Once again, the Stranglethorn Vale Beach Bash has rolled around. This year it's Heroes vs. Villains and the Queen Clown of Fel has entered on the side of the bad guys!

Does this count as a return to Gob A Week? Sure, why not.

Stranglethorn Vale Bonfire Bash 2024 Prompt 1: Hidden Treasure

Uh oh! Roan lost something on the beach… something kinda important. 😅 When I saw the first week prompt I knew I was going to draw the event that @roanathos-niluthiadand and I rp’d back at the 2022 Bash-- but, I knew the whole scene would be a bit much for one week. (And okay, I actually would’ve attempted it/more if I hadn’t been super busy!) I parsed down and changed our rp quite a bit, but stayed as true as I could to how it went down. I also tried to be as loose as possible… it still came out pretty refined, but I could have quibbled with it a lot more, so I’m proud of myself lol.

Thanks to @lateoctobermoon aka Shiro for being willing to be the finder of the ring, in the most unexpected place, and thanks of course to Roan for such wild, amazing, and fun rp over the years 😊 🥂

Also surprise cameos by our fearless leaders Obasi (Rage) and Poeful (Buttart) , my good friend @thebanaltongue , and Ashiyr (who’s the guy shrugging on page 2, sorry it wasn’t a bigger part!) for being cool with me grabbing their characters! All told this took about 15 hours (fast for me). I'll probably post how the rough sketches looked vs. the final product in another post 😆

What an amazing weekend! Erann spent some time enjoying the beach, visiting with friends, and even diving for treasure! And to finish off the whole event... what an unbelievable light show in the sky (AND on the ocean)!!

Aaannndddd the companion piece for the Stranglethorn Bonfire Bash foe my husband! @goblitzkriegbop 's Weayava! In full Grimtotem paints and everything! Designing his totem-keg was a blast, and adding some touches of gold to everything was amazing! Making this illustration reminded me I needed to have added paints to mt Paukala piece... Which I'll add now that I've got his done too.

I've been doing a lot of art recently! And so much of it has been outside my design comfort zone! I made a full fledged illustration piece! Background and all!! Plus 2 character reference sheets! One with a custom background that'll be used for other NPCs/PCs for that ponyfinder game! I'm really proud of myself. And so much of it has been of my girl Lailean! Look ay her gorgeous Stranglethorn Vale scene! I needed an illustration to turn into a timelapse gof for my internship course... Thus the tropical beach, as we're getting into warmer weather here, seemed appropriate! I feel like I might've flexed on the gif tho... We'll see.

I've done something! A redraw from two different pieces!! The first is from 2017, second is from 2020, and the third is 2022! (Today, to be precise! The 2020 one is from 07.02.2020, and the today one is just under 2 years old. By literally a month! 06.02.2022)

Because I should post it here! I'm doing the Stranglethorn Bonfire Bash Art Bash!! Here's my ref of my pretty girl, and former alias namesake (before the witchlight designs change~) Paukala!

I chose Rain Poppy as her primary flora piece, but worked with my husband to use more colors as she would absolutely do flower garlands. Theres a lotta Pride colors in her outfit, and so much gold! (Although... I just realized I forgot her gold paint!! Ima need to fix that...)

I'll have a ref of my husband's moo, and her student, Weayava, soonish. Pending design options from him...

Stranglethorn Vale Bonfire Bash: Week One Prompt: Activities

Hunter and Roan (Team Relax) mostly head to the beach to enjoy each other’s company and the drinks served up by the consummate bartender Rask (Team Max)!  Two views of basically the same scene.  A big challenge for me, but I’m very pleased with the result overall; I feel like I’m getting better at digital art, slowly but surely, lmao.
