terms in a similar vein to violeian, carnian, and rosaian for anon! these use the same format as my redesigns (+ my lilean and lavendeian flags), with the top two stripes inspired by the sapphic flag and the bottom three inspired by the julietian and bennetian flags, the strayt flag, the black-and-white straight flag, and this straight flag respectively!
the terms are based on chrysanthemums, tulips, and cosmos, since violeian/carnian/rosaian are all based on flowers!

Shadowstraight
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Official Flag (left), Original Flag (right)
An orientation term where your straight identity is affected by the fact:
One is transmasculine, a trans man, transneutral, nonbinary, or just not a woman (includes multigender and genderfluid/genderflux/fluidflux individuals), as one is either too dysphoric about being called a woman, experience a disconnection from traditional womanhood, and/or simply doesn’t identify as a woman or with womanhood. They may describe their attraction as any of the following: MLM; MLNB; MLX; NBLM; NBLNB; NBLX, etc – but they don’t identify their labels as WLM; WLNB; WLX due to reasons listed above. With a multigender and/or genderfluid/genderflux/fluidflux identity, one feels straight when with a man and/or has a fluctuating level of dysphoria when they sometimes view their attraction as strayt/julietian in nature, or as WLM. To express that disconnection, the prefix shadow- is used.
One is transfeminine, a trans woman, transneutral, nonbinary, or just not a man (includes multigender and genderfluid/genderflux/fluidflux individuals), as one is either too dysphoric about being called a man, experience a disconnection from traditional manhood, and/or simply doesn’t identify as a man or with manhood. They may describe their attraction as any of the following: WLW; WLNB; WLX; NBLM; NBLNB; NBLX, etc – but they don’t identify their labels as MLW; MLNB; MLX due to reasons listed above. With a multigender and/or genderfluid/genderflux/fluidflux identity, one feels straight when with a woman and/or has a fluctuating level of dysphoria when they sometimes view their attraction as strayt/romeric in nature, or as MLW. To express that disconnection, the prefix shadow- is used.
This term also includes those whose orientation is fluid and/or flux, who may not 100% identify with the label of straight; due to barely ever experiencing attraction to men (or attraction period), having an attraction to men that feels straight but also not, having an attraction to men that’s fluid between being queer and queern’t, and/or experiencing attractions under a straight/queern’t lens.
This term also includes those whose orientation is fluid and/or flux, who may not 100% identify with the label of straight; due to barely ever experiencing attraction to women (or attraction period), having an attraction to women that feels straight but also not, having an attraction to women that’s fluid between being queer and queern’t, and/or experiencing attractions under a straight/queern’t lens.
In simpler terms, shadowstraight may be defined as the following:
Being multigender and/or genderfluid/genderflux/fluidflux but never WLM, yet feeling like their attraction to men is straight/strayt/queern’t.
Being multigender and/or genderfluid/genderflux/fluidflux but never MLW, yet feeling like their attraction to women is straight/strayt/queern’t.
Being m-spec and not WLM/MLW, yet feeling a connection to the label.
Being too dysphoric about being called a woman/girl/being thought of as one, yet being either NBLM, MLM or XLM with a connection to the straight label.
Being too dysphoric about being called a man/boy/being thought of as one, yet being either NBLW, WLW or XLW with a connection to the straight label.
Having a fluid/flux orientation where one’s not 100% straight due to any reason, but retaining a connection to the straight label.
Simply feeling as if one’s straight, but also not.
.
This term was originally reposted on June 27th, 2022.
So years (August 26th 2020) ago I coined the Shadow- terms on my original mogai blog. Since then I’ve deleted that blog and one-half of the Shadow- terms do not have rebloggable posts out there, so I decided I’d repost the terms.
A while after (February 28th 2021) another tumblr user (@/thepokedexisgay) decided to make simpler alternate flags to these terms. I’ll be posting a link to their flags at the bottom of these posts.
I made the original flags based off of my original all inclusive lesbian/gay/vincian/etc. flags, and since I’ve remade those and posted them, I figured I’d remake the Shadow- flags as well, simplifying them and following the color schemes of my new flags. So yeah, some “official” flags for these terms.
That being said, I made the new Shadowstraight flag based off of my Canyon Queerhet flag, so along with that if you ID as Shadowstrayt/ShadowNQ4G or whoever else I mentioned could use the Canyon Queerhet flag, you can also use this flag if you feel your orientation is Shadow-.
(I’d prefer people use these flags as the official versions versus the originals, however if u personally like the other flags whether it’s Alois’s (thepokedexisgay) or the original ones, or feel like making your own based on an alternate lesbian/veldian/enbian/etc. flag, feel free to go on ahead.)
Yes, most of the definition in this post is ripped directly from the LGBTA wiki, with some changes to it due to my current knowledge of labels.
Here is the link to the Shadowstraight flag made by @/thepokedexisgay, and here is the [link] to the Shadowstraight page on the LGBTA wiki.

Simple NBLM to finish the sets. I can do ones with specific flags or something else if u guys want
Check my blog for the WLW, MLM, NBLW and NBLNB ones!
The last three flags are the gai and strayt flags, for anyone that considers their attraction towards men to be gay or strayt, and the gay man flag by @/imoga-pride, for nonbinary gays.

i rly resonate with the “”omnistraight”” label and it sucks ass bc regardless of who whether i’m attracted to a guy or girl, i’m still genderqueer and can’t relate to m/f depictions in media in the slightest unu
i wanna date a cute twink, but i also wanna be a cute twink with a cute girlfriend and it is... Frustrating. really makes me feel dumb for thinking the omni- labels were just internalized -phobia in the past bc they now fit my own experiences lol
as for unaligned or completely nonbinary people, i’ve never been intimately interested in one, so i dunno what that feels like exactly. i mean yeah i’ve surely found an unaligned person cute before, but my brain perceived them as either male or female based off their sexual appearance, so it’s not exactly the same.
it also makes me wonder if this is my own feelings, or an alter influencing me due to being subconscious?? b/c there really doesn’t seem to be much info for multigender people other than “i’m these genders b/c i say so uwu” like? what does it feel like? what is the experience life? yeah sure being told i’m valid is ok i guess but i want community, not half-assed positivity slogans and sparkly edits you know?
anyway this makes me a bit less confused about my sexuality too, bc i know i’m attracted to girls but wlw doesn’t really resonate with me? i mean it does but also doesn’t?? so it’s like heck no wonder.
anyway in conclusion being omnistraight in a community where people love to shit on anything even slightly het and glorify being gay, it’s not fun and makes me p insecure :’) strayt def fits more than straight but nonetheless does it make me feel like shit, even if that stuff isn’t directed at me, it’s still there by association, like how it hurts bisexuals and aspecs
also kinda bugs me how people are like “being nb is great because it means youre always gay” like no?? maybe for you but sure as hell not for me?? the way i experience attraction doesn’t really fit into the gay/straight binary?? and even if it did, i’d consider it more straight than gay tbh. the way people word these things is always really shitty... i wish people would be more careful with that because so often they imply being gay is superior :/

Pearlianlahuric flag requested by anon.
Pearlian - a non-binary man and woman attracted to nonbinary people, men and women (nblnb, nblw, nblm, wlnb, wlw, wlm, mlnb, mlm and mlw).
Lahuric - an orientation that entails an experience of being gay/gai + strayt + lesbian—all at once. Either concurrently, separately, fluidly, or in other ways
I couldn't find a very good quality version of the lahuric flag, so this is less of a combo flag and more of a flag inspired by the lahuric and pearlian flags.
HQ Download
If you have any problems with this particular flag design, please let me know. I may take the post down & will certainly do my best to correct the issue.🦋

Variant: not completely conforming to the societal and cultural ideals or roles of gender, sex, orientation, sexuality, relationships, expression, and other related forms of self-identification. Not being accepted as a member of conformant society due to one’s identity differing from the one assigned to and expected of them. To specify certain subcommunities, terms like gender variant, attractional variant, and relational variant can be used.
“Conformant” is the antonym- meaning not variant-  because cishetalloperisexmonoam(screaming for 11 minutes) is too long and I don’t want to keep shortening it to cis/het because some variants are both cis and het, but variant in another way like gender nonconformity, intersexness, or non-monoamory.
I discuss this term more in this post.
The flag stripe/color meanings are of particular importance because they’re meant to represent certain variant sub-communities and I want to make sure it covers everything to clarify what identities are variant. Colors are chosen based on their use in pride flags/symbols and their association with certain identities. I also wanted the flag to evoke other variant flags like genderqueer when you examine it closely. might edit this if I forgot something. To be fair, there is a lot to cover. Just know that these aren’t complete lists… because that would be a list of every term ever. I’m sticking to mostly broad terminology because of that.
From top center to bottom corners:
Lilac: represents all of the variant community and inclusionism. Lilac is the color representing variance.
Purple: represents (gender)queer, gender/pronoun nonconforming, cross-aligned, androgynous/androgyne, ace-spectrum, altersex, wlw, transgenital, genderfluid, amplusian, mspec/pluralian, (bi/pan)curious, genderfuck, strayt, kingender, varioriented, gender creative, transexpressive, and ficto- variants.
Blue: represents non-monoamorous, non-monogamous, alterous, objectum, conceptum, gay (all kinds of gay), gai, aplatonic, lesbian, auto-, paro-, multigender, enbian, fluitic, flex-, and (responsible/consensual) kinky-identified variants, as well as variants in nontraditional relationships or with variant relationship orientations/preferences.
Yellow: represents neutral, intersex,  abinary, xenine/xin/xenogender, aesthetigender, ambident, iso, ultric, pangender, anthrotherio-, nblnb, pulsaric, aporagender, nontrinary, pandrogynous/pandrogyne, limno-, maverique, and queerplatonic variants.
Green: represents agender, neutrois, aro-spectrum, angenital, orientationgender, agorarelational (open relationship), mlm, medusan/alloda-, aliagender/other gender, oriented aroace, antigender, neurogender, synesgender, heartedgender, and abro- variants.
Black: represents aspec, anattractional, omnia-, repulsed/ARC, nonpronominal/pronounless, unaligned, nonamorous, apothigender, apothibinary, leptrois-spectrum, negabinary, sexless, neither gender, gendervoid, nullgender, anonbinary, and genderpunk variants.
Gray: represents gray-aspec, uingender, graygender, questioning, neuro-oriented, genderflux, flexible, amplusic, autogamous, gamyflux, celibate-oriented, utrinque, demigender, pre-, and nongender variants.
The shape is to evoke queer chevrons and the letter v. Exclusionists/REGs, truscum/transmeds, gatekeepers/identity policers, anti-mogai/neolabel/neopronoun and anyone who would exclude any variant identity can’t use the flag, interact with me or this post, or participate in the variant community. We’re inherently inclusionist and so is the flag and term.

Will you help me? I'm trying to understand what a bi lesbian is.. Is it bisexual homoromantic? Or am I misunderstanding?
Or biromantic homosexual, biplatonic oriented aroace homosensual and many other possibilities. However if you look in definitions like those in @pride-color-schemes you would notice it's likely a sapphic bi or bi wlw.
It can be also lesbiflexible/aniso-/homoflexible. It means many things. Specially those pluralian nonmen that are sociopolitically a lesbian.
In my case I'm sociopolitically gay man, because I am externally socialized as one, as I said to another person if someone ask me if I'm gay I'm more likely to say yes than going into specific neolabels/microlabels.
Laymen and most presume things we are not of course, but homo- (qualitative) never excluded multi- (quantitative), most people will say it's a mono- orientation, that's why it's incoherent sometimes to be in a duaric coupledom and call it homo- (gay/lesbian). But I will not against their identity selves-determination.
I have to point out here that "political lesbianism" is not essentially the same what I'm saying here as sociopolitical lesbianness, because the first one is co-opted by feminationalists (femiservative homonationalists) and cissexist supremacists…
Platonically I used to classify me as a lesbian (lesboplatonic/lesbiplatonic/lesbianplatonic/lesbianoplatonic/lesbiaplatonic/lesplatonic/lesbplatonic/sapphoplatonic/sapphiplatonic), as a lahurian/lahuric pearlian. At the same time I'm a transhet woman and rarely a strayt/gain't/gayn't nonwoman as a result of being pangender but also more nuanced with attraflux leaning more like equarigender still a bit julietiagender.

vonnie’s big fucking series on coining words good: prologue
(i put a cuss word in the title bc this is gonna be pretty coarse in places and i want u to know exactly what ur in for. everyone’s gotta find their own balance between being polite and getting their point across, and this is mine!)
so i don’t want to just complain abt what i dislike in current neolabel trends without suggesting what to do better. that’s not helpful, and i want to be helpful, so i wrote this ✨ it was initially just gonna be one post, but it got Really Really Big enough that i had to break it up into chunks. it’s mostly focused on gender, but i’m definitely gonna go into other neolabels and stuff.
heads up: as this is a serious post, i am actually going to use other people’s terms as examples. if something you coined is on here, i don’t think you’re a terrible person or “problematic” or anything like that, and i certainly don’t endorse attacking anyone based on the views here. ok? behave.
qualities of a good label, and some bad ones
⚠️ when i say something is a ‘good’ term in this post i mean that it will probably get used and spread around. that’s it. again, you’re not “problematic” for making terms that don’t agree with these guidelines or whatever. a label being ‘good’ or ‘bad’ in my opinion has nothing to do with its moral worth. i’m speaking purely practically ⚠️
BEARING THAT IN MIND, a good label is:
USEFUL - it has a reason to exist because it fills a need
MEMORABLE - it does not get confused with other terms
here are two examples that currently exist that i think kinda fail these criteria:
‘strayt’
i was around when ‘gai’ got coined. it’s always been my understanding that it existed and was useful because a lot of the time nonbinary relationships are neither strictly gay nor straight. it could be compared to ‘diamoric’, and was, i think. obvs it reflects the fact that socially, gainess is closer to gayness than straightness bc Straight is an archetype of privilege but it’s still reductive to call gai ‘gay in a nonbinary way’.
which is why i think the word ‘strayt’ fails criteria one: it is not USEFUL. and i have no doubt it probably seemed useful to the person who was coining it - it’s not impossible to feel ‘straight in a nonbinary way’. but it completely misunderstood what ‘gai’ was trying to be.
in fact, it cheapened the meaning of the word ‘gai’ to a lot of people just by existing. i personally stopped using it. i was gai as opposed to gay or straight, not gai as opposed to strayt. but now ‘gai’, a word about nonbinaryness, has been placed back into this binary and now it’s basically just gay/straight with wacky letters.
side note: this idea of ‘rebinarizing’, as i’m gonna call it, is gonna come up time and again in this series. it’s a big problem, and if you want another example to chew over while i write the next post, think about all the ‘-gender’ terms that have ‘can be used as x-boy, x-girl’ in their definition
the ‘[person] loving [person]’ table
did anyone stop and think that if you need a table this complex to organize your terminology system that it might be a bit excessive? these terms are not MEMORABLE. it is, to be blunt, a complete pain in the ass to remember which mineral corresponds to which exact combination of x-loving-ys
when it’s actually more effort to use a term than just explain using plain language alone, you’ve done goofed up. i’m not gonna tell people i’m luminian (that is... *consults the chart*  nblw, nblnb, nblm, wlw, wlm and wlnb) when it’s so much simpler to say i’m a nonbinary woman attracted to all sorts of folks.
both of these reflect a problem in neolabels where i think that... people really want to just coin things for the sake of coining them. and most of the time, that doesn’t really have an impact, and the word just gets forgotten, and that’s fine. but sometimes it can be actually damaging.
final example: the word ‘aplatonic’ is basically a joke now because some genius saw my flag and immediately decided that ‘panplatonic’ needed to be a thing too, completely miscontextualizing it.
(yeah, the aplatonic flag was me. there’s my dark secret)
but what if i find these terms useful?
then that’s fine! but (in the context of this series, at least), i’m not really talking about individuals. i’m talking about general trends and the way words are used overall. remember, a ‘good’ term for the purpose of this post is one that gets used and spread around. a ‘bad’ term is one that nobody uses. ‘good’ can be considered shorthand for USEFUL and MEMORABLE on the overall scale that it is used and understood by everyone who encounters the word.
if you have a term that is perfect for you and you don’t care if it gets popular or not, then this series isn’t really talking to/about you. but i think it’s safe to assume that most people want their terms to be out there and known by as many people as possible so that it’s actually understood when you use it. bc, like, that’s how language works?
so if you only read this post, if you only take away one idea from this series, for the love of god let it be this one:
❗ think about the world you’re bringing your word into ❗
❗ think about the context your word will be used in ❗
❗ think about the other terms your word will be used alongside ❗
❗ terminology does not exist in a vaccum ❗
