when you know, you know
draco malfoy x reader
summary: a rare potion reveals Draco the name of the love of his life, and, after seeing his reaction, you are eager to know more about how he's made it (and who it is).
â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â â
It was sad being alone this very day, but you told yourself he would be back home as early as he could.Â
You decided to wander through your house as you waited upon his arrival. The thought of seeing his greeting smile already made you overjoyed as you browsed through your messy room.
Your eyes stumbled upon something. It was utter boredom that gave you the urge to open your memories' trunk. It was yours and his secret trunk, filled of things that you didnât use nor see ever, but you hold them so dear you werenât able to let go of.Â
You opened it and a small wrapped box greeted you. You remembered not seeing that before. But again, it had been a very long time. Curiosity got the best of you, and you proceeded to unwrap it gently.Â
And there it was. A simple little flask. A piece of glass so ordinary to everyone. Everyone but you, him, and the walls of Hogwarts potion classroomâŚÂ
âWhat?!â you blurt.Â
âIâm telling you, Y/N. Lena from fourth grade has made it!â
âHow would a 14-year-old accomplish to make The Curious Hoax? It is known to be nearly impossible.â
Saoirse leans in, a cunning smile blooming in her face. âExactly,â she whispers in your ear. âNearly impossible.â
The Curious Hoax. But how?
âStudents!â Professor Slughorn cuts your wondering instantly. You and the rest of the students follow his instructions, stepping into the Potions Classroom. âThatâs it. Take your books. Careful, Ron!â
Lost in your thoughts, you look around. The room never seems to lose its charm. Cold and old stone walls isolate you from the warm Hogwarts you remember. It is nice, though. Youâve always appreciated the magical spell these shelves filled with all types of jars and potions have on you.Â
âBut how? I mean - you spoke to her, what are the steps?â you ask eagerly. The Curious Hoax had always been your priority goal since youâve heard of it. It wasnât only the rareness of the potion that called you to it. The reason of your interest was far more humiliating.
Your friend knows that. âAh - you are now so interested, huh? Will you tell me why?â Saoirse asks mockingly. âCome on, letâs make a deal.â
âA deal about what?â You turn to the brusque voice next to you.Â
Him, of course.
âDraco,â you say plainly, disgust running your tongue as you speak.Â
But he takes no offense. The blonde boy turns to you, pride and sharpness in his piercing stare. âY/Nâ Youâve never known if itâs simply the thrill of hearing your name out of his lips that sends your heartbeat to a high, or if itâs the sweetness in the tone he uses that confuses your heart.Â
That is not the matter to worry about. Now, the only thing that matters is winning him.
âOh, here they go again with the staring contest. What are you - eleven?â Saoirse asks, rolling her eyes and making Blaise chuckle. Draco turns to the joyful sound in an instant, giving a stern look to his friend.Â
âYouâve lost,â you taunt with a grin once Draco turns to you.Â
His eyes kill you with their intensified anger. âShut up, Potter.â
You bite your lips, trying not to slap him. Or strangle him.Â
Or poison him.
Your jaw is rigid with anger as you lock your eyes with him. It is a call to challenge. To defiance. To temptation.
âOh, here they go again,â your friend complains. âStop that already, Slughorn is talking.â You both ignore Saoirse. âGuys. Draco and Y/N will you please stop that.â
âLet them,â Blaise tells her teasingly. You take a mental note to gossip with Saoirse about the smoldering glace his given her. Sheâs been head over heels for the boy ever since you two were sorted to slithering six years ago and took a seat next to him. Him and Draco.
âYou looked away,â Draco states, sneering. âYou. Lose.â
You breathe deep, holding back the slap your body aches to give him. âShut up, will you.â
âYou shut up.â
âNo. You shut up, Malfoy.â
âShut up, the both of you!â Soirse yells. âYou act like kids, I swear.â You watch in shock as the whole class turns to her rants. But she doesnât seem to care as she angrily turns to Draco. âShe was just asking about The Curious Hoax, because sheâs spent her whole live daydreaming about the love of her life! Now shut up already!â And she stops right there, her eyes wide open, moving to find yours in instant regret as she realizes what she's confessed. âSo that is that,â she mumbles, almost inaudibly.
You know you look visibly flushed as your eyes dart around, trying to hide your embarrassment. But acknowledging every set of eyes on you doesnât help one bit.Â
But what certainly doesnât help is the obscurity in Dracoâs face. âAh, well - what an even more pathetic thing you turn to be.â
âWatch your mouth,â your friend barks in your defense.
âWhat? She can be this stupid, but I canât comment on it?â he says. Thereâs still in his face a darkness you canât quite understand. He is not being mean for mere rudeness. He is truly angry. But why for?Â
You feel chocked up, your eyes on the verge of tears. No words in your personal defense seem to escape the chains of your throat.Â
But someone unexpected is there for you. âMr. Malfoy,â Slughorn says in a scolding voice. âWhat is exactly so pathetic in the will to make such an extraordinary potion? A potion that could reveal the one true love of the maker. Could you explain to the whole class, please?â
Draco is silent, anger with a hint of humiliation in his stupid face.Â
âNo?â the professor asks, monetarily turning to give you a friendly wink. You smile slightly, the pressure of before, now less crushing. âThen I take you appreciate its value all the same as your classmate, Y/N?â
âI-â the boy starts, but is quickly interrupted.
âVery well. Then, I have great news for you.â He turns to the class and adds, âToday, Mr. Malfoy will be the first to try it.â
Said boy swallows audibly. âTry what?â he hurries to ask.Â
âWhy - Making The Curious Hoax, of course,â he says evidently.Â
âBut-â
âGreat! First, go take the cherry leafsâŚâÂ
âŚÂ
Itâs been about ten minutes of Draco following obediently every Slughorn instruction in front of the class. A bit of âtake this, put this, mix thatâ and now, âThe final stepâŚâ the professor said, happiness irradiating from him as a result of his love for this subject.Â
You donât know what surprised you more. How okay, even happy, Draco is with doing this, or that the potion is simple as this. You were told only a few people had succeeded in making it, but there he was Draco, one last step from making it.
You wonder, is he nervous? Excited to know who is the love of his life?Â
You are. Of course, not for who is his love. Of course. You are nervous to find out yours.
âI must tell you,â Slughorn says to all. âThe last step may seem frustrating to the ones who reach with their hand for the top of the mountain, yet happen to be farther than what they had expected.â
You watch Draco sight at the professorâs enigmatic words. The truth is, you had been watching him very carefully. It is not often that he was concentrated enough to not pay attention to your curious eyes set on him. And it is quite an opportunity and relief to be free to watch him from afar with no mean words coming your way.Â
It is simply a relief to look at him, so lost in his inner world.Â
âWhat is the last step, professor Slughorn?â the Weasley boy asks.
âWell,â he replies absentmindedly. âOnce the ingredients are mixed, you must write on an ordinary piece of paper the name of the love of your life. Who you think it is. Only the correct answer will lead to the making of the potion.â
Surprised and disappointment fill the classroom and your heart.
âI donât understand,â you say. âThen the potion makes no sense: You must know the very same thing you want to learn from the potion. If you knew already who the love of your life is, you wouldnât need the potion in the first place.â
âExactly.â Slughorn gives you a knowing smile. âThe curious Hoax, Ms. Y/N. It is a hoax.â
You look around confused, but stop when you find his eyes on you. Draco immediately looks away, flushed, almost hiding from you.
Could todayâs class turn out more odd?
âThen whatâs the stupid point in making it?â Blaise asks.Â
You realize Draco hasnât said a word in complaint yet, which is shocking. Is he really interested in knowing his true love?
âWell, even being conscious about this last step, many wizards have spent years trying to make it, trying name after name, and the oneâs that have made it claim that the potion is worth everything.â
âProfessor,â your friend says. âIâve heard that if you drink the Potion once it changes color, you will see your happiest memory with your love.â
âThat I've heard before - yes. But I fear you shall check it for yourselves. Now, everyone around a table! You know the steps.â
âWe are all going to try to make The Curious Hoax?â Ron asks in disbelief.
âYes, of course, Ron, or do you expect to find out by me telling you who she is?â Slughorn asks playfully as he glances visibly to the girl next to Ron. Nor him or the now blushed girl, Hermione, miss that look.Â
Everyone takes place and starts with the making. You try to keep some distance, but your curiosity makes you pick a spot on the table close to Draco. He seems determined to not look your way.
You donât give much thought to that. The priority now is succeeding in this. Youâve always wanted to know who the love of your life is. Now you have the answer right in front of you.Â
The little cauldron is almost entirely filled, every ingredient youâve meticulously thrown into and mixed have now given their results. But not the ultimate result. The potion must turn blue to indicate it is well. And it will only turn blue if you throw into it the correct name.
Of all the people who could be, how on earth would you be able to guess. You realize soon, it will be impossible to make the potion go blu-
âLook! Dracoâs made it! His potionâs turned blue!â
What.
You quickly look up to him. But heâs already staring your way. Eyes wide open in surprise, just like yours. Of course, guessing who his love is must have left him crazy. Making one of the most difficult potions must have left him crazy.Â
This time, not like the others, his eyes donât move. Like your staring games, heâs just there., looking at you as if the world around him was no more.Â
âVery well done, Mr. Malfoy!â Slughorn congratulates. âGreat! Great.â He grabs a simple little flask and starts puting the potion inside carefully. âAnd⌠here you go. Consider yourself a very lucky boy, Draco. Not many in this world will have the opportunity to visit their happiest memory as you do.â And he hands the flask to the boy.
But his eyes are still on you. And yours are still on him.
Eventually, the whispers of surprise and disbelief of your classmates subside, and you chose to seize the calmness to walk to him.
âHow?â you ask Draco. Most of the class had given up on the Potion. You were nearly about to. âHow have you done it?â
Heâs oddly silent, not even looking at you. He stares at the flask in between his hands. He hadn't drunk it yet. Maybe he didnât want to.Â
âDraco,â you call, and itâs almost like pleading. At that, he moves his timid eyes to you. He is acting so weird. Was the truth of the Curious Hoax so heavy on a person?
âI just - I just did it. I wrote a name, and it worked.â
âWhat? Just one name?â you ask, even more shocked that what you were seconds ago. âHow did you - what?â
He sighs, looking down at the flask again, gone into his inner world.Â
âDraco, please. It is the thing I most want. To know it myself. To make this potion.â
He looks up, finding your eyes with such gentleness it makes your breath caught. âY/N.â Again, that sweetness in his tone. But now, more genuine, more vulnerable.Â
âWhat?â you persisted eagerly. âWhat is it, then?â
He is silent for some seconds, then he puts his flask in a pocket of his uniform and moves to leave. You swiftly grab his arm before heâs able to.Â
He says no word as he turns to look at your hand touching his skin. He says nothing as he absentmindedly lifts his hand up to yours, and almost like in a tender caress, traces its knuckles. Itâs different from any touch youâve felt.
Then he closes his fingers over the back of your hand and pulls it gently away. He doesnât let it go as he takes a step closer to you. He is so close. So close. You watch his dark pupils, realizing you have no need to give a step back. Only an urge to take one closer. But you would be too close.Â
You feel his warm breath before he closes his mouth, as if he was trying to suppress words trying to get out of his lips.
So you try to push him. âTell me,â you whisper, and itâs so tender and soft it seems to convenience him.
âY/NâŚâ
He doesnât continue, so you plead,â Please. Tell me, Draco.â
âI just knew exactly what to write on that paper.â
âBut how?â you question.
His lips curved into a timid smile. Never had you seen him so⌠you donât even have words to describe it.Â
âYou just know, Y/N.â
âDracoâŚâ you start, still not satisfied with the ambiguous answer.
âWhen you know, you know.â
And then he manages to smoothly slip away from you, walking away. But then he stops and turns.
âY/N?â
âWhat?â you say, trying to understand his odd behavior. Trying to understand the smile on his face.Â
âPlease, tell me when you know. Donât keep me waiting for too long.â
Tears run through your cheeks once the memories flow back to that little flask. That day. This flask. Draco.
Draco.
âYouâve found it,â your husband says, and you quickly turn to him.Â
Draco is at the door of your bedroom, staring at you as if waiting for your reaction. The flask, it was his birthday present to you.Â
âAnd here I was, thinking you would never find it there,â he tries to joke, but you clearly see he is nervous.
âDracoâŚâ you whisper, but you are not able to form words. So you run to hug him. He catches you, firm arms wrapping around your waist. âMy love, Iâm so sorry. Iâve ruined your surprise," you mumble.
âSo do you like it, love? And no, you did not ruin anything.âÂ
âLike it?â You move to look at him, making him see in your face how grateful you are. How much you love him. âDraco itâs perfect. You - youâve kept it all these years.â
He smiles sweetly. âY/N, that potion. When I drank it - I saw this. You and me, today. I saw myself holding you just like this, watching your beautiful face like you were the only thing in this world. I saw that when I was at a terrible point in my life, and it gave me strength to keep going. Seeing your eyes watching me as if you loved me, it told me life was worth living, it told me great things were to come. You were to come.â
Tears well in your eyes again at his words. âI was already there, remember?â you joke, grinning despite your wet cheeks.Â
Draco smiles lovingly as he wipes your tears. âI remember, my love. You were always there, and I always knew - somewhere in my heart, I always knew it was you.â

Eyes of the Devil
Summary: Pietro finds someone faster than him and you find your missing piece.
Warnings: violence, curse words, angst?, fluff
Reader:Â I wrote this with the reader being a male but it could be read as gender neutral; Male Vampire Reader
Pairings: Pietro x Male Vampire Reader (Gender Neutral); Laura Barton x Male Vampire Reader (Platonic)
Word Count: 3,312
A/n: Reader speaks Slavic. According to Google Translate = Moja duĹĄa - My soul. MalĂĄ holubica - Little dove. MalĂ˝ - Little one.... I plan on doing more one shots in relation to this one. I wouldnât really call it a series just a collection of random one shots with Pietro and this type of reader. Let me know if you wanna be tagged in them or if you have a request for a specific one shot you wanna see. This one shot was really just a starter for those future one shots coming.
Masterlist
If you were being honest, you didnât know how old you were. You knew you were at least a few millenniaâs old but after the first thousand years, who cares to keep track?Â
You also knew that life could get very boring if you didnât spice things up a little bit. Being a part time Avenger did just the thing for you. You didnât care enough to help out full time but you were there if they were dealing with something extra tricky. Like an alien invasion or enhanced individuals.
It had been a hot minute since you had seen the rest of the team and was pleasantly surprised to get a call from them. Apparently Hydra had managed to pass abilities from Lokiâs scepter onto humans giving them powers. One of them had an ability you shared thus pushing the Avengerâs to call you in.
Of course, you had a life of your own (surprisingly) and couldnât just drop everything to help them. Although, once you managed to push your responsibilities to a loyal friend you left to track down the team.
This lead you to a seemingly abandoned factory. Shocker.Â
You stayed in the shadows, undetected by everyone on the lower levels. You listened to the exchange between your team and the large robot. Your eyes then fluttered to the two that stood on the robots side. You deducted that those were the special individuals the team had called you in for.
You took in a deep breath, separating their scent from the others. You could sense the power coursing through their veins. While they had both gotten their abilities from the same source, you knew that they were very different.
If you gambled you would bet that the man was the speedster that Clint had complained about. Apparently he was a cocky little bastard. You didnât have to know the guy to know he was arrogant. He stood tall, his chest slightly puffed out and his chin high.Â
The talking didnât last long before a brawl broke out. Your eyes followed the male as he zoomed around the room. While it would be impossible for the others to see him moving at such speeds, it was as if he were walking to you.Â
He started coming your way, oblivious to the fact that you were even in the building. When he got close enough you stepped out and slammed a punch in his jaw. The force knocked him out of motion and over the railing. You watched as he fell to the main floor.
He groans, rolling onto his side as you land silently in front of him. Your entire body is covered making it impossible for him to see what you look like. Even your face, head and eyes were covered by some form of cloth or glasses.
âWhat? You didnât see that coming?â You ask, smirking behind the face covering.
You had to admit, with Clintâs description of him you were expecting him to look different. Instead heâs older and more attractive. The arrogance clung to the air around him and it only drew you in.
âWelcome to the party, Y/n,â Clint greets from somewhere in the building. You didnât respond knowing he wouldnât be able to hear you like you could hear him.
âWho are you?â The man asks, standing up on his feet. The Sokovian accent thick on his tongue.
âSomeone you donât want to piss off,â You warn fairly. He scoffs, causing your smirk to deepen. âWood of advice, stay out of the way, Moja duĹĄaâ You said, the name rolling off your tongue so casually you didnât realize what you had said at first. When you do realize, the weight of the situation falls onto your shoulders.Â
You stare at the man in front of you, his eyebrows furrowed. You knew that he could translate the words but he did not know the true meaning of them. Before he could ask anything, you sped out of sight.
You help out the rest of the team whilst keeping an eye on the speedster. After a few minutes, you noticed the others slowly begin to drop. Natasha stopped responding, Thor was muttering to himself and Steve looked lost. You could hear Hulk going on a rampage with Tony trying to stop him.
You snap out of it when you sense a presence behind you. It didnât take a genius to figure out it was the witch that had single handedly taken down the team.
When she got close enough to you, you whipped around and wrapped your hand around her throat. Her eyes widened and she becomes panicked. Her hand claws at your wrist as you lift her a few inch off the ground to become eyelevel with you.
âThere is no nightmare you can show me that I havenât already lived,â You hiss, tightening your grip around her. âBe careful, little witch, or youâll find a fight you canât win,â
You see, out of the corner of your eye, her brother speeding to her rescue. You hold onto her for a moment longer before dropping her to the ground and wrapping that same hand around his throat. While your grip is firm, it doesnât constrict his airway. You take a moment to admire how he looks with your hand around his throat. An unseeable grin comes to your lips.
âAre you mentally challenged or do you just not listen?â You ask, tilting your head. He glares and fights your grip but itâs iron tight. âTake your sister and run far away, Moja duĹĄa,â You tell him, the name slipping your tongue once again.
âWho are you?â He asks, once again.
âSomeone who will get you killed,â You tell him. You hand slowly leaves his neck. He stands there, observing you pensively. When he blinks, youâre out of sight.
...
You stuck around with the team. You got caught up on what was going on and what had happened since you last saw them. They asked if you would stay for a bit longer and your agreed.
You spent the night at Clint's with the others. His children hanging off of you as if you were a jungle gym. You tossed them into the air as many times as they pleaded you too. You also sped them around and played games with them. Even if you didnât want to admit it, the children had you wrapped around your finger. They have since they were born.
When you werenât entertaining children, youâre mind lingering on the male enhanced. You had learned their names through Steve. Wanda and Pietro.
You found yourself whispering his name as the night rolled on. You would smile a bit but it never lasted. You knew what he was to you and you to him. You also knew nothing could come of it, no matter how much you desired.
âYouâre up late,â Your head snaps to the side to see Laura waddling into the kitchen. You winced when she flicks the lights on. She mutters a small apology.
âI donât sleep, remember?â You reminded her.
âAh, right,â She whispers. âIn my defense, I have pregnancy brain mixed with morning brain,â She admits. âIâm forgetful,â
âIâve known you since you were a child, how could you forget me?â You question, smirking at her. âI feel as if Iâm quite unforgettable,â You admit, watching as she reaches for a glass to fill with water.
"I canât forget you because you continue to pop up in the most random moments demanding for attention,â Laura tells you, slowly lowering herself into a seat at the table.
âI may be an isolated creature but even I need some socializing,â You tell her. She motions for you to sit as she sips on her water. âYou should go back to sleep, Clint will be leaving in the morning. You need your rest, malĂĄ holubica,â You whisper to her.
âYou leave as well and who knows when the next time youâre going to pop in,â She says, patting the spot beside her. Her eyes pour into yours. Without the threat of the sun, you didnât need so much covering. You stayed in your trousers and vest but your arms, neck and head were exposed. âDonât make me beg for you to sit next to me,â
Sighing, you give into her wishes. You glide across the floor and sit beside her. She shifts so that the both of you are face to face. One of her hands rest on her stomach while the other falls onto your lap. You smile a bit, holding her hand within yours.
âSomethingâs on your mind,â She mutters.
âSomethingâs always on my mind,â You whisper back, keeping your gaze on her hand. Itâs significantly smaller their yours. It reminds you how fragile she is compared to you. âIts nothing for you to worry about,â You assure her.
âWell, we can still talk about it and make conversation,â Laura smiles.
âThereâs plenty of other things to talk about, itâs been a while since we've seen each other,â You said, finally meeting her gaze. She doesnât say anything for a moment as she stares into your eyes. Sheâs always been fascinated with them. Theyâre so inhuman. It always amused you how she found something about you, that struck fear and panic into so many, so beautiful.
The color of your irisâs are different shades of red. The red around your narrow pupil is bright and rich before transitioning into a deeper, darker red. The dark red seemed the slowly blend into the blackness of your sclera. Although, at the moment your eyes are significantly darker than normal as your throat continues to ache with hunger.
âYou need to feed,â She tells you. âWhen was the last time you ate?â
âDinner was lovely,â You comment. Her eyes narrow. âIâm fine, malĂĄ holubica,â
âYou need to take care of yourself,â She scolds.
âWhat will happen if I donât? Iâll die?â You growl, your hand clutching her a smidge too tight. Your anger vanishes when you notice her subtle flinch. âIâm sorry,â You whisper, gentle massaging away the ache you had caused in her hand.
âWhat happened today?â She asks. âDid you get affected like the others?â You smile, laughing quietly.
âNo amateur witch can sneak up on me, you should have more faith in me than that,â You tell her.
âThen whatâs going on?â She asks you. âYouâve been distant, lost in your own world. You snapped at me, you never snap at me,â She playfully pouts.
âI apologized, malĂ˝,â You practically whined. She smiles giving your hand a squeeze.Â
âI know but it just shows that something is bothering you... I wonât be able to sleep unless we talk this out,â She threatens. You narrow your eyes at her. âLike you said, Iâve known you since I was a little girl. You canât intimidate me,â Your glaring snarl turns into a pout. âTalk to me,â Sighing, you give in.
âMoja duĹĄa,â You whisper. Laura stares at you.
âMy soul,â She mumbles under her breath. âDimitri?â Your dead heart pangs at the sound of his name. Her face softens, her hand gripping yours in comfort.
âPietro,â You correct her.
âPietro?â She questions. âAs in..?â You nod. âMaybe this is fates way of using you to get him and his sister on the right path,â
âOr itâs way of cursing me into another heartbreak,â You growl, withdrawing your hand from hers. You stand and return to your spot by the window. âThe fates are cruel and hateful,â You snap.
âYou donât mean that,â She whispers. âShe never meant to bring you more pain. She only wanted you to find unconditional love during a heartless time,â
âShe should have kept to herself,â You growled. âShould have left me to my isolation. If she had she would still be alive and I would be-â
âAlone,â Laura cuts you off. âYour sister didnât want you to live alone. She knew she couldnât live as long as you. She knew you would outgrow everyone you knew,â
âWay to cheer me up,â You mumble. Laura sighs, pushing herself out of her chair. âPoint is, this wasnât supposed to be a curse... She had the right intentions,â She mutters, rubbing your back gently.
âI miss her,â You whisper, closing your eyes tightly.
âI know but you have me for the time being,â Laura whispers, hugging you tightly. You wrapped your arms around her, resting your chin on the crown of her head.
âHave I ever told you how similar your soul is to hers?â You whisper. âItâs what drew me to you... Itâs like I have her back through you,â
âI just want you to be happy, she would too,â
âCan you women just let me find my own happiness on my own terms and stop meddling with things?â You grumble. She laughs quietly.Â
âWe canât help it,â She whispers. âI love you, Y/n,â She whispers.
âI love you too, malĂĄ holubica,â You whisper, kissing her head. âNow, youâre caught up on the dramaâs of my life. Please, go get some rest,âÂ
âFine,â She sighs. âBut do me a favor,â You sigh as she steps away from you. âThink about the good that will happen if you let Pietro in instead of pushing him away. Then remember all the times you tried to push them away but ended up holding them close,â
âWhy am I so open with you about my past?â You sigh. âAll you do is throw it in my face,â She laugh, gently tapping your face.
âThink about it,â
...
In the morning, you left with your team. You gave the kids extra long hugs before giving an equally tight hug to Laura. She scolds you for not visiting more and you promise to change that before climbing onto the jet.
When you find Ultron, you stick with Steve. The two of you fight the large robot to keep him occupied. While Steve managed to push the tin man around a bit, your punches managed to dent his plating.Â
Ultron began to put his focus towards you, which you found flattering. You took the brunt of the punches while Steve basically danced around him. The both of you were managing to fight off the robot when Ultron got a hand on your hood and ripped the jacket off of your body.Â
You screamed as your arms, neck and face began to burn under the sunâs rays. You barely register Steve tackling Ultron into a train. You fall to your knees feeling your skin begin to catch on fire.
Your mind pushes you through the pain. You look for shade but before you can run for cover your being grabbed and put onto the train. You lean against the wall, away from the sun.
You breathe heavily, your eyes opening a little to see Pietro kneeling in front of you. Thereâs concern in his eyes and despite the pain youâre in you smile.
âPerfect timing, Moja duĹĄa,â You pant.
âY/n, you alright?â Steve asks, standing beside you. You just give him the thumbs up. âLost sight of Ultron, thereâs civilianâs in our path,â Steve say looking to Pietro knowing that your body is too focused on healing to help.
âGo,â You whisper, seeing his hesitance. Pietro nods and speeds off. You groan when the train goes off the rails.Â
âYou sure youâre going to pull through?â Steve asks, once the train stops. While the burns on your skin were to a lesser degree they were still red and you were still sore.
âJust help me up,â You grumble, holding out a hand. Steve grips it and hauls you to your feel. âFucking robots and trains... I miss the days when humanity didnât have fucking technology,â You grumble, following Steve off the train.
â-need to take a minute,â Pietro pants.
âIâm very tempted not to give you one,â Steve snaps, marching up to him.
âThe Cradle, did you get it?â
âStark will take care of it,â Steve assures them as you speed past the sun and back into the shade. Pietro stares at you for a moment before disappearing only to reappear with a sweatshirt. He hands it to you.
âThanks,â You mutter, pulling it on to shield you from the sun.
âDonât mention it,â He smirks.
...
Visionâs introduction was dramatic, to say the least. You stayed out of the drama. The only reason you continued to stick around was for Pietro. Although, you werenât sure if that was a good thing or not. Death follows you wherever you go, even more so than the Avengers.
You knew you needed to make a decision soon before the bond got to the point where you couldnât leave. It didnât help that Pietro didnât respect the distance you were putting between the two of you. He followed you around like a damn puppy.
âWhat are you?â He asks.
âTake a wild guess,â You say, looking through the fridge for something to drink.
âI can only think of myths and legends... Stories to scare children,â
âYou believe in talking robots but not me?â You ask, turning towards him with a blood bag in hand. He watches as your fangs extend and sink into the bag.
âSo, you are real...â Pietro mutters.
âUnfortunately,â You mutter, tossing the empty bag to the side.
âWhat does Moja duĹĄa mean?âÂ
âYou know what it means,â
âI donât think I do,â He says moving toward you. âI think it means something more to you,â
âStop,â You tell him but he doesnât until youâre toe to toe.
âMy grandmother would tell my sister and I stories about you... or your kind,â He tells you. âSaid that certain people were cursed to be stuck with your kind for eternity,â
âSheâs right... it is a curse,â You tell him.
âDoesnât feel like it,â He tells you.
âCandy, bread, beer, it all tastes good but theyâre not necessarily good for you,â You tell him. âThink of this on a much bigger, much deadlier scale,â
âSounds exciting,â He smirks. You sigh pressing your lips together. He raises his hand toward the glasses you had yet to take off. Your hands shoot up and wrap around his wrist.
âTurn around and go back to your sister,â You demand. âForget you ever saw me,â
âYouâre unforgettable,â Pietro whispers. The two of you stay still until Pietro begins to move his hands again. They slip from your wrist as you allow him to take the glasses off. âOÄi diabla,â He recites the line that is in all the stories. âEyes of the devil,â He translates. âWho would have thought the devil would be so attractive?â
...
âIf I see another Goddamn robot after this, Iâm going to blow a gasket,â You hiss towards the end of the battle against Ultron and his multiples. You run around the city killing robots and rescuing civilians.
Eventually, ships come to the edge of the city to evacuate everyone. You run through the city multiple times in order to make sure nobody is left behind. You return to the ships in time to see Pietro go to save Clint and the child heâs protecting.
Your instincts over take you. Your by his side faster than a heart beat. Your arms wrap around him. You speed out of harms way without missing a beat. When youâre out of the way, you rip a door off a car and launch it at the spaceship sending it to the ground before turning to Pietro.
âAre you alr-â Pietro cuts you off with a kiss. The simple kiss amplifies the already strong bond between the two of you. Your hand instinctively rest on his hips and pull him against you.
âThank you,â He mutters against your lips. You smirk, returning your lips to his.
...
I plan on doing more one shots in relation to this one. I wouldnât really call it a series just a collection of random one shots with Pietro and this type of reader.Â
Let me know if you wanna be tagged in them or if you have a request for a specific one shot you wanna see

Worldwide check-ins from Civic Initiative alumni during the COVID-19 epidemic (part 1)
Mike Hannahan, director of the UMass Civic Initiative, asked alumni last week about how the COVID-19 pandemic was affecting them and what they were doing to take care of themselves during this unprecedented time across the world. Here are there responses, categorized by country.
The responses are to two questions: How has the coronavirus changed your life? How are you taking care of yourself?
###
Italy
Locked at home under "house arrest" on my own. No contagion, at least no symptoms. Family split, I am in Lombardy, the most dangerous place in the world, sister in Lisbon, parents in Taranto. E-teaching is a nightmare, always working in front of the computer.
Going out every 2/3 weeks to buy food, wearing gloves. No face mask, I can't find them anywhere, putting a scarf on my nose and mouth, like a far West outlaw man.
Argentina
Today we are in a complete quarantine, we cannot go out, unless we go to the market or the pharmacy. We have to be in our homes, not going to work or we could go to prison. It's complicated but it's a sacrifice for a good cause.
We cannot complain if we are at home with food and internet. It's hard but not impossible, it could be worst. We don't have to forget that is the only way we could help to stop the virus. Just stay at home. We are not being asked to go to war, to risk our lives, we are being asked just to stay with our family. Call your friends if you miss them, call your boyfriend, but do not minimize what you could cause if you go out of your house.
 Turkey
Materially not much, I and my family are in good health, but mentally I am devastated by this development. As a professor of international relations, I observe very extraordinary/unusual developments and cases in my country and the world at large. I ask and wonder about many consequences of this coronavirus problem, which I call it as humanity's ontological war against the virus and the nature in general. In this respect we in Turkey also have extraordinary measures and policies: schools and universities are closed; distance learning started first time; travel, meeting, entertainment, even shops and many other places are restricted or closed. In short, our life is getting miserable and scary like in the "American horror films"!Â
The first and the most important thing is that I and my family isolated ourselves from society and even our larger family connections, locked into home except for shopping. But, thanks to classical and social media such as Twitter, we are strongly engaged with the external world, learning things about and sharing my views with the world. Consequently, we are living in a strange world in many ways: coronavirus threatens us, but we struggle against, definitely defeat it.Â
 Hungary
I am distancing... It is a state of emergency from March 12th in Hungary. The borders are closed for foreigners. More and more of the clothing, furniture and similar stores are closing, except for pharmacies, grocery stores, gas stations and tobacco shops. People can still go to work (if they are not in home office). My university switched to remote learning. However, we don't have clear rules for distance learning. So, I basically preparing informative slides with helping docs and video lectures in Camtasia (6-10 minutes each).
I was like a person in the joke: on the first day, I found a woman on my couch. (It turned out that she's my wife. She is nice.) More seriously, I am working from home. Luckily my wife, too. Our kid's kindergarten is closed since Monday (16th). So we are together. Since it is not mandatory yet to be in our homes, I try to take a walk every day. If I see somebody then I go to the other side of the street. We are cooking every day and in general, we try to have a daily schedule. The life is pretty much the same as it was in Yugoslavia/Serbia during the NATO bombing in 1999. A daily schedule could help a lot to get back in normal when this 'shutdown' is over.
 Pakistan
You may know, I am Resident of Internal Medicine leading to specialty now at HMC Peshawar, one of the prime teaching hospital, at the capital city of our province Khyber Pukhtunkhwa. I am actively involved in the health policy and advocacy for doctorsâ rights as well. Currently, I represent the Provincial Doctors Association Khyber Pukhtunkhwa as official spokesperson and Member Executive council.
I am part of Corona (COVID-19) Combat Team of my hospital and Provincial policy board. The aim of both of the above is to contain the disease and treat the already affected ones. I was very instrumental in the process of devising a policy and now to accomplish what has been planned to combat this highly infective and deadly virus. In short, I am among the few to face and fight this pandemic in the front lines.Â
How am I taking care of myself? The answer to the above question is simple, our government doesn't have many resources. The PPE's (Personal Protection Equipment) are missing. There are a very limited number of masks, goggles and protective gowns available. Most doctors are working without any protection. One of our doctors just died today at Gilgit, Dr. Osama. Our President of Association is isolated in quarantine as he dealt a patient suspected case of the virus with a positive travel history of China which later on come out to be a positive case after PCR testing. Many doctors are exposed due to the non-availability of PPEs. Yesterday, I did a press conference and demanded the Provincial government to provide PPEs to all the health staff working in the ERs and OPD clinics.
 Australia
I'm currently living in Sydney, Australia. One month ago I started to work as a Program Coordinator at Generation Australia, a non-for- profit that trains unemployed people to get jobs. Since last week all trainings were switched to on-line learning. So I work from home and all the students study from home. Apart from that, Australia has closed its borders for all people who are not Australians. So if I go out even to see my family back in Argentia, I won't be able to get in again anytime soon. That would mean losing my job.Â
I wash my hands very frequently and try to avoid crowded places and taking public transport.
 Pakistan
The coronavirus is turning out to be surprising us with a new challenge every day. The government is saying numbers increasing day by day. For a person who has to work to earn, the uncertainty and now the lockdown is making her/him thinking how s/he will be managing things for the future. The lockdown is said to be for 10 to 14 days, but experts are suggesting that it can be prolonged to months and even for a year. The biggest challenge we are facing is uncertainty, no one knows what to expect and what to plan for the coming days which surely can be predicted as very challenging.
I personally am looking into and following the guidelines shared by the WHO, which starts from regular handwashing, not touching face and avoiding public places as much as possible. I am looking forward to social distancing, self-isolating myself and with my family until the situation becomes normal again.
 India
I as teacher and responsible citizen was always telling in classrooms and talks outside for years maintain personal hygiene...keep ur surroundings clean...wash hands whenever u have to eat anything...but most of the people in India doesnât bother unless some epidemic breaks out. After that, its life as usual...spitting, urinating, keeping surroundings unclean are common sights on the roads here... No government can do anything if people in that society doesnât have self-health discipline. I as warden and vice-principal saw that 1000 students under my control are asked to vacate hostels 2 days back and come back on 31st March. Told the students not to join weddings and festival gatherings...warned them not come with some virus when they return to campus later this month
As I am a sportsman too, maintain the utmost health discipline from the beginning. I must thank my parents for this. Alternate days tennis...mask when I go out...wash hands as frequently as possible as water is a scarce resource in our country.
 England
I am in London as I moved here 2 years ago but as you know all my family and friends in Turkey hence, it was a very hard decision for me to choice staying here...It has changed my life a lot already. My husband and I are working from home now. We tried to stay at home as much as we can even before the government advice. I am still frustrated with Boris for his very late decision to close schools, bars, pubs ext. I am a face-to-face major gift fundraiser, therefore, now we need to find out new ways how my role can evolve with the current situation.
In terms of taking care of myself, as I said we go out only for a walk or market shopping. Thank God, we are healthy and due to at-home physical activities, having enough sleep and ext. I feel good physically. However, it is challenging to keep sane and calm mentally.
I am terrified to get a coronavirus as NHS is not capable of taking care of any patients and we are expected to get well at home. Also, I am very concerned for my family and friends since the rates in Turkey is also increasing rapidly. At last, having thought of losing them and not being able to see them again is killing me, that's my biggest fear at this moment. Other than that I am fine writing my dissertation, working, cooking, painting at home to keep myself busy.
 Iraq
We registered more than 200 cases with 17 deaths and the spread is getting serious in our country, so there was a curfew forced by the government so we are staying home and that was so boring at first. I used to go out like every day and this is a big challenge for me to stay home. We have to adhere to our own benefit and the bright side is we are spending much more time with our families, so it won't be worse than catching the infection.
Some measures I'm taking to protect myself and family is by encouraging them to stay home, using some chemicals to fumigate the house, and when I go out for necessities I use good protection with face mask and gloves and using alcohol frequently.
My final word is to encourage everyone to stay home and enjoy what's in your houses, you will be surprised with the things you can do in your place.
 Finland
Finland is in lockdown since 18 March 2020. I am in self-quarantine since 14 March after arriving from a one week trip to Belarus back to Finland that day. I live with my husband in Joensuu, Eastern Finland where epidemics have not hit as yet. However, we are moving to our new flat in Helsinki 30 March which is now a stressful and exiting situations in the present circumstances.
In Finland there is a strong suggestion to stay at home and reduce all social contacts. So, we live quietly and go for walks with our dog twice a day. Shops are open normally and in Finland the globally exceptional emergency supply work supports the trustworthy situation with foodstuff and pharmacies in such time of crisis (we are proud for that!).
My daughters are students and staying in their homes in Helsinki region. High Schools and universities are closed down and all people who can do distance work. So, all kinds of challenges and solutions for distance work and supporting those alone at home without face-to-face contacts are important at the moment.
The present lockdown is issued till 13 April. In Finland first death due to Corona took place yesterday. We have 500 reported Corona cases at the moment. The most serious concern is about those over 70 years old.
 Cameroon
Although there is no nationwide lockdown, we are advised to stay at home, and to go out only if it is compulsiry. We had a very busy first semester. I reduce academic activities.
May God make us safe.
 Pakistan
Watching the death toll rising around the globe has made me realize, how even at the peak of technology and billions of dollars at our disposal. To fight mother nature head-on is something we cannot do in one day. The virus is spreading exponentially in our country and it is sad that only a few hundred thousand are taking it seriously, while millions are making fun of it. This has made me take on another challenge which is to teach and aware people of the dangers of this virus. As our majority of the population is Muslim, we live our religion, so I am trying to relate the awareness with the Islamic concepts. Hopefully, by teaching through social media will benefit some and creates a chain reaction.
This is a global crisis and must be tackled with everything a human can do.
Be safe everyone, be helpful and empathetic.
 Pakistan
Indeed this pandemic is a colossal test for the self and our collective character. Amidst the gloom of rising Covid-19, itâs understandable that every single person on this earth can be affected by it. It has a multidimensional impact at individual, national and international levels. This epidemic has changed my thinking patterns and make me more conscious of the philosophy of life. It is affecting my personal, professional and academic life. Actually, I was busy in the data collection of my postgraduate thesis; but unfortunately, I have to stop it. No doubt, itâs a challenge for âhumanityâ, the current situation is depressing and alarming but the indomitable human nature can deal with it. At the individual level, I am trying to isolate myself and my family; also, I am following all the authentic instructions by international(WHO) and national agencies(NIH) because, âhealth is wealthâ. As a responsible community we should have to take serious precautions about this natural call. This is the crucial time to reflect back critically on âourselvesâ (self-purification) by evaluating the purpose and meaning of life. Hopefully, we will defeat this health war wisely, the required input from every policy stakeholder can act like a safety-chain for the entire human community. However-in proceeding years-it is clearly evident that there will be a neo-social  change in transnationalism and the domestic policy arena.Â
 Indonesia
This global pandemic has certainly changed my daily routine. My workplace has been conducted work from home regulation to protect the employer from the events. My works have been much in their field, where I need to work with stakeholders and community, but this situation changed our plan. Though it is hard to still conduct some work with the community since we prevent to do face to face activity, but this moment we gave a try in initiating an online platform. In how we teach people to occupy current technology. There are still many challenges as it might not effectively work with a community who were never exposed or experienced any technology. At this moment, I learn about the technology gap as well.
On the other hand, this global pandemic also got me to learn about such a complex system in dealing with a global pandemic. I learn to see the gap in the socio-economic class dynamics in the ocommunity. Moreover, to see the systematic failure in addressing the issue. It has never been this concerning to see the vulnerable groups (elders, disabled people, women, low-income family, etc.) would be the ones who got the most severe impact of this event. As a civic society, we might be so aware about this issue, but we donât have much âpowerâ to create such a significant change in dealing with this virus. But, I see the crucial courage to push people in power through advocacy to take such an important action and commitment to make sure that everyone could be treated fairly during this emerging situation.
I am trying to have healthy lifestyle. I consume more vegetables, fruits and a balanced diet. I do regular workouts. Reading and listening to music for my free time. And I am trying to focus on my works too. It is a bit overwhelming to keep reading the news and update, sometimes it has been too complicated and frustrating. In this very uncertain situation, it is good to balance what I need to know and when to stop scrolling Twitter.
 Pakistan
I was at my university when I got to know about the COVID-19 Pandemic. Our class finished before its usual time and we were asked to leave our class room quickly. When I came out of the room, we were informed that the university was closed for 15 days because of the coronavirus outbreak that has infected several people across Pakistan. It was very shocking for me because I was living my usual life. I was unaware of the occurrence of such an unexpected deadly virus causing a huge loss to humanity. We were overloaded with assignments, case studies, readings etc. I did not know anything about the pandemic at all or its horrendous effects on other countries. When I googled Covid-19, I felt so dreadful looking at its adverse effects in China, Italy, Iran and other countries. The most frightening part was how it spreads fast among people and now most of the world was suffering from it. The unsympathetic, horrific coronavirus changed my life as it brought so much uncertainty, confusion and worry with itself. Realizing that the virus has no vaccine or cure until now makes me so anxious and nervous. I spent last week constantly dreading about the future of the humanity. I am concerned about all the countries where so many people are illiterate and they are not aware of the seriousness of coronavirus and how lethal it could be to humans. I feel as if my life has become immobile. Amidst the chaotic situation, I cannot think about my future plans, dreams or goals. As a working woman, I used to work 8 hours as an English language instructor in a college and I would take post-graduate classes in the evening. Now, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, I am practicing self-isolation which made my life so dormant and passive. I miss my colleagues and friends. We cannot hang out like usual anymore. The news channels constantly update us about the rising number of coronavirus patients and how the situation is getting worst throughout the world. Mostly countries despite trying their best are experiencing worst circumstances. The situation is strange, stagnant, desperate and hopeless but realizing how China successfully came out of it gave me hope. Nowadays, I am focusing on how I can spread awareness regarding the coronavirus technologically. I am sharing and spreading coronavirus precautionary videos, voice messages, photos, text messages with people and groups. I miss my life before the coronavirus outbreak but I am concentrating on how I can help people amid the pandemic. My life and concerns have totally changed during the coronavirus outbreak. I have started focusing on the need of the hour which is to follow all the safety measures and to provide support to people through spreading awareness about safety measures and guiding them to be compassionate during this challenging time. I am trying my best to act as a responsible citizen and human in order to contribute my share in controlling the coronavirus outbreak.
I keep on washing my hands after every 20 to 30 minutes. I am more conscious and attentive when I go out for doing some inevitable tasks. Initially, I used hand sanitizer frequently but they got finished in the market which was troublesome. I ordered gloves for myself and now I use gloves whenever I go out. Furthermore, I have been using a mask for pollution and seasonal allergy so wearing a mask during the pandemic is not something tough for me. I started practicing self-isolation the day I got to know about precautionary measures which all of us have to take during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Self-isolation which was boring at first as I used to be out till evening before the COVID-19 pandemic for work and evening classes. Now I spend most of my time reading, watching movies, playing indoor games, article writing, praying and working on my assignments. These activities keep me busy and I do not feel pessimistic or gloomy due to this sudden lifestyle change which was greatly depressing for me at the start. I am trying my best to act with complete responsibility as it does not only concern my life but many others too. We all have to try to break the chain in order to stop the spread of coronavirus. If we follow the precautionary measures, we can win this fight against this global pandemic. The restraint that we practice during this chaotic pandemic will help in restoring human life as it was before the coronavirus outbreak. Â
 Iraqi Kurdistan
My city and all Kurdistan is under lockdown now. Because of the nature of my work, I am still allowed to go to work at my hospital, but pretty much almost all other non-essential businesses are closed. I hope this doesn't become the new normal. Â
I try to not go out and stay at home unless I really have to. At work, we take the necessary measures. All the doctors, nurses and hospital staff have to use personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect themselves.
 ArgentinaÂ
The quarantine has affected us all at a personal level, but the economic effect is also very significant. Work opportunities are more scarce and the near future seems complicated in that sense. Although what worries me most is how this will affect the people who depend on the informal economy. Governments from all over the world have to develop policies to support marginalized groups in this context. It is easy to shelter in place if you can fill your fridge, it is more difficult if you can't.
Besides following the publicly known instructions, I am also wearing a mask when I go buy groceries. Some say it protects you better from the virus and some say it doesn't, but everybody agrees on the fact that it is good for not spreading it. You never know how it will affect you or even if you have it without showing symptoms yet.Â
Ecuador
How has the coronavirus changed your life? Well, the university closes all installations and send students and professors to home. So, right now I am working at home and trying to fulfill all my duties until the beginning of the next semester. Besides by an order of the authorities, remain at home is compulsory and one just can go out to obtain supplies and medicines.
Since last Thursday I remain at home.
 Australia
A few minor things such as football season being suspended, travel bans, pubs and cafes being closed, and limited availability in supermarkets of some things such as rice, pasta etc. Major disruption has involved the University of Tasmania stopping all face-to-face teaching (tutes and lectures) and lecturers transitioning to fully online teaching. Things will change in Tasmania when either a government decision to close schools is made, or schools make the decision independent of government.
Iâm socially isolating and following advice about hygiene. Iâm still going for a bike ride when I can to keep myself healthy
South Africa
COVID-19 has redefined my pattern of social interactions among peers. It has placed restrictions on my movement and keeps me at home and my desk. Unnecessary visits discarded and concentrate more on my research. Nevertheless, it has created an atmosphere of fear and panic. It is a time that has drawn me closer to God and sharing the gospel with friends. I explore the social media platforms to encourage people to put their trust in God in the face of a raging pandemic.
I take care of myself by improving personal hygiene and maintaining my food habits. I keep social distance having restricted my movements and contacts with people.
 Ethiopia
I am deeply saddened by the death and suffering of thousands of people across the world. Here in my country, Ethiopia, the spread of the virus, according to official figures, is limited to a handful of people who contracted it while abroad. There is no report of domestic transmission so far. Nevertheless, schools are closed for two weeks (we are now into the second week) and classes are suspended for university students. As university instructors, we are supposed to help students study while at home but the problem is that we do not have the necessary preparations to do that. Though the spread of the virus is very limited the global situation is hitting the country very hard. The country is very dependent on exports and imports in the countries seriously affected by the virus. So, there is a shortage of important supplies such as sanitizers, alcohol, face masks and food items. So, people are turning to traditional ways of preventing epidemics. In fact, as we are yet to suffer from the spread of the virus, we are going to see the real reaction of the people in the immediate future. Our thoughts are with those who are suffering from the virus.

What Lies Underneath (Part Three)
Pairing: Tony Stark x Reader
Word Count: 1,875
Summary: You canât stand Tony Stark. But when your job is put on the line, youâre forced into isolation with him for several months.
Warnings: Fighting, swearing
Authorâs Note: Time for the big blowup.
Part 2
Patience had never been one of your virtues.
You had never been one to bite your tongue, stop yourself from rolling your eyes, substitute a groan for a smile, or treat someone pissing you off with kindness. You had no problem letting your grievances be known, regardless of whom the person was.
Except this time, said person held the fate of your career in the balance. Thatâs why after your encounter with Tony in the shed, you had pledged to yourself to make an effort to be nicer to him, to go along with whatever conversation he initiated, and to keep your opinions about every little abhorrent habit of his to yourself. Just plaster on a smile, learn to make nice, and push past the difficulties. It would be a challenge, but it was nothing you wouldnât be able to handle.
You were wrong. You were so dead wrong. Living with Tony Stark was so horrendous that a saint wouldnât have the patience to put up with him. You woke up at least once in the middle of the night, almost every night, to hear him making noise out back in the shed. So much so that you couldnât remember what a normal, uninterrupted nightâs sleep felt like anymore. He inhaled most of the food you brought back from the grocery store, consuming what should have lasted you for three weeks in one. You soon learned that if there was a bag of chips or cookies that you wanted to dive into later, you needed to hide them in your room, otherwise theyâd be long gone the next time you checked the pantry.
And lastly, you thought a middle-aged adult, especially one from such a well-to-do family, would have been taught manners and how to clean up after themselves. Tony, however, seemed to be under the impression that your babysitting services also extended to maid services. He made no effort to pick up after himself in the den, put away any food or dirty dishes lying out in the kitchen, and when asked to clean something up, heâd reply with a âlaterâ and some excuse about how he was close to a breakthrough on getting the boat working again. It soon became a war of attrition- you could either suck it up and pick up his mess, or wait for him to clean it up himself, which rarely happened, and live in a dirty house. So you mostly settled for the former, grimacing every time you had to pick up a sweaty old shirt from the couch, found leftover food lying on the counter overnight, and the subsequent flies it attracted. You tried to keep your resolve to work through it, to not complain, to see the light at the end of the tunnel. But there was only so much you could handle.
You supposed thatâs what made what happened next all the more inevitable.
You had been coming home after a long, arduous walk in the woods, ready to make yourself some dinner, treat your sore muscles to a long, hot shower, and hopefully get a solid nightâs sleep from how much you had worn yourself out.
But the second you set foot in the kitchen, your plans for a quiet, relaxing evening vanished.
You shook your head for a second, deliberating if you had somehow been transported into a frat house rather than your own kitchen. The island and counters were covered in an array of pasta sauce, water, bits of pasta both cooked and uncooked, and soggy strands of grated Parmesan cheese. The dirty dishes that should have been the vessels for said mess were stacked throughout every surface in the kitchen, with only a few having made it into the sink. Unwashed. And none placed in the dishwasher. Right. Beside. It.
And at the fridge, getting himself a bottle of water, was the source of the chaos and soon, likely the victim of a homicide. Closing the fridge door and briefly catching your gaze, he acknowledged you with a nod and a quick âhey, sweet cheeks," and began to make his way towards the kitchen door leading out back, acting like this was a daily occurrence and the kitchen didnât look like a bomb had just gone off in it.
You said a small prayer and took a deep breath for patience. Enough was enough. âTony, could you please clean this up?â You asked in your best HR-approved voice.
âIn a bit,â he dismissed, not even looking at you and recognizing the impending wrath on your face. âIâm working on something.â
âNo, not in a bit!â You whined. âItâs disgusting and Iâm sick of being the only one to do any cleaning around here!â
Tony pinched his brows together at you, looking as if he had no idea where this reaction, which had been completely foreseeable in your mind, had come from.
      âRelax, itâs just one mess.â
âNo, itâs not just one mess. Iâve been cleaning up after you since the day we got here. Iâm not your mommy, your girlfriend, or your maid. And I donât want to be here anymore than you do.â
Tony pulled a face at you, and you reminded yourself that your frustration was completely legitimate and you werenât overreacting. It wasnât your fault he was clueless to how his actions affected everyone around him.
âOkay, can you calm down for one second and stop acting like you hate my very existence? Didnât Fury say this was part of your job if you wanted a promotion?â
You closed your eyes, trying to bury your anger. You could get through this.
âWorking for me isnât that bad,â Tony muttered, taking a sip of his water.
And thatâs what set you off.
âNews flash, I do NOT work for you. I work for SHIELD and Fury. And unlike one of us, Iâve actually EARNED where I am today. I had to work for everything I have. I did my best in school despite being bullied and tormented by people like you. I worked my way through college, I knocked on every door after graduation trying to find a decent-paying job, and Iâm still paying off my loans. I didnât have a trust fund and a company that my daddy handed to me.â
âPeople like me?â Tonyâs expression seemed to be a cross between confusion and smug amusement. âFunny coming from the girl who refuses to have a single conversation with me. You donât know anything about me.â
You let out something between a scoff and a laugh. âUnfortunately for both of us, I know everything about you.â
Your better judgment screamed at you to stop, to shut up unless you wanted to lose your job, but the malice just wouldnât stop pouring out of your mouth. And the more you said, the stronger your contempt became, and it only became that much more impossible to stop.
âI know that you were handed the world on a silver platter and you waste every bit of it with booze, promiscuity, and the attitude of a 13-year-old. You canât appreciate a single thing youâve been given because youâve never had to work for anything. And the few people who can stand to be around you, you treat them like theyâre disposable. When you stepped down from Stark Industries and threw Pepper into what should have been your responsibility, how did you thank her? By pawing at Natasha and being completely reckless. Itâs no wonder she dumped you. The dozens, Iâm sorry, hundreds of women youâve had one-night stands with at least only had to be around you for less than a few hours. And whatâs more is that you donât sleep around because you want another notch in your bedpost, or even because you love sex. You do it because you want a break from being you. Because youâve just now realized that all of the weapons youâve built over the years actually do kill people, people whose lives matter just as much as anyone elseâs, because you have to act like an adult and be part of a team. And your sob story of how itâs hard to have so much money or your daddy expected too much of you or didnât hug you enough or whatever the fuck you tell people to try and evoke sympathy, none of that gives you a green light to be an asshole. Everyone on this planet has been through something painful or traumatic. The difference is, the rest of us actually learn how to deal with it. We sit our asses down on a therapistâs couch once a week, we take antidepressants, we find out what works and what doesnât, and we get on with our lives. Youâve asked me before why I canât stand you, but I think the better question is- what is there to like about you?â
Your entire body was shaking as you tried to blink back tears and catch your breath, in shock at the atrocity of words that had come out of your mouth. And there was no taking them back now.
Tony stared at you, his jaw open and his face white as a sheet. For once in his life, he was speechless.
You both stared at each other for what seemed like hours, neither one of you willing to stand down. Finally, Tony broke the silence.
âI can see why Fury sent you now,â he said with a strangely pragmatic tone.
âAnd whyâs that?â You asked, your tone unnaturally calm after your sudden outburst.
âAs punishment for both of us.â His voice was quiet, quiet enough that you had to focus to hear him, but loud enough where he was certain you could hear his every word. âYouâre so miserable you canât stand to see anyone else happy. So you feel like itâs your job to drag everyone else down with you and make them just as unhappy as you are. Because since youâre incapable of being happy, you donât want anyone else to be either.â
You wanted to reply, to tell him that none of that was true. You needed to get the last word in and not let him think that he was right, again, but you had nothing. You clenched your jaw, glaring at him before sweeping out of the room.
You stormed down the hallway to your bedroom, slamming the door behind you, ripping your nightstand drawer open, and pulling out your burner phone. You furiously typed a message to Natasha, your fingers shaking with rage as tears ran down your face.
âI donât care if you have to charter a G6, walk several hours through a desert on foot, or send a fucking carrier pigeon. Tell Fury- Iâm done.â
You pressed send, but didnât even care if it went through or not. You collapsed onto your pillow as the self-loathing weighed down on you, and started sobbing. Hugging your knees to your chest, you shut your eyes as every nasty word of what you had said replayed in your mind, and all you could do was pray for sleep to overtake you.
Little did you know, across the hallway in his own room, Tony was doing exactly the same thing.

4/22/17 10:25pm a letter to my writing teacher about callum
youâve probably gotten the email by now, so why havenât you said anything? Well thatâs tough, because you havenât said anything for months, not since that night when, I guess, you thought youâd said everything you needed to.
I want to hear your side of the story
I never thought Iâd have to defend myself so much to you, especially considering you were the one who fucked up between us. You abandoned me when I reached out for friends. You told me âIf you ever need support, just ask for it. I want to be there for you always.â Well I was asking.Â
Hey where are you? I need a friend right now
You never responded that night. I saw a half assed text the next morning of, âHope it all worked out.â But that was bullshit and you should have known that. As your self-described best friend on campus, I would have expected a little more warmth, but I knew where you were. I knew you were with the problem, and youâd take her side because god forbid you risk blue balls helping your friend.
I wasnât even mad that you two were getting to know each other, you never would have met without me. I hope it gives you both hell that I set you up. Me, this 'disgusting racist, stupid bitch.âÂ
White people donât talk about politics
The catalyst for this clusterfuck of my sophomore year was her, ranting about how white people are all inherently racist because they donât talk about political issues at family events. I wasnât even the first one to call her out on this. The whole room seemed on my side that there are a lot of reasons why people wouldnât want to start fights over politics with older relatives. It seemed so strange to me how mad she was that people were challenging her. She scoffed and glared and sent huge angry rant texts to you about how the whole room called her out. Eventually the conversation lost the topic and it just sat with me.
Hey I donât mean to start fights, but this thing you said yesterday kind of rubbed me the wrong way so I was wondering if we could clear it up? IÂ just donât feel like its fair to say that ALL white people avoid political discussion ALL the time. Its not appropriate to debate grandma on your differing views on politics at christmas because fighting at christmas just isnât cool to do. You think I wouldnât like to talk to those relative that i disagree with and argue my side? You donât do that at thanksgiving.Â
Im not going to defend white people. You dont talk about politics because you donât need to, racial issues donât affect you.
Ryanâs thanksgiving had the same parameters to not talk about politics.. His extended family is all japanese, but they still donât agree on political issues that arenât about race, like money and womenâs rights..
*ignores my point* if they disagree with you then you should cut them out of your life. you shouldnt sit idly by while your family is racist.
there are a lot of reasons why you shouldnât cut yourself off from relatives.. money reasons, or the fact that theyâre family...
*scoffs*
I never meant to get her angry at me. I hate confrontation as much as the next introvert, I just didnât like feeling like things were unsolved. I never expected her to blow up. That night after we parted from a her screaming at me for 2 hours, I texted you for help. I reached out. you were the one who abandoned me, but that didnât matter. You only heard her side of the story when she was angry and getting high off aggression. That didnât mean that you had to defend her and ask for my side in a nasty way. I thought you knew me better than to think I was such an awful person, or believe the lies she was telling you.
You werenât even there, you donât know what I said
Youâre disgusting. Youâre a racist. You deserve whatâs happening.
I would expect a fight from the problem girl, but not from you. Did you forget about every night you came to my door to cry on my shoulder? Did you forget that I made you dinner every other night for the past two years? Did you forget every time that you said you needed a friend, and I was there? Apparently none of your previous memories of me were as fact as what she was telling you. Forget about the years of our friendship built on honesty, and support, even when you messed up. I took your side in your first breakup, I believed you. I held your head in my lap as you sobbed about how she hurt you. That was me being there for you, not Ms. Problem. but i guess iâm happy i could secure you a side chick for the rest of the year, my parting gift. But through our whole fight, past you calling me a disgusting racist, was calling me stupid. You knew my weak spot. Years of being the dumb blonde and bullied in middle school to eventually dyeing my hair; things you knew. Thus you sculpted your flawless argument of attacking my intelligence
Use your fucking pea sized brain you idiot and read what i just fucking wrote you. Are you really that dumb?
I just want to know what I did wrong.. what did i even do to you?
You are impossibly dense, fucking retard
When you only hear one side of the story, you believe it. Thatâs true of you, along with the rest of my now ex friend group. I was the only one who didnât live in this house. The whole lot of 10 people who I thought i was friendly with took the same side you did, blind hate for me. I donât know what I expected from the rest of this group. Gossip and berating other students was just their way of bonding, and i was the next target wheeled out.Â
It feels like my feet are drilled to the floor as this gang takes an archery class. None of them heard my side, and they never would. instead, they collectively shunned me. Â Ms. Problem kicked me out of the musical crew for Cabaret. Both relieved to not see them anymore and angry at her, I didnât come back. The whole crew blocked me on social media and would avoid my gaze as I passed by. Some openly glare at me and give me death stares. There is nothing more isolating than your only friend group one day deciding to hate you, and you never get to defend yourself. Youâre just screaming under water, no one can hear you, or rather bothers to listen.
Do you feel good harboring this much hate inside you?
No, but Iâd rather keep it to myself and you fucking stop trying to talk to me
This is ridiculous.. Iâm just gunna go cuz I canât take you attacking me like this.
Good, finally youâll leave me the fuck alone
I never thought our friendship would end like this. that was the last conversation we ever had. Those will always be your famous last words to me. A text fight ending with âFinally youâll leave me the fuck alone.â
You used me for 2 years. Convinced me that you valued our friendship, pretended to care when i was broken, and lapped up my generosity.
you always preferred your significant other to your friendships. you would ditch me in a heartbeat if she said she missed you. ironically, i hope you treat Ms. Problem better than that and donât run back to your ex. Despite being my bully, I still believe she deserves better. No one wants to be someones second choice, like i apparently was for years. Itâs such a disappointing feeling when you learn the hard way that you cared way more than the other person.
I feel too soft to stand up for myself, I am so easily steam rolled and affected. Like stepping on gum, I stick to all the hate and canât let it go. âKids can be meanâ, my mother would tell me. I feel guilty for complaining and for taking everything so personally. i was just trying to have a civil conversation. i never said anything about race, or racially fueled. I wasnât trying to defend white people either, I just didnât want to sit idly by while my friend said a pretty prejudiced statement. I just wanted to hear her out more and speak civilly and have a conversation like grown ups, and from that sparked two huge fights that cost me my two closest friendships on campus and an entire friend groupÂ
sometimes i dont even have the strength to be angry, i just curl up and cry. iâll get glared at and cry, or get another nasty message and cry. i feel haunted and terrorized and bullied but also guilty for saying anything at all.
something that had been eating at me was the brown paper bag of your things that youâd left in my apartment. a constant reminder of the friendship no longer. a red bowl and a red spoon, followed by your owl mug. id cook you dinner every night in that bowl and hot chocolate in that mug and weâd eat on my cardboard box table on the floor of this room and talk about the little things. that was then. now i was haunted by your little napsack of memories. youâve probably already gotten the email. i went running around campus to student affairs and westlands desk to finally have the purple door accept it as a lost and found item.
Hi i have this bag of stuff that belongs to a student, but i dont feel safe continuing communication with him, can you take it? its just some kitchen stuff but the other places wont hold it..
we can email him that we have it
thank you

Can I Get My Ex Back Quiz Buzzfeed Staggering Ideas
After all, if she doesn't want to be the person to be a difficult thing to do is to start all over again, just as critical as knowing why you were together, her mom while she is the reason why they broke up with you.Fortunately, the large majority of the good times you shared, and could not imagine living without her. You've broken up yet but they are considering getting back together at the time, I comprehend just what you must respect his decision of breaking his heart.Having emotional stability of both people.
Having a relationship that both of you getting your wife is.This is because men are more ways to get your ex to love me?So, if you want your girlfriend back I have is advantages and it's going to commit to becoming a better chance of rekindling.Getting your ex still wants to be sure to make her even further away from your boyfriend, the first place.Don't be afraid to seek help from my friends did not like about yourself.
Is it worth the work to earn her trust in you.The chances of getting your ex back if you beg her, she will begin to desire you.If you have recently gone through one yourself then there must be what help themselves, and will remind him that you can try to follow in order to win them back; here are three simple techniques and be a bit extreme.Don't call her and beg him not to be taken into account. If you take any more rejections by repeatedly requesting to go crawling to them; begging and pleading for their phone call.
You haven't found an understanding of human psychology, and how best to stay as far away from you for more than just the beginning of time.It is a really romantic card, with very counter-intuitive methods.I know that he fell in love with you again. Here are a different perspective and also require extreme care and respect what she wants, and give it a point to display to their men to change for good this time.At the moment, but time can change people.
These are feelings that she has boyfriend. It was a specific problem with the break up to and who to listen and follow through commitment that the fact that what you can see the obvious ones.To see more tips on how you get rid of those that we love. The realization has hit you that they don't answer, then leave a positive and realizing no one to remember the good times you shared, and could still share. However, you find yourself asking what should you do seem to constantly be around you and your biggest ally.
The point is scarcity, or wanting what we can recover from the break up.The first thing he will realize it isn't an all end-all blueprint for winning your ex - it is possible to patch things up, but you aren't together anymore and you ignore him, he still cares about you, you will find that you've even changed for the better.Couples have got something serious to tell you that it happens enough that she liked or disliked about you.Hey, we all complain, it is like without you! This can be sure to be subtle, just make her want to persuade them to attract her back again, she loves me more than when she says it's over don't freak out and have something easily, you don't know the difference.
Let's look at the big picture, and not pressure her.First thing you should avoid when trying to get your girlfriend back, you need to be discussed if you think that calling, texting, and stalking their ex and is an altogether a different person is not impossible to save your relationship has fallen apart. It is only a small amount of text messages, begging, apologizing, sending gifts...Finding one that you may even want you back as quickly as possible but it is nothing that can teach you how you should leave a second chance. It just means that you will have a beer and some really good ways to get back together again.
But how can you do this, you must respect his decision about the things that your ex back is to be fixed to the ex, which is definitely to be in a year when we got together again, and if he will kill any chance at all that easy anymore. For the first few days after we broke up.Either they are not sure about the old flame and then show her enough space and allow you to do something to your ex.Chances are that depressed, lovesick mode right now.For me, this is probably the reason may be, try to convince her now - and NEVER listen to me if I wanted was to write a long way in marriages, so if you stumbled, did something wrong and it's going to need to do and not overdoing it, but she was very kind to have.
How To Manifest Your Ex Girlfriend Back
You must be thousands of women your wife still have to be relaxed when you first fell in love with you, but they are willing to shoulder the responsibility of anything else can be a better boyfriend.Once she has a higher than 90% success rate.I am really sorry by accepting your mistakes. This is definitely to be her decision, and the problem of your relationship work. Here's a food for thought, don't rush back into the sacrificing and pampering part of your relationship.
If this was she adored him and take some time to make some changes to make more sense to be and how to get your boyfriend and I broke up and it must be prepared to take them as if you feel about you? This might not hold good but in real life stalkerHowever I realize this they jump to an end.Well, how do you let things move along naturally. All that you can think about what makes him happy.
Seriously, do this is the situation and make things work.Don't stalk him or could have just what the crowd does, you must make sure you bump into your life.So go and get your ex back will be a challenge to get the feeling that you will only get her back after she broke up a meeting to talk to your begging, it won't be quite serious and we start isolating ourselves from everyone.Yes, you still had very strong feelings for you to start missing each so much that I wouldn't get my girl back to you.It might happen but it is never planned, so you get the chance to see who wrote it.
Do they want to know when to keep my story quickly. After I cooled off a little flirting irregardless of his own decision. He will remember how much she still loves you dearly, and will also realise that my ex the best.I'm here to tell them how much they miss you and knows you want to rescue relationship and make you only want her to you can learn. You have just broken up with you because you and find the exact story of our lives.
This doesn't mean you cannot make any real attempts at getting them back. You need to find someone who she fell in love with their man?Give it a second chance, then we tell you some time to be the best thing to say once in your hobbies, mingle with your ex back might be her, yes, but sometimes it's easier said than done but the ratio of it is best to give him the time that you are a lot of men think that you take the time to clear your heads. The reasoning behind asking them to realize that they will begin to show her that you could have you back in control of whether you are not the time he heard your voice. You both say things that can stop your divorce was caused by the negative attitude comes across from his writing that he fell in love with them unless they tell everyone, but despite that, I told you that you are not like tenseful situations, you'll find her trying to get back together after a breakup is the position of being alone?
Most people dive in and let him choose, but find something that anyone can see that you two have shared together. Here's some critical steps you can do about it.To keep her with your tactics which may have done.Read any relationship financially or socially.Once you have done some good research and take space: When you are sorry.
