So this is a genuine question and I’m not trying to be passive-aggressive or step on any toes. But why does the plushie community seem to care so little about fakes and knockoffs?

It’s just...personally really interesting to me coming in from BJDs. In that community, fakes/recasts are kind of a huge deal. They’re a wildly controversial topic to the point where the biggest forum for BJD collecting (Den of Angels) straight up bans any discussion of them at all, and you can basically get blacklisted from large swathes of the community if it ever gets out that you own a counterfeit doll. Meanwhile, I see people casually own up to owning fakies of plush toys, or admitting bluntly that they are considering buying a fake. Some will even frankly discuss the merits of the bootlegs versus the originals. 

Does it boil down to BJDs being mostly made by independent artists or tiny companies, while a lot of plush toys are manufactured by larger companies that aren’t hurting for money? I have noticed that people do seem to get a bit more upset when sellers from, say, Aliexpress, start offering a plush that is directly copied from a smalltime seller on Etsy. On the other hand, I’ve seen some borderline cases too. For example, the knockoff Lalafanfan ducks are prolific to the point where it’s actually harder to find photos of the genuine product, and I don’t think the company that made the originals is particularly huge or anything. (Disclaimer that I’m very not well versed in Korean companies, so please correct me if I’m wrong.) And yet nobody really seems to mind.

Again, I am not making any value judgments here. I’m genuinely curious as to why the attitudes of these two communities seem to differ so much.

Hey tumblr! I need a bit of help identifying the brand of my stuffed dog here. Just out of curiosity since I've had him since I was a tiny baby, and he's been with me through a lot! (For further help with identification, he used to be holding a heart and his ears used to be pinned up!)

Local pet stores were out of everything right after Thanksgiving/Black Friday, so we had to improvise while we waited for a hanging water bowl to arrive. It was, briefly, cold enough that we didn't want to risk any chance of water spilling in the crate (the a/c is back on, now, of course).

I have some cups that were purchased specifically to be difficult to spill on any surface, like this 5-cup enamel one (a little more than a liter), and it did pretty well as a stopgap water bowl in the crate.
