Proton
Hello hello ! Here now I can share one of the games prototypes I've made recently for school ! And this one is a complete neat playable demo with all the necessary feedbacks and no bugs I'm super proud ! Proton is a complete Twin Stick shooter demo I created using Unreal Engine 4 during my Game Design degree !
We had to make a Twin Stick Shooter in 3 weeks as groups of 3, and we designed a very original twin stick shooter that has very developed movement mechanics using the shots of the player !
You can learn more on the Itch.io page !

Heres and oooold post. That I realized I never actually posted this. It is the target piece for Avast Ye, the student game that I art directed in college. This piece took me upwards of 50+ hours and its honestly one of the things I'm most proud of that I've ever created. I think I'll post more of my art from that game. And you can actually check it out on steam. Also the ship in a bottle was drawn by the insanely talented @lastmosquito #art #artist#illustration #gamedesign#gamedev#gameart#studentgame#digitalart#photoshop#characterdesign https://www.instagram.com/p/CcUqbS7r1cx/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Hi! Dylan (test lead, production assistant + whatever else needs doing) here,
GrrGrr doesn’t have her animations in yet but we are happy with her AI. The little red and blue dots are tools that let GrrGrr jump different heights depending on which one the level designer places.
Here you can see GrrGrr walking towards the player character, jumping different heights based on the jump tool and shooting the player when she gets close enough.
Looking forward to sharing the boss level with you all

Sell Sheets! Round 2
Making a Sell Sheet for our game was...interesting. Featuring such challenges as; paper shortages, formatting details taking hours longer than anticipated, and somehow 2 A5 PDfs not being the same size when it came to printing...

Lesson of the Day - Don’t be afraid to think outside the box, a Sell Sheet doesn’t have to be a sheet of paper.

6 Month: Post 19
Today was a good day I created a script that would make the cube bounce every few seconds. This helps to prevent a player from being stuck and helps to remove some of the players feeling of randomness and frustration. Tomorrow I’m going to make the games main and pause menus. Then after I finished the game design stuff for the day I worked on the rigs muscle triceps structures.

Teaching Code is Easy - #5
We are very excited to announce that our Student Gallery is live. This features all of the games that our students have created. At the moment we have put up many of the games, however there are still are number to put up. If you want to take a look - go to the student gallery page.

It looks like this:
One of our main reasons for being is to stimulate and encourage creativity. Our students start developing their game from a blank canvas and use 'real' code in the creation process. We are toying with drag and drop coding environments such as Stencyl but only as a bridging exercise to onboard students into the real world of coding. To say that you have 'taught people to code' using only drag and drop environments is to us anathema! We have said it before and we'll say it again: Coding or better still software development is about teamwork, creativity, learning, problem finding, discovery and fixing and building better solutions. It crosses over into design and business analysis and requires some degree of project management skill. It necessitates the proficient use of several tools to be successful. Take all this and add a few hundred lines of code!
When we state it like this it doesn't seem that easy, however we have found it is possible to create a microcosm of this world when you have the right teachers with the right experience. It is one thing to have someone who has had a 'course in coding' as your teacher but quite another to have an experienced professional of some 5-10 years who is eager and proficient at passing on their craft.
This was meant to be a short post so I'll leave it there. Keep coding and be creative!
We are a Sydney based company that teaches coding, robotics and web design/development through our holiday codecamps and other programmes. Please reach out to us if you want any help with or simply want to chat!
