26.When do you think they were being "themselves" the most?

The... Friendship Bit....

Not just because I've seen it a dozen or so times lol but because it's the one that displays her most complete range of characterization (in s1). It's in that ep where Nanoha's baggage around loneliness is revealed, and it's something that's obviously in her mind when she Intervenes to help Fate during the storm, as her inner monologue is going on about what would someone who is lonely want from others. It informs the way she carries herself and all the concrete things she tells Fate and all she does to help her. Not only the segment shows her strength as a very introspective, self-assured protagonist and her own sadness and baggage, it also is kickstarted bc she decides to disobey orders in favor of what she thinks it's right and showcases how her rapport with Yuuno gives her the strength to extend that to others. It really is one of her strongest and most impressive scenes that runs the gamut of what s1 has to offer.

But I also wanna say the bit in Strikers when she tells Vivio she's her beloved, spoiled child LOL Because if that ain't the best showing of her adult personality, idk what is 😂

27. If they could meet a character from another show/movie/etc, who would be the most fun for them to meet?

This question is always hard for me, do I have crossover dreams? Not usually LOL the only time I wanted to draw one was a Survive x ReArise thing bc I thought Takumi and Aoi, being two ppl who follow their moral codes to a tee but also have diametrically opposed values, would totally hate each other's guts, which I found unbelievably funny lol Should I go with that?

I don't think Nanoha would hate any of the Survive kids, but having kid her among them arguably being the most assertive and better at communicating is a hilarious idea. Adult Nanoha would simply Intervene.)

Or maybe she should meet Kinomoto Sakura given how her own development took cues from her? Or Hibiki symphogear given how much this other franchise lifted from hers (a lot, apparently)?

What are your top five ships from the Lyrical Nanoha franchise and why? Also, if not in the top five, what's your favorite poly ship from the franchise?

Top Five??? Damn...

Nanofate - gotta be the first on the list. The classic, the tried, the true, the everlasting. Foundational, wholesome, and all encompassing. The inspiration and the heart of the entire series. The relationship that’s inspired tears and heartwarming moments throughout the entire franchise’s run. If you’re not on board with NanoFate, are you really even a fan at all?

Hayate X Reinforce - The ultimate love-in-repose. Supporting and inspiring each other, truly connected, defining each other’s life... but realized for only fleeting moments before it fades into memory. Tragic and beautiful.

Yagami Clan Cuddlepile - Well there’s your big poly ship right there! Hayate’s not the type to limit her affections, and she’s built a family of those that love and cherish her, and it’s clear they’re far closer than simply that. I don’t consider Zafira part of this, but I admit it can’t be just because he’s a dog because I think Alph is ship valid so? You can Include or Exclude members to personal taste.

Subaru X Teana - Red Oni Blue Oni! What’s not to love! These two have been closer to each other for far longer than they’ll care to admit, and supporting each other stubbornly the whole way. Being some of the only ones to know each other’s secrets, to understand their pasts, and push each forward side by side to meet their dreams head on.

Vivio X Einhart - I’m not actually quite as big on this one as some people are, but I do still enjoy it quite a bit and can’t deny it’s appeal. It’s the new generation of nanofate, this time with martial arts!! Vivio’s earnest straightforwardness complements brilliant with Einhart’s stern reticence, and I am always for a bubbly bright girl helping a cold and sad girl open up her heart and learn to love again.

Runners Up - 

Suzuka X Arisa - they went to college together and share an apartment what more do I gotta say. Arisa never gets over Nanoha and Suzuka teases her about it all the time, but their relationship is strong and unaffected by that lingering crush.

Signum X Fate (adult) - you are a firm believer in the inherent eroticism of sexual tension during combat training

Signum X Nanoha - you are a firm believer in the inherent eroticism of a respectful struggling for ultimate dominance

Nanoha + Fate + Hayate - i see this as less of an every day serious committed relationship and more a casual no-barriers love. They’re very dear to each other and they’ll share hotel rooms with a single giant bed and fuck, but it’s not as serious and continuous as some of the others

Vita + Nanoha - Stodgy dwarf can’t help but want to protect the sweet girl that helped her find happiness again

Yuuno / Chrono - they’ve got a good dynamic and they’re the only boys left. don’t tell his wife. she approves, obviously 

Sieg X Victor - Come on. Tell me they’re not fucking. Try and say it with a straight face.

Lyrical Nanoha Portable: PSP game which is technically in a different continuity and directly follows up on A's; introduces characters that are seen later in other continuities

Lyrical Nanoha Reflection and Detonation: The third and fourth movies, in the movie continuity, set two years after A's, that also follows up on A's to an extent and reintroduces some of the characters from Portable

Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS: Eight/Ten years after Reflection & Detonation/A's, Nanoha and gang are working for INTERDIMENSIONAL SPACE UNITED NATIONS and need to figure out what the fuck is going on. Also introduces a bunch of new characters (including Subaru and Vivio, who will become important) and follows up on the loose ends from the original series

Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS sound stage X: Audio drama set three years after StrikerS and mostly following Subaru and Vivio; an ancient evil reawakens and the kids need to deal with it

Lyrical Nanoha ViVid: Set one years after Sound Stage X. Follows Vivio as she makes friends and becomes a MAGICAL MARTIAL ARTIST.

ViVid Strike!: Set a year after ViVid, follows Vivio and friends as they make a new friend and help her get through to her girlfriend via MAGICAL MARTIAL ARTS

Lyrical Nanoha Force: set a year after ViVid Strike!, it involves a guy who's really strong and mass murderers with anti magic and is just. Really, really bad. Also got put on indefinite hiatus before it ended so E

There's also Lyrical Nanoha Innocent and InnocentS, which are the card game AU. The manga up until ViVid are generally full of supplemental material. The first two movies are also remakes of the first two seasons, but they have manga that are in a THIRD nestled continuity where things are even weirder than normal

And Nanoha, Fate, and Hayate have also appeared in Magia Record.

...and technically it's all an AU of the Triangle Heart series of h games.

My top 10 yuri ships

Hi everyone! Here’s my top 10 favourite yuri ships in anime and manga (as well as Japanese game). Keep in mind that it’s my personal top 10 and I’m not saying those ships are better than the others, just that they are those I prefer.

10. Kaguya X Mokou (Touhou Project)

My favourite ship in Touhou Project. I have a thing for love/hate relationship as well as rivalry. Those two are immortals and keep trying to kill each other due to an old grudge. How romantic. But as immortals, they can understand each other since they are going through the same thing, and know they won’t end up alone. My main reason to ship them is that I find the concept of them being together really hot (and one of them as firepower so it’s fitting).

9. Yoko X Aya (Kiniro Mosaic)

Ship from one of my favourite slice of life anime. Yoko and Aya are the typical “shoujo manga couple” with the tsundere girl to shy to admit her feeling and the dense guy. But not as typical, since they are both girls. Aya, better known as Ayaya (or Gayaya), is so memeable. Her love for Yoko can be both cute and funny, and I do hope one day Yoko will realize her feelings and reciprocate them. They are what I prefer in Kiniro Mosaic, their episodes are those I enjoyed the most.

8. Otoya x Shiena (Akuma no Riddle)

I hesitate to put this one since I’m more obsessed about it than actually liking it, but I guess that I can’t just write so many fanfics about them and not put them on my top. I’m truly obsessed and fascinated by the possibility of this pairing. I must admit that I have a fascination for psychopaths, and a relationship with one of them intrigued me. So to see a normal girl like Shiena being paired with a psycho serial killer like Otoya is like a fantasy to me, it’s satisfying my dark fantasy. I like to imagine how they could actually work as a couple. So unhealthy and dark...Ah, not that I approve such relationship, but it’s fine in fiction. 7. Komaru X Touko (Danganronpa) 

A relationship that truly touched me. They are so good for each other, they support and help each other. I honestly ship them either romantically or as friends, I just want to see them together. Just seeing pictures of them together is enough to light up my mood. Touko has a hard time trusting others because of her past, so it’s moving to see her open up to Komaru and eventually see her as a close friend. And Komaru is just so sweet and adorable. Please Touko, forget about Togami and just go with Komaru, who respect and treat you well You deserves better than that rich prick!

6. Sakurako X Himawari (Yuru Yuri)

What’s better than a tsundere? Two tsunderes being tsun-tsun for each other! My favourite thing in that anime is actually those two and their interaction. Individually I don’t really like any of them, but together they are just gold. We know they actually like each other, but they can’t help but being rival. They used to be really close as kids but ended up fighting growing up (probably because of Hima’s boobs, they start all of this). But the rare sweet moments between them are what truly matters, and I hope for actual development for them.

5. Homura X Madoka & Sayaka X Kyouko (Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica)

Two ships for this positions since they are from the same anime and I can’t choose one. We can’t deny Homura’s love for Madoka, it’s pretty much canon with the third movie. Just how far she went for Madoka’s sake, the sacrifices she made, the pain she underwent. I wish for a happy conclusion for them, but I feel like it won’t be the case. As for KyouSaya, I like how both of them is tomboyish, it’s rare to see that type of yuri ship. They started as enemies to eventually friends, I liked the evolution of their relationships and they truly shine in the third movie. Again I wish them a happy conclusion. But it’s PMMM, so I doubt it will happen ^^’

4. Nanoha X Fate & Vivio X Einhart (Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha)

Again, two ships at the same position for the same series, because I couldn’t choose. NanoFate is a classic in yuri, they are basically canon. I mean, they live together, sleep in the same bed, bath together, and adopted a girl they raised together. Everything about their relationship is perfect. They start off as enemies but learn to understand each other and eventually become close friends, and it continued to evolve as they grow older. Vivio and Einhart are kind of a mirror of their relationship but softer. They started as rivals and ended up friends, and their ancestors knew each other (they were a couple I think). There’s a good romantic potential with those two, sweet yet spicy. You know what they said. As mother as daughter.

3. Sumireko x Banba (Akuma no Riddle)

Another one from AnR, my otp, SumiBanba! With both Banba’s personality, Mahiru and Shinya. They are the combination of my two favourite type of ships: Overly cute and dark. Most of their interactions are so cute and fluff, yet since they are both not exactly sane (and Banba being clearly insane), there’s a potential of darkness with that ship, given Sumireko’s obsession with power. The potential of her abusing her power with Banba is strong, yet there’s also the potential for them to help each other with their respective issues. This relationship as both the potential to be good or bad, mostly depending of Sumireko’s action. If you're interested, I made quite a long post to analyze their relationship: SumiBanba analysis.

2. Hibiki X Miku (Symphogear)

Those two...I love them so much! They are so cute and fluff. They both have a strong bond with each other, they are calling each other sunshine and bright sun. They are so much acting like a married couple, even their VA agreed. I mean, they have bunk bed yet sleep in the same bed, while holding hands and cuddling. They are so perfect for each other, they compliment each other pretty well, Hibiki being more immature and Miku more responsible. And it’s pretty obvious that Miku does love Hibiki, it’s even confirmed in the OVA. But as Hibiki’s friend told her once, she’s as dense as a harem MC. Let’s hope they got actual romantic development in the upcoming season 5 (urgh only airing in April...)

1. Bernkastel X Lambdadelta (Umineko No Naku Koro Ni)

Those two. Words are not enough to describe how much I love them. They are everything I love about a ship, they are cute yet dark, love/hate, and rivals. They are actually lovers, friends, enemies, rivals and opponents. Yes, they are canonly a couple. They are immortal witches who deeply love each other, yet also try to kill each other from time to time to pass time. Lots of candy and sugar symbolism with them, as well as stuff like “I’ll impale you to my bed and kiss you each morning and night” or “I’ll gouge your eyes so you can only look at me and put them into my tea”. So romantic, so fucked up. I love that. Despite all the creepiness, they do honestly love each other, they just have their own way to show it. I guess it’s normal when you’re a 1000 years old witch.

Sweet [One-Shot]

Word Count: 933 Pairing: Prisma!Illya x Prisma!Gilgamesh

Illya may not be the best at making food for other people, but she sure tries.

“It’s like what Nanoha-mama taught me! Chocolate is a living thing, so you gotta handle it with care!”

Illya fumbled with her kitchen utensils as she tried to shape the runny liquid chocolate as best she could. She was only half listening to her friend Vivio’s words as Illya tried to form a heart with the chocolate...and to her dismay, it was losing its shape rather quickly. Making the chocolate in the first place wasn’t too tough...but when it came to this, Illya was lost on what to do next.

So much for trying to impress Gil-kun this Valentine’s Day...If only Sakura was here to help her, but she unfortunately had to pass because she had her own things to tend to. Vivio Takamachi was her next best bet...and it’s paying off at the very least.

“I-I think we should wait for it to cool down a bit, right? It’ll probably keep its shape better like that, right?” Illya told her friend, trying to find some way out and recuperate a bit before trying again. But...Vivio wasn’t having any of that. A true blue Takamachi, she put her hands on her hips, scowled, and screamed, “ILLYASVIEL VON EINZBERN, GET BACK TO YOUR CHOCOLATE!!!”

And the poor girl made her hyperventilating face for the 40th time

“That...kinda does look like a heart, right?” Illya asked Vivio as they looked over at her creation. A bit misshapen and rough around the edges, and one half of the heart looked much larger than the other, “perfect” certainly was not the word to describe it. Even the writing turned out illegible, looking like a jumbled mess of lines on the chocolate.

Illya was anything but happy as she turned away and sulked. “I can’t give him this!!! It looks so horrible and bad and just...I-I can’t give Gil-kun this chocolate!” she complained and protested. A distraught look on her face, the normally bubbly and happy Illya was full of shame as she stared at her misshapen creation. Never had she been more disappointed in herself than right now. Her eyes wide in shock, her mouth twisted into a frown, she couldn’t bear to look any more. “I can’t, Vivi-chan...I can’t give this to him...”

She then felt a hand on her shoulder. “Umm...I think this is exactly why you should give it to him!” Vivio told her, surprising Illya even more. “It may not look nice, but I’m sure Gil-san would appreciate the effort! And he’d love it even more because he knows it’s from you!”

Those words struck Illya like a lightning bolt; though she wouldn’t say that Vivio was right, Illya had to agree that she had a very very valid point. She felt some of her confidence come back to her, but...she still stared at the failure of a Valentine’s chocolate she made, her face still twisted in a frown over that.

“Just give it to him! You won’t know until you find out, Illya-san!” said the blonde haired girl, her tone of voice wordlessly telling Illya to believe and trust her. Illya let out a weak “Mhmm” and nodded her head rather reluctantly as she and Vivio began wrapping it all nicely for the young boy.

The city was as bustling as ever, and on this Valentine’s Day, it was even more so. Posters for chocolate sales covered the walls of many buildings, couples were walking hand in hand with each other, the color red covered as far as the eye can see. It was a happy day, and Illya felt the same way...for the most part. She sat on the bench waiting for Gil and a bit lost in thought over what was to come next.

The chocolate sat in the pink ribbon-wrapped bag she and Vivio had picked out. The actual chocolate was as misshapen as she remembered it, and she couldn’t believe Vivio convinced her to go ahead with it.

“Illya-saaaaaaaaaaaaan!”

And there he was, right on time. Illya breathed a sigh of relief; any longer and she would have probably met with trouble from who knows. Still, she couldn’t exactly speak outright, which meant that something was on her mind. Gil had picked up on this and stared at her worriedly. “Hmm? Is something wrong, Illya-san?” he asked.

“U-Um...W-Well...” And she held out the pink bag towards the boy. “I-I made this for you, Gil-kun~” she said, trying to keep a smile on her face. No point in crying over misshapen chocolate now. As she watched him dig unwrap his present and retrieve the Valentine’s chocolate inside, she asked, “I-I swear it’s sweet chocolate! V-Vivi-chan helped me make it............D-Do you like it?”

By that point, Gil had already finished examining the “chocolate heart” his girlfriend made. He broke off a piece and popped it in his mouth, discerning its taste. She was right; it was sweet chocolate that they used. He was half expecting something sweeter tasting, but he could tell that Illya had worked hard on making this Valentine’s chocolate for him. He swallowed his chocolate and smiled brightly at Illya.

“Of course I do~! It’s not the super rare kind of chocolate nor the expensive fancy chocolate...but this chocolate...It’s super special to me~”

“Because you made it yourself~”

She couldn’t hold herself back anymore, and Illya hugged the boy as tightly as she could, partly relieved and mostly giddy from how things turned out. “I love you so much, Gil-kun~! H-Happy Valentine’s Day!” she said lovingly.

“Happy Valentine’s Day, Illya-san~!” He replied to her. “My choco angel~”
