Never before has a video game told me to "git gud" as severely as Pathologic 2. Why is the intended difficulty ruining my entire life I rly went in blind to this game and thought I'd have a good time đ
#I know you're supposed to have a very bad time playing it#But I literally have been playing day 3 all day bc I keep having to load an earlier save so I won't die#Bc apparently if you die it gets even more difficult????#Don't want that#So either it's hunger that takes me or it's exhaustion#Or it's those random dudes who attack me all of a sudden when things start to get shit#I'm wondering how bad is it gonna be if I go with the easier difficulty#Like ofc I wanna play it as intended but damn đđđ#Pathologic 2

i think the one mistake wit studio made (and the one thing they Were kinda bad at in the beginning) was in showing the younger characters physical growth here
u have the scene where eren, armin and mikasa vow to join the military NEXT YEAR, and then theres the one-year time skip, at the entrance ceremony (and in this scene post-ceremony) wherein theyre supposed to be 12yo, and they look Considerably older than the year before
and then theres the three-year time skip of sorts when they graduate at 15, but they look The Same as when they were 12 lol
i was p confused w this and i Know ive seen other people getting lost in the timeline in part bc of this lol
#maybe they wanted to keep their looks consistent after getting into the military idk#but it looks p weird when u consider that they join the military around the same age gabi and falco currently are#they look so much older at this same point lol#but welp cant complain abt wit much#they made the transition from the attack on shiganshina into the military training and then into the attack on trost much smoother#the mangas pace looks p weird in this bit lol (i reread a bit just now to compare)#isayama cuts away from armin when the colossal kicks the gate in and we only see him again on graduation night LOL#its so sudden how it goes from erens revenge vow in the ship straight into the military graduation#wit Def did it better in this regard so if they got lost in the age a bit its fair#they continue to have a hard time drawing some characters younger up til s3 (hello erwin and reiner)#tho they did a good job showing how the whole younger cast looked a bit older by the time s3 part 2 rolls up#rewatching shingeki no kyojin#mumbling yuzu

The Anatomy of Passing Out: When, Why, and How to Write It
Passing out, or syncope, is a loss of consciousness that can play a pivotal role in storytelling, adding drama, suspense, or emotional weight to a scene. Whether itâs due to injury, fear, or exhaustion, the act of fainting can instantly shift the stakes in your story.
But how do you write it convincingly? How do you ensure itâs not overly dramatic or medically inaccurate? In this guide, Iâll walk you through the causes, stages, and aftermath of passing out. By the end, youâll be able to craft a vivid, realistic fainting scene that enhances your narrative without feeling clichĂ©d or contrived.
2. Common Causes of Passing Out
Characters faint for a variety of reasons, and understanding the common causes can help you decide when and why your character might lose consciousness. Below are the major categories that can lead to fainting, each with their own narrative implications.
Physical Causes
Blood Loss: A sudden drop in blood volume from a wound can cause fainting as the body struggles to maintain circulation and oxygen delivery to the brain.
Dehydration: When the body doesnât have enough fluids, blood pressure can plummet, leading to dizziness and fainting.
Low Blood Pressure (Hypotension): Characters with chronic low blood pressure may faint after standing up too quickly, due to insufficient blood reaching the brain.
Intense Pain: The body can shut down in response to severe pain, leading to fainting as a protective mechanism.
Heatstroke: Extreme heat can cause the body to overheat, resulting in dehydration and loss of consciousness.
Psychological Causes
Emotional Trauma or Shock: Intense fear, grief, or surprise can trigger a fainting episode, as the brain becomes overwhelmed.
Panic Attacks: The hyperventilation and increased heart rate associated with anxiety attacks can deprive the brain of oxygen, causing a character to faint.
Fear-Induced Fainting (Vasovagal Syncope): This occurs when a character is so afraid that their bodyâs fight-or-flight response leads to fainting.
Environmental Causes
Lack of Oxygen: Situations like suffocation, high altitudes, or enclosed spaces with poor ventilation can deprive the brain of oxygen and cause fainting.
Poisoning or Toxins: Certain chemicals or gasses (e.g., carbon monoxide) can interfere with the bodyâs ability to transport oxygen, leading to unconsciousness.
3. The Stages of Passing Out
To write a realistic fainting scene, itâs important to understand the stages of syncope. Fainting is usually a process, and characters will likely experience several key warning signs before they fully lose consciousness.
Pre-Syncope (The Warning Signs)
Before losing consciousness, a character will typically go through a pre-syncope phase. This period can last anywhere from a few seconds to a couple of minutes, and itâs full of physical indicators that something is wrong.
Light-Headedness and Dizziness: A feeling that the world is spinning, which can be exacerbated by movement.
Blurred or Tunnel Vision: The character may notice their vision narrowing or going dark at the edges.
Ringing in the Ears: Often accompanied by a feeling of pressure or muffled hearing.
Weakness in Limbs: The character may feel unsteady, like their legs canât support them.
Sweating and Nausea: A sudden onset of cold sweats, clamminess, and nausea is common.
Rapid Heartbeat (Tachycardia): The heart races as it tries to maintain blood flow to the brain.
Syncope (The Loss of Consciousness)
When the character faints, the actual loss of consciousness happens quickly, often within seconds of the pre-syncope signs.
The Body Going Limp: The character will crumple to the ground, usually without the ability to break their fall.
Breathing: Breathing continues, but it may be shallow and rapid.
Pulse: While fainting, the heart rate can either slow down dramatically or remain rapid, depending on the cause.
Duration: Most fainting episodes last from a few seconds to a minute or two. Prolonged unconsciousness may indicate a more serious issue.
Post-Syncope (The Recovery)
After a character regains consciousness, theyâll typically feel groggy and disoriented. This phase can last several minutes.
Disorientation: The character may not immediately remember where they are or what happened.
Lingering Dizziness: Standing up too quickly after fainting can trigger another fainting spell.
Nausea and Headache: After waking up, the character might feel sick or develop a headache.
Weakness: Even after regaining consciousness, the body might feel weak or shaky for several hours.
4. The Physical Effects of Fainting
Fainting isnât just about losing consciousnessâthere are physical consequences too. Depending on the circumstances, your character may suffer additional injuries from falling, especially if they hit something on the way down.
Impact on the Body
Falling Injuries: When someone faints, they usually drop straight to the ground, often hitting their head or body in the process. Characters may suffer cuts, bruises, or even broken bones.
Head Injuries: Falling and hitting their head on the floor or a nearby object can lead to concussions or more severe trauma.
Scrapes and Bruises: If your character faints on a rough surface or near furniture, they may sustain scrapes, bruises, or other minor injuries.
Physical Vulnerability
Uncontrolled Fall: The characterâs body crumples or falls in a heap. Without the ability to brace themselves, they are at risk for further injuries.
Exposed While Unconscious: While fainted, the character is vulnerable to their surroundings. This could lead to danger in the form of attackers, environmental hazards, or secondary injuries from their immediate environment.
Signs to Look For While Unconscious
Shallow Breathing: The character's breathing will typically become shallow or irregular while theyâre unconscious.
Pale or Flushed Skin: Depending on the cause of fainting, a characterâs skin may become very pale or flushed.
Twitching or Muscle Spasms: In some cases, fainting can be accompanied by brief muscle spasms or jerking movements.
5. Writing Different Types of Fainting
There are different types of fainting, and each can serve a distinct narrative purpose. The way a character faints can help enhance the scene's tension or emotion.
Sudden Collapse
In this case, the character blacks out without any warning. This type of fainting is often caused by sudden physical trauma or exhaustion.
No Warning: The character simply drops, startling both themselves and those around them.
Used in High-Tension Scenes: For example, a character fighting in a battle may suddenly collapse from blood loss, raising the stakes instantly.
Slow and Gradual Fainting
This happens when a character feels themselves fading, usually due to emotional stress or exhaustion.
Internal Monologue: The character might have time to realize something is wrong and reflect on whatâs happening before they lose consciousness.
Adds Suspense: The reader is aware that the character is fading but may not know when theyâll drop.
Dramatic Fainting
Some stories call for a more theatrical faint, especially in genres like historical fiction or period dramas.
Exaggerated Swooning: A character might faint from shock or fear, clutching their chest or forehead before collapsing.
Evokes a Specific Tone: This type of fainting works well for dramatic, soap-opera-like scenes where the fainting is part of the tension.
6. Aftermath: How Characters Feel After Waking Up
When your character wakes up from fainting, theyâre not going to bounce back immediately. There are often lingering effects that last for minutesâor even hours.
Physical Recovery
Dizziness and Nausea: Characters might feel off-balance or sick to their stomach when they first come around.
Headaches: A headache is a common symptom post-fainting, especially if the character hits their head.
Body Aches: Muscle weakness or stiffness may persist, especially if the character fainted for a long period or in an awkward position.
Emotional and Mental Impact
Confusion: The character may not remember why they fainted or what happened leading up to the event.
Embarrassment: Depending on the situation, fainting can be humiliating, especially if it happened in front of others.
Fear: Characters who faint from emotional shock might be afraid of fainting again or of the situation that caused it.
7. Writing Tips: Making It Believable
Writing a fainting scene can be tricky. If not handled properly, it can come across as melodramatic or unrealistic. Here are some key tips to ensure your fainting scenes are both believable and impactful.
Understand the Cause
First and foremost, ensure that the cause of fainting makes sense in the context of your story. Characters shouldnât pass out randomlyâthere should always be a logical reason for it.
Foreshadow the Fainting: If your character is losing blood, suffering from dehydration, or undergoing extreme emotional stress, give subtle clues that they might pass out. Show their discomfort building before they collapse.
Avoid Overuse: Fainting should be reserved for moments of high stakes or significant plot shifts. Using it too often diminishes its impact.
Balance Realism with Drama
While you want your fainting scene to be dramatic, donât overdo it. Excessively long or theatrical collapses can feel unrealistic.
Keep It Short: Fainting typically happens fast. Avoid dragging the loss of consciousness out for too long, as it can slow down the pacing of your story.
Donât Always Save the Character in Time: In some cases, let the character hit the ground. This adds realism, especially if theyâre fainting due to an injury or traumatic event.
Consider the Aftermath
Make sure to give attention to what happens after the character faints. This part is often overlooked, but itâs important for maintaining realism and continuity.
Lingering Effects: Mention the characterâs disorientation, dizziness, or confusion upon waking up. Itâs rare for someone to bounce back immediately after fainting.
Reactions of Others: If other characters are present, how do they react? Are they alarmed? Do they rush to help, or are they unsure how to respond?
Avoid Overly Romanticized Fainting
In some genres, fainting is used as a dramatic or romantic plot device, but this can feel outdated and unrealistic. Try to focus on the genuine physical or emotional toll fainting takes on a character.
Stay Away from ClichĂ©s: Avoid having your character faint simply to be saved by a love interest. If thereâs a romantic element, make sure itâs woven naturally into the plot rather than feeling forced.
8. Common Misconceptions About Fainting
Fainting is often misrepresented in fiction, with exaggerated symptoms or unrealistic recoveries. Here are some common myths about fainting, and the truth behind them.
Myth 1: Fainting Always Comes Without Warning
While some fainting episodes are sudden, most people experience warning signs (lightheadedness, blurred vision) before passing out. This gives the character a chance to notice something is wrong before losing consciousness.
Myth 2: Fainting Is Dramatic and Slow
In reality, fainting happens quicklyâusually within a few seconds of the first warning signs. Characters wonât have time for long speeches or dramatic gestures before collapsing.
Myth 3: Characters Instantly Bounce Back
Many stories show characters waking up and being perfectly fine after fainting, but this is rarely the case. Fainting usually leaves people disoriented, weak, or even nauseous for several minutes afterward.
Myth 4: Fainting Is Harmless
In some cases, fainting can indicate a serious medical issue, like heart problems or severe dehydration. If your character is fainting frequently, it should be addressed in the story as a sign of something more severe.

MASTERLIST
Something about your boyfriend changed the night after Gigantronâs âattackâ on Tokyo Dome. That night, you were supposed to help him fend the kaiju off but he insisted heâd do it on his own.
For some reason, you were glad you did not join in because (1) their fight became a pursuit in the sky, and (2) you could not zoom in the air the same way Ultraman does. The only reason youâre able to fly is because of your wingsâmoth wings on your suit, which would put you at a disadvantage in the case of an air chase.
You were supposed to come over to his place that night to check on him because you were sure that the skirmish had caused more damage to his already injured shoulder. However, your calls were left answered by Mina, telling you that Kenji had already fallen asleep.
Deciding not to disturb him, you simply let him be. But in the days that followed, something surely wasnât right. He couldnât focus on his games, he looked so fatigued and restless all the time, and oh good gracious, there were now dark circles under his eyes.
He just looks so stressed and you were so upset with the fact that he didnât want to tell you whatâs going on with him. The time he got into a fight with the other players was the end of the line for you.
You barged into his house, finding him by his bathtub, in front of a TV, watching the news about him. The usually peaceful atmosphere in his house was now charged with tension as you made your way towards him. At that moment, Kenji was praying so hard the kaiju in his basement would keep still.
He still wouldnât tell you whatâs wrong. âItâs not about us. Itâs aboutâŠâ he said, ââŠsomething bigger. Something Iâm not ready to share yet.â
Your eyes softened at his response, though the ache in your chest remained. You made him promise to talk to you when heâs ready and he agreed. You canât stand seeing the love of your life like that but at the same time, you didnât want to force him to do anything against his will. Taking up Ultraman was already enough of that.
Almost two months, after the incident, he seemed back to his old shape. Better, even. And thank heavens, finally, he could now tell you about what happened.
âThereâs a what below?!â You asked in disbelief. The two of you were standing in front of the elevator and for a moment, you think your ears are playing tricks on you.
âA baby kaiju,â he replied and went on to explain everything. Still in disbelief, you took in everything with a nod. He placed his hand on the small of your back as he guided you into the elevator.
The moment you saw the big pink baby, you gasped. Emi made happy noises as you approached. However, upon noticing you, she suddenly began to cry.
Kenji was tapping on the glass containment in an attempt to shush her. But to no avail, Emi just cried harder.
âIâm sorry, she doesnât know you yet,â Kenji apologized. âBut I assure you, sheâs a sweet big baby.â
Remembering how, at first, Emi only recognized Kenji when he was Ultraman, you decided to try something.
â(Y/n), what are youââ Before Kenji finished, a soft glow enveloped you, and moments later, you emerged in your giant form. Your wings spread wide, shimmering with black patterns and warm tones of yellow and orange.
Emiâs cries slowed, her curiosity piqued by the sudden change. She opened her eyes, sobs turning to soft hiccups as she stared up at you in wonder. Her claws tapped the glass as she reached out, trying to grasp your wings.
Kenji watched in awe as Emiâs distress melted away. âI think itâs working,â he whispered.
âMay I?â You asked, gesturing to the lid of the containment unit. Kenji gave a nod of approval. Carefully, you turned it before lifting it off.
You lowered yourself closer to Emi, your wings fluttering softly as she climbed up her containment. The gentle breeze they created seemed to soothe her further.
Emi let out a delighted squeal, her earlier tears forgotten. She toddled closer to you, her claws gently touching the edge of your wing. She let out a happy chirp, eyes sparkling with joy.
Kenji stepped closer, a relieved smile spreading across his face. âWow, she loves you in this form,â he said.
You smiled down at him. âSheâs just like her dad,â you replied. âShe knows a good thing when she sees it.â
Kenji chuckled before he himself transformed into Ultraman. He sat beside you with Emi in between the two of you.
Your wings gently enveloped Emi in a comforting embrace. She was now calm and happy as she traced the pattern of your wings with her claw.
âGentle, baby,â Kenji said as he rubbed her head.
She continued walking around you and playing with your wings until she tired herself out. She walked in front of you and climbed on your lap, nestling her head on your stomach.
âAwww, baby,â you cooed. You gently picked her up into your arms and gently swayed.
Kenji moved close to you, wrapping an arm around you. You nestled into his arm, head resting on the junction of his neck and shoulders. The three of you slept like that for the night.
The next morning when Emi awoke, she immediately looked for you. Realizing that the moth lady was missing, she cried. Mina was quick to assist her, playing videos of cartoons and Kenji to calm her. To Minaâs surprise, none of them worked.
âWhoâs making my baby cry?â Kenji asked as he approached. He expected her crying to cease once she saw him. However, that is not the case.
âHuh?â He questioned. Emi always calms when she sees him. âMina, try showing her pictures of (y/n).â
Mina did as told and as miraculously as yesterday, Emi stopped crying. âIt seems like she got herself a new mother,â Mina commented.
With Emiâs growing fondness of you, you found yourself frequenting at Kenjiâs house more than ever. She was just so cute; like a live plushie when youâre in your giant form.
âHi babyyyy,â you cooed as you transformed into your giant form. You scooped her up, her head nuzzling against you. Her earlier play was abandoned in favor of your presence.
You walked in on Kenji and Emi playing baseball together. And you didnât mean to interrupt but when you saw her walking towards you, you knew you had to transform.
Kenji smiled at the scene. âShe really loves you, you know,â he said.
You smiled back, feeling a warm glow inside. âI love her too,â you replied. âSheâs such a sweetheart.â
Emi chirped happily as she climbed up your torso and onto your shoulder where she could watch and touch your wings.
Kenji watched the interaction, his smile fading slightly as a twinge of jealousy crept in. His baby kaiju shows a different kind of joy when youâre around.
He loved Emi dearly, but lately, it seemed like she preferred your company over his. He couldnât help but feel a bit sidelined.
âShe really lights up when youâre here,â Kenji said, trying to keep his tone light.
You glanced at him, noticing the slight edge in his voice. âShe lights up when youâre here too, Kenji,â you replied. âShe loves you.â
He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. âI know, but⊠it feels like sheâs more excited to see you than me sometimes.â
You tapped the space on the floor beside you, gesturing for him to switch to Ultraman. Thankfully, he did not resist.
You moved close to him as he sat beside you, his hand finding its way to your thigh. Your head automatically rested on his shoulder.
âYouâre her dad, Kenji,â you said. âShe loves you so much. Maybe sheâs just fascinated by my wings right now.â
You felt Kenji nod, although the jealousy still lingered within him. âYeah, maybe,â he replied. âI just want to be enough for her.â
You leaned back to look at him. Your other hand which was not holding Emi on your shoulder, moved up to hold his face. âYou are enough. Youâre everything to her,â you said. âAnd to me.â
Emi squirmed out of your hand, gently jumping off your shoulder and landing on your lap. She toddled over to Kenji. He looked down at her, his heart melting as she reached up, wanting to be held. He picked her up, and she nuzzled against his chest, purring softly.
âSee?â You asked with a smile. âShe adores you.â
Kenji hugged Emi close, his jealousy fading into thin air. âYeah,â he said. âI guess youâre right.â
You spent the rest of the day playing with Emi, taking turns holding her and making her laugh. By the time evening rolled around, she was content and sleepy in Kenjiâs arms.
Before reverting to your original form, you kissed Emiâs head and then leaned in to kiss Kenji. âIâll be back soon,â you said. âTake care of our little one.â
Kenji smiled, his earlier worries forgotten. âWeâll be here, waiting.â

It's been 3 hours since the switch was randomly flipped in my brain and guess who was fucking right in saying that it will prevent me from falling asleep
#I am neither joking nor diminishing anything by saying that I was literally just chilling#watching youtube#completing my nonogram puzzles#minding my own business#when all of a sudden I got hit with a wave of frustration and self hatred#the kind I usually get when I fail at art or writing#but I wasn't drawing or writing#I wasn't even thinking of drawing or writing. sometimes just thinking is enough but I wasn't doing it#I thought if I just ignored it it'd go away but it didn't#and now it's half past 2 a.m and it looks like I'm having another sleepless night#I'm so fucking tired#it's bad enough that this thing attacks my hobbies and coping mechanisms#to the point I'm seriously considering quitting because of the strain all these breakdowns over writing put on me#but now it's going after me just enjoying a quiet evening??#you're telling me it won't get better even if I abandon the hobbies that were once so dear to me?#what's even the point of anything then#if I can't even sit around doing nothing without feeling like shit#times like this I'm reminded that no matter how much I try to distract myself or convince myself that I'm getting better#I'm still severely mentally ill#and sooner or later I'll lose everything I enjoy doing to it#art and writing was only the first step#how long until I can't do anything anymore but cry and think awful things about myself#and then lose sleep over it because I can never fall sleep after crying#I can never fall asleep anyway but after crying it's even worse#if I didn't have important shit to do I'd skip school tomorrow#no one wants me around when I'm exhausted and easily irritable anyway

based on this and this video :)) this is fluff supply before remarried empress au part 2 is posted~
a part of gojo's love entries
satoru had always thought... you were the perfect mother to his child.
âma...!â
your baby boy, with his white hair and blue eyes full of innocence, was crawling towards you with all his might, and you were on the other side of the bed with open arms, ready to accept him.
âyes, baby, you can do it!â you cheered, a permanent smile on your face, completely adoring satoruâs mini-him as he tried to reach you.
you really are. after all, you were the girl of his dreams first and foremost, who then became the woman he had sworn to protect forever.
âjust a little bit more! aww, my baby is so cute!â
...but hey, since you were his wife above all, weren't you supposed to take care of him too? these days, you seemed to spend all your love on your son⊠and spared him unamused looks whenever he tried to bed you!
satoru observed as his little baby made his way towards you with visible excitement, totally capturing your attention fully. narrowing his eyes in analysis, he devised a plan.
and so, right before his kid could reach you, he immediately went over to your side, scooped up the baby and pecked you in the lips.
âohâ! satoru!â
âdonât i deserve mamaâs attention too...?â he asked, eyes pleading sadly. âhmm?â
ââ? waah!â but before you could react to his sneak attack, your baby son was so startled that his eyes filled up with tears. in that moment, he wrenched away from his father's grasp and hurriedly crawled towards you, seeking comfort in your arms, and you hugged him.
âthere, there...â you almost laughed at this exchange as you patted his little back, sending a wink at satoru. âpoor baby, what has papa done to you, huh?â
satoru pursed his lips in response, directing a slight glare on his baby, who was suddenly calm and smiley as he was smushed against your bosom, looking at him with those wide eyesâas if flaunting his victory.
the little fiend, he thought. iâll show him!
âlisten you...â
and half an hour later, he cornered the boy against the wall, trying to assert his position.
âwe need to share mama. you're taking all. her. time.â satoru emphasized, eyeing his baby with narrowed eyes. the boy looked back at him with clear disinterest, merely blinking.
satoru huffed righteously. âyou gave her severe tummy ache when you were still inside that i had to stay up to soothe you, and now when you're out... you monopolize her love! how is this fair? what am i left with?!â
baby blinked, leaning inquisitively towards him.
âdo you understand me? i need my wife bacâ gyaaah!â
you literally ran out of the kitchen when you heard satoruâs sudden yell, thinking something had happened. âsatoru! whatâs wrongââ
only to arrive at the scene of the most amusing sight imaginable. your husband was on the brink of panic as your baby, with a vengeful expression, chomping down on his nose.
âhe ate my nose! help! HEEELP!â

àŒâ§âË. "Shut up, mom!" prank with JJK men.
â featuring: nanami kento, gojo satoru, geto suguru.
âsynopsis: your child(ren) has a death wish for sure.
ânote: wasn't able to pick a name for nanami's child. also sorry to the anon who sent this, i had a hard time understanding the request at first. anyway, part 2?
àŒâ§âË. reblog + comment!
àŒâ§âË. NANAMI KENTO
âYou need to start learning how to fold your clothes,â you mention casually to your daughter as you carry a basket of warm laundry to the couch.
âWhy would I do that?â Nanamiâs eyes look up from his book, but he doesnât budge.
âWhen you move out, you will only have yourself to rely on,â you continue with the advice and your daughter rolls her eyes as she makes her way to the kitchen.
âUgh moving out this, moving out that. Just say you want to get rid of me.â
âWhatâI would never, Iâm just reminding you that one day you will become an adult andââ
âOh just shut up, mom!âÂ
You truly gave birth to a mini you, a prankster. When you first saw the tiktok trend, you and your daughter had giggled to yourselves at the thought of getting a reaction out of her father. Though, you did warn her of the repercussions. Your husband did not play when it came to showing respect to you.
âI beg your pardon?â Nanami sits up from the couch so fast, it almost makes you jump out of your skin. You donât have time to react, or hold him back before he is storming towards the kitchen where your teenage daughter was hiding. âWhat did you just say to your mother?â
âI said shut up, because she was bothering me.â
âAnd you think thatâs one way to speak to my wife?â You see his eyebrows furrow, he even slams the book he was reading down on the kitchen counter so hard that his arm veins are about to pop out.
âKento,â you walk up behind him, calling out his name softly.
âNo, let me take this.â
âNo baby listenââ
âI said I will take this.â Itâs only when he repeats himself in a stern manner, that your daughter starts to giggle nervously.
âDaddy, it was a prank.â
âYeah, baby itâs a prank.â You rub his shoulders and biceps reassuringly. Your daughter quickly wraps her arms around his waist and buries her face in his chest.
âIâd never be disrespectful like that.â
âYeah well, it almost gave me a heart attack,â his voice is now much softer and warmer as he exhales, running his fingers through his daughterâs hair. He pulls you towards him and kisses your forehead before patting his daughterâs head.
âNow, whose idea was it?â
âMommyâs.â
âHey!âÂ
àŒâ§âË. GOJO SATORU
âHey Ryuu, could you take out the trash please?âÂ
âNo, Iâm busy.â Satoruâs ears perk up at the sound of his sonâs tone. But he doesnât budge from where heâs standing in the kitchen.
âBaby, itâs been sitting there all day and itâs full. Could you pleaseââ
âShut up, mom. I said Iâm busy.â
Normally, Satoru wasnât easy to rile up. His relationship with his son was hilarious, one where he doted on his child whilst the latter pretended as though he couldnât stand all the love and affection he received from his dad. But despite all the love that Satoru had for his son, you were number one. You come first, you are his wife and the mother of his child. When his son will leave, you will be the one he gets to spend the rest of his time withâand when he decided to marry you, a child wasnât even in the picture.
So he will be damned if he was just going to stand there and let his son talk to you like that.
You freeze when you feel a sudden surge of cursed energyâyou knew your husband when he got angry, it clouded over the rational part of his brain. So when you see him start to walk upstairs where his son is, you have to physically grab his arm to stop him. Thank god the infinity was off.
âSatoruâ toru! Baby!â
âWho the fuck does he think he is, huh?â His eyes are glowing. You really shouldnât have played this prank on him.
âItâs a prank baby.âÂ
âA prank?â Itâs fascinating how this man can go from 0 to 100 back to 0 so quickly. He calms down so fast, glancing at the top of the stairs where he sees his son standing with his hands in his pockets.
âI told her it would be a bad idea.â
âIâhey! I didnât think it was gonna be this bad,â
âI did,â Ryuu starts to walk down the stairs and past you two. âHeâs said it before. He doesnât play when it comes to people showing you respect, even if itâs his own son.âÂ
Satoru can only sigh at his sonâs words before staring at you. âDonât do that again.â
âI wonâtâŠBut I wonât lie, seeing you riled up like thatââ
âIâm too old to have a sibling!â
àŒâ§âË. GETO SUGURU
Your girls were a giggly mess. You shush them before saying very loudly.
âIn what world is this acceptable?âÂ
âMom,â your daughter, Tsukimi, feigns an annoyed tone, refusing to look up from her phone. âI really donât care.â
âBut I do.â You stand over her bed, motioning for her twin sister to get into the role as well.
âDoes it matter?â Asahi uses the same annoyed, bored tone. One that quickly catches Suguruâs attention. He walks into the main area from the garage before hearing the argument upstairs.Â
Quickly wiping his hands with the dirty rag attached to his pants, he starts to make his way up to your twin daughtersâ room to see what it was about.Â
âOf course it does, Iâm your mother.â
âYouâre really just pushing it.â
âYou sneaked out last night! Do you know how disappointed your father will be?â Suguru freezes up at the revelation. But he doesnât let his disappointment or anger get the best of him, maybe the four of you can work this outâyour girls were at a rebellious age, this was bound to happen and all he needs to do is figure out a way for all of you to get along withoutâ
âArenât you supposed to be our best friend or something?â Tsukimi sits up on the bed, furrowing her eyebrows in a way that reminds you how similar her and her fatherâs features are.Â
âRight now Iâm your mother.âÂ
âOh would you just shut up?â
A loud slam makes the three of you flinch, and you turn to find Suguru standing by the door looking as angry as a raging bull.
âWho said it.â
âWhaââ
âWho said it. Who was it?â He is so furious you could see steam coming out from the top of his head. âHave you lost your fucking minds to be talking to your mother like that? Did I fail at educating you or what?â
âSuguruââ
âNo,â he puts a hand on your shoulder, gently pushing you out of the room. âI need to talk to them.â
âNo wait, listenââ
âI donât want to hear it.â When you see that he had a stern look on his face, you realize that you need to save your daughters from the prank.
âIt was a prank. I promise you.âÂ
âIt really was a prank,â your twin daughters are sitting on the same bed, looking as sheepish and as guilty as ever.Â
âAnd it was my idea,â Tsukimi adds.Â
âAnd I didnât stop her.â Your thumbs trace his cheeks, smiling apologetically at him. âSorry,âÂ
Suguru sighs, resting his hands on his hips as he shakes his head.
âFucking prankters. That almost gave me a heart attack.â
âBut admit it, weâre good actresses, right?â Asahi asks with a grin and Suguru chuckles before ruffling her hair.
âYeah, you sure are.â

So This Is Love

aka you show each other what love is supposed to be like
4 in 1 blurbs
warnings: section 1: close-call panic attack for j, mentions of ptsd for j // section 2: implied sexual activity // section 3: mild angst w comfort // section 4: implied ptsd for j
He feels like his heart might burst through his chest.
The nightmare wasnât anything unusual for him, but it did feel particularly vivid tonight. It was more of a memory than anything, though. That same one that plays on a loop in his head throughout the night the more he tries to push it away during the day. It was the last thwack of the crowbar that had him jolt awake in bed.
You shift in your spot next to him, opening your eyes to see his rattled state. If heâd been in a clearer frame of mind he wouldâve lied to you. He wouldâve expertly leveled his breathing and told you everything was fine and to go back to sleep.
But instead, he looks over at you with wide eyes, chest heaving and shaking like he might start hyperventilating at any moment.
You shoot up from the bed, instantly on alert. This isnât the first time heâs had one of these nightmares around you, so itâs not hard for you to guess where this is coming from.
âJay? Whatâsâwhat do you need?â You know better than to try and touch him unprompted right now, youâve panicked enough yourself to know that sudden contact only makes it worse.
âIâI canât, Iââ Now he really looks like heâs about to lose all control of his breathing.
You sit up further, moving onto your knees. âHere, let meâcan I see your hand?â you ask gently, holding your own out.
He extends it to you without question, a tiny act of vulnerability that he couldnât have dreamed of doing in this state before he met you.
You flip his hand over, palm-up and start tracing lines over it in the moonlight. Youâre looking at his hand quite intently like thereâs something very important on it. Itâs enough to make him question what the hell youâre doing.Â
âI can read palms.â You tell him, simply.Â
âWhat?â His voice almost breaks, like heâs right at the edge of tears.Â
âYeah, my friend taught me. I can tell the future and everything.â You look up at him, fingers not stopping their trailing. âDo you wanna hear yours?â
All he can do is nod.
You smile and start to inspect his hand carefully, tracing over calluses and a few tiny scars. You draw your finger across the short, deep line parallel to his fingers.
âThis oneâŠsee the way it curves upwards right there?â He nods. âThat means youâre very resourceful and ambitious. Like a leader.â His breathing starts to slow as he watches you, trying to focus on what youâre showing him in the dim light from the window.
âAnd this one,â you trace the line that curves downwards in the middle, âThis one says that youâre strong and stubborn, which I can confirm,â he huffs out a laugh. Itâs little but itâs genuine. âBut it also means that youâre resilient. Youâre built to overcome things and bounce back even stronger because of them. Which I can also confirm.â
He leans forward, resting his forehead against yours. He takes in a deep breath, watching you draw patterns across the base of his palm.
The sensation soothes him in a way that he frankly didnât know he could be soothed. He figures he usually canât, except when itâs you. He tries to match your breathing, syncing up with you. If anyone else tried to get this close to him when he was on the verge of a panic attack theyâd get punched, at best.
But youâŠyou always know how to help him. Heâs considered in the past that he did something really right somewhere down the line and you were sent to him as reward. Heâd racked his mind for hours of every good thing heâd ever done, trying to find one that could explain your presence in his life. For anything that could explain why he deserved you. He poured and poured over every memory he could dig up but couldnât find any good heâd ever done that surmounted to a single piece of the good in your heart.
There was a time when he wouldâve thoughtâwhen he did think that you were only in his life to be taken away as soon as he felt safe. That would certainly be in line with previous experiences. But you showed him quickly that you have this way about youâŠit makes those loud thoughts in the back of his head shut up and just listen. Listen to your words, your breathing, your footsteps, your laughâŠanything he could. Because it turns out, when he listens, he feels safe.Â
Heâs quiet for a long time, contentedly watching you work. He notices that at some point youâd stopped tracing the lines and began drawing designs instead.Â
He breaks the silence after several minutes, softly commenting, âYou donât know how to read palms.â
âNo, I do not.âÂ
But you continued to leave your invisible art on the palm of his hand just the same, both of you taking comfort in the sound of the other's breathing and the soothing feeling of each otherâs skin.
The radio plays lightly in the background, surrounding your night with soft ambience. Youâre working at the cutting board with tomatoes as Jason leans against the counter next to you, having just finished getting the pasta set up on the stove.
His hands find your hips, resting them there as he watches you work over your shoulder.
âWatch your thumb.â He comments when the knife gets a little too close for his liking.
You shrug him off, âI know how to do it.â
He eyes the way the knife stutters as you cut through the tomato, slicing through not very cleanly at all. âDoesnât look like it.â
You ignore him, elbowing him gently in the abdomen. Heâs joking, but heâs not. The skill level youâre displaying is only above Bruce and slightly below Tim, which is not great.
âWill you let me do it?â he asks you when he realizes thereâs going to be no improvement.Â
âFine.â You relent with faux annoyance.Â
You switch over to the stovetop, keeping a careful eye on the pasta as it cooks. Itâs quiet for a moment as he works, chopping with much more efficiency than you had. Â
âYou didnât have to stay here tonight, you know.â You say quietly, still intently watching the stove.
In spite of the music, your low volume does nothing to faze him as he continues his actions, âWhy wouldnât I?â
You stir the contents of the saucepan around. âWell, I know Roy wanted you to go outâŠâ
âNot missing much.â He mumbles, opening up the above cabinet to get out plates.
You lull your head to the side, âCome on, heâs your best friend.â
Jason frowns. âHeâs not my best friend.â
You turn your head towards him, âNo?â
He meets your gaze, frown consistent. âNo. You are.â He says it like heâs confused that you donât know that.Â
âOh.â You smile, âYouâre my best friend too.â
His eyes soften at that, a light smile gracing his lips. He knew that, and he knew youâd say it, but hearing it out loud justâŠdoes something to him.
You flick the stove top off, prompting him to on instinct reach for the Marinara jar and crack it open for you. He hands it to you and you accept with a smile, twisting it open the rest of the way as you turn back to the stove. The jar sputters as you open, spitting out sauce.   Â
âOh, shit.â You hiss, when the splatter hits your shirt.
He takes one glance at the mess on your shirt and pulls his own shirt off his back. Heâs tugging yours off just as fast, replacing it with his. Youâve barely processed what happened as he scans your body, eyes lingering on where his shirt stops at your thighs. âCan you wear this to bed tonight?â He asks, hands running over your waist.
You laugh, âReally?â
He meets your eyes, face serious. âYes.â He squeezes your hip, âYou look good.â
âIn your shirt.â You say with a knowing smile.
âIn my shirt.â He confirms.
You turn back to the stove to dish out the salsa, his hands skimming around your thighs as you do. He watches you as you work, though rather than watching your hands heâs fixated on the size of his shirt over you and how fucking good you look right now.Â
âOrâŠâ He sweeps his eyes over your legs before looking back up at you again. âDidâya turn the stove off?â
You tilt your head at him, âI didâŠ?â
He grins at you, lifting you up by your thighs til youâre a head above him. âGood.â He maneuvers you over to the counter, setting you on top. He brings your wrist up to his mouth to press a delicate kiss before dropping to his knees.
Youâve been laying in bed for at least three hours, bordering on sleep but never quite falling in. You and Jason had a little spat, though nothing insurmountable, it was still the biggest fight youâve had to date. Youâd tried going out (at night) to see your friend that was having a hard time, and yeah, you shouldâve told Jason you were going. It was only five blocks, give or take, but in Gotham at eleven oâclock at night, itâs a risk to say the least.
You shouldâve told Jason, you know. But he wouldnât have let you go or wouldâve insisted on putting hold on patrolling to accompany you. You always feel bad when he does thatâpeople could be getting hurt somewhere because you needed your boyfriend to walk you down the street. Unfortunately, it didnât matter in the end because he caught you red handed before youâd even made it a full block away. Of all the nights for him to come home early, it had to be this one.
He dropped down from the rooftop behind you and scared the absolute hell out of you, and you didnât even have time to be relieved that it was just him because he was on you in a flash.Â
âWhat the hell are you doing out here?â His voice was hard through the modulator, a rare tone for him to use with you.
âI justâmy friendââ he sounded tired and angry, sure signs that heâd really not had a good night so far which was probably all the more reason that you shouldnât have been out by yourself in the middle of the night.
âWhat are youâno! Go home. Now.â You wouldâve, you really wouldâve, but your friend called you crying about her boyfriend cheating on her again and she needed the in person support.Â
âJaââ Youâd cut yourself off, âItâs down the street, itâs fineââ He dropped his shoulders in a huff and faced you dead-on. You didnât need him to take his helmet off to know exactly how he was looking at you.
He dropped down and hooked his arm around the back of your legs, lifting you off the ground with no discernible effort. âWhaââ
He started walking before you were even fully planted on his shoulder, arm wrapping around your legs to hold you in place.Â
âHood! I am so fucking serious, put me down!â You swatted at his back and struggled in his grip, though in the back of your mind you knew it was a pointless effort. Even if you were a match in size, whatever mood heâd been pushed in was enough to guarantee that you had no chance.Â
He ignored you, not even pretending that you were giving him any difficulty with your squirming. He marched you back down the block to your apartment, not stopping until youâre outside your door. He set you down in between him and the entrance, digging into his pocket for his key.
He kicked the door shut behind him, finally letting you go. He wordlessly grabbed one of his spare guns and two cartridges of ammo from inside the closet by the door and turned back to you with a firm stance. âStay here.â
You immediately tried to push past him again, at that point more angry about him dragging you back here than about having to duck out on your friend. He stopped you, holding you by the arms, which led you to respond by raising your voice at him, âJason!âÂ
But he didnât waste any time letting you know how it is, âI will lock you in this fucking apartment. Stay. Here.â Him cursing at you like that was very rare and not a particularly good sign, so through your anger youâd made the decision that it was better to relent, for now. Your posture dropped and you frowned at him resentfully, a visible cue that you were giving in without you having to say it.Â
He stayed true to his word and locked the door on his way out, though knowing you could easily unlock it from the inside. Youâd trudged into your bedroom, slamming the door behind you.  Â
Now you lay on Jasonâs usual side of the bed, partially because you do miss him, partially because the bed feels a little less empty when you canât see all the empty space. You know he was just trying to keep you safe after what was probably a rough start to the night, so you feel less than great that youâd yelled at him.
Your dwelling over the memory is interrupted by a quiet creak of the bedroom door. You blink up at him blearily, âJay?â You sit up, furrowing your brow. You didnât even hear him come home. âWhatâs wrong?â You figure he must be hurt to come in hereâitâs not unknown for him to sleep on the couch if he feels like he did something wrong or upset you.  Â
Your eyes attempt to adjust to the darkness, scanning over him for any injuries. Heâs out of his armor and in his regular clothes which means he must have showered already. And you know from dozens of nights patching him up that he always tends to his injuries before showering.
This leaves you confused, as you look up at him, waiting for an answer. âI canâtâŠI donât want to sleep without you.â He whispers, eyes on the floor.Â
You shuffle back into your usual spot near the wall and hold your hand out to him expectantly. Youâre still a bit cross with him, but you miss him too much to care right now.
It takes him a second to move, but he eventually lingers away from the door and makes his way to the bed. He takes your hand as he climbs onto the bed, letting go only when you lay down after him, staring up at the ceiling next to him.Â
You werenât entirely expecting him to wrap his arms around you and tug you into his chest. Somewhere in the back of your mind youâd assumed he would lay on his side and you on yours and that would be enough for him to fall asleep with. Instead, he tightens his arms and buries his face into the crook of your neck. You lay there in silence for a couple minutes, both thinking.
âYouâre mad.â He mumbles into your shoulder after a while. You know he feels badly about the dispute, you knew it while it was still happening. As hard as he tries, heâs not very good at hiding his emotions. Not with you, anyways.
You shrug slightly. âBarely. Iâll get over it. This is more important.â
He picks his head up to look at you, âI love you. You know that?â
You wiggle out of his grip a bit, making him frown. You use the new space to flip over to face him, before placing his arm back around your waist. You peek up at him, looking him in the eyes, âI do. You know I love you. Even when we fight.â
He looks at you like heâs a bit thrown off by your words. âIâm sorry. It was justâŠit was a rough nightâŠIâIâm sorry.â He tells you dolefully. Â
You shake your head, frowning. âDonât be. I shouldâve texted you.â
âItâyeah. Please. I just worry about you.â He looks so sad and it makes you feel somehow worse.
âI know,â you whisper, âIâm sorry.â Â
âDonât be.â He kisses your forehead, not moving away after.
You feel like you can finally relax and your tense body doesnât take long to slacken in his hold. Soon after, he does the same, both of you closing your eyes. You feel your heart slow and your mind starts to find a space of peace.   Â
Jason didnât get it at first.
Honestly, he didnât really realize that you noticed things about him that even he didnât see.
Your neighbor was having their place remodeled and you knew there would be construction going on near your apartment all day.
Jason didnât really care, planning to bury his head under the pillow and trying to sleep through it. You however, seemed very adamant about getting out of the apartment that day. Youâd left hours before the construction crew had even gotten there, telling him it was a nice day out.
It was an alright day, but he let you have your way.
You held his hand as you walked down the street, looking into shop windows and commenting on things you think heâd like.
You led him into a book store excitedly, telling him about how the author heâd been binging had just published something new. He didnât even know that.
You were browsing the sections, flipping through books as you went. You peered across the shop at a kid holding an absolutely massive pile of books, who was clearly struggling to keep them in his arms.
His mother tried to help him but he shook his head and strided away independently, albeit very slowly. The weight of the books though, did get the best of him, and you could tell by the quivering in his arms that he was going to drop them.
âLoud noise.â You said quickly, seemingly out of the blue. Jason turned to you, confused, before seeing the stack the books splat flat onto the ground. It was indeed a loud noise.
He tilts his head at you, though youâre still busy watching the little boy as he throws his head back in frustration.
âWhat was that?â
You look at him, âHe dropped his books.â
âYeah, I saw. But whyââ
His question gets cut off by the kid bursting into tears, wailing. You turn back to look at him, your gaze getting caught by the new book youâd been telling him about. âOoh!â
You grab his hand and pull him over with you, smiling widely when you have the book in your hands. The sight of you makes him feel so warm so fast that he forgets about the odd interaction all together.
A couple hours later, you sit outside a cafe and eat lunch together, his back to the road, you sitting diagnal to him.
Heâs telling you about the shit Damian got in trouble for at school last week, holding your hand with his right hand and eating with his left.
âHe thinks heâs not going to get expelled for pulling shit like that every other week, itâs ridiculous.â He says, tossing his napkin down on the table.
Your smile is wavers as your eyes move past his shoulder looking down the block before widening, âCarââ
The sudden noise startles him enough to make him visibly jump, hand flying to where his holster would be. He looks over at the fender bender, shoulders relaxing.
He turns back to you to find your eyes looking far more worried than they should. You seem to be scanning his face, looking for something and heâs about to ask you whatâs wrong when it sinks in.
He does get scared by unexpected loud sounds, doesnât he? He never really thinks of it until it happens, but his mind is trained to expect gunshots or crowbars making impact.
It doesnât happen often, but it noticeably takes a little piece out of him when it does.
âYouâŠâ he tries, but falters. Heâs not even sure heâs processing this right.
Heâs never seriously tried to fathom that you love him half as much as he loves you, though love doesnât feel like a strong enough word. He lives and breathes for you, youâve become a lifeline heâd been stranded without for most of his life. But now you're here and youâre everything, youâre in his head all the time, in every emotion he feels.
He thinks heâs here for you, that he was brought back from the dead because of you. You canât possibly understand how much his heart is full of you, he doesnât understand it himself.
He knows you love him, heâs gotten that through his head. But he canât get a grasp on the idea that heâs equally matched in the who loves who the most battle.
Do you really care that much about him to go out of your way to keep track of things that might startle him? He knows thereâs a million things about you that are in the back of his mind at any given time, but surely you donât operate that same way with him?
Do you?
Thereâs this burning in his heart that aches and it only gets stronger when he sees you looking at him like that. So genuine. With care, with love.
He squeezes your hand, âI love you. More than anything.â
The look on your face sinks back into that sweet, adorable look that heâs so used to and it makes him want to scream.
You smile that bright smile and it sends his heart rocketing into oblivion. âI love you.â You squeeze his hand back, âMore than everything.â
He feels like his heart might burst through his chest.

ok âall vi needed to do was call caitlyn cupcake to make her turn on ambessaâ is a fun little bit that i will participate in but i really feel like itâs contributing to two major misconceptions/complaints:
1. that caitlynâs heel turn was sudden, and
2. that vi and caitlyn have reconciled
so letâs break that down, shall we
1. every single hint was there that caitlyn was chafing against ambessaâs regime and doing every little thing in her power to resist without putting herself and her loved ones at great risk. from the first scene with maddie - hell, the opening montage - you can tell cait is fucking EXHAUSTED. weary. thatâs a woman who has spent months suffocating, doing desperate damage mitigation when put into an impossible situation. she didnât want the mantle of leadership, and what was she going to do, say no and let someone worse take it? so sheâll take it. sheâll ban the use of solitary confinement cells. sheâll argue against ambessaâs soldiers attacking civilians. sheâs in too deep to really do much else.
additionally, there are hints that sheâs been planning on ways to take down ambessa for months. that one scene with dialogue over them sparring is literally there to symbolize how every single conversation between them is a battle, both of them looking for openings, and no matter how hard caitlyn tries ambessa always seems to come out on top. you also donât just come up with the plan she did entirely on the fly - tracking things like guard rotations is something only a schemer does.
2. sure, âcupcakeâ is a fun little pet name, but itâs so much more than that. the most obvious is an olive branch. vi doesnât want to hurt caitlyn. thereâs so much affection still there.
the bigger thing, though, and the thing i believe caitlyn is reacting to there, is itâs a sign of distance. vi used âcupcakeâ as a way to needle at caitlyn when they first met, when she didnât quite trust her even though sheâd broken her out of prison. after that, we hear her use it twice more in s1: on the bridge during their parting hug, and after the council meeting as sheâs trying to leave. both instances where she, in that moment, believes theyâre never going to see each other again, and so she has a vested interest in creating that distance. on the other hand, we hear her use caitlynâs name after she hears the gunshot on the bridge, in a moment of genuine fear and affection.
come s2, vi doesnât use âcupcakeâ at all in act 1. she used âcaitâ a lot. still a nickname, but also caitlynâs actual name - i know you, i see you, i care about you. caitlynâs observant enough to notice this, even passively, even if she didnât realize it until she heard âcupcakeâ months later, but i canât help but feel like she takes that nickname as a sign of how theyâve drifted. she feels like she has to start over again with this woman she clearly loves. the meaning is clear to her: i wonât hurt you unless you give me a reason to, iâll work with you if thatâs what you need, but iâm not going to let myself get close to you just yet.
