Hi! I've not worked on the rewrite in a long while and there isn't much to tell about that anyway. I only had two options for Griffin's endgame and Valtor wasn't really an option so it was Faragonda (because I wanted something healthier for Griffin in my "canon").

I do love Storming Sun though (and this post about it in particular) so I'll talk about it. It's an AU in which Griffin is going to seduce Faragonda to her and Valtor's side.

Now the idea here was literally that their bond is so strong that I can see either one of them pulling the other towards her side but I've only ever written about Griffin joining Faragonda (and the Company). So how would things go down if Griffin were to convince Faragonda to switch sides. It is a hard concept to work with because I don't want to make it as if Faragonda would completely betray who she is just because of Griffin but watching her slowly lose conviction and ground to Griffin's arguments is soooooo worth it. Faragonda has already placed herself into the war which is a situation with only two sides and if you're not with one side, you're with the other, which makes Griffin's task much easier. All she has to do is convince Faragonda that there is no place for her on the Company's side, which would mean that there's also no place for Faragonda there. That only leaves her with the option to join Griffin's side, which she still doesn't do lightly. Griffin is very good at spinning the correct narrative - it's not that she's lying to Faragonda, but there is certainly a side of manipulation. It's the reason why I'm so fascinated with this idea because it really explores and tests Griffin and Faragonda's bond while at the same time looks Griffin's similarities and partnership with Valtor are the cornerstone upon which she builds her entire approach to the situation. It is a Griffin x Faragonda story through and through but also perfectly demonstrates why Valtor would never not be a pivotal part of Griffin's life. Plus, it puts Valtor and Faragonda in positions they'd never dreamed they'd be in, which is very entertaining to witness.

Bug Zapper 9000 worked too well. Not only did we get the terrifying normal corpses, we accidentally found its brood mother that can summon localized sandstorms to protect its underlings.

At least it got chased away by Riju’s lightning. Big win.

Turned Towards The Sun

- For @chubscove <3 The boys mean the world to me and the fact they'll be able to take their time and grow together?? perfect. And for those of y'all that don't know... Sunflowers turn to face the sun throughout the day, but they are also known to face each other.

Valtor: I have a very simple solution to our Faragonda problem.

Griffin: I told you that killing her is not an option.

Valtor: I agree.

Griffin arches an eyebrow.

Valtor: You’re right that that will work to our detriment. Besides, there’s a much better option. You will seduce her to our side.

Griffin: I’m sorry, are you hearing yourself? You will step aside and leave me to Faragonda?

Valtor: Drawing her to our side is a much better approach to the situation. Not only will she work for us instead of the Company but I might also get you back.

Griffin: Excuse me?

Valtor: That familiarity between you, the push and pull that keeps you balanced – if I pluck you out of that dynamic, all the power in it will fall on to Faragonda. You will lose to her. You both need to stay exactly where you are regarding each other but drawing her to our side will tip the scales in our favor.

Griffin: Her being in my bed will change “exactly where we are”.

Valtor: It will only further your connection and the power you’d both be able to draw from it. Then Hagen will be out for your head. Why do I feel like that will make your entire year?

Griffin: She joined the Company to fight against me.

Valtor: It doesn't matter why she joined them. You will find a way to sway her. Unless you prefer to never see her again.

Griffin: What?

Valtor: I can arrange that for you.

Griffin, sighing: Valtor-

Valtor: I don’t have to kill her to forever strand her out of your life. She’ll even be... content despite your absence at her side.

Griffin: So it’s fuck her or lose her?

Valtor: Oh, Griffin, don’t pretend this is the first time you’ve thought of taking her to bed. I doubt even she would believe that. Besides, you’re already losing her. How is friendship working out for you?

Griffin staggers as if he slapped her. Faragonda’s never not been her friend. Taking her to bed wasn’t supposed to change that.

Valtor: With a whole body of magic you’ve acquired and Faragonda practically assisting you, I’m certain you’ll be successful in ensnaring her.

It has all the elements of a standard mafia grunt uniform. In the novel, he picks up a shirt, all of which are high-end and well-maintained, "at random" just to get it done. This matches his empty apartment in serving the theme of the story, which is "who is Nakahara Chuuya?"

and YET, we can see his personality come through that basic nobody uniform in the way he chooses to style his bland clothes, the accessories he puts on, and the glasses, which are a mean to anonymise the mafia members, that he does not put on, yet carries with him. He will not be absorbed as just one of the many, and despite his uncertainties, he's clearly himself from the very start.

idk if i said this already but darry is a daddy’s boy and soda is a mamas boy and ponyboy is right in the middle.

like when soda was born darry was scared he’d have to share his dad and only got over it because most times soda refused to let anyone but karen (mrs c) hold him. so everything was smooth sailing him and soda got on well.

but then comes ponyboy. and darry is six years old now, he knows how the world works but he cannot fathom it. he had his dad and soda has mama. but who is ponyboy gonna have? when pony gets here either him or soda will be replaced. pony’s gonna be a mamas or daddy’s boy and all darry can do is hope it won’t be him who gets replaced.

(spoiler alert he’s both. only his mama is allowed to feed him and only his dad is allowed to carry him. once he starts crawling though he kicks both parents to the curb and is all over darry. he’s a darry’s boy (tm). like darry’s follows his dad everywhere pony follows darry)
