To confirm what others have been saying:

Yes, the Nanoha cast grow up as the series continues, starting out at around ten years old, and, last I knew, they were in their mid-twenties.

Yes, it's very queer. Not only are Fate and Nanoha just less than explicitly in a relationship when they grow up (they share a bed and raised a daughter together), but someone else they saved is known as "Harem Queen" because her three (all female) bodyguards are all clearly in love with her and she had a daughter with an artificial intelligence. There's a meme of "there are rainbows straighter than Subaru Nakajima," who wakes up her tsundere female partner via groping.

However, if you go looking for it, I can't recommend the dub. The main reason is that there's a character whose name would be romanized as "Arufu." I've generally seen that rendered as "Arf" because she's a shapeshifting dog-person, but the dubbers decided to instead render it as "Aruf," which just sounds awkward.

I think it'd be awkward either way?
