The pin is picked up, turned this way and that to catch the light at different angles. He can feel Dasher's pokeball jump in his pocket every time he moves, the Ampharos apparently very excited about embarking on this brand new adventure.

The papers are... well, what he expected. His eyes skim over them as a formality, aware by now that most of these forms followed a similar structure. As a Champion, stand-in Chairman, Duke, and occasional Ranger mentor... Leon had seen enough of these papers to be able to recite them backwards. They're signed quickly, each signature completed with a little star doodle.

Oh blanche knew where, pokemon hats were really quite popular but they still had to ask the question as they looked at the lovely little spheal themed hat, complete with the tiny round ears the orb like species was known for. Tiny fabric fangs and big dorky eyes. Only accentuated by the fact spark looked so proud of himself for his find and despite the fact it was far from professional, they couldn’t say no (Besides that perpetual chilly ache to their body guaranteed they’d likely wear it more often then not-)

so if a little begrudgingly they slipped it over their head.

"Thank you for the gift, it’s wonderful, i have something for you to.”

In return, Spark get’s a custom painted pokeball that’s been painted yellow and has the instinct symbol emblazoned on the front.

“There is also a seal kit in there, they are popular in the sinnoh region for contests and it seemed like something you’d enjoy trying out.”

OH! OH BOY. PRESENTS FLYING IN. well, not really flying in, he thinks with a chuckle, just sliding under the christmas tree after an extremely well timed throw from spark. the laboratory is full of lights and decorations, the four of them all celebrating together, and for some reason he didn't... expect presents. he made them for others, of course, he would never not do them —— but for himself? he really didn't think about it. the presents, all of them, come as sweet surprises.

and spark's present makes him chuckle happily! how can't it? he picks it up and puts it on immediately, pushing the sides down to cover well neck and ears. the cloth eevee's ones stand on his head amusingly, making everyone in the room chuckle as well.

« it's because of all those times i caught a chill and my ears hurt for days because i didn't cover them? » he asks laughing. « thank you spark! i love it! »

Thus, he put on the Clefairy Warm Hat. “What is your opinion?”

Okay. Okay, steady. He’s taller and heavier but by Arceus he was cradled like a baby when she managed.

There’s always a day, at some point, on which Jay wakes up feeling not so well. Sometimes it’s just fleeting melancholy, some other times it’s much worse, but it’s mostly just a nagging feeling that goes mostly ignored thanks to a resting bitch face that keeps everything hidden. And this morning, waking up huddled up against Spark, forehead against his shoulder blades and an arm around his waist... 

He feels it squeeze in his chest and climb up his throat. Says nothing about it when they get breakfast. Not even the morning jog and the shower brought his mood back in the neutral zone. 

He’s undeserving of this. He’s got secrets, so many of them, and yet Spark puts his trust in him like it’s the most natural thing to do. He’s not even close to being in the same league as his partner. A ray of sunshine deserves better than a criminal riddled with unaddressed trauma and with so many skeletons in the closet that the door looks ready to bust. Someone who’s love language is stunted at best, because he feels it... differently. 

There’s only one thing he can do about all that, and the thought of coming clean about all of it is terrifying. Many people would run off at the first sentence, even. Others would be mad that he’s been hiding things for so long. 

He owes Spark that much. The man’s been a trooper already when they breached the whole ‘so you’re Team Aqua, right’ case. It’s more than Jay deserves. 

Looking up from his coffee to Spark, Jay pauses as he watches the other putting clean dishes away. Nibbles on the inside of his lower lip. Breathes in.

“Hey, babe, there’s uh. I.” Wow. Shit start. Jay looks at the wall for a bit to pause and steel himself. “Do you mind if. We uh. Sit on the couch? I. Maybe? have another heart-to-heart? Like. Y’know. When we talked ‘bout—” He vaguely gestures. Yeah, just like that whole Aqua conversation.

Additional facts:

Amo didn’t develop properly in the egg and couldn’t hatch on her own so blanche had to break the egg open manually. They are smaller and more delayed then others of their species.

Needed extra attention and despite now almost being a year old, Amo doesn’t yet have all her tails and she’s still small an’ a little wobbly on her feet but she’s doing better then she used to! and blanche is so proud.

She has very big paws!! blanche is hoping she’ll grow into them but you can hear her coming from a mile away

Finds great amusement in freezing her food and then crying at blanche two minutes later because it’s still frozen and now she can’t eat it

She can’t quite bark and instead makes a little AA sound when she tries.
