the key difference between the scoundrel and the scientist is that the scoundrel basically doesn't register that they care for other people, much less how to act on it. and meanwhile the scientist is like. the closest a seeker nemesis future licentiate can come to being a decent person. which isn't a lot but it's a low bar to clear in comparison here
#the scoundrel is a huge jerk that vehemently denies caring about anything and takes all the asshole options#the scientist just like. helps people out bc it's helping people out. like a normal fucking guy.#he's anything but normal but he's the playthrough where i get to take magnanimous points for once#yin-thoughts#fallen london#to put it another way: the scoundrel is almost always somewhere on the evil spectrum of dnd alignments#straying into chaotic neutral or even the slightest hint of chaotic good at their absolute impossible best#and the scientist ranges comfortably between firmly chaotic good or neutral evil. no in-betweens. this clears up everything ik 👍#scoundrelventures

Inquisition companions reacting to an extremely overpowered inquisitor? I got bored and decided to do a cheat run to see if I could find anything new and I couldn't help but wonder how the companions would've reacted to a reality bending, godlike inquisitor. Good luck with the new blog!
Blackwall: He is sceptical of the Inquisitor at first, and then he becomes wary of their power. He watches them as they go about their usual business unsure if he should be afraid or in awe of them. Though he does fear one thing. If they have such immense power, are they able to see through his lies? Are they waiting for him to slip up so they can catch him; like a cat playing with a mouse? Blackwall keeps his distance, though he can be heard praising the Inquisitors abilities to the animals in the stables, where he thinks no one will hear him. The bending of reality does terrify him, but he rationalizes that the power the Inquisitor wields will benefit the Inquisition in the end. At least, that’s what he hopes.
Cassandra: She is absolutely appalled. Confusion and anger take hold of her as she watches the Inquisitor; someone she had, up until recently, viewed as a normal individual bend reality and show immense power. This is even more alarming to her if the Inquisitor is not a mage. She wonders how one person could wield such power? Of course, she confronts the Inquisitor, keeping her training in mind in the event that their discussion turns south. Her priority is to ensure the safety of those in the Inquisition, and she needs to know if the Inquisitor can be trusted. With power like that, seeds of doubt are sown in her mind as she wonders if the Inquisitor did have something to do with the explosion at the conclave. These feelings subside if the Inquisitor and Cassandra form a better bond and mutual understanding. However, her feelings intensify if the Inquisitor seems to be abusing their power.
Cole: Power surging, coursing through their veins as they bend the fade to their will. Exhilaration flowing, wrapping around their mind. Temptation can be deadly. Power can be deadly. Cole tends to keep his distance, watching from the sidelines as he keeps an eye on the Inquisitor. Despite how deep he can delve into another’s mind, he finds himself almost always blocked off from the Inquisitor’s main thoughts, only being able to see what they want him to. This causes him to feel uneasy, he usually seeks out Solas when the Inquisitor does things that could be dangerous to themselves or to those around them. With a closer bond, Cole helps the Inquisitor when they need it. He is a guiding hand to calm them when their own thoughts threaten to take over; he eases their pain and is there for them. Without a closer bond, Cole still keeps his distance though he tends to use his abilities to disorient the Inquisitor when the Inquisitor begins to abuse their powers. He wants to help, but he fears helping them.
Dorian: He is absolutely astonished at the power the Inquisitor has. He asks thousands of questions, quill ready to jot everything down, afraid he would miss even the slightest of details. After his questions, he beings wondering to himself if the Inquisitor would be able to use time magic if they so wished. If the Inquisitor had sided with the mages, then Dorian wonders if the Inquisitor had even been afraid when they were thrown into the future, had they been able to create a catalyst large enough send them both back to the time they came from? Dorian asks questions every time he sees the Inquisitor, always thinking of something new to ask. If he and the Inquisitor are close, he always makes sure to check on them, knowing such power must be draining at times, especially accompanied by the anchor. If they are not close, Dorian still asks his questions, hinting at what their weaknesses may be. Dorian keeps all his notes on his person at any time, though he has a spare set of notes that are kept with the Spymaster in case anything were to happen to him or the notes.
The Iron Bull: Bull is extremely wary of the Inquisitor. When they meet on the Storm Coast, he feels their power mixing with the lightning in the air. At first, he thought it might have had to do with the anchor that glowed vibrantly against their palm, only that was not the case. Watching them fight he saw the pure strength and power they had as they gracefully conquered the battlefield. He knew they were dangerous and his mind formulated plans of action on how best to keep the Inquisitor down if needed. His priority at the start changed from helping close the Breach, that at the time seemed less of a problem then the Inquisitor who seemed as if they could change the entire world with a snap of their fingers if they grew bored. Bull kept an eye on the Inquisitor, always keeping tabs. If the two became close, Bull would let his guard down slightly, opening up to their nature and realising that they might not be bad after all. If they are not close, Bull exchanges notes with Dorian, wanting to know what weaknesses to look for, if there were any. He wanted to make sure that the Inquisitor never became a threat, not when the world was already a chaotic mess. He would do anything to protect The Chargers or stay loyal to Qun.
Sera: To say the least, she freaks out. Flips out, cursing and throwing things at the Inquisitor. Calls them every name in the book. After she calms down, she looks at them with scrutiny, silently wondering how she ended up in this shite. Wondering if it would just be better to get the hell out and help in other ways. Far, far away from the Inquisitor and their weird powers. If she becomes close to the Inquisitor, she becomes less wary, trusting them to have her back and to not do anything too weird around her. Sometimes, when she and the Inquisitor sit on the roof having cookies, she’ll ask about what it’s like having that much power. Asks if it ever scares the Inquisitor. Those chats remind her that even with all that power, the Inquisitor is still just a person. If she and the Inquisitor are not close, Sera keeps her distance and vocally complains whenever she is taken along on quests. Her comments are snide and snarky as is her nature, but there is a bit of lingering fear behind those sharp words. She refuses to be in the party when Cole is around because he makes the tension between her and the Inquisitor more noticeable.Solas: He watches the Inquisitor very intently, never when they can see him though. His eyes always stray away during battle as he lets his instincts take care of his own foes; he watches them bend reality with a snap of their fingers. Solas wonders to himself if the Inquisitor houses the soul of an old god as he tries to figure out how exactly they are capable of doing what they do. If the Inquisitor is a mage, Solas theorizes that the mark amplified their magic, though if the Inquisitor tells him that they have always been able to do this, he falls back to his first theory. If the Inquisitor is of any other class, he truthfully finds himself baffled. Though he may be uncertain about how the Inquisitor is capable of doing what they do, he does knows that they may pose a threat. Solas tries to remain neutral, unsure if the Inquisitor would be able to sense his own power, but more importantly, he did not want to be close to them. He would watch and study them from a distance but that would be it. Or so he hoped. If he and the Inquisitor become close, Solas is more likely to take the same approach as Dorian, though a little less enthusiastically. Solas would ask what they could, what are their limits, and would they be able to evolve their power. If they are not close, Solas is distant, his moves more calculating as he finds every weakness the Inquisitor has. He knows what will come and he is preparing himself to eliminate the threat of them before they become more powerful. Varric: “Andraste’s tits...” Those are the first words out of Varric’s mouth when he first meets the Inquisitor and sees the power that they wield. On a separate train of thought, Varric is already mapping out a novel based on the power the Inquisitor has. Of course, after everything is all said and done, Varric asks the Inquisitor question after question, though he does respect the Inquisitor if they say they do not wish to answer any more questions. Varric never really paid much mind to magic, until there was a giant breach in the sky. He did wonder if the Inquisitor had been the reason for the breach, their power did show him that they were capable of doing dangerous and catastrophic things. If he and the Inquisitor are close, he pokes them for details as they share drinks in the Herald’s Rest. He does voice his concerns about their power, especially if he thinks it is getting to their head. He reminds them to be humble, to not forget that their still a person. If they are not close, Varric remains friendly but he writes the truth in his novel. The hero who saves the day is no hero at all. They were the mad crown of power and let themself be taken over. A tragedy waiting to happen.
Vivienne: She had already heard about the power the Inquisitor held and wanted to meet them even more. She would be lying if she admitted she was not curious about their abilities. Seeing their power in person, Vivienne found herself in awe. Her face did not change from its usually indifferent poker face, but for a brief moment, there was a flash of childlike wonder. If the Inquisitor is a mage, she asks where they studied. If they were a circle mage, what circle had they been a part of or if they were an apostate how did they learn to control their magic? When the Inquisitor tells her that their power does not come from their magic, she is a bit dumbfounded though she will quickly regain her composure. She finds any and every book that possibly talks about this power so that she can teach the Inquisitor how to grasp it in a more refined manner, rather than using it brashly and without style. If the two are close, Vivienne makes sure that whatever the Inquisitor does, it reflects positively back on them and the Inquisition. She reminds them of their position and says that reputation is a much deadlier weapon than any magic or power the world has. If they are not close, Vivienne takes some cues from Solas and instead of being behind the Inquisitor, she watches them from the sideline, offering snide comments and remarks about their inability to act civil or maintain face. She does not fear them, though at times she does pity them, especially if they let their power go to their head.
