Why are Americans so insistent of applying their understanding of ethnicity on everybody that isn’t American, especially the term POC ? Doesn’t it cross their mind that their conception is American and thus can’t be applied to their countries and people ?
People from the USA are very isolated and barely ever interact with people from other cultures (and if they ever do, like with people on the internet or foreign exchange students, it's the non-USA people making the effort to completely accommodate to the Americans, both through using their language and mental framework / worldview).
Unlike the rest of the world, 99% of the time they only watch movies made in their own country/language, listen to music only in English, follow social media only of people in English, their TV news don't care about what happens in the rest of the world unless it directly impacts them, etc.
We have to hear what people from the USA say all the time, but they have all media revolving around them so they don't have to listen to anyone else. That's why they're very ignorant of the rest of the world. When I went to there, my classmates asked me in all seriousness if I had ever seen the internet before going to the USA, another asked me if we have computers in Europe. They were NOT joking. If that's the level of many people, how can you expect them to understand how cultures have different conceptions of the world? They think they are universal.

I’m gonna go over all of Lila Rossi’s lies to determine whether, in my opinion, the class should have caught on or not
So first up we have Lila arriving at school for the first time in Volpina, with several lies already spread around. The noted lies include the following:
1. Lila knows Prince Ali and flew in his private jet with him
2. Jagged Stone wrote a song about Lila
3. Lila knows all the Hollywood directors, notably Steven Basielberg
4. Ladybug has saved Lila’s life
And right off the bat, I have to say… meh. For the akuma class none of this is particularly out there. Rose has met and been on effectively a date with Prince Ali, Jagged Stone has interacted with the class and especially Marinette before, Ladybug saving Lila’s life is hardly a big deal at this point, even the ‘knows all the Hollywood directors’ part can easily be explained as Nino exaggerating a bit. For the akuma class, this isn’t a shock. This may be a reason for them to grow curious, but not yet suspicious (though I will admit I find it surprising that at no point is it clarified if anyone knows which of Jagged’s songs is dedicated to Lila or if they’ve asked her or tried to look it up)
Lila then claims, both to Adrien and on the Ladyblog, that she and Ladybug are very close friends. This early in the show I can’t fault Adrien for not being overly suspicious despite his inside knowledge as Chat Noir; nobody knows Ladybug well enough to be able to confidently say that she wouldn’t have made a close civilian friend in her hero form, especially since Alya has proof that Ladybug has taken a liking to her through episodes such as The Mime and Lady WiFi. I’ll let people off here
I’ll ignore the initial Volpina lie since that gets debunked almost immediately, though I do find it impressive that she’s a completely unheard of hero that’s supposedly more celebrated than Ladybug
(Also this is completely unrelated but why was Chat I’ll-Spend-An-Entire-Season-Pissed-About-Not-Being-A-Duo Noir so damn quick to say ‘oh a new superhero, guess we have a new partner’? And manipulative akumatised liar or not Volpina was also EXTRA quick to start dishing out orders like damn they really moved so fast no wonder LB was confused and distrustful as hell I don’t blame her)
Okay we’ll ignore all the Volpina lies since the illusions make it impossible to fact check, meaning we skip straight to Lila’s next lie in Catalyst, where she tells the class via a video call that she’s currently in Achu after being invited by Prince Ali himself. When Marinette points out that Ali is currently in the USA, Lila technically tells the truth by countering that she never said Ali would be joining her at the palace. At this point it’s been established already that Lila supposedly is friendly with Ali so I don’t blame anyone for not immediately questioning things, though I’d have thought Rose would have mentioned this stuff to Ali if they’re still in communication. To be fair though there’s no evidence that they ARE still in contact so I’ll give Lila and the class the benefit of the doubt. My BIGGER problem is that Lila is CLEARLY JUST SAT IN FRONT OF A PICTURE, which she GESTURES TO TO INDICATE THE SUNSET!! Do these people not have EYES?
Speaking of eyes, let’s cut to Chameleon, shall we? The episode starts with Marinette thinking the class moved everyone around so she could sit next to Adrien, only to then realise she was sitting at the back in order to accommodate a student with hearing difficulties. Marinette is totally cool with this until she realises it’s Lila that she’s accommodating and then she gets mad at her and claims she’s faking her hearing disability (yes, tinnitus counts as a disability, I double-checked to be sure) which angers the class
And you know what? Aside from the ‘I, a random teenage girl, was able to access the runway at an airport and save a celebrity’s kitten from being RUN OVER BY A PLANE despite the fact that Jagged surely wouldn’t fly on a public airline’ lie that really should’ve raised alarm bells… I’m going with the controversial opinion here; I’m with the class on this one
Honestly, the whole premise of this scene is kinda shitty; people don’t just fake disabilities, at least not like Lila did. That’s a stereotype used to denounce people with actual disabilities by claiming they’re faking it in order to excuse inaccessibility and treatment otherwise incompatible with such a disability. It’s just kind of perpetuating that idea that people will do this. And Marinette doesn’t technically KNOW that Lila is lying about having tinnitus. Sure, she’s lying about how she got it, but it’s not something out of the question for Lila to genuinely be afflicted by. Marinette immediately yelling that she’s lying isn’t a good look for her. And yeah, we as the audience know to expect Lila to lie and we support Marinette because of this, but from the perspective of the class this really cool girl they’re all friends with is being treated in a pretty ableist manner by Marinette, even if Marinette’s issue isn’t the disability but Lila lying and having ulterior motives. You don’t stand up and denounce someone’s disability just because you don’t like them, and from the class’ perspective - hell, from any perspective - that’s what Marinette did, regardless of her being correct or incorrect, the way she went about it was wrong
We then get the same case with Lila’s sprained wrist and- okay how many fake injuries/disabilities is Lila gonna have in one day before she thinks ‘hey, maybe this is kind of offensive and over the top for the first day back?’ Anyway, Marinette calls her out to Alya and Nino as faking her wrist injury as well as bringing up the tinnitus thing again, so once again denouncing injuries and disabilities. Not a great look. When Alya calls Marinette out on this and asks her why she hates someone she barely knows, Marinette explains that she followed Lila back in Volpina, then claims that Lila totally doesn’t know Ladybug. Nino starts off calling Marinette out on stalking and then Alya, to her credit, does try to give Marinette the benefit of the doubt by asking if she has any way of proving that Lila doesn’t know Ladybug. Of course, Marinette falters here, but then she throws the napkin at Lila to cover herself and prove Lila’s wrist is fine
Lila catches the napkin with her supposedly sprained wrist, then drops it with a cry of pain after Marinette calls her out. The funny part here is that Lila can actually get herself out of this one without even lying; she can absolutely just say it was a reflex to catch it and it took a moment for the pain to register since she was acting on instinct. That’s believable enough, right? But then she has to complicate it further instead, with possibly her most stupid lie to this date; “Uh, ow! Once when I was in India, I witnessed someone getting their eye gouged out by the corner of a napkin. If I hadn't caught it, this napkin could've injured Max. I didn't have a choice. Ow!”
First off, how the hell do you gouge out someone’s eye with just a napkin? You’d have to have something with the napkin, right? Second, the napkin had been thrown with nothing behind it, even if it hit someone directly in the eye it couldn’t possibly do any notable harm. Third, with the direction that napkin was going, if it did manage to go far enough to hit Max he would’ve been hit in the lower torso, not even close to his face, let alone his eye. Fourth, Max wears glasses, even if that napkin was capable of gouging out his eye and it was directly on route to his eye, his glasses would have protected his eye
So I’m gonna say it’s completely fair for the class to still be mad at Marinette for her actions, regardless of whether or not her claims are correct, but THERE IS NO WAY THESE KIDS SHOULD HAVE BELIEVED THAT LIE. These kids are all 13-14, most of them have proven to be incredibly smart, Max himself has even created sentient life forms in the form of Markov. They were already on thin, thin ice with the cat on the runway comment but I gave them the benefit of the doubt for being distracted in the moment, but this is a much more egregious and obvious lie that I just can’t excuse. This is the point where, even if they’re still on Lila’s side, they should be aware she lied
Loving how Adrien calls Lila out after the bathroom scene, but we get more Lila info on her being the niece of a famous pianist and how she had to stop playing due to arthritis and- seriously?? Another disability?? That’s the third one in half an episode! Okay to be fair to Lila we don’t actually have any proof that either of these things are lies but the way this episode is structured implies that it’s supposed to be a lie. I won’t count it either way since it gets no reception from Adrien but it’s worth pointing out. Also gonna ignore her lies as Chameleon since they serve the same purpose as her Volpina lies
At the end of the episode, Lila’s lies include Ladybug giving her an earplug for her right ear to help with her tinnitus, which Marinette calls upon in canon. I’ll admit, I hated at first how Adrien responded to Marinette preparing to call Lila out with effectively ‘don’t hurt Lila’s feelings, let her lie to people’, in fact I still do hate it since that’s toxic advice, but you know what? It fits in with Adrien’s major peacekeeping/fawning tendencies developed from Gabriel’s neglect and abuse; he’s encouraging Marinette not to rock the boat because that’s all he knows. It’s still far from good, and it’s still being an enabler, but it makes sense. So I’ll take it, I guess. I just wish they hadn’t portrayed that as the lesson of the episode being ‘calling people out on their bad actions might make them sad so you shouldn’t do it’
I also love how, despite supposedly trying to stay on good terms with Marinette, the moment the girls are both sat together Lila claims she magically lost her tinnitus (a valid lie considering the earplug lie from before from a magical girl but the timing is still funny as hell) and does her best to sit with Adrien again. And then the others don’t let it happen by going back to their normal seats and she’s lost. Brilliant
At this point we have no point in still going since we’ve established a clear point where Lila’s apparently iron-clad credibility should have been at very least significantly chipped away at, but there’s just one more episode I’d like to discuss; Ladybug. In this episode, Lila starts by framing Marinette for cheating on a test. For once, the class do do their best to support Marinette here, noting how Marinette constantly performs well in class, how it’s very unlike Marinette to do something like this and Alya even adding that she knows Marinette studied for this test. I’m glad everyone acknowledges how out of character this is for Marinette, I’d have been so mad if they were just annoyed with her for cheating. But ultimately they do still believe Lila and back Lila up when Marinette accuses her of framing her. I’ll give Lila credit where it’s due, deliberately flunking the test was a bold move (also wtf Bustier you don’t just announce that Lila got the lowest score in the class even I’m with Lila on that one we don’t need to publicly shame her academically)
After this we have Lila faking being pushed down the stairs and I just… there are HUGE windows overlooking the whole scene, how did not a single person notice Lila faking? And surely there are security cameras, right? At my normal-ass high school in the back-end of butt-fuck nowhere there were 360° security cameras and everything all over the place, but this rich-ass college with multiple celebrity children in the middle of Paris doesn’t have a single regular camera? I ain’t buying it. This incident warrants a look at the security cameras. Though my third point about this incident is how they later show Lila’s knee bandaged up and I just- who did it? The nurse? The same nurse that treated her sprained wrist in Chameleon? This nurse needs to lose her job, she should know Lila’s leg is fine. There wouldn’t even be any bruising ffs. The girl supposedly fell down several metal steps onto what looks like concrete, yet there’s not a damn scratch on her!
And then we come to the necklace, and I just- look at how that necklace fell out of Marinette’s locker the moment she opened it, it was clearly shoved through the slats in the door and probably got caught on some part of the door. That would explain how it popped out the moment the door opened. And don’t you think that Marinette would be slightly more careful to hide something she stole like that? At that point if you still think she stole it the embarrassment of being so bad at it should be punishment enough
And then Marinette is immediately expelled??? Do the writers not know how expulsion works? Or is it just Lila’s IQ-lowering radius taking effect? Because this whole scenario just doesn’t work. Suspension, sure thing, but I’ve seen people still stay on after doing wayyy worse. I could be wrong but at the very least she’d be suspended and then after a long discussion she’d be told not to come back, right?
But we’re getting a bit off-track; Lila now needs to undo all of her lies to get Marinette back into school. And this is where the lie that absolutely breaks Lila’s character comes in:
Her compulsive lying disease
Something like that surely has to be communicated to Lila’s classmates, right? And Marinette can still say that’s what Lila’s story was. So the class totally knows. Which means they can’t possibly say that Lila doesn’t lie, right? So after that episode, the class should be aware that anything Lila says or does could be a result of this compulsive lying disease, meaning they should be more open to accepting her lies even if they choose in good faith not to call her out. But no, everyone still thinks she never lies despite literally claiming to have a compulsive lying disease. Those are contradictory statements as it is, don’t tell me you still hang on her every word like it was the eleventh commandment
Chameleon should have cracked her credibility severely, but Ladybug should’ve Cataclysmed it, even if she could still remain popular and well-liked through the sense of ‘she doesn’t mean it, poor Lila just has a condition’. But not only is her flawless reputation still intact, it was never challenged at all? You can’t admit you have a lying problem and still have people trust your every word! At least give a moment where she tells the class she lied about her lying disease in order to get Marinette back into school because she never wanted it to go that far or something like that
So yeah, Chameleon should be the point where, if they haven’t looked up any of Lila’s lies even for the sake of proving Marinette wrong or wanting to engage with Lila’s lies under the belief that they’re true (i.e. looking up which Jagged song was written about Lila so they can listen to it, looking up if Lila was in the news for saving Jagged’s cat or even looking up the cat for the sake of seeing a cute cat, etc etc) they should now be like ‘okay she’s clearly making up lies’ even if they’re also mad at Marinette’s actions

Hi! Recently diagnosed teenager here do you know of any resources around going to college?
Your blog is great, thanks.
Hey, so I’m not sure where you are, so I tried to find resources that are kind of helpful regardless. It’s been a while so this might not apply anymore, but I want to put it out there for anyone who might benefit from it. These are some things I found that might have some good information:
This is an article with a lot of good information. it is from an organization based in the UK, but is really helpful regardless of where you live:
https://www.autism.org.uk/advice-and-guidance/topics/transitions/scotland/starting-college-or-university
This is a list of information about the transition to university/collage for autistic people, along with resources on how to pursue a diagnosis, and access accommodations and supports. It’s based in Canada.
https://www.transitionresourceguide.ca/learn-about-accessibility/specific-disability-information/autism-spectrum-disorder-asd
This is a resource on collage living for autistic adults. It is USA based.
https://www.autism-society.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/CollegeLiving.pdf
This is a personal piece about going to collage as a late-diagnosed autistic that you may find helpful:
https://medium.com/artfullyautistic/im-an-autistic-college-student-3-things-i-wish-i-knew-before-my-first-semester-cfc4c72c4cae
I also found this resource which helps you discover a collage that works for you. (USA based)
On the same site I found a piece which is about your rights as a student and could be very helpful. It includes disability, gender, civil, and other legal rights protections for students in the United States and resources for prospective or current collage students.
https://www.affordablecollegesonline.org/college-resource-center/college-student-rights/
This is a book I’ve never read, but may be relevant:
https://www.amazon.ca/Freshman-Survival-Students-Spectrum-Disorders/dp/1849059845
I’ve actually been dealing with planning to go to university in the next few years (I’m 18 and if everything goes well going to graduate high school in the next few years) and so I can share the stuff I’ve done with my team at the school:
All universities or collages will list the academic accommodations that they offer online, and I’m not 100% sure about all universities, but ones I’ve looked into have had a person in a disability services focused role. If you cannot find this information online or want more details you can contact the admissions office for further help.
Consider both the academic and non-academic aspects of college and identify things you will need to be able to do. As well as thinking of stuff you don’t know yet, also take note of things you know you can do. Then find a do-able way to focus on acquiring the experience or skills needed to do the things you can’t yet, and figuring out work-arounds for things you have difficulty with.
Learn your legal rights as a disabled student where you live. Honestly knowing the laws around your rights can help you in so many ways, even to feel more confident and comfortable.
Best of luck, I hope these help but don’t worry if they don’t- everyone’s path is different! A really hard part of being autistic is not being able to have an example of what your journey might be like- so please message or send an ask if you would like help with anything else, to give feedback, or to have a friend 😁

Could I have the host club (all the guys from OHSHC) reacting to a female student who has a learning disorder, and a shy demeanor??
I did look into some learning disorders so I hope I wrote this alright. If I made any mistakes then please let me know!
.
Hikaru
Probably doesn’t notice you at first because of you being shy. But one day he’s partnered with you because your grades are tragic and hopefully he can maybe help you??
At first he wants to be annoyed with you but then he realizes that you’re trying. You’re trying so hard but things aren’t clicking right. Letters and numbers look off.
Hikaru would take a deep breath before he tries to help you. He’s not the best student but he knows you’re struggling and does find it kind of crap that no one has noticed previously?
He isn’t the most patient person but he still tries to help out. Probably attempts to relate equations to real world things. Or just something that can be related to instead of being on paper.
He’ll absolutely go to the teacher or principal and mention accommodations for you (he’ll describe you as opposed to blurting out your name since he doesn’t want this to get back to you and you feeling embarrassed).
Honey
He is just super sweet as he’s attempting to help you. Offering you sweets as well when you get something after all of your attempts because you should be rewarded for doing so well!
Might accidentally end up babying you a bit but if you let him know then he’ll apologize and do his best to treat you better than that.
Would gladly let you hold Usa-chan if you’re starting to feel frustrated. He hopes that the bunny can make you feel happier or help you calm down.
Honey is pretty good when it comes to understand other’s feelings so he’s definitely willing to take a break from the academics to just listen to you if you need to rant or let out your frustrations.
Would absolutely come up with an excuse for the two of you to leave class early so you don’t have to be in that environment when talking.
Kaoru
Kaoru’s favorite subjects are literature so helping you with math or science is a struggle for both of you.
He does his best to teach you different styles that helped him out when he struggled a lot. Might try to look at problems from a different perspective to help you out too. Just honestly trying different methods and hoping one really sticks.
Kaoru is a lot more patient than his brother so he’ll gladly allow you to attempt to focus or try to do a problem on your own before he’d step in and help. Also would like you to get comfortable around him since you’re shy. He doesn’t want to force anything.
He would ask you if you would like a tutor because he could definitely help you there. He’s not going to force you if you’re uncomfortable with it, but he does want to help out.
Would absolutely treat you to something nice (food-related) after study sessions as a way of letting you know that you did great.
Kyoya
Kyoya is really smart and probably has all sorts of knowledge with different types of notetaking and different equations so he can definitely help you with trying to teach you a different way to do something to see if that sticks better.
Kyoya isn’t too talkative himself so you being shy is fine by him. He’ll try not to fluster you too much (even though it’s amusing).
Kyoya isn’t the most patient person when he’s waiting on you to try and figure out a problem. He understands that you have difficulties but he just doesn’t have patience. He won’t get upset at you or anything. He might just go to writing in his book to have something to do.
Would offer you different items to help you out if you have trouble sitting still. There’s many different fidget toys and he’ll see if he can pull some strings for the teacher to allow you to have them.
He’d look into if the school does have learning programs or anything since that would be good for you. He’s definitely cold on the surface but is seeing what he can do to help.
Mori
When he notices that you’re shy then he’ll do his best to try to be less intimidating. He is a rather tall guy and his whole “quiet demeanor” doesn’t really help, but he does his best to not upset you.
Would definitely help point things out in problems or in reading as key things so you could avoid the rest of the sentence/equation.
Mori would offer to read to you if you have difficulty reading yourself. He hopes that listening would be an alternative that, if it works, can help a lot in the long run.
Would give you candy to help you out. Like a lollipop to suck on while doing problems to see if that helps with focusing? Mori is in the category of try everything and see what works best.
If you allow him, he’d be happy to give you a pat on the head at the end of the day because you did good.
Tamaki
Tamaki can’t sit still and always needs to be doing something so he probably has some fidget toys that he’d be glad to share with you to see if they help you like they help him.
He’s not the most academic student but would be glad to ask Kyoya for help. Then again, with you being shy he might not want to make things worse by throwing in someone else you don’t know.
Finds your shyness absolutely adorable, by the way. He’d let you know that too, not realizing how much it potentially flusters you.
Would gladly help tutor you in literature or other languages should you be struggling in those. Extra study sessions with commoner coffee and sweets coming right up!
Honestly, he’d be glad to just listen to you as well instead of always doing the talking. He’s trying to help, but perhaps you also have input as well. Together the two of you will find better ways to learn! (he is very dramatic about the whole thing)

Don't you think "tearing shit down" is more feasable when you're not trying to survive on the streets? Yeah, you have less time and energy, but you have more resources. It's easier to cool down when you have a roof over your head. Also yeah, all these situations you mentioned suck emensly, but how would, let's say, that teacher's life improve if she left her job and lived on the street with her kids. if her students had one less teacher?
Contextually speaking in the USA most teachers are not paid to educate - they are babysitters with student loans. This was essentially proven with the gusto behind sending kids back to school during the pandemic. Absolutely no concern was shown for the safety and wellbeing of the teachers.
Teachers are one of the most criminally underpaid and underappreciated professions out there - (alongside sanitation workers fwiw) - and a mass exodus of teachers from public schools would literally grind this country to a halt since the vast majority of parents cannot afford accommodations for their own children.
Few things would make the absurdity of our work-life dynamic more apparent than a complete shutdown of the public school system. It's not like the kids are missing out on much with the absence of the propaganda apparatus we call a school system.
Get the kids involved with pertinent tasks. Develop community programs, clean up the roadsides, plant some trees, encourage learning via literally any other method than sitting in a cramped prison room for an entire workday repeating "The mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell."
Tearing shit down as a teacher means rejecting an education system which has been proven counterproductive to the health and wellbeing of those children. It means creating new scientifically informed alternatives without giving a fuck what the government thinks.
#ask for bread#and if they do not give it ask for work#and if they do not give you work#then steal the bread#We asked for bread and they gave us misery

im sorry, i saw the last post about rising the wages in usa
and im confused? cos like if yall are complaining about getting 14$ per hour, when that shit is literally close to double the amount people earn on average in my country (sk, in eu) ????? please :|
and the highest tax from personal income you got is 10.75%???? ...we got 20%
uhmmm what
okay.
if you account for inflation and the cost of living in the us a living wage SHOULD be closer to $25 an hour.
our federal minimum wage has been stuck at $7.25 since 2009.
it should have been $15 an hour years ago because now THAT is considered just barely scraping by. THAT is why people say $14/$15 isn't enough-because it ISN'T. generally/statistically speaking a single person on a full time income of $7.25 an hour would not be able to afford to rent an apartment or home anywhere (excluding truly horrible living accommodations and pure luck) in the united states. for $15 an hour you can scrape by at a living wage but good luck trying to save or have anything for an emergency-especially if you still have student loans or medical debt. you can do it but you'll be living carefully.
and if youre poo-poo'ing that WE are complaining.... baby you're getting underpaid too. call your government officials. direct your please :| at your government and ask why they havent raised your minimum wage.
tax brackets. slovakia has one at 19%, a government tax. we have seven. you listed our lowest tax bracket but ours go 10%, 12%, 22%, 24%, 32%, 35%, and 37% depending on your income. you have no local taxes. we have to pay state and local taxes on top of federal. so many low-income americans are paying just as much if not more than 19% in yearly tax. i wont even get started on individual state sales taxes because that's a whole other mess.
your higher tax makes sense and most likely actually pays for your country's infrastructure. i would gladly pay 20% personal tax if that meant that our interstate bridges didn't fall apart because they were neglected for twenty years.

I'm sorry if this seems intrusive but have you every considered getting medicated for your ADHD? I have it too, and if you're having so many issues you should do something about it. I know it seems like a personal attack when people compliment your efforts in one area and then tell you you aren't good enough in others, but that's not an issue of them not accommodating you enough that's an issue of your ADHD being completely unmanaged (taking things too personally is also a symptom of ADHD, fyi).
Anon, your concern is appreciated, but how do you know that I’m not on medication? I’m sure you only sent this in an attempt to be helpful, but if someone says they have issues that they know are caused by ADHD, why would you assume that they haven’t tried to do something to make their lives easier?
I was diagnosed with ADHD years and years ago. I have spent well over half of my life trying to find ways to cope with it. In fact I have far fewer issues than I used to because of all the work I've put in on managing my symptoms.
There’s a reason we call it managing symptoms and not curing them. It does not matter how good I am at managing ADHD, there will always be off days where some of the tips and tricks and workarounds just won’t be enough.
Not that it’s anyone’s business, but I do take ADHD medication. Yeah, it’s incredibly helpful, but it doesn’t magically make me neurotypical.* Medication will not change how our society is structured, nor how hostile it is to people outside the "norm".
The point of that post wasn’t me saying that people are mean or that I can’t take criticism. The point was that no matter how hard I try, my inability to function in an acceptable way can have very real consequences.
I mentioned failing classes. I live in the USA, where having to take additional semesters can cost thousands of dollars. And I failed these classes not because I didn’t understand them - instructor after instructor has told me that I was one of the best students in class - but because I turned things in late. If everyone else perceived time in the same skewed way that I do, I would not have been fired from as many jobs as I have, or had my housing at risk because I lost track of which day of the month it was.
I’m not taking things personally, I’m upset at how much I try and I struggle, and yet because my struggles are invisible to most people, our society will still look at me and say “but maybe you haven’t tried hard enough.” My school will still say, “well regardless of her actual skills and knowledge, she didn’t complete an assignment on time so objectively we have to say that she failed and didn’t understand the material.”
There are so very very many ways our society punishes people who don’t meet its standards of perfection, and the worst part is that lots of people assume it’s intrinsically correct. As if there’s some immutable Law of the Universe that says “sorry, but 3 late stamps on your time card lowers your value as a capitalist asset human person. Maybe you should have tried harder.”
*not to mention the vast number of reasons people might not be able to take ADHD meds, like price, legality, other health issues...
#adhd#in which i say things#this got long#but i have a lot of feelings#ask#anon#i'm sure anon wasn't trying to be rude but saying that i haven't done anything to manage my adhd set me off

#DREDGENS: an independent and private multi-muse for various characters from mixed media sources— both canon and original. written by gabrielle. rules/directory can be found beneath the cut.
this is an independent and private multi-muse for an array of characters from mixed media sources. i do not claim ownership over any characters found on this blog— excluding the originals. this blog is purely for entertainment purposes and should be treated as such.
basic roleplay etiquette/human decency is expected when interacting with me. no reply-pestering, no force-shipping, no stealing, etcetera. i have a zero-tolerance policy for bullshit and curate my space accordingly. i also use my block button liberally.
activity level is classified as low. this blog isn’t my only blog, nor is tumblr my first priority. i’m a full-time university student and my activity will reflect that.
while most of my characters are canon compliant, some are not. those divergences, due to my own laziness, have not been entirely documented— if you have any questions, please ask me. it’s always better to ask, rather than to assume things. i do get offended by such things. i also ask you to not immediately assume our characters are in a relationship, even if it’s a canonical relationship in the media. unless plotted otherwise, all interactions will be treated as platonic.
formatting is subject to constant change. i tend to stick with small text for the sanity of my mutuals, as well as bold and italics. if you need me to accommodate for accessibility reasons— please let me know! my icon psd is an edited variation of electric by graphicsrp. (whose deviantart no longer exists.)
triggering content is a given on this blog. while all triggers will be tagged in the format of #trigger tw, i am human and sometimes forget. if that happens, kindly let me know! otherwise, if you need anything accommodated for, i’m more than happy to oblige. i have no personal triggers.
shipping is not a priority. if the muns and muses have chemistry, i’m more than happy to discuss a potential dynamic. otherwise, as stated before, i treat all interactions as platonic. smut most likely will not be written here, even though i am of age.
mun is gabrielle, 21, she/her pronouns. i’m a history major residing in the southern usa. i also love hayden christensen. discord is available to mutuals upon request! i look forward to writing with you!

Cognitive-Developmental Perspectives (Piagetian & Neo-Piagetian)
Jean Piaget
Swiss psychologist
Interested in how children think
Observed children completing tasks
Created a stage-theory of cognitive development
Increased in popularity in the USA during the 1960s
Why is Piaget important to study?
Foundational ideas for educational psychology (children are not little adults)
Key influence in cognitive theory
Important developmental considerations for teaching
Schemes
similar to schemas
understanding of the operations of something in the environment
begin basic and concrete, become more abstract
Process for Changing Schemes
Assimilation: applying an existing scheme to something new in the environment
Accommodation: adjusting or creating a new scheme based on new information in the environment
Stage Theory of Cognitive Development
Children are primed for learning.
Children think in ways that are different from adults, and they think in different ways during each stage.
Children move through stages in a linear way, though they may exhibit qualities of earlier stages, and they can progress through phases at different paces.
Children learn through discovering their environment.
(A) Sensorimotor Stage:
birth to 2 years
Initially, infants just respond to the environment; activities include eating, sleeping, basic reflexes.
Then, they become little scientists, exploring and developing an understanding of the world. This process is influenced by coordination of senses and motor movement.
object permanence: knowing that an object still exists after it is out of sight.
language development: having words to refer to objects in the world.
(B) Pre-operational Stage:
ages 2-6 years
Language allows for more complex thought, influencing cognition, emotion, and social interactions.
Characterized by egocentrism (only seeing their own perspective)
gradual move from parallel play to imaginative play
(C) Concrete Operations Stage:
ages 6-10 years
increase in organization and logic in thinking, specifically to concrete objects
conservation of matter
centration: focusing on one aspect of an object at once.
(D) Formal Operations Stage:
ages 10-12 years and up
increasing ability to think in more complex and abstract ways (e.g. can discuss topics like love, world peace, climate change)
more logic applied to topics they’re more knowledgeable about
“adolescent idealism”
suggested post-formal operational stage
Critiques of Piaget
No consideration for cultural influences
Underestimated abilities of young children
Overestimated abilities of adolescents
Influence of formal education on cognitive development
Lack of experimental control in his studies
Takeaways from Piaget
Discovery learning: exploring the environment and playing with objects in the environment is valuable; child-directed play is important!
Inquiry learning: making predictions, observing results, drawing conclusions.
Structure is important, especially for young children.
ex. creating science experiments for students to complete
Sociocognitive conflict: peers benefit from debating and learning from each other; they are more likely to test and challenge ideas from peers.

Hello! This is my first time asking for a romantic matchup ( OHSHC & Hunter x Hunter )! I'm a little nervous haha...
I go by the name Prince and my pronouns are : He/They. I'm an INFP and a 4'10" Pisces.
I have black, curly hair that ends above my shoulders with the left side shaved. I have brown eyes and a slightly tanned skin. I am Pilipino. I usually wear hoodies/jackets and shorts/jogging pants but I tend to wear elaborate androgynous clothing for occasions. My ears are pierced and I have a lot of scars on both my legs and arms due to skin asthma.
I'm a total introvert who would not leave the house unless necessary, and I tend to avoid large crowds and people since I have social anxiety. I'm quite distant, cold and awkward when I first meet people but I get really weird ( ahem, shameless.) and outgoing once I warm up to someone. I'm a worrywart and prone to have pessimistic/intrusive thoughts. My humor is dark and inappropriate, and very sexual. Although, I'm panromantic asexual. My love language are physical affection ( back hugs, cuddles, face peppering, playing with your hands, hand holding, & arm over the shoulder. ), and cheesy/corny flirts. I'm also a psychology student, an artist, a cosplayer, and a creative makeup artist. I enjoy horror films and historical novels. I like playing pranks on others, listening to all kinds of music, and dancing. I dream to be a full-time cosplayer or a psychologist. I like to travel the world as well, take photos, and, of course, watch anime and read manga! I like hanging out in a dimly lit bedroom, watching movies, or at an abandoned area ( parking lot, building, etc. ) I enjoy solitude and the dark. Oh! I'm scared of butterflies and allergic to dust.
My ideal type is someone who are understanding, accepting and patient. Someone who understands that I need space in order to recharge my energy to socialize again. Supportive, honest, and loyal. Perhaps someone who can love me just as much or much more as I love them. I'm a total sap and an affectionate person to the person I love. I'm the type to wake up every morning and message them, "Good morning, hun!" and I also check up on them if they're feeling well. Someone who isn't afraid to be themselves around me and can open their heart to me. That's the biggest trust they can give to me. Loving, caring, and perceptive.
Apart from that, I also like someone who can be submissive towards me. I find them to be cute and it makes me wanna bully them more for being so adorable :") ( Will spoil them to bits after ). I may be short but I do not enjoy being the little spoon/submissive partner.
SFW & NSFW
Hi Prince thanks for the request!
we love your personality you seem hella cool. admin san is very happy to have found someone shorter than her (she's 4'11") anyways for OHSHC we thought the best character for you would be................
USA CHAN
SFW
usa chan is perfect for you because you can do anything with it! it is very versatile! usa chan is down to walk around abandoned buildings, watch movies or dancing anytime, anywhere!
need some alone time? shove usa chan into a closet and you're done! it's that simple!
N/SFW
oh you want a sub? well guess what, usa chan cant fucking talk or do anything so it'll be your lil bitch
We even chose a runner up for you and that is...................
MORI SENPAI
SFW
Mori senpai may come across as a dom due to his height but worry not, our man is the perfect sub. In fact he's literally Honey senpai's subordinate for the whole show.
He would show affection in more understated ways such as remembering your birthday and every little thing you tell him. If you mentioned a manga or movie you like a few months ago he'd get you a physical copy of it.
He would also be super in tune with your feelings and try to accommodate to your needs for physical affection as much as he can
In terms of solitude and and staying inside Mori senpai would be the ideal cuddle partner for nights in watching movies
He would also protect you from all the butterflies in the world
The height difference would be no trouble to Mori either. You and Honey Senpai are basically the same height after all. Get used to having a tall subby lover following you around
Mori isn't the most fun to play a prank on, but he would be a great accessory for playing pranks on the rest of the club
N/SFW
You like to climb him like a tree and push him down on the bed. then have your way with him (whichever way that may be)
your dark and sexual humor may not outwardly get a response from Mori but you can tell by the blood flowing to his ears and nether regions that he is enjoying himself. he is a naughty boy shhhh
he'd be happy to receive all of your physical affection and give you some back as well
If you keep him up long enough by dancing and watching movies, he'll eventually grow sleepy. AND THATS WHEN THE (subby) BEAST AWAKENS BABYYYYYY. he's WAY more physically affectionate and flirtatious
And now for HxH to suit your affinity for music we chose........................................
MELODY
SFW
Any time you get nervous or have pessimistic thoughts she would play her flute to calm you down. If you allow her to, she's also willing to play the flute for when you get nervous in crowds or around strangers.
You and her could spend hours watching movies together with her commenting on the music of all the films you show her. Can't wait to make her listen those Hans Zimmer tracks
She would also enjoy hanging out with you in parks, maybe play you a gentle melody while y'all take in the night sky and peaceful atmosphere
She would also totally get your dark humor and wouldn't misconstrue it as a negative quality since she'll always know that the sound of your heart is pure and you are just joking
Physical affection would probably make her pretty flustered so you can always bully her about that. But she's pretty mature and will love you and shower you with affection in her own way.
N/SFW
In the bedroom she likes to start off by playing her flute at the frequency which makes your piercings vibrate, getting you in the mood.
Although at first she would be shy with kisses/bedroom stuff and blush beautifully when you tease her. She would slowly warm up to you once you really got going and would lap up all the pampering and love you shower her with afterwards
Your knowledge of sigmund freud's theories mixed with your skills at cosplay would allow you to present her with the perfect father daughter roleplay scenarios melody never thought she wanted
Melody's deft fingers would be proficient at getting herself off especially when she knows you're watching :)
Your Princesses, Admin Sar & Admin San

Comprehensive guide to writing deaf characters
Despite not being intented as a blog resource for writers, we get a lot of questions regarding how to write deaf characters. (and by a lot, I mean like half of questions are about writing)
Since lot of these questions are similar anyway, I wrote up this guide for anyone intending to add deaf characters into their writing. From now on, we shall only answer questions related to writing which AREN’T covered in this guide.
Please, keep in mind that deaf people aren’t a hive mind and this guide is based on our personal experience. We recommend a sensitivity deaf reader if you plan to make any deaf character a big part of your story.
Rest of guide under the cut.
Medical basics
- Deafness can be caused by many factors.
- For people born deaf, common causes are: genetics, illnesses of mother during pregnancy (and meds taken), complicated birth, premature birth, etc.
- For people who become deaf later in life: old age, noise damage, several infectious illnesses (for example meningitis), medication (cancer meds or certain antibiotics), tumours on auditory nerve and in brain, chronic inflammations of middle ear, etc.
- Most people with hearing loss still have some degree of hearing
Terminology
- “deaf” – person with hearing loss
- “hard of hearing” – person with hearing loss, still has some degree of hearing
- “Deaf” – person with hearing loss who is proud of their deafness, is member of Deaf community and culture, communicates in sign language
- “deafened” – person who lost their hearing in later life, often as adult
- “deaf and dumb” – old terminology, now considered insulting
- “hearing impaired” – medical term, often disliked by deaf people
Compensation
- Most hard of hearing and some deaf people wear hearing aids. Their function is similar to glasses, they enhances the remaining sense.
- Hearing aids are often pricey, not covered by insurance and need batteries to recharge
- They can be colourful, however most people use brown to make them less noticeable
- They need to be taken off for sleeping and bathing
- It’s considered rude to touch another’s person hearing aid. Hearing people should not try them out, as they can damage normal hearing.
- Cochlear implant are more complicated, require surgery to insert. They compromise of two parts – inner part (under skull), which stimulates hair cells in cochlea, and outer part (outside on the head and ear), which is sound processor, microphone and battery. Both parts are connected via magnet.
- Hearing via CI is more electrical than normal hearing and doesn’t sound same. After the operation, users must train their hearing and attend many sessions where CI is adjusted. It can take years for users to hear speech or use telephone. Success is very individual.
- CIs are often disliked and criticized by Deaf community as they are seen as a threat to Deaf culture and language. There is also a question of consent – for CI to be successful, children must be implanted at young age (1-7 years) and the decision is usually made by their hearing parents.
- Other compensation: Vibration and light alarms, alarm clocks, baby monitors, door bells. Special phones and headphones. Etc.
Communication
- Children who are born deaf cannot naturally acquire spoken language. (aka from their parents/family) It cannot be learned by lip-reading. They learn it as a second language, often at school.
- Despite the stereotype of deaf people being also mute, most deaf people can speak. However, they often have so called “deaf accents”, because they cannot hear themselves speak. Because of that, some deaf people prefer not to talk, to not be mocked for their accent.
- Natural language of deaf people are sign languages. They are not universal, they have their own grammar and rules, they are not simple pantomime and they are not easy to learn. (see Sign Languages)
- Not all deaf people use sign languages, especially those who become deafened later in life.
- There are specific communication system, which combine spoken languages and sign languages, often used in education. They usually use signs from sign languages and spoken language grammar. The most common is Pidgin Signed English (PSE) or Signing Exact English (SEE). Some deaf people use them instead of sign language, since they grew up with it.
- SimCom is simultaneous communication, speaking and using sign language at the same time. As its basically using two languages at one time, it’s difficult and one language often starts following grammatical structure of other.
- Lip-reading is taxing, difficult and often based on talent. It must be taught. To properly lip-read, there must be good light conditions and you must be able to see the face of speaker.
- Some deaf people use writing to communicate with hearing people – either with paper and pen, or on phone. This way of communication is often time-consuming.
- Deaf people often use interpreters to help them communicate. They usually accompany the deaf person to doctors, authorities, important meetings, etc.
Sign language
- Sign languages are natural languages and not created by one person. They appeared organically over time.
- Every country has their own national sign language. The ones most known and researched are ASL (American Sign Language), LFS (French Sign Language), BSL (British Sign Language), AUSLan (Australian Sign Language). There is about 137+ sign languages in the world.
- Grammar in sign languages is based on 3D spaces and use of face expressions and movement of body. Signs are composed of hands in specific shapes, their movement and placement on the body.
- Most sign language have their own finger alphabet. Most common are one-handed (ASL, LFS) and two-handed (BSL, AUSlan).
- Sign languages are not inferior to spoken languages and can express the same things.
- It takes time and dedication to learn any sign language. Usually at least 3 years for being able to communicate properly and more than 5 to be fluent.
- You can sign with just one hand (that’s how deaf people communicate while eating or holding something, for example)
Education
- Until 1970s, the most common way of teaching deaf children was oralism, a teaching tradition which supressed and forbid the use of sign language and insisted on deaf children learning to speak. It is still often used, despite the fact that many studies prove it fails to properly educate deaf people.
- Modern research has proven that use of sign language in education is beneficial for deaf children and helps them to better understand the material.
- Deaf children can either study at school for deaf or be integrated into regular school. Deaf schools used to be very common in past, as they were only available means of education for most deaf people. Kids lived in dormitories. Whether sign language was/is used there depends on the school. Some even had/have deaf teachers.
- Nowadays, most kids study in regular school along with hearing kids. If the school is good, they offer proper compensation – eg. interpreter in class, note taking services, hearing devices, etc. Some schools still sucks, however.
- Integrated kids can suffer from isolation, bullying and discrimination from teachers.
- There are colleges in USA which focus on deaf students and sign language. The most famous is Gallaudet University, Washington, D.C.
Family
- 90% of deaf kids are born to hearing parents. Hearing parents often struggle with the disability of their child. In general, lot of hearing parents prefer to give their kids CI, to make them more “hearing”.
- Deaf parents generally have hearing kids. Those kids are then called CODA – children of deaf adults. CODA often speak sign language well. In general, they are either very involved with Deaf community or not all and avoid it all costs. Lot of CODA children become interpreters.
- Every family is different in how they communicate. Some use sign language. Some only spoken language, requiring the deaf member to lip-read. Some use combination of two or create their own home signs. If only certain members of family learn to sign, it’s usually mother or some other female family member (sister, grandmother).
Deaf culture/community
- A community of Deaf individuals who use sign language as their primary means of communication, are proud of their deafness and their culture. They do not see their deafness as disability/disease, but something that connects them, makes them different from others.
- Deaf people often meet up in clubs, there is big emphasis on community, meeting together, communal experience, etc.
- Term “Deaf gain” is used – what deafness gives us, instead of the usual what deafness takes away from us. What is important is “seeing”, not “absence of hearing”.
- Deaf culture has its own set of social rules/etiquette. Deaf people are generally more blunt and to the point than hearing people. There are special rules for getting attention – eg tapping on shoulder, turning lights on and off.
- There is a big tradition in storytelling and poetry in sign language, especially ASL. Other visual art – videos, paintings and sculpture are also popular.
- Deaf community has lot of members who are LGBT+ and has its own deaf organizations for said people. Generally, deaf community is more accepting when it comes to LGBT+ issues then general public, although exceptions exists.
- Not every country has a strong Deaf community – the biggest one is in USA. In some countries, deaf people are isolated.
Discrimination
- Specific term for discrimination against deaf people is “audism” (not to confuse with autism). General term for discrimination against disabled people, “ableism”, is also used sometimes.
- Deaf people often face discrimination especially when it comes to access to information and unwillingness to offer proper accommodation to them.
- Movies/Tv shows/videos lack subtitles or closed captioning. Video games have no alternative way of showing audio cues. Lectures, festivals and public events are often without interpreters.
- There have been numerous cases of arrests and deaths of deaf people after encounters with police due to communication.
- Hospitals and doctors are often without interpreters and neglect to inform the deaf patients properly. Access to authorities and courts is also problematic.
- Deaf people have difficult time finding employment due to prejudice. Even if they do find a job, employers often refuse to offer proper accommodation.
- Many deaf people also struggle in education – see above.
Common mistakes and stereotypes when writing deaf characters
- Lip-reading as a superpower, which makes deaf person basically hearing anyway
- Wearing Hearing aids at night and/or other people touching them and taking them off.
- Cochlear Implants presented as “cure” or “miracle” which makes a deaf person into hearing person
- Being able to learn sign language in record time (aka in several days)
- “Happy” ending being deaf person losing their deafness via cure/miracle/magic
- Deaf people being bitter and lonely (yes, there are deaf people who are bitter and lonely, but it’s not our defining trait and it’s not *that* common)
- Using deafness as a “cute” trope to increase angst levels in your story because being deaf sucks, right? ( -_________-)
- Deaf person only having hearing friends (it’s often the opposite, aka most friends of Deaf people are also Deaf). Same goes for dating.
- Superpowers or magic that basically cancels out deafness
- Creating your own Name signs for your characters (pls really don’t)
- Sign language = English with signs
- Framing the narrative as a “person overcoming their disability”
- Including deafness as a punishment for the character
- The only deaf character in the story is the villain (“bonus” points for ‘deafness turned them evil’)
- Inspiration porn – see the link
Also, keep in mind that:
- Deafness isn’t a disease and isn’t actually contagious (can’t believe I have to say this)
- We very rarely date people who don’t bother to learn how to communicate with us.
- Deaf people can and do drive. We also travel. Use internet. Swim. Read.
- “Shockingly”, we can tell apart yawning and screaming.
- People who were born deaf think in sign language and asking about it really doesn’t make you a philosopher
