yeah! This one will have no flaws for sure!
/ Time Skip \
Alright. He panicked. When you visited practice you waved at him since you recognized him. He froze and shyly waved back before running away. The good part? You laughed. You found him to be quite silly. Shoyou didn't know but you had noticed him before. You thought he was quite cute. You knew he was part of the volleyball team because your brother mentioned him before.
Shoyou didn't have the courage to speak to you but luckily you do. After practice was over you tapped Shoyou's shoulder when they were getting ready to leave. "Excuse me but you're Hinata right? I'm in your class." You say with a smile. Shoyou froze not expecting you to know him. "Yes! I mean! Yeah I am.." Shoyou exclaimed with flushed cheeks.
"Y/n come on!" Daichi called for you waiting at the door with Sugawara and Asahi. "Coming! See you tomorrow Hinata." You say before waving good bye. "Bye.. Y/n.." Shoyou waved back with a small smile. He can't believed he talked to you! Well not really but it's a start! Plus you know his name! He'll become your friend then you'll date! He can't wait to see his crush tomorrow.
a/n: oh sigma this was kind of longer! I didn't know how to end it😖

a/n: why does my mind do this to me (i'm listening to the greatest showman while writing this) (Also i don't speak japanese so if the whole 'kanji' thing is wrong pls lmk)
also i feel like i accidentally veer it towards daichi x reader at some points but i promise it's only platonic between them
BEFORE
"We're gonna have two kids," he said in the dim lighting, his hands entwined with yours. "And a big house with a big backyard for a dog." Your head was tucked into his chest, and you could feel his soft breaths against your forehead. His arms were securely wrapped around you. The vibrations of his voice felt in time with your heartbeat, and you were content. Wholly, truly content in your boyfriend's arms, finding yourself drifting off to sleep as he rambled about his future plans that involved you.
As your eyelids grew heavy and finally closed, you heard him murmur: "We'll name the daughter Harumi and the son Koji, of course."
"Don't I get a say?" you asked then, a playful edge in your tone as you nuzzled further into his chest.
He chuckles into your hair, and you can feel his chest shake. "Of course you get a say," he replied when his laughter died down, "after all, you're going to be their parent too."
It was as if everything in Sugawara's life went according to plan. The next morning, the two of you had your marriage ceremony and wedding. The guest list was on the smaller side, with close friends and family being invited; you recognized familiar faces from Sugawara's time in his high school volley ball club. Your parents were present, along with other extended family members. The event itself went off without a hitch, and, after six years together, you could finally call Sugawara your husband.
After that, it felt like time flew. Before you knew it, you were moving out of your small, shared apartment into a much larger house. Although it wasn't huge by any means, it had enough space for Sugawara's plans: two kids and a dog. And soon, the dog joined the family.
Sugawara had insisted on naming the dog Cheeseball (despite the dog being a Bernese Mountain Dog mix), and Cheeseball was perhaps the second light of Sugawara's life. When he was home, most of his time was spent on the couch, you nuzzled into his side, and Cheeseball laying across both of your laps.
A year or two after Cheeseball joined the family, your first daughter was born. Despite giving Sugawara sass for his choices in names, the two of you ended up agreeing on Harumi, and it was spelt with the kanji for 'sunny'. She had been born at the crack of dawn, hence her name.
As Harumi grew up, it became more and more evident that she was a carbon copy of Sugawara, save for the beauty mark. Her hair was a silky silver and her eyes were a deep brown. She even had a personality similar to that of your husband's: bright, cheerful, and chaotic.
Your life with Sugawara was picture perfect. Of course, of course, it all came crashing down.
It had happened while you were pregnant with your second child. Right after the ultrasound that revealed the baby's sex, no less. You had wanted it to be a surprise, so the technician had told Sugawara. Once the two of you got home, you nestled into your usual spot on the couch and smiled at him sweetly as Cheeseball hopped up and rested his head on your lap.
"Kōshi," you began, your voice dripping with honey, "can you do me a big, big favor?"
He returns your sweet smile with a knowing look, giving you a soft snort before responding. "Yes, my love?"
"I'm really craving cake right now." As if to prove your point, your stomach chose that moment to grumble rather loudly. "And I was thinking, maybe you could get a blue cake or a pink cake for the baby?"
He ruffled your hair before walking towards the entrance of the house, the car keys jingling in his hand. "I'll be back shortly with your sex reveal cake," he called out. The sound of the door slamming shut followed soon after.
You took a quick look at your phone to check the time -- 11:29am -- before turning the TV on to watch something while you waited for Sugawara to return. One hand stroked Cheeseball's soft fur while the other manipulated the remote to try and find a movie or show that piqued your interest.
After settling on a TV show about forensic psychologists and criminal profiling, you found your attention rapt by the show. After watching several episodes, Cheeseball barked. The sound of a door opening indicated that someone was home, and your brow began to furrow after Harumi entered the living room.
"Where's Papa?" Harumi asked, setting her backpack down on the table. Her silvery hair was in two pigtails, a bright gleam in her eyes. "He said he'd tell me if I'm gonna be a big sister or a big brother!"
You chuckled lightly at your daughter, patting the spot on the couch next to you. Another quick glance at your phone revealed that the time was 2:37pm -- four hours since Sugawara had left for the grocery store to get a cake. Anxiety began crawling its way through your system, heading for your heart.
"I don't know where he is," you told your six year old. "I asked him to go to the store and get cake to celebrate finding out! And, you're going to be a sister regardless of what the baby is. We get to find out if you're getting a new sister or a new brother."
Harumi nodded, hanging on to your every word. "I knew that," she huffed. After a brief period of silence, she added a tentative: "Maybe you should call Papa?"
"Good idea," you replied, kissing the top of her head before unlocking your phone and making your way to your contacts. As your finger hovered over the call button next to Sugawara's name, the home phone began to ring.
The anxiety that had been making its way through your body suddenly sank its claws into your heart. No one ever called the home phone. The only reason Sugawara even insisted on one was because it fit his idea of the perfect house. Standing up on shaky legs, you made your way over to the TV stand, picking the phone up from its cradle. You didn't recognize the number.
"Hello?" you asked quietly, cursing the slight tremor in your voice. Your heart began to beat rapidly in your chest, roaring in your ears -- you wouldn't be surprised if whoever was on the other end could hear it.
"Is this the Sugawara household?" the strannger questioned.
You recognized the voice almost instantly -- it was Daichi Sawamura, one of Sugawara's closest friends from high school. All it took was those five words for your world to start breaking apart.
"Hi, Daichi," you whispered. You glanced over your shoulder, meeting Harumi's big, brown eyes as she looked at you curiously. "Um, this is the Sugawara household, yes. If you needed something, you could've called my cell. Is everything alright?"
It took a tremendous amount of effort for you to speak in an even voice, to try and seem like you didn't know the next words that were going to come out of the phone.
You heard Daichi take a trembling breath from the other side of the phone, and you tried your best to steel your nerves for whatever he was going to say. Cheeseball chose that moment to get off the couch and pad over to you, as if the dog was aware of what was about to happen. Before Daichi even spoke, you found that tears had begun to stream down your face. "Sugawara -- no, Kōshi -- was in an accident." Another deep, shaky breath. "He didn't make it."
When you officially received the news, it had taken every ounce in you not to fall to your knees. Instead, you expressed the terror coursing through your veins by placing a hand underneath your small-but-noticeable baby bump. "Thank... thank you for telling me, Daichi." You placed the phone back in its cradle, not willing to wait for his response.
The hardest thing in your life was breaking the news to Harumi. How does one tell their child that their faither's never coming home again? How do you explain death in terms that a six year old will understand?
The sobs that tore from your daughter's throat when you told her moments later broke your heart even more. Beyond the pain in your chest, you felt numb, as if what was happening was happening to someone else, as if someone else's husband died on the way back from the grocery store with a blue cake in the passenger seat, as if it were a scene in a movie that you were watching.
You had slept in your once-shared bed that night, longing for the feeling of Sugawara's weight making the mattress dip beside you. You tossed and turned, and sleep didn't come until Harumi had made her way into your room. "Mommy, I can't sleep."
You sat up straight in the bed, holding your arms open for her. "Come here, then," you whispered into the dark room, watching her vague form clamber onto the bed before nuzzling into your chest.
You finally fell asleep with your daughter in your arms.
PRESENT
After that first night without him, you had gone through the motions. Harumi had insisted on going to school, saying something about not wanting to break her routine and "get stuck in the sad." For a six year old, she was wise.
You had covered the shrine in your house with white paper and closed its doors. You had set up a small table next to Sugawara's side of the bed, adorning it with his favorite flowers and jasmine-scented incense. You had called a temple, both grateful for and disgusted by the lack of emotion in your voice when you scheduled your husband's funeral service.
You're now standing next to his coffin, watching as people who knew your husband mill about the temple room. Harumi's by your side, her hand tightly gripping yours. You spot the familiar orange of Hinata's hair, the broad frame of Tsukishima, the angular jaw of Daichi. Your heart squeezes painfully in your chest as you notice the three of them approaching you.
You find yourself wondering, in that moment, what it must've been like for Daichi -- your husband's closest friend -- to not only find Sugawara in the car, but to have to report it to you. You watch as his features mold into a soft, sad smile. Tsukishima and Hinata have similar expressions on their faces.
The three of them each hand you one of many black envelopes you've already received, and you hand them to Harumi. You watch as she scampers off to place them with the rest, that silky silver hair of hers flowing freely behind her.
"How's she handling it?" Daichi finally asks, breaking the silence. Hinata and Tsukishima seem to take this as a sign, offering you their condolences before retreating back into the crowd. Your eyes don't miss the approaching form of your husband's other close friend, Asahi Azumane.
"She didn't want to stop going to school," you reply after a few moments. "She said it was because she didn't want to get stuck in her sadness."
"Wise kid," Asahi comments as he finally reaches the two of you. "May he rest in peace." He tilts his head towards Sugawara's coffin before nodding at you.
You nod in return, engaging in mindless conversation with the other two. You listen as they reminisce over their shared experiences in their high school volleyball club and watching their underclassmen become world-famous pros. You listen as their words flow in one ear and go right out the other. Before long, the wake begins in earnest. The priest goes to the front of the room and begins reciting a sutra, and you and Harumi place incense in the urn a total of three times.
The rest of the day passes in a blur.
That night, you're in your much-too-big bed, staring at the ceiling. Sleep stays a fair distance away from you until Harumi reappears in your doorway, around the same night she's done it every time. She nestles into the comfort of your arms, and you can feel the soft rise and fall associated with her breaths.
"Mommy," she says softly in the dark. "I miss Papa."
As if to make up for all the emotions you hadn't felt since his passing, the grief and the guilt come crashing down. You're suddenly too overwhelmed to speak, instead opting to hold your daughter tighter. She returns your squeeze with one of her own, being mindful of the bump of your stomach.
"Do you think my new brother will look like him?"
It takes you some time to trust your voice to speak. "I hope so," you manage to whisper. Harumi doesn't respond, and you can tell that she's fallen asleep.
At the end of the funeral on the following day, you watch as Sugawara's friends place a variety of flowers around his head in the coffin. You watch as Asahi lifts your daughter up with ease so she can add some flowers of her own. Your eyes follow their movements as they close the coffin and nail the lid shut with a stone.
You're grateful for the presence of Sugawara's family at the cremation afterwards, thankful for the steady hands of his parents as they assist you in picking the bones out from the ashes. You're thankful for Asahi and Daichi as well, since they've taken it upon themselves to babysit Harumi while you're preoccupied with this.
You, along with Sugawara's parents, walk towards the temple's lower rooms with the urn holding his remains in your arms. You're the one who places the urn in the small box. A small screen next to the locker-esque grave turns on, and your husband's face smiles at you brightly.
A sob escapes your throat, and tears begin to stream down your face. Sugawara's mother echoes the sentiment as the photo of her son shines brightly in the otherwise dim room. You take shaky, gasping breaths as the photo stares at you before you turn on your heel and leave.
AFTER
It's been several months since his passing. Your baby bump has only grown in size, and you're met with ferocious kicks at every time of day.
During the day, Harumi goes to school as normal. At night, she no longer tries to sleep in her own bed before coming to yours, instead opting to just start the night off in your bed. You find that sleep overtakes you with more ease when your arms are wrapped around your daughter.
It's not long before the sharp, stabbing pains of labor overwhelm you one day while you're at home. Daichi had forced himself to be on your phone's speed dial ever since you told him about the baby boy's kicking, and he is who you call when the time between contractions dwindles from hours to minutes, when the contractions themselves start lasting longer and longer. He's at your door quickly, ushering you into his police car and using the sirens to clear traffic. In between the bursts of pain, you find yourself wondering if it's legal.
When the two of you reach the hospital, you tell him to go get your daughter from the school before you're whisked away by the nurses. As your labor progresses and the baby's closer to being born, you hear Harumi's excited voice from the hallway. It's at this point that the door is closed so you can focus on your task at hand.
Within several hours, your new son is born. The sound of his cries echo throughout the small hospital room, and you watch as the nurses clean him up and wrap him in a soft blue blanket. They hand him to you before one opens the door and beckons for those who are waiting to come in.
Sugawara's parents enter along with yours after Harumi dashes in. She's at your bedside in seconds, jumping on the balls of her feet out of excitement. Your breath catches in your throat as the light shines on her silvery hair, your heart stinging at just how much she looks like Sugawara.
"Mommy, mommy, what's his name? Have you given him a name yet? Can we name him... can we name him Cheeseball?"
Your own mother laughs in response to that as your father picks Harumi up off the ground. "You can't name him Cheeseball," he says, "that's the name of your dog!"
Their conversation fades out of your focus as you gaze down at the little bundle in your arms. The faint hairs lining his forehead are the same shade as your own. You softly rub his nose with your finger, and you watch as his grubby arms escape the blanket and grab at your digit. His name comes to you with ease.
"Hi, Koji," you whisper.
