По недавним фото с проверки на коже множества животных видны следы обморожения. Одна из младших косаток - самец Кирилл в критическом состоянии. In Russia there's a proposed quota to capture 13 orcas and 200 belugas in 2019 😐! On top of these animals being doomed to a life in captivity, the actual captures are brutal. Without much expierence, fishermen end up killing many animals in the process. Also, without enough information on population numbers in the area, it's worrying that removing so many could be very harmful towards the remaining population's overall survival. Our friend @dolphin_project_rus is asking people to speak out worldwide before the quotas are discussed on May 3rd (only days away). BREAKING NEWS! There is hope for 90 belugas and 11 orcas trapped in the “whale prison” in Russia. © @dolphin_project_rus New encouraging news came out from Russian authorities. The Prosecutor General's Office came to the conclusion that permit issue for orca and beluga captures in 2018 was illegal. In the meantime 90 belugas and 11 orcas are currently being held in small enclosures in “whale prison” near Nakhodka. The Vladivostok Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor's Office, in turn, found a number of violations on the territory of the “whale prison”. “The order of the Federal Agency for Fishery dated January 30, 2009 No. 56, according to which it was allowed to issue permits for the extraction of aquatic biological resources for cultural and educational purposes to organizations that are not engaged in cultural and educational activities, as well as for the extraction of aquatic biological resources in order to further their implementation in Russia and abroad, was canceled in April of 2018, ”the supervisory authority said. According to the law, as the Prosecutor General’s Office indicates, permits for capture can only be issued to applicants with the equipment, technical means and property necessary for carrying out cultural and educational activities on the territory of the Russian Federation.In other words, only Russian oceanariums can apply for permits to capture marine mammals. Extraction of aquatic biological resources for cultural and educational purposes for their further sale and other transactions is not allowed.
