We had a great show today!! We had some tech issues (me, I was tech issues), so we digressed a bit, but were able to discuss how the 1% treat the poor as having no social value, & how migrant & disabled people in the US are legally paid sub-min wage & stripped of rights.

- ashe being there surprised dakota so much it broke him somewhat out of his bad mood! in grizzlys words "if he wouldnt have met ashe right then, dakota would have been so much more angry and miserable at the beginning of this episode. he mightve just straight up left. got up and walked away."

- he didnt want to talk to william or vyncent at all, so ashe being there (however unwillingly) as a third party made things easier and almost softened the blow of vyncent yelling at him in the moment

- for the spirit world, bizly asked charlie to find him just random pieces of music that he could envision places for and thats how they came up with carnival of souls! there are a handful more places like that that youll see eventually :]

the dakota & ashe stuff is so goodddd u can rlly tell. it's like yeah you cant be mad and miserable and sulky in front of someone u don't know!! & ashe is just.... so unbothered... i loaf him... he truly did bring the threat level down so fast. went from terrifying supervillain in charge of the Evil Facility to an exhausted pissed off single dad in 1 minute.

+ALL THE MUSIC STUFF IS SO GOOD..... ITS SO GOOD. yelling. vyncent is going 2 end up having the weirdest music taste from hanging out with them. augh... awesome trivia thabk. the energy they have is so fun always....

Being disabled shouldn't equal being poor.

Abolish the sub-minimum wage, increase income caps for disability assistance, and establish universal basic income.

I will never forget the first time someone acknowledged this to me.

I was cast in a production of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying as an undergrad, and my director and I were discussing what my life really would’ve been like as a full-time wheelchair using queer AFAB person in the 50s/60s (when the musical is set). He almost became an OT/PT (therapist) before going into theatre as he has a seriously disabled family member, so he knew more than most professors.

But even with all the youth wheelchair basketball folks, doctors, therapists, K-12 staff and “advocates” I encountered as a kid, he was the first person who was honest with me—I would’ve been institutionalized, straight up.

That’s the reality for many disabled people to this day: “Hide this shit or die in prison.” And even for those of us who aren’t currently institutionalized, the specter of it haunts us all.

We absolutely have to get better rights in place for disabled people, adults and children. Crafting the law so our parents or spouses are seen as responsible for us—instead of us being responsible for ourselves—is heinous.

Language matters. Independence matters.

These institutions aren’t support, they are prison. This is a civil rights issue. “Guardians” shouldn’t be responsible for disabled adults—disabled adults shouldn’t be paid sub-minimum wages and should have government financial and other assistance to be responsible for themselves. And “guardians” who “send” people to these places are not unequivocally the heartfelt heroes they’re so often made out to be.

Where are all the "slow" kids, the challenged kids, the burnouts from birth, the burden to have in class? Where are the autists who can't mask, who self harm, who are loud and can't stop stimming? The NDs with processing disorders, brain damage, brain fog? The ones with down syndrome, FAS, and other conditions that people treat like curses or defects. I hardly ever see them past 18 and I know they don't just dissolve once they become adults.
