Totally cool if you guys don't have an answer for this, as it's mostly a curiosity. I was asked by a cis friend of mine (whom I regularly try to help understand nonbinary stuff, and he's receptive and never intentionally rude) a question that kinda stumped me. When using singular they, in a sentence like "they were going to school", would it be most grammatically correct to instead say "they was going to school"? I don't believe so, given that "was" vs. "were" do not implicitly imply an amount.

Nope, you’d say “they were” or “they are,” never “they was” or “they is,” even in the singular. Similarly, the conjugation for singular second person “you” is always “you are” even if it’s only one person.

hey! jsyk, i'd love to talk game dev w/ u sometime. been playing tabletop RPGs since I was four, GMing since i was 7, programming since i was 10, and been game developing since i was 12. i share your love for being able to homebrew tabletop games and have both a custom pathfinder guide and a custom FATE guide. :)

admittedly i’m not super knowledgeable on the topics of game dev or GMing (i know some basic programming & am in the process of learning more but have always been a disastrous GM), though they’re topics that i’ve basically always been super interested in? and i always welcome the discussion, and love listening to people talk about it even if i don’t have much to contribute

it’s always interesting for me to hear the perspectives of more knowledgeable people so thank you for the offer
