My character for July’s bird month! @far-side-skies

Meet Pitta Gurney, Cyclonia’s odd gothic medic. A retired archer with damaged eyesight. Though, just because her sight wasn’t what it was, doesn’t making her any less dangerous. She now takes her terror to the medical wing, scaring unruly patients into submission.

I wanted to try and play into the bird lineage idea, and once I picked an owl, I really wanted to bring ito out into the design. Hence the creepy big eyes and beak like makeup. Thanks to @ashe-alter for the inspo!

She’s the type of person that would tell you that she watches you in your sleep, and you don’t really know if you should believe her or not cause she’s creepy enough to do it lmao.

Spitfire is finished! Super proud of this one, I put a lot of focus into making him look like a cohesive member of the team as well as his own individual character. Super interesting team lineup to work with.

Ryder!!! He looks so good, and I love the little patterns on his sleeves 💜🩵💜

This month's challenge character for @far-side-skies is Ryder Dieder, the Talon Austry's younger brother.

He is 14, and yes, looks a lot like Aerrow.

Ryder lives in rural Cyclonia with his parents and twin sister, Chi. At first, he had no interest in the war and wanted to grow up to be a racer.

However, after an incident where he and Austry are captured by Atmosian forces and left to the chief interrogator, Ryder decided he wanted to fight. He never wants anyone to suffer the way he and his brother did.

Austry and his mother don't think he should fight. So, to compromise, they let him join the the storm hawks reserve team.

I'm sure that sounds a bit odd, but the reserve team is largely full of double agents, lead by Lynn.

Entry for @far-side-skies art challenge, this month we were assigned the splendid sunbird and I had some fun with the colors..may have used the purples a bit too much but i regent nothing XD This was from a stomhawks next gen thing I thought up of years ago and never went into much detail for any the characters in it XD

~Story~ When the floating terra of cyclonia fell and Master Cyclonis fled through the portal, she fled with a few loyalist but one wasn't among them ..the champion known as the dark ace was gone.

Being the Impatient women she is Cyclonis ordered Nikolai to get to work on bring back the dark ace. With not much of a lab set up this annoyed the scientist, but rather then risking his masters wrath he did as ordered and began the long process of cloning. Years later after a few failures, little Oz was the one that survived into his first stages of life, but as he grew his body wasn't holding up as it should have given the lack of Dark Ace's DNA to help build it back up Nikolai had to use what he had on hand, which was the DNA's of a bird and the masters to stabilize the boy. Around the time Oz turned five he was wondering around the farside boarder between when he bumped into a young Shang Akagiyama of Terra Kistune royal family, the two boys grew to bond and this gave Cyclonis the idea to use him as a pawn to get an alliance with the Kitaran. This then made her take the boy under her wing and removing him from Nikolai's care.

Growing up Ozul slowly learned just what type of person his mother was and what happened when she was made upset or disappointed. The burns on his left arm will be a permanent reminder of those lessons. Weirdly enough all Oz wishes if for her love and approval and thinks her coldness and harsh punishments are merely an act she puts on, to showcase her standing as ruler of New Cyclonia, so he pushes himself to study, train and practice in hopes of achieving that.

Having Shang for a friend definitely made Ozul feel less alone, hell the Kitaran was his first and only best friend, his mother forbid him from ever leaving the palace, not truly caring about his needs at all and just wanting a weapon to keep by her side, In the early morning on his sixteenth birthday Shang got him to sneak out and took him to Atmos. One glace of the sky and clouds, was all it took and Oz fell love with it, the duo continued this habit of sneaking over to the other side and not wanting to get caught Nikolai had a special outfit created for Ozul (he caught Oz sneaking back in one night but kept it hush hush) that would hide his identity; the armor on it would react to his crystal binding abilities and actually amplify them by a small percentage, thanks to the metal it was forged out of.

Enter stage left, Blood Shrike, the legacy of House Chanthara, ‘loyal’ servant to the Empire of Cyclonia, and this month’s entry into @far-side-skies’s bird OC challenge!

Third-eldest of the Cyclonian Elites, Blood Shrike primarily heads the Crystal Weaponry and Development sector for the empire’s war effort. It is better to die in a battle against Cyclonia, lest you survive as a prisoner-turned-lab rat for their experiments.

Ironically years beforehand, Blood Shrike and their siblings were test subjects for a study surrounding cures for Binding Sickness. As the sole survivor they left with crystals in their blood and back, and a heavy grudge against those with a natural attunement to the Binding.

Needless to say they do not take kindly to Emperor Cyclonis, who wears a crystal that Blood Shrike recognises all too well from the labs.

P.S: don’t get too close to them. those claws are Sharp.

My entry for the @far-side-skies oc bird, I had wanted to participate so much but for one reason or another I couldn't, I hope to be able to participate in future contests. I have been very inspired, well here is the info.

Name: Kirie

Age: 15 years

Race: Human

Height and weight: 1.62m 58kg

Terra of Origin: Sama, One of many terras that was thought to be uninhabited, but with a warm climate and good resources, mainly raw crystal mines, being invaded first by the Raptors but in the end being part of the Cyclonian territory.

Occupation/Position: Talon

Squad: Cyclonians

Description of his personality: Having the character of cheerfully obnoxious, dedicated, joker, he was a person who could relax the environment when they were not on duty, being a good companion but his high loyalty to Cyclonia became too dense to the point of going out of his way for the ideals.

Status: Unknown possibly deceased

History:

Born in a tribe in Terra Sama with ease, it was not until the age of 6 when the Raptors attacked his tribe, arriving by simple chance to find some warm place, taking the advantage because the people of Sama did not have great technological advances reducing The number of people was very large, not much happened until the word spread by reconnaissance of the island by soldiers from Cyclonia, when they came across the town they easily manipulated the people with promises of protection and progress.

And so it was the first weeks after the people were taken from Sama, some to the factories, others secretly thrown into the Wastelands and the youngest being instructed as Talons, among them Kirie, advancing impeccably, they spent years where they did the will of that then Master Anarchis.

Some time passed until new young people arrived for the ranks, being Fenix ​​a red-haired boy from terra Glockenchime with whom he would form a friendship to a certain extent, have a more relaxed season for both, have a bit of childhood in that military and dark environment, but As time went by, Kirie's devotion to Cyclonia, rude attitudes, even putting down lands and races, began to tire the redhead, he had a very different vision of the circumstances, even with the friendship that little fractured.

Being a confrontation against the Sky Knights, the fight was close, however, Kirie's Switchblade began to fail, taking out smoke going into a tailspin, the boy managed to jump for Fenix's Skimmer but in the attempt to climb the ship he had a struggle that It ended in a direct blow to Kirie's face, letting go of his partner's unexpected attack, trying to get his parachute out but it didn't open, he just looked up seeing his friend sabotaging his own ship, jumping out of it and surrendering to the Sky Knights, only the screams calling him a traitor could be heard until he was lost at the bottom of the Wastelands.

Finally made a design for Ruby!!

Name: Ruby Burrows

Occupation: Nurse

Terra: Atmosia

A farmer from the outskirts of Atmosia, she often helped her parents with chores as she grew up, before moving closer into town for her job.

And it's at that very hospital where catches word of the legendary Storm Hawks coming in for a check-up.

Unlike most people, however, she could care less about them, especially about their leader, Lightning Strike. She knew that behind that mask of heroism was just a vain, vile, and misogynistic man.

Or so she thought.

After seeing him express genuine concern for his squad mates, and letting small children hop onto his shoulders made her realize that, maybe, she was wrong.

As time went on, she decides to date him, and Axel vows to keep their relationship away from the public, as she wished.

They promised to love each other, and future child, for all their life on their wedding day.

And so they did, until their very last breaths.

Finally got around to finishing up my character for this months bird challenge! @far-side-skies

Delphus Dove Cyclonis, the second born and first son of Piper and Cyclonis for the next generation era stuff I got going on!

While being a mix of both of his mother’s, Del takes more after Piper. Being the more responsible, calm and a bit nick picky one out of his siblings. He still has her excitement for crystals though lol.

He’s a little bit shy and can come off as a know it all sometimes, but he really does mean well. He has to be my favourite design I’ve done in awhile!

WIP of this month's bird OC! Colours just need refining a bit.

Spitfire is a member of the 3rd Degree Burners; their best pilot and secondary Sky Knight. When he first joined as a teenager, he had no interest in being a Sky Knight and preferred to compete in races with other squadron members. He grew particularly close to a young Suzy-Lu and Lightning Strike's co-pilot in that time, right up until the betrayal happened.

In my lore, the Sky Knight Council covered up the fact that Lightning's co-pilot was responsible for the fall of the old Storm Hawks, and branded the Dark Ace as a random rogue operative who'd come out of nowhere to win his place in Cyclonia's ranks by killing the team. Spitfire was one of the only people brave enough to contest this decision, and proceeded to spend the next few years believing that some semblance of his old friend still remained in Cyclonia's Champion.

This conviction literally came back to bite him in an incident that cost him an eye. By the time the show events come about, Spitfire has completely abandoned all hope in his old friend.

This has been a busy month for me X3 between mother’s day my birthday and my dog turning 3, I’m amazed I got to finish this big guy! This is an entry for @far-side-skies art challenge, he based off the bleeding heart dove.

~Info~ Name: Rowan Stonewall Age: 31 Race: Wallop Gender: Male Sexuality: Gay Job: Talon Soldier/Weapon Smith Status: Traitor Last Seen: Fleeing Terra Cyclonia Current Location: Unknown ~ Rowan Stonewall is your normal run of the mill Wallop..or at least he use to be. As a young calf he wanted nothing more then to be a skyknight with his own squadron, now his a bitter and angry adult whose wasted 13 years of his life to the wrong side of the Atmos. 

After setting off an explosion that put several weapons, skimmers and air carries out of commission, Rowan hightailed it out of Cyclonia course he had a few talons on his tail, a few carefully timed dives down to the wastelands took care of them fairly quickly after which he gunned it to get away before Snip, Ravess or even the Dark Ace were sent after him, while yes he can hold his own fairly well taking on three talon commanders is a mad mans quests in his mind.

Being on the run isn’t easy, since he can’t return to Terra Saharr, where his boyfriend is waiting for him, going back there would put not only Rut in danger but the rest of that terra as well, He’d go to the skyknight order for protection but feels they wouldn’t believe him and simply lock him away due his ties to Cyclonia. So now he lays in hiding waiting and planning his next move, try and help restore Atmos and pay back what his taken away.

This months a collab character for @far-side-skies oc challenge with @far-side-skies

Their name is Jewel and they are very rare hybrid of Nightcrawler and Dawnrunner. The two species are natural enemies and despise one another despite many similarities between them.

Jewel was born (hatched) in a traveling circus and has no home terrar.

Their father, Romeo, is a Dawnrunner and has raised them on his own with the help of their cirus.

Their mother, Juliet, is a Nightcrawler, or in far-side-skies' lore a night elf queen.

No we were not subtle with the names.

Jewel is the main trapeze performer with their father being a strong man and knife thrower.

They love preforming and their giant weird family.

As one of the Cyclonian Elites and their head strategist, 28 year old Aptornis has steadily gained a reputation of being one of the worst of the five Generals to piss off.

Raised under the wing of Empress Anarchis, she is no stranger to taking and dishing out ruthless methods for the power and glory of her empire. At 19 she reluctantly underwent a crystal enhancement to her brain in the hopes that it would refine her thoughts, instead Aptornis now has the ability to discern a person’s intent. The benefits from this upgrade do little to satiate her endless doubt regarding her plans towards Cyclonia’s war efforts.

As the eldest of her distant cousins, Aptornis has taken to be their leader. Heading their meetings, it’s rare to see her without several glasses of strong alcohol to soothe the inevitable headaches that arise, although she does hold a soft spot for Scimitar, the only person capable of beating her at chess.

Race: Agamid Subspecies of Raptor

Age: Unknown, possibly many years

Height and weight: 1.85m 79kg

Terra: Bogaton

Squadron / Alignment: None / Good

Status: alive

Personality: Even with a serious countenance, he becomes an understanding and even empathetic person, but he will watch over the well-being of those he loves, he breaks down in difficult moments but tries to divert all thoughts before doing something foolish.

History: Growing up in the rivalry of which race would lead the terra if the Adamid or Raptors, a young Aruma would train and be curious about the crystals, beginning to sympathize more with the Terradons among which Gikno would become a close friend and later a partner.Although there were conflicts between the inhabitants, things changed after Repton controlled everything together with the recent alliance with Cyclonia, sending Terradones to fortify the earth and the Adamid to fight against celestial knights.

Aruma and Ginko continued to see each other the few times they could, secretly keeping the nest of future offspring, Adamid tried to have the profile of just a simple civilian who would not be of much use to them, it was not until others confessed through threats that she had knowledge in crystals and fight, she refused to participate having a very hostile attitude towards Repton and the others, it was not until the destruction of the nest and loss of her young, already dejected, she joins the ranks to fight for cyclonia.

With the loss and even more with not being able to see Ginko again, he began to release his anger in battle spending a long time until he received a message from his lover with a plan for an escape having the help of a few also fed up with everything. Bogaton became, although it did not come out at first, they did not tire of trying to sabotage the defense system from the inside, while Aruma along with others made a distraction and fought against guards to then defend the escape ship.Arriving at a small terra forming a town,

 Aruma allowed himself to be captured by a celestial knight named Rook but she released all the information she could gather as long as her now home was also protected and that it was not a trick, there was even some mistrust Being locked up until everything he said was verified, some time later Aruma returned to his home already with the certainty of having the celestial knights on his side

Extras: there are very few Adamids that follow Atmos, they are almost always mixtures with other species such as terradons or raptors

Aruma is related to Onoga (part of the Ibis squad) ; she would be like her great-great-grandmother.

Names: Astennu, god of death, and Femi, goddess of life

Home terra: Terra Shezmu? Or all of Atmos

Bio: About 5000 years ago, a group of humans sought to create a crystal that could give them unimaginable power and longevity, they succeeded but at a great cost. They were transformed into animalistic monsters who could only drink blood. Those that survived the rampage quickly tried to destroy the crystal to prevent this from ever happening again but it began to heal itself, pulling the pieces back together except for one shard, which was taken and hidden somewhere deep on Atmos.

Since the vampires, as the creatures came to be called, could not be killed, they were left to roam Atmos, soon turning more humans into one of their own. As their numbers grew, the gods of Atmos created new gods to govern them, one to bring them death and one to bring them life.

Astennu was created first to bring order to the land, giving the vampires their mortality and their weaknesses. Modern vampires describe him as quiet and stern, he rarely chooses to intervene on mortal affairs, choosing to focus on his main job of making sure the cycle of life and death continues.

Femi was created second to bring prosperity to the new species of Atmos. She gives them their long life as well as their ability to transform back into their human forms, should they so choose. Femi is described as cheerful and loving, often granting gifts to the mortals and keeping a close eye on them.

Astennu and Femi are also mates, with their “soul mark” being a butterfly. Symbolizing their duties to the cycle of life and death.

This looks awesome! Mercury’s powers are really cool, and the concept of a cult has me super curious 👀

I finally finished this at the last second. It didn't turn out the way I wanted but I think i've really improved at drawing with this one!

This is my entry for @far-side-skies Storm Hawks OC challenge for December. Based on the Ardennaise chicken.

Name: Mercury Age: 28 Occupation: Wasteland Raider and Farside Cult Protector Terra: Originally Gale but currently the Wastelands and other abandoned Terras Personality: Strikingly cold and deadpan. She comes off as sarcastic and cynical. She sometimes tries to crack jokes but they don't land due to her delivery. In battle she can go from quiet and unaffected to a blaze of fury. She enjoys collecting little trinkets she finds in the wastelands.

Her backstory is below

Mercury was born with the power to cause any crystals close to her to go out of control when she's upset and fire off at their full potential. Her father was an ex Cyclonian hiding out on Terra Gale before it was taken over. Her mother, according to her father, died long ago. When she was eight, her father remarried a women on Gale and the two had a son. She became jealous however and killed her father by accident when her powers went haywire in an argument.

After her fathers death her step mother and the other people of the village treated her poorly. Fearing her as a killer and a danger to everyone around her. She soon ran away and ended up in a Cyclonian prison mine. After her powers caused a cave in and she was presumed dead, she wandered the Wastelands until she came across a large crystal beast. One of a handful of creatures tied to the Farside as she would later learn. Her powers caused the beast to flee and chip one of the crystals on its body. After running away with the crystal she bumps into a mysterious man. He plans to kill her but changes his mind after he watches her use the crystal, called a time stone, in her panic. He offers to take her to his home and teach her how to use her powers.

Her new mentor is part of a group of people living in the Wastelands who believe they are ancient descendants of the Farsiders who first came to Atmos. They follow the old ways before the storms of Atmos created the terras and claim that their original home was lost to the Wastelands.

They live in a large structure buried under the earth and keep their existence a secret. Their current goal is to find the original site where the living storms of Atmos were created and to find an ancient artificial creature called the Beast of Time and capture it. A Farside creation and the same creature Mercury ran into. The only other crystal beast known so far is rumored to live on Tropica and be under the control of the Cyclonian royal family.

Mercury is given training due to her powers and trains with her time stone to master it. She hunts the Wastelands for supplies and the time beast. Killing anyone unfortunate enough to come too close or carrying something valuable.

She uses a crude scythe designed to withstand large amounts of crystal energy. Her time crystal allows her to slow time down for a little bit within a radius of a few meters and to see potential actions her enemies will take. With her attire keeping her hidden she often appears like a deadly ghost in the Wastelands. Giving her the nickname The Grim Reaper by the few survivors who've seen her.

Finally got a chance to enter @far-side-skies Bird Month Challenge, I’ve attempted to participate before, but usually stopped either due to art block, not finishing on time and work. But this month I was determined to actually do the art challenge, and now I have and I defiantly want participate in future Bird Moth Challenges( Assuming I don’t quit half way through -_-; ) And yes, I did color it traditionally with my markers since I’m still figuring out my new drawing tablet and a new art program. So I had to be really careful when I was coloring, as well as trying to find the right colors to fit this months Sea Hawk theme.

So allow me to introduce the famous Atmosian film star Calliope Pandion.

Age: Reported to be around her late 30s( She doesn’t like sharing her real age)

Home Terra: Terra Atmosia

Bio:

Beautiful and very talented, Calliope actually had a pretty rough start to her acting career, taking bit roles and rarely getting a speaking part. But her big break came when a then unknown movie director Carmilla de Luna chose Calliope for her then upcoming movie Desert Heat, a romantic film that needed a beautiful actress to star along side the male Raptor lead. When they finished filming and the film was released, it was a huge hit with audiences( Mainly with human women) and propelled Calliope to stardom. Since then she had starred in multiple films, and has continued to act in more of Carmilla’s films since they both wouldn’t have gotten famous without one another. And with Carmilla, she has been dubbed as “ The Woman Mates With Monsters” by her fans( Her mainly human fans) due to a lot of her films having other species as her love interests. Their are however rumors that she actually hates working with actors and directors of a different species and treats her co stars badly behind the camera and Carmilla’s back, but they have yet to be proven.

Trivia:

- She has starred in about 42 movies in her 10+ years as an actress. - While she does have many fans, she does have her haters, may of which are of the different species of Atmos that criticize how their species are depicted in her films( One Blizzarian hater stated that the film Eternal Snow had depicted Blizzarians saying “Hoser” to many times.)

And that’s Calliope, the idea of a famous actress in Atmos that’s secretly against other species  has actually been on my mind for months, as well as @uncertainty5​‘s BMC OC AVADA also giving me inspiration as well.( And no, I don’t think Calliope would work in one of AVADA’s movies since not only she’s heard he mainly makes propaganda films for Cyclonia, but also because he’s a Merb.

And Carmilla de Luna is a female parody of actual director Guillermo del Toro.

I hope you guys like( or hate) Calliope, I had fun drawing her and again, I’m so glad to finally have a chance to enter @far-side-skies​ Bird Month Challenge.
