18. What embarrasses them? Salvadore: Not as much as one might think. He is relatively hard to discompose. When someone misbehaves in ways irritating to him, he more often reacts calmly and condescendingly and turns the tables to humiliate them if he can. Also, as those not knowing him well might not be aware of: He has a dark sense of humor and a weakness for certain kinds of pranks in case someone pulls them cleverly. He also enjoys (and returns) witty remarks aimed to tease. If things get too over the top silly, he may lose interest and go back to work, though, unless you manage to bring him into a silly mood too and this only happens in private settings and with the people he allows close in a specific way. He’s not bothered by sexual innuendos, doesn't hesitate to use harsher language than usual when a situation requires it, and has no problems withstanding unpleasant tension – he may even enjoy it, should the other person struggle with it. To embarrass him, you need his trigger points. Find something he does not know about a topic important to him (hard) and show that he lacks information. Alternatively, ruin one of his plans / speeches / meetings / whatever so he looks incompetent without giving him a chance to save the situation. Or make fun of him in a way that actually bothers him for this reason or that. Of course, if you want to go all in and aren’t scared to cause worse than simple embarrassment (while embarrassment, humiliation even, will absolutely be part of it), there are other options too: Mock him with the things his brother did to him when he was a child in case you found out about it. Or be good enough to take away his control, overpower him physically (or by using magic), and make him feel helpless. Or bring him into a situation without his usual means where he can’t ask for support as a quit pro quo but actually has to beg for help (he may not do that though and rather dies). Rowley: Nothing. Nothing at all. That’s the problem with him. He is entirely shameless and only ever plays with the embarrassment of others. Eneas: It’s hard to embarrass Eneas. He went through too much that required him to get rid of all pride in certain moments. It taught him that pride usually serves little purpose. He doesn’t have the slightest problem to bow or kneel or to say whatever gets him what he wants or needs. When he’s attacked in a way he can’t immediately escape, he switches into a calm but submissive role, not challenging the strength of the opponent until the very moment he sees the opportunity to disarm or kill them with one single counter strike (figuratively or literally). Superficial insults and provocations? Childish, they won’t cause much at all. The only embarrassment happening to him here and there is secondhand embarrassment when people act in ways he considers overly blunt, annoying, disgusting, or just unpleasant. Cian is prideful but can swallow his pride if he truly must to achieve his goals or if has no choice left. Nonetheless, he feels intense embarrassment when it comes to it.

He hates it to be ungraceful and tries to always stay in control over himself. It also strongly embarrasses him to make a mistake and to be witnessed before he can resolve it or if someone catches him not knowing something he’s supposed to know in his opinion. He needs to be perceived as smart and independent at all times or it might kill him. Connected to this, Cian is absolutely terrible at asking for help and would rather struggle all alone than go through the humiliating process of showing that he failed or needs a supporting hand in it.

lando is smiling subconsciously as you ramble on about your adventures, just as you have ever since he picked you up from the club. his fingers help you slip out of your heels – not that you even seem to understand what's going on, way too focused on speaking – before one of his hands lands on your waist. he takes a deep breath to keep his composure and hold back the laughter threatening to burst from his chest at your continuous gibberish, before he guides you to his bedroom with soft touches. he chuckles quietly at the way you almost take the wrong turn and end up in his kitchen, too engaged in your storytelling to remember the layout of his apartment. he isn't surprised, though, because;

alcohol always makes you blabber.

in most situations, you're not the most talkative, preferring to choose your moments to speak with great care. but when you start to get tipsy, it is like you are the world's greatest extrovert. even after getting just a little alcohol in your system, you talk to anyone with ears, somehow assuming that they're really interested in whatever you're ranting about.

thankfully, if you have your friends around, they usually drag you away by your arm, apologizing to the poor stranger to whom you've over-explained the storyline of your favorite movie.

lando learned about this side effect of your drinking early on in your relationship. on your third date, after sharing a few drinks at a local bar, you wouldn't shut up for half an hour, not giving him a second to interject with anything. he'd been surprised, but mostly confused, until he got your text message the following morning: oh my god, i did it... didn't i?

he'd tried to pretend he didn't know what you meant, wanting to put it all behind you, but you'd persisted. i didn't shut up. i never do when i drink. i'm sorry :(

lando was always one to be quick to forgive and forget, not wanting you to feel too bad. everyone does some questionable things when drunk, and he'd seen tons of people act worse than you did. but after that date, there would be uncountably many more occasions of you not being able to hold back when booze was in the picture. award shows, drinking games at home with friends, podium celebrations. once, he even found you outside a club after a race, sitting on the curb with one of your hands petting a stray dog as your other helped you explain the meaning of life. safe to say, he is used to your habits by now.

so tonight, when he picked you up from your night out with a few of your friends, he wasn't surprised that your mouth didn't shut once during the trip back to his apartment. you were excitedly telling him about the people you'd met and the drinks you'd had, so eager to explain every detail to your boyfriend when you were getting into the car that you forgot about everything around you and he had to lean across the console to put on your seatbelt for you.

most of the time, he finds your habit endearing. but sometimes, like right now, it gets just a little tiresome.

"and then, when jamie came around, she was like, what are you doing?, and i was like, i'm just having some fun!"

you're both sitting on the edge of his bed by now, after lando's helped you change into something more comfortable for the night, your mouth still running like you're one of the gilmore girls. you don't even flinch when his hands reach for your cheeks and he stares intently in your eyes – but he can't do anything other than smile.

lando loves your voice. he loves it when you're whispering something in his ear when you're out with friends, when you're ranting to him about some stupid coworker, and maybe especially when you're moaning and whining his name.

but now, he reckons you've talked enough for today. your vocal cords must be sore, and his ears are about to fall off, so it's time to call it a night – and he only sees one way to shut you up.

mid-sentence, lando leans in, pressing his lips to yours. he swallows the yelp you let out in surprise, one of his hands gliding to the back of your neck to keep you close. it doesn't take long for you to relax into the kiss, your lips moving with his while your hands reach for the neckline of his hoodie.

it's so easy to get lost in kissing lando. when he parts the kiss, you find yourself wanting to seal your lips again, already missing the feeling. your mind is now completely blank; all you can think of is the kiss. the man beside you laughs at your hazy expression, utterly amused by how you're suddenly quiet for more than five seconds (something he's sure hasn't happened yet tonight).

when you slowly open your eyes, the very content look on lando's face makes something click in your mind. he sudden kiss, his big grin...

"was i rambling again?"

the silence that follows gives you your answer, and you throw your head back as you let out a little groan. "hey, don't worry about it."

"i really didn't mean to. you know how it is, it just happens, and i don't really feel it as it happens, you know? it's just, the alcohol, it's not my intention. i actually told sarah today that-"

and for the second time, lando pulls you into him, quieting you down with his own lips. this time, as you (for the most part) understand what he's doing, you can't help but giggle into the kiss. your boyfriend matches your smile, taking your bottom lip between his teeth as a joking warning. he lets it flop back against your teeth as he pulls away to look at you again, but you've already lunged forward, head resting against his shoulder.

"i'm sorry," you start, nuzzling your nose into the crook of his neck. "i really am."

his arms snake around your waist before he leans back against the bed, pulling you down with him and into his side. "don't be," he answers, one of his hands reaching up to the back of your head, stroking your hair. "it's cute. you're cute." you continue hiding in his skin and he makes himself more comfortable in bed, pulling the blanket over you both. "we'll talk more tomorrow, okay?"

he feels you shake your head. "i'm done talking. i've talked enough. you know those tiktok videos where you only have a certain amount of words you're allowed to say every year? that's me. i've run out of words, i used them all today."

"oh yeah, i can tell," lando chuckles, pressing his lips to the top of your head. "close your eyes, baby. tell me about those tiktok videos tomorrow."

"didn't you hear me? i said no more words. i won't talk tomorrow because-"

Because you went from wearing your school uniform every day to all these wacky and “bold” fashion statements as if it were nothing. 

It started off with things like that and then it went to glasses. And now it’s full-blown mismatched yet stylish outfits. 

“Where in Merlin’s name are you finding all of these things?” Sebastian would ask. He was completely puzzled. 

And of course, you were happy to answer! 

“I got this in Irondale—Oh and this one is from a random chest in the middle of the forbidden forest!” You’d explain happily. 

“Oh, and this one I got from your neighbor's house in Feldcroft.” 

“What??” 

“Forget I said anything about that.” 

But soon, he looks forward to seeing what wacky combination of clothing you decide to wear. It makes showing up to his first class a lot more interesting and a lot more fun. 

Ominis: 

Obviously, since he can’t see, he doesn’t know about all your outrageous fashion choices. 

But, regardless of the fact that he can’t see. Ominis is a man of fashion. He likes to keep clean, he likes his clothes to match, and the colors to coordinate. 

So when he hears from Sebastian that you keep showing up to class wearing some “interesting” items together, he’s a bit curious. 

He usually likes to “see” through touch, so he runs his hands down the materials of your clothing. 

“W-What is this? What even is this? Where did you get it?” 

You shrugged. “Just found it while running around.” 

“Do these colors even match? I have a feeling they don’t match.” He said, his brows furrowing. “Does it look atrocious? Please say it doesn’t.” 

His hands make their way up towards his face and he accidentally pricks his fingers on the spiky “lizard-like” glasses you decided to wear. “What is this– OW! What are you even wearing??” 

This obviously sends you into an absolute fit of giggles before you apologize for not telling him about that before. 

Even though he highly questions your taste in fashion, he really is just glad you enjoy what you’re doing. 

Garreth: 

Garreth is a goofy guy, we all know this. 

It pretty much comes with the Weasley name. 

So when he sees you walking in with the most wacky, mismatched, laugh-inducing outfit, he busts out laughing. Obnoxiously loud.

He takes great joy in seeing what you’re wearing every day. He knows you’re obsessed with all of the items you find and therefore, he’s obsessed with them too. 

You’ll tell him every item that's your favorite or tell him about a new one you found in some random place. 

(Although he didn’t want to hear about the one you found in the Forbidden Forest near the spider caves. That he could miss out on) 

And before he knows it, suddenly he’s sitting in class, wearing your wacky lizard glasses that you had just put on him, stifling a laugh. 

Professor Ronen gets a laugh out of it. He loves seeing his students have fun and get along so well. 

Professor Sharp, however, just looks down and shakes his head. But in all honesty, he thinks it's rather silly. 

But Garreth is 100% invested in this and 100% unashamed.

Well, needless to say, he is very confused. 

Where do you keep getting these things?? Why the interesting pairings?? Do you do it on purpose or did your parents never teach you how to dress? He really doesn’t know and he’s just trying to come up with a logical explanation to it like he always does. 

He finally works up the courage to ask and you just say that you really like dressing up like this. And you say it with a big smile on your face. 

And that’s when he finally understands that you just really enjoy doing stuff like this! 

And suddenly, it all just makes sense. And obviously, if it makes you happy, he wants you to know he’s interested in it. 

He’ll ask you random but oddly specific questions about what you’re wearing, or where you got them, and he’ll sit and listen to every story you tell about how you found each item.

It’s quite the stark contrast to see him all neat with his clean school uniform then you sitting next to him in a tattered, old pointy hat, wacky glasses, and an outfit adorned with a clashing scarf. 

But hey, it makes you happy. Therefore it makes him happy.

I: Yeah, very true. Crazy Rich Asians was a complete hit. Anyways, congratulations! I just have a few questions for you.

A: Ooh, okay!

I: Alright. What is your favourite Asian snack?

A: Definitely boba. Does that count?

I: Haha, sure. What was your favourite scene to film?

A: Um, I think anything that was in the nature. I love B.C..

I: What was your go to entertainment on set?

A: (laughs, and flushes slightly) I watched a lot of Formula 1 and 2 on set. I got to go to the Monaco Grand Prix like what, four months ago? It was super fun.

I: Would you like to go again?

A: Well, yeah, of course! It's Formula 1, who wouldn't want to go? (smiles and shrugs)

I: Well, if anyone wants to sponsor her...

A: (looks and points at camera) You heard it here! (giggles)

I: Thanks for your time Aubrey, enjoy the night.

AUBREY YANG'S DIRECTING DEBUT

Aubrey Yang, Hollywood's sweetheart at age 18, announces her directing debut with short film Pelt, a coming-of-age story discovering the complexities of femininity and identity. Attending New York University as a film and classics student since age 16, the former of her majors is coming to use as this film started off as a finals project.

"It's so crazy," Yang tells us over coffee, "that my school project is being bought out and brought to Hollywood". The young actress turned director "loves acting with [her] whole heart" but working behind the camera certainly has intrigue.

Filming took place over the last five months, only weeks after her movie with up and coming star Dallas Liu premiered. Her success is astounding: she has won more awards before she can legally drink than most people in this industry do in their whole careers. Maybe another award is coming for this young star, only in the creative category.

Notes: My inspiration was that one scene during the phantom troupe/yorknew arc where Gon and Killua were running around and throwing pie in each others faces.

This is perfect. You were sitting on the grass watching Gon and Leorio run around in the distance. You all decided to go to a park to relax after a stressful day. Leorio chases after Gon and yells for him to "get back here!". Gons laughter can heard in the distance while Kurapika chuckles and heads towards the pair to join in on the fun. You smiled as you watched the three continue to run around, content in the little group you found for yourself. You stretched your legs out straight and kept yourself upright with your hands behind you. Palms slightly clenching the floor as the grass strands and dirt granules tickle bits of your hand. You couldn't ask for a better moment. Sighing to no-one you look up at the sky and admire the clouds, the way they form in the air, making the sky look like a painting.

How did you get so lucky?

"Hey," You heard a voice from behind you. Recognising the voice without having to turn around, your face turns a light shade of red and you reply, "Hello Killua,". Smiling even wider as the boy sits beside you, plopping down close enough to feel heat radiating off his body. You turn to look at him, he's not looking at you. His attention is directed towards your friends running around, a slight curl forming at his lips. You smile drops into a content line as you almost worship his facial features from the side. His piercing yet gorgeous blue eyes, the way his shiny white hair falls around his face. You've always had some sort of admiration for the boy, or more like an infatuation with him.

The two of you sit together for a passing moment. Both content sitting in silence.

He turns his head to you, making abrupt eye contact. You were quick to look towards the ground, eyes darting straight down to avoid his piercing gaze. Cheeks reddening as you feel your body temperature rise tremendously.

"You know.." Killua started, placing his hands behind his head and moving to lie down on the ground. Your ears twitch at the sudden sound. "I've always found something so interesting about you," He continued, shifting his head on the ground to glance towards you. You haven't moved, head still facing the ground and cheeks as red as ever. "Oh," you squeak out, "what have you found interesting?".

"Not sure," he shrugged. "There's just something, I've always been drawn to you," he states. He sits back up, turning to face his entire body towards you. You turn your head up, looking directly at him. He's looking back into your e/c eyes. There's a moment of silence. Tension thickening. Your hands feel clammy, dirt and grass still scratching your palms.

Killua mumbles something and turns his head down. "Sorry, did you say something?" You question him, head cocking slightly to the side in confusion, wondering if it was just your imagination. Killua sighs then looks back up to you.

"I can't believe I'm doing this," He states out loud before he moves in close towards you. His lips press against yours, so soft and subtle. And as quick as it happened, it was over. Both yours and his face flushed with a bright red hue. Your head is spinning, and your entire body going numb. Did he just? Did that just? Did Killua just kiss you?

"I guess what I'm saying is.." he moves one of his arms behind his neck, scratching it with an embarrassed look on his face. "I guess what I'm saying is.." he repeats.

"I like you, like 'like-like' you Y/N," he mutters.

Your eyes were wide open. Did you just hear what you thought you heard? Was Killua confessing to you? You couldn't believe this was actually happening. You sat there staring at him in complete disbelief. Your body felt so hot that you thought you were going to set ablaze.

"Uh hello, um, earth to Y/N," His voice brought you out of your trance-like state. Everything suddenly made sense. The situations in the past suddenly rushed through your brain. The way you would catch him staring at you, glaring at other people that looked at you, his aura increasing as they so much get too close to you, let alone touch you. This is real, Killua is actually confessing to you.

A massive smile arose on your face. Killua's eyes widened, a shocked expression plastered on his face. You threw your arms around him, tackling him onto the ground and tightly embracing his figure. Your head landed on his chest, and his back landed flat on the ground.

"Oh, Killua you big idiot!" You laughed loudly, "I like you too dummy," You raised your head to look up at him. He was smiling wide down towards you. He slowly starts laughing, moving one of his hands to caress and pat the top of your head. Fingers ruffling your h/c hair. "Well I guess that settles that," he chuckles.

You both sit up smiling at each other. You've never felt more happy than you do right now. Both of you move to sit right next to each other, hands on the ground behind you and legs stretched out in front. Gon, Leorio and Kurapika were still running after each other, their laughter coming back into your ears.

You felt Killuas hand on top of yours as he clutches it firmly. You both glance at each other once last time, smiling fondly, before turning away to watch the chaos in the distance from Gon, Leorio and Kurapika.

This is perfect.

Yes, of course they meet... eventually. Gale is very hesitant to bring any new person into their life. He’s protective of his daughter and doesn’t want her to get attached to someone who might not stay.

Bucky, too, is a little intimidated. He’s great with children, so he has confidence that he would get along well with her, but he never really had to meet children where it was crucial to be liked by them. In addition, before Gale, he never had a long-term relationship that seemed to work out, so it's a lot.

So, for several months, Gale juggles a double life, sort of - being a dad with his daughter and being Bucky's partner, but never both at the same time. It tears away at him, he’s always guilty for "neglecting" one or the other.

He’s not keeping the two secret from each other though. He talks to Bucky about his daughter and shows him photos and videos, and after some time, he also tells his daughter that he’s dating someone. She's excited about it like kids can be, without seeing the possible complications. She wants her dad to be happy, and she also sees this as an opportunity to have a new person to play with.

Gale introduces them at a fair. He figures it's casual enough, but it also gives opportunities for Bucky to interact with her. He coaches Bucky excessively beforehand on what she likes and what she doesn’t, and asks him not to kiss him in greeting just this once so as not to overwhelm her.

Needless to say, Bucky and Gale’s daughter are thick as thieves from the start. They have a lot of fun going through the attractions and eating cotton candy. Bucky wins her some kind of stuffed animal on a game. When they leave, Gale's daughter sits in the car, but Gale lingers with Bucky a little bit. They exchange a few words, then Bucky gives Gale a kiss goodbye.

During the drive home, Gale asks his daughter if she had fun, and she tells him all her thoughts about Bucky. She likes him a lot... but she tells Gale that she thinks Bucky is shy because he didn’t want to kiss Gale in front of her. As Gale flushes bright red, she continues unaware, telling him that he should tell Bucky he doesn’t have to be shy.

1) Method to Madness by @fraugwinska: one of my very first Hazbin reader fics by my very dear friend Frau, this fic is absolutely beautiful and just continues to get better! Everyone is characterized so so so well, the premise and execution constantly has me on the edge of my seat, the smut scenes are phenomenal, and Frau writes Alastor so perfectly 🤌 everything by her is wonderful, she is truly one of my favorite writers for this fandom as well as being a very good friend, but this fic in particular has a special place in my heart 💕

2) The Lookalike by @impale-me-radio-daddy: this fic did things to me. I think I've shared every chapter of it as it was posted but in case I wasn't clear, it's fucking amazing. The banter, the reader character, the smut scenes- perfection. All of it. I rest my case 📺📻 (pst they are also working on a new RadioStatic fic that has lots of fun dream shenanigans, keep an eye out 👀)

3) Bluest Monday/Say Hello, Wave Goodbye by @bapple117: I was not a RadioStatic girl before Bluest Monday but the way Bapple writes these two together is crack. The slow exploration of their relationship and how it changed from what was originally intended is gorgeous. I cried, I have no shame about it. And the continuation of everything in Say Hello, Wave Goodbye has been going wonderfully and I can't wait to see where everything goes 🩵❤️

4) What’s Your Frequency, Baby? by @elleinmotion: my first real Vox fic and the one that got me down bad for our favorite Samsung 😍 the way that they write him is just asdfh so delicious, in literally every way, the reader character is also an absolute babe with so much depth and I'm so so so in love with the story, especially now that Alastor is involved as well 👀 I want to somehow bake this fic into a lasagna and eat it

5) Scratch an Itch by @jurijyuu: another one of my first reader fics! The premise of this one was a little more gorey than I would normally get into (antler shedding and unknowing cannibalism, anyone?) but I'm so glad I took a chance with it because its SO GOOD and just like the rest, it just continues to get better 🦌 another dear friend and super talented writer that this fandom has brought to me 💗

f1wags After a brief hiatus from social media, y/n makes a cameo on her friend's IG Live today! In today's live, she spilled the beans on some questions about her christmas holiday in Australia and the short getaway in Japan with Oscar. She couldn't help but gush about the incredible experience—her first time in Australia. Oscar played the perfect tour guide, showing her around his hometown and introducing her to his family. He also told us about their short getaway in Japan. Y/N explained that they haven't seen each other for more than two weeks as Oscar is already back to work—busy with meetings, simulator sessions, and prepping for the upcoming F1 season at the McLaren Technology Centre, and she have to return to her work and projects too.

Walking into NRG Park felt odd. You’ve been to a football stadium before but not before noon or because your ex-boyfriend invited you to his open practice. Your relationship was like open practice actually, you practiced being the best girlfriend and he liked being open, for everyone.

Texas was huge, they were right when they said everything’s bigger in Texas. Including egos, you realized when you received a text from Brevin minutes after tagging Houston in your story.

Hey baby, heard you were in my city😁 Swing by tmr’s practice and watch me cook then I’ll show ya around 😉

You honestly thought he must’ve taken too many shots to the head, your breakup consisted of a few long texts and pure ignorance so you assumed he got the idea. Yet here you are sitting in the bleachers of the Houston stadium. You wandered around for a total of 15 minutes searching for somewhere to sit. Brevin only sent the one text so you had no idea where to go or where he even was. You almost left and forgot about him but a player in a #7 jersey stopped you.

“Excuse me, are you okay?” Damn dreads, pretty eyes and perfect ass lips.

“Oh yeah, I’m fine. I was invited by someone on the team, but he’s not replying to me. So I was just gonna go.” You replied sheepishly.

“That’s cool, but if you want you could come over to my section. We’ll be done in about an hour and the view’s better over here.” He smiled.

He was cute, smooth and nothing like B, exactly your type. “Yea, I think I’d like that..”

“Oh sorry, I’m CJ. Quarterback.” Team leader = good communication. Noted.

“Y/n.” A whistle went off and grabbed CJ’s attention. “I guess that means ‘back to work.”

“Yea, we’ll talk after practice.” He flashed his award-winning smile once more then jogged back to center field. I’m definitely staying.

Watching CJ- the Texans practice was actually pretty fun, you never could pay attention during their real games because of the boisterous crowd, but here on the secluded practice field you could actually focus on the players and didn’t have large men yelling in your ears.

Truth be told CJ looked electric out there. Everything he did lit up the light crowd, which makes sense with all his clean complete passes. His offense was ten times better than their defense, which sucks when it comes to game time, but what can you do?

Every once in a while he’d look back at our section and smile, just for a moment you let yourself believe it’s you he’s looking at.

Unbeknownst to you and Stroud, Brevin also noticed how he was looking in your direction. His face would tense up and for each play he’d ignore all instructions and go after the quarterback. Since he was on defense it wasn’t that long of a stretch between his duties and his actions, but he got pancaked after every attempt.

By the time practice was over, your ex was even more angered than before thanks to the amount of bruises he accumulated over the last two hours. Then he saw you and CJ talking, suddenly all his anger was justified.

“I really enjoy talking to you Y/n. Is there any way I can persuade you into joining me in getting a bite to eat?” You lightly bit your bottom lip, the corners curling upwards at his question.

“I would love that-

“I hope you know she hates barbecue, and she don’t do relationships especially with athletes.” The voice of your emotionally incompetent egomaniac ex boyfriend interrupts you from afar.

Rolling your eyes you decide to pay him no mind and just turn back to the nice guy in front of you. “As I was saying, lunch sounds great.”

Then Brevin inserts himself again, now only the field barricade separates you. “You should know who you’re getting involved with CJ, they call her Jennifer because she’s a maneater.” He wears a mischievous grin and defensive stance.

You scoff, “a maneater who’s only here because my loser ex boyfriend slid in my DMs the second I got to Texas. A maneater that was thinking about maybe hearing you out after our relationship went wrong. Even better, a maneater that was nothing but faithful to your misogynistic womanizer ass.”

“If I’m such a misogynistic womanizer why did you come?” He smirks thinking he finally got one over you.

“I heard your quarterback was way bigger than you, so I had to come check that out.” He flared his nostrils, and stormed off the field, but not before spiking his helmet.

“Jordan you’re getting fined for that!”

CJ chuckles to himself, impressed at the way you handled him. “Did you mean it?” He smirked.

You lean over the barricade and breathily whisper in his ear. “Every word.”

Then pull back to watch his face as he sucks his plump bottom lip into his mouth.

Of course, you knew who he was, you knew every single person and being on this team. They were the guardians of the galaxy for God sake, and the fact that you read their files is a plus. And in their line of work is completely your type, you had a reputation yourself. You shook his hand.

“So this is the new recruit?” Rocket looked you up and down.

“Yeah I am, you got a problem?” you raised your eyebrow at him.

“Not yet I don’t” he crossed his arms in front of his chest.

Peter was amused at this and it was showing by the small smile at the corner of his lips, someone who can keep up with Rocket and he had a great idea.

“So Rocket why don’t you show Y/n here around, I gotta make a quick call.” And he ditched you both.

Rocket didn’t want to but he did, he was giving you a tour around the ship and telling you stuff about everyone in the team.

“We usually ignore anything that comes out of Quill’s mouth.” He told you.

“Isn’t he like the leader of the team?” You questioned him with a raised eyebrow.

“Oh that’s what he thinks but no.” Rocket shook his head ‘no’.

“What the hell Rocket?” You heard Quill behind you.

And Rocket rolled his eyes while you were holding back a laugh, Peter stormed out of the area and Rocket point his paw towards where Peter left.

“Now does that sound like a leader to you?” he snickered.

“I HEARD THAT!”

I was zoning out and somehow thought about elementary school teacher readers, coming back to the lair with papers to grade, Donnie getting angry over the lesson plans you have to use, etc. And then, like always, raph thoughts(I am unbelievably gushy to raph x lil sweet cheery readers) Being oh so sleepy tired but still having work to do. Grading papers, getting activities printed and cut, weekly plans. I'd like to imagine he helps to get you to sleep faster, all the while listening to the venty yapping about which kids are troublemakers

Sorry this took so long. I want you to know that this started out as a simple fluffy fic, but Red disagreed. He wanted to make you smile.

I'm going to be splitting this into 4 parts (+ an epilogue) to make it easier to read because I accidentally went over the character limit in my notes app *twice*. I wasn't aware you could accidentally write a whole ass fic, but here we are. 😅

"Come on, babe, please?"

You sigh, whining, "Raph..."

"I gotta head out early, you'll be asleep by the time I get back," he pleaded. He was only working a half night, but he had to leave right at sunset and head across town, so he wouldn't be home until well after 1:00 am, and you had school in the morning.

It had been a long day, and it still wasn't over yet.

You really did like your job. The kids were great, even when they misbehaved it wasn't their fault. There were just too many of them and not enough of you. You couldn't watch everybody all the time, but you still had to try. Third grade was a lot. Especially when you were managing 27 kids (you're grateful, you have colleagues managing 40+, and it's a fucking zoo).

Still, you tried to make things fun for them. Halloween is tomorrow, and you don't want to do the traditional boring "spooky" theme. So, you've decided to teach an entire class of 8-9 year olds a little bit about applied chemistry.

You were actually really excited! You'd picked up a bunch of foam pumpkins at the dollar store, which were currently being dragged in a cart behind you. You were planning on carving them into jack o'lanterns and teaching the kids how to make elephant toothpaste to ooze out of the holes. It's was going to be the most beautiful chaos, and with any luck, a memorable experience.

There was only one problem, you'd been dealing with meetings and trainings all week and unable to actually carve the damn pumpkins. Today there was an outage in part of the building, so you had to wait two hours to use the one copier available, and by the time you walked out you had zero gas left in the tank. You wanted to go home and finish your work so you could go to bed.

You reach the top of the stairs, exiting the subway at street level. The lair is literally in the opposite direction. You look south, towards your apartment.

"Please?" He asks again, his voice softening. You haven't seen him in days and you can hear in his voice that it's taking as much of a toll on him as it is you. "I'll help you with your school shit, whatever, I just... I gotta see you. Please?"

You sigh and turn around, heading north. You miss him, too.

He meets you at the door to the elevator, and despite your exhaustion, you can't help but smile. He had that effect. Comfort, safety, peace, love... Raphael is Home. And the moment you step inside his arms all of your tension melts away. Almost.

He picks you up in his arms and squeezes you tightly, swinging you gently back and forth as he buries his nose in your hair. He breathes you in and grins, chuckling quietly as you squeeze him back and press your face against his neck.

"What're you laughing at?" you ask, suspicious. He was way more... something... than normal... you're not entirely sure what. You raise your head with your eyes narrowed.

"Nothin'," he says, kissing you sweetly, "just happy to see you." Your eyes narrow further, but this seems to satisfy you. You kick your legs and whine and he sets you down.

Picking up the crate and carrying it casually under one arm (though, to be fair, the pumpkins are made of foam), he gestures you first into the elevator and follows behind. He takes your hand pretty much immediately, "So what're we working on?"

"Pumpkins," you sigh.

He waits a beat. Then another. "Okay... You gonna give me more than that, or..." He smirks down at you, laughing. He can't help it.

"Yeah, sorry," you laugh, "rough week." You shake your head, before looking up at him, "carving, specifically."

"Shit, why didn't you say so? I could've done the whole thing for you!" He laughs as you exit the elevator into the lower garage.

Donnie's working on the truck and you wave at him as you pass by. He gives you a bright smile and your suspicion grows. He's a bit too cheery for being elbow deep in his latest mechanical mess.

You make it to the living room and start unpacking everything. Foam pumpkins, sharpies, exacto knives, "that should be everything," you say, grabbing a gourd and sitting down on the couch. You tuck your legs up under you as Raph walks by behind, leaning down to kiss you on his way to the other side.

He only has about an hour before he needs to leave, but he spends it cuddled up next to you quietly carving pumpkins, an activity which he actually enjoys. All too soon, he's called away to his duties.

With a lingering kiss that leaves you missing him already, he's gone, and you're left with... so much work.

The pumpkins are taking longer than expected, and by midnight you're still not done. Mostly because, for a teacher, you really suck at learning your lesson, and you waited until the last minute. Again. And you didn't ask your boyfriend for help once you realized it was too much. Again.

Honestly, one word and he could have had this solved for you. You look over at your annual Family Pumpkin Carving Competition entries. Raph was no longer allowed to enter the contest because it wasn't fair. But he still did one because he enjoyed it. This year, it seems, he was feeling romantic.

It was a MASSIVE pumpkin almost to your shoulder. You have no idea how he even got it down here. Inside was a small table with several electric candles, illuminating the ballroom scene from Beauty and the Beast.

You set down the half-carved jack o' lantern, and sigh heavily, rubbing your eyes. You lean back on the couch, tucking your feet under you. You're just going to shut your eyes for a few seconds. You know that people always say that and they end up just falling asleep, but you really actually mean it, you'll close your eyes for a few minutes and then get back to work.

i didn't win the wheel: episode 7 (pt. 2)

[game ends, Logan loses but they both fumbled their way through the whole thing; they apologize for their lack of knowledge]

Logan: "It's not intentional at all, I respect–"

Alex (pointing at Logan): "Tell us about NASCAR, he'd know everything!"

Logan: 😁

this isn't the first time alex has done this and it won't be the last, but watch alex's reaction when logan loses at something. like, literally anything. when they're competing and alex is ahead, he'll tease, laugh, celebrate each little point that puts him in front of logan. but what about when the challenge is over– when it's time for somebody else to come in with the comparison? when an outside voice needs to be the one to say "alex, congrats on the win; logan, you lost"? alex is immediately averse to it. there's an old video where they're doing something similar to "who's more likely to" and the question comes up about who does better starts; i'll find it but alex absolutely fumbles through his answer. shoulders shrugging in on himself, voice getting quieter. "well um i am– i mean actually, so far, i've been... a bit better at it than, than logan has". he's fine with being the best but he's not fun with being reminded that logan is the worst. all of the sudden alex has this protective side coming out, he's literally putting an entire arm between the camera and logan, and this isn't even the first time he's stood like that during a video or a photoshoot. he shrinks into himself when he gets silly and flustered but there are these microscopic shifts and tone and he's a guard dog. like when he was the ONLY ONE to say remotely anything good or at least forgiving about logan's performance out of the whole fucking team pointing out that "He's been doing a great job in the last few races. I don't think it's really been understood because we aren't driving the same car. He's a great driver with great raw speed" (this was in late june). which, considering how the rest of the team treat logan? bold move. when logan's confident in himself– even about a stupid basketball challenge or whatever– is when alex is most comfortable. so here he steps in with a completely unrelated topic, even though he's been surprisingly quiet this whole video (for alex) to remind everyone, "hey, this isn't his area of expertise, but don't fucking underestimate him he will blow you out of the water with nascar facts".

Alex: "So, the prizes are, Logan– it's a spark model car..."

this. fucking. moment. this is right after alex has done his little nascar-themed pick me up, and there's actually a sudden cut in the video at this moment so who knows maybe there was just the beginnings of a nascar tangent going on and they needed a little redirection (with how much redirection these two need on-screen it's surprising they get any footage at all). but what's just happened is that alex has taken ANY chance of logan being told "you lost" or "you didn't make it" into a little ego-boost instead. and logan pulls an alex then, laughing suddenly and unexpectedly like whoaa i did not expect to be feeling these feelings and looking down in the middle of what he was trying to say. they switch back and forth between roles so comfortably, so seamlessly, it's like you can't even describe their relationship in clearly defined roles because they take turns looking after each other.

hand-on-the-hip-leaning-over-the-table-to-gaze-helplessly-into-each-other's-eyes okay boys is that your signature move now?? logan has this way of following alex with his eyes, even as alex fidgets around and shifts and has so much restless energy, logan is so still and stable beside him and the contrast would make me anxious but they're comfortable and familiar with how they each occupy space and they know how to share it.

and the fact that alex says logan's name here. in the middle of his sentence. during the most administrative, the most rehearsed, the simplest (they're literally reading words off an ipad) part of the video. and it's not even akin to the way logan uses small hand gestures to shift alex's focus. logan is completely focused, he literally goes from turning to the camera/instructor to leaning into alex waiting for the moment when the wheel spins and they get to crowd close. he makes room for alex before it's even the time yet because he's ready and he's welcoming and he's anticipating that they're going to be close to each other and yep, alex leans forward and diagonal and right into the space. it's like when you make a circle out of tape on the floor and your cat immediately sits in the middle. and i don't think either of them even realize that they're doing this, that they've formed a routine within this routine. but alex saying logan's name? while logan is already focused, and also not interrupting, and while this part is supposed to be for the audience who will actually get the prizes. the fact that he interrupts himself to add the name is so indicative. it's almost as if he'd intended to say the name all along but forgot at the last second but even as they leaned in close to each other and alex made that nascar joke and they're finally at least a little bit relax alex needs to make a point. he says logan's name when he's talking directly to logan on a regular basis. i don't have to do a behavior analysis of that, right? we all know what it feels like to carry the shape of someone's name in your mouth all the time that the silence aches without them and when you get to see them and say it out loud just remind yourself that this is who you are to me? moving on.

Alex: "If you want to win that prize of a framed bodywork, make sure to check out the Williams website, williams f1 dot com, or–" (turns expectantly to Logan)

Logan (doesn't miss a beat): "–visit the app!"

Alex (laughing even as Logan steps away): "We're getting good at this!"

oh, alex. he's gonna break your heart, and it won't even be his fault.

something happened with alex over the course of this episode. blink and you miss it– well shit, i must've blinked because i definitely missed something. the last, like, twenty seconds of it. reminding the camera that they both struggled and that logan's loss doesn't mean that he isn't smart, leaning into logan as if they have a prechoreographed pose required for The Wheel, saying logan's name for literally no reason ("logan i'm trying to tell you that even though the game is over and we have to read off the cards again and they're about to end the video i still want this to be about us because there is an us when we play like this and i'm telling myself and i'm telling the world that that's what i'm getting out of this"). three minutes of a dejected confused flop of content (from the william's admin side, total fail) and suddenly alex has been hit with some lovestruck epiphany and his behavior. is more obvious. these two are not obvious with each other. charlos will openly use pet names and then insist on other pet names and perform wedding vows on a golf cart. landoscar are more subtle, but it's always been easy to read between the lines and the facial expressions give it all away anyway. but these two are not obvious withe themselves or with each other (spare the one little miracle moment of episode 4) and they're not even in a situation where being obvious is fun let alone easy. but what happened the last time we were at this point in the video? the doors closed, the lights went off. alex got like 2 seconds of the logan he cherishes and then got shut the fuck out because they'd already spun the stupid wheel, and subconsciously or not alex hasn't forgotten that. he's reaching out to logan in the middle of his sentences. because every second that passes with logan not talking is a second of logan that alex is losing, and he's trying to just drag this out and it's obvious and clumsy desparation. giving logan the cue in a way that was clearly improvised even though i know they must hate all the retakes. logan picking it up instantly. alex's face literally falling even as logan says the line because he can sense that it's fading, it's slipping, it's not working. then logan straight up leaves. before the camera turns off he's just walking away. alex's last little setup didn't work because the fucking video is over.

less actual imagery this time because there was less to work with. this episode was about 2 or 3 REALLY REALLY IMPORTANT moments that carried a lot of weight but were rare among a pretty extensive drone of statistics and depression. then again, episode 1 was pretty much the same format, and the alex and logan even from just a few months ago are not the alex and logan we have right now. i think alex is more aware of that than logan is and yeah.
