What is love?

Shakespeare tells us that 'love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind.' I'm only 10 and have yet to experience great love, so I chose to write about the only love I'm familiar with, the love my parents share.

It's not a new love filled with burning passion. My sister says they don't even French kiss anymore. But it's the little things I see them do for each other that tells me what love is, like in the car, when my mom puts her hand on the back of my dad's neck and massages it... Or when my dad warms up my mom's car and scrapes the ice off her windshield on cold mornings... And how they've learned to communicate with each other, using their own special language.

It's true we don't have a lot of money, but I like to think, even if we did, my parents would still be at home, hanging out together - of course in a much nicer house with a jacuzzi soaking tub. - If you ask people what they think are the greatest loves stories, they'll say Romeo and Juliet, or Hermione and Ron Weasley, and those are fine, but if you ask me, great love stories can be small, like my mom and dad's.

if yall have ever seen the middle, it would kinda be like axl and cassidy (i liked them together, although i def like axl and lexie together the most (but if we’re talking about what the best relationship is out of the whole show, i really love sue and sean🤭🤭)). reese wouldn’t wanna admit it for obvious reasons, but i think he needs someone smarter than him for balance. he’d probably make fun of your for being “a nerd” but you keep him in line with both academics and common sense. lois and the rest of the family would really like you for that i think

something i’ve kinda noticed is that malcolm and reese (mainly malcolm tho) like blondes, so reese would probably go for that. but then again, he probably won’t care about the color of your hair if you’re hot pfffft he’d most likely keep you away from malcolm tho, especially if this is after the whole beth incident

you’d also have to be nice, again for balance. his family would love this about you, especially his younger brothers bc you can stop reese from picking on them too much (at least until you’re out of the room)

so yea ig the best girl for reese is.. a good person? lmfao i don’t think he’d be actively seeking for that, but i think most of his gfs (except for beth, fuck beth) are good people, reese just needs someone a lil smarter so his stupid shenanigans get him arrested or killed or something

The Middle season 8 would be much better without all the romance. It's gotten absurd. Can no one be single for more than one episode? As the seasons progressed, the show became less about Frankie and more about Sue and Axl; which was good, in a way, since they're both arguably more likable than Frankie, their relationship is adorable, and unlike Frankie, Mike, and Brick, they've had some positive character development (Frankie and Mike regressed). However, relatable nerd Sue stopped being relatable around 4 seasons ago when the girl who never made anything became the girl everything magically happened to. And although Axl hasn't truly changed in many ways, he's become more sensitive and level-headed, and, sadly, less interesting. I think Frankie's the most charismatic character on the show, but she, along with Sue, have become too much. Sue's ignorance and naivete aren't cure anymore now she's an adult, and Frankie's awful parenting and craziness are less charming and more appalling. Still, Frankie remains the most well-rounded and compelling character of The Middle, and the show should go back to being mainly about her. It's weird that the current narrative is that Brick is the neglected youngest child when, in the beginning, the show was all about Frankie's hardships raising Brick and their special bond, and, if anything, Sue was the neglected middle child. Speaking of Brick, I wish his relationship with Cindy was less "he's weird, she's weird, it's not like they're going to find someone better" and more "everyone is different, there's someone out there for all of us; if we try to understand and respect each other, we can find the good in them". Why are Brick and Cindy in love? What are Cindy's qualities? Why are they together? It's like they gave Brick Cindy to show he's grown and has become more "normal", so no one has to worry about him anymore. I wish Brick got better storylines.

Back to the romance, I'm fine with Axl and Sue not finding "the one". In fact, I never expected them to. The show used to be about Frankie and her average, white, low middle class, American family, but now it's practically become a teen drama. I'd rather watch Axl and Sue naturally stumble through relationships than have all this drama. Are they really going to make Sue and Sean date? That happened out of nowhere. And whatever happened to Darrin? He was Sean and Axl's bestie. It's not that Lexie is a bad match for Axl, but he was super in love with April and all of a sudden he stopped? It's hard to imagine anyone being "the one" after that. Just leave them alone. They don't need to find their spouses before the show ends. Mike and Frankie are all the romance the show needs and are by far the best couple. Since I didn't say anything about Mike, I liked him less and less as the seasons progressed, and, like Brick, he needed way better storylines.

Wait, there's season 9 lmao, but what I said still stands.

I feel like once Sue and Sean get together and Sean hears how truly awful Axl was to Sue at times, his friendship with Axl will suffer. Sure, some of the things Axl did were just silly brother-sister things but he literally called her ugly and unloveable so many times, and that must have had an impact on Sue, even if it isn’t portrayed because its a sit-com. It’ll probably affect the way Sue gives and accepts love in her relationship with Sean, and I definitely feel like Sean would eventually come to dislike Axl because of it.
