Hazbin Hotel and VivziePop Drama

I've been hearing/seeing a lot of drama concerning Hazbin Hotel and it's creator VivziePop, and while I don't know her personally or really care what people think, I do hate slander and the spread of misinformation. Truly nothing in this world upsets me more than when people believe rumours while making no effort to fact check, and that's exactly what's happening right now. That said, I wanted to try and clear up some of the rumours going around about Vivzie and the show, because I think some of them are absolutely outrageous and need to be addressed.

1. Vivzie hired an abuser onto the show.

Now, I’m not here to burn anyone at the stake, especially since I don’t know anything about Chris Niosi (the alleged abuser), who I believe openly admitted to the allegations? Regardless, this is a moot point. He’s not credited anywhere at the end of the episode. So either he was booted before production wrapped up or he had nothing to do with the show in the first place.

2. Vivzie supports bestiality.

Admittedly I thought this one might be true, since she draws so many anthropomorphic animals. In the very least, I figured she was probably a furry, but I haven't seen any evidence supporting this accusation either. Near as I can tell, this rumour started for two reasons. One, because of her famous Zoophobia comic, which revolves around a therapist named Cameron who gets assigned to work with human-like animals. Ironically, poor Cameron suffers from crippling zoophobia, which makes for some pretty decent comedy. I didn't read the whole comic because, quite frankly, it’s not my cup of tea and I just don’t have the time. But from what I saw there are no examples of bestiality anywhere in its contents.

Two, this message, which blew up all over social media:

To me, this just proves that people are more interested in virtue signalling than checking to see if their claims are actually true. Everything about this message is 100% false, which I’ll touch on in my next point.

3. Vivzie is a pedophile and she’s drawn child porn.

This is hands down the worst allegation and holy shit, I really wish people would stop using it to defame someone when they don't have any proof. This is a life-ruining accusation and you're disgusting if you believe it based solely on hearsay. This rumour began to spread when Vivzie allegedly shipped the two underage characters in the above photo and drew them NSFW-style. At the time, one character was 19 while the other was 14, and the relationship was a very illegal student-teacher relationship.

This is WRONG! The characters were not 14 and 19, they were actually 18 and 19, the legal age of consent! Additionally, the relationship wasn't student-teacher. One character is a student and the other is Alumni (a student teacher). This one pisses me off the most because it’s obvious the person who sent that message didn’t even bother to conduct any research. They said, “He’s a teacher, she’s a child.” Both characters are MALE!

Since then, Vivzie has apologised for any NSFW art she drew in the past and stated that it's not a reflection of her art today, and I'm inclined to believe her. Almost every artist has drawn NSFW content at some point in their career, and hers wasn't even distasteful. Other than this one example, there is no evidence anywhere that suggests she’s drawn “child porn”. In fact, she’s never even drawn explicit NSFW.

Please stop spreading this rumour. It’s dangerous and completely incorrect.

4. Vivzie said the "N" word!

No, she didn’t. It was a fabricated tweet. That is all.

5. Vivzie is copyright striking every video that criticises her!

No she isn't. YouTube’s DMCA is automatically striking people who are using full clips without permission. Vivzie has gone public several times, telling people exactly how to avoid getting a copy strike from the algorithm, which is something she absolutely does not have to do. At this point, she doesn't owe you anything. In my opinion, she should just sit back and watch these channels burn.

6. Vivzie copies and traces other artists’ work.

This is another one I’ve seen going around, but I looked into it as thoroughly as I could and failed to find any concrete evidence to support the allegations. As of right now, there are only two examples of Vivzie “copying” or “tracing” other artists’ work, and both of them can be explained. The first is a gif she made with a character from her Zoophobia comic, which looked a lot like the girl from ME!ME!ME!:

Damn, that’s pretty incriminating. She obviously stole-- oh, wait. This gif was part of a ME!ME!ME! MEP (multi editor’s project) and Vivzie didn’t take full credit, despite the fact that it’s not even a direct trace. It’s supposed to look like the original, which she fully cited. The second example comes from a short dance sequence from her Timber video, which seems to have been inspired by several Disney movies. As Vivzie herself stated, that was an homage to the original animations. Lots of artists and shows do this, including the beloved Stephen Universe series.

Regardless, this doesn’t count as stealing character designs or plagiarising someone’s work. It’s meant to be respectful, an admiration of other projects. Other than these two instances, however, there is no evidence of her tracing or stealing other people’s art. From what I’ve discovered, all other designs she’s been accused of “stealing” are characters she bought and paid for. They’re quite literally HER characters.

7. Vivzie supports problematic creators.

I’m getting really tired of guilt by association. Vivzie follows and enjoys some controversial figures, but who cares? We can argue all day about whether or not the accusations against them are true, but it ultimately has nothing to do with the show or Vivzie as a person. I do the exact same thing, to be honest-- follow and listen to people on all sides so I can learn, understand, and form my own opinions. The fact that some people think this is bad, to me, is absolutely mesmerising. Vivzie doesn’t control what the people she follows post, and if they do something overly questionable she publicly criticises and denounces it.

Now that that’s been dealt with, I’d like to address some complaints/claims about the actual show.

8. Vaggie is an angry Latina stereotype and a lesbian stereotype. Vivzie is appropriating Hispanic culture and misrepresenting the gay for profit.

First off, I see a lot of people passing around yet more misinformation regarding Vivzie's race. So many people seem to think she's white? Well, I'm here to tell you they're wrong. Very incorrect. Vivzie is in fact Latina, and Vaggie is meant to mirror some of her own personality traits.

Second, who is Vaggie mad at? Context matters, and if we take a look at the episode, we see that Vaggie is literally only mad at two specific people: Angel Dust and Alastor. Why? Well, for starters, it's her girlfriend's dream to run a rehab hotel for sinners, and Angel Dust nearly demolishes that dream single-handedly. Vaggie has every right to be over-the-top vitriolic. Then there's Alastor, a known sadist, narcissist, and murderer who loves trapping people in his nefarious schemes. He invites himself in, effectively takes over the hotel, and pushes both her and Charlie aside. At one point he even sexually assaults her by slapping her butt during his musical number. So yeah, I think her seething ire is totally justified. Keep in mind, however, that when she's around Charlie she's calm, collected, and happy. I wouldn't call that a stereotype.

Thirdly, the lesbian stereotypes. I keep hearing this argument but I really don't see it. Both Vaggie and Charlie have so much personality and trust for each other. Maybe I'm wrong, but the stereotype I know always totes a more butch, tomboyish woman with a ditsy, innocent, naive woman. Charlie is optimistic, but she isn't stupid. She refuses to shake Alastor’s hand because she knows he’s likely trying to screw her over. She’s also not entirely innocent herself and uses words like “fuck” and “shit”. I also wouldn’t call Vaggie butch or tomboyish. She has a cute, girly presentation, complete with a pink ribbon in her hair, lace stockings, and a dress. She's protective of her girlfriend, as I think we all are with our partners, and there's nothing wrong with that. They're flawed characters, as every character is meant to be. This isn't a problem.

9. The show is racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, blah, blah, blah.

I’m amazed this is even an argument. The show is supposed to be a dark comedy that takes place in HELL. You know, the place the worst of the worst end up after they die? What were you expecting? Everyone gets a shot or two fired at them, but that doesn't make them bad characters nor does it make the show itself horrible. Take, for example, Katie Killjoy, the news reporter so many people are up in arms about. She says she doesn’t “touch the gays” because she has “standards”. Well, here’s a newsflash of my own: we’re not supposed to like her! She’s an antagonist. Not to mention ten seconds later Charlie insults her and isn’t the least bit slighted by her pretentious attitude. The characters are strong and don’t take shit from anyone, because to some degree they’re all terrible people who can throw down when it’s called for.

Obviously if you don’t like the show or think it’s offensive, I’m probably not going to change your mind. That’s perfectly fine. You’re entitled to your opinions and you don’t have to watch the show. Just stop lying and stop trying to take it away from everybody else. Stop attacking Vivzie and spreading misinformation without checking the facts. I realise a lot of people probably aren’t trying to be vindictive and only want to do something good, but just remember this: the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

The PR team returns to London to continue their ‘dark arts’ of deception on madams behalf. They are preaching to the wrong crowd. There is no amount of PR that could change things. Return to London and interacting with the press was going to be tough back home. But now, l have no clue what’s going to happen. Reunions with the BRF, l have no words. Busy schedule for both of them during this holiday. I was hoping Harry could get into talks with Angolan government officials regarding becoming a Commonwealth member, that was the goal, his first attempt at a diplomatic mission. Pressed, ironing, l know this isn’t it, but gracious both of their clothes have been a mess. Wrinkled, ratty, those brown suede lace ups, Harry please toss them, please! Harry was part of National Geographic and was laying on the ground in Malawi, taking the most amazing uplook photos near and of a Baobab tree. He looked in his element, out in nature, enjoying its beauty and taking photographs for his contributions to a joint project with Nat Geo.

I saw Harry today, in the still photos it was evident, but in the video, l KNOW WHAT HES FEELING BECAUSE I HAVE LIVED IT FOR 12 YEARS, AND LAST WEEK YOU ALL KNOW WHAT L WAS SUFFERING! Something has happened, he has either worked out his anger physically to such a point he’s torn a muscle or he has a slipped disc. The pain, as he stepped up to the podium, this time, him holding onto her, and his involuntary wincing, and trying to cover it up, L KNOW THAT PAIN. Please, PLEASE GET HIM HOME, BETWEEN, his mood, his wasting away, and now this, for goodness sake he needs being seen urgently, an MRI, and REST!! I am certain he has either been given an injectable for pain along with oral meds. Oh Harry, we are slowly watching you falling apart in every way. There is an old song, Tears of a Clown, think this is play on that. However, Crown, capitalized, is like the Royal We, it refers specifically to the reigning Monarch. Imagine HMTQ tears, yesterday especially, and today seeing him in pain. She has ruled for decades and decades. Fearing the blowback of the MOS revealing what all they have kept schtum on all this time. I don’t think she thought through the ramifications of what she has done by filing suit. But, then again, thinking has never been her forté nor her job, her backers did and continue to do all the thinking, planning and ordering her actions.

This is a crazy clue because the only time l saw Harry happy, like for real happy, in the last two plus years, was the day he attended the Anzac Day service with Catherine. Now, within the last hour, word has been announced that he has filed lawsuits against The Sun and The Mirror and the owners for hacking his phone. This is way more serious that madams issue. There would, if in fact this happened, would have required very skilled intelligence people because of his status l a certain his mobile is very very secured OR IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN!! I cannot fathom what would make him happy, unless her begging is for a divorce and leaving , or just plain leaving. The only rabbit l can pull out of this hat, is that his mission is complete now that the SA and other African country visits are complete. He can now heal and resume some semblance of a life! I hope and pray l am correct!

Diversion, is a distraction, SMALL in all caps, that’s done to elevate that word. So what is the diversion and who is using and needing it? All roads lead to Rome , but in this case all roads lead to madam. She thought her lawsuit was the cats meow, she must have been thunderstruck, sorry AC/DC reference..see l am learning from MM ANON😁! But she must have been thunderstruck to learn Harry had filed suit a week ago bit more now, against hacking. Her proverbial goose is really cooked, as l have no doubt hacking was used to gather intel on him, William Catherine any of them, this plot has been in the planning for years! So one wonders at what this means, is this a typo, or did l get it wrong? Nevertheless, the meaning and interpretation is the same.Those who were already sceptical took this as a major clue from Harry. The bulk of people thought he was just being silly. The line he said before that was something like Oh, you’re pregnant?? So we know it’s not Harry’s child, they were never intimate post wedding, grounds for annulment! MM ANON clue is telling us that we are going to shortly find this out, ok shortly is my wish but it’s all going to come out. If madam does a runner to the U.S. won’t that be interesting. She has no idea what her backers are really capable of, she should be afraid very afraid of who she’s tethered to and how much information she knows!

Poor archficial, all alone, outlived his usefulness. But madam is home alone or not depending whose sofa she’s sleeping on or staying with. Harry is back to Not Cot with his dog, l am sure his dog will give him a royal welcoming. Those of you who have dogs know how therapeutic they can be.

There are many, including sugars who would delight with glee if something untoward would occur. Security will be very very very tight, the outlay of the tour states it will be their most complex tour yet. The itinerary will be kept close at the best as to where they are visiting specifically etc etc, it will be a pure military and RPO nightmare to keep them safe. They , on the other hand will represent HMTQ with aplomb, they will be relaxed or appear so and l foresee thus being a hugely successful Royal tour. We must pray for all involved!🙏🏻

I think the most important thing is, talk about how he is appearing, depressed, thin, stressed and in agony with his back. The ultimate fall, for her, is coming. She will tumble lower than low once the dossier on her is in the public realm and the alleged video!! I am waiting with bated breath for the MOS tomorrow!!

So Who Killed Lilly Kane?

So since we’re up to the season finale and I can’t imagine them dragging them dragging this story out for another season, I can only assume that Lilly’s killer will be revealed in the next episode. With that in mind, I’m going to review the potential suspects and see if I can’t work out whodunit ahead of the official reveal.

1. Jake Kane - The narrative has been pointing the finger at Jake more-or-less all season long. Although it was revealed a few episodes ago that Keith never actually accused Jake of killing Lilly, only that he was complicit somehow. It seems, through the payoff to Amelia for Abel’s confession, that Jake and/or The Kane Family is involved at least to that level.

But could Jake actually be the killer? 

I don’t think so. There’s been very little depicted to support the idea that Jake Kane is capable of killing anyone, let alone his daughter. While Celeste very obviously played favorites with her children, there’s nothing to suggest that Jake did this. We don’t really know what Jake and Lilly’s relationship was like, but if it was bad, you’d think that kind of thing would come up. Most of Lilly’s animosity seemed to be directed at Celeste. The only thing we ever see of Jake and Lilly is Veronica’s mental scenario and that’s obviously colored by Veronica’s perceptions of him, which don’t seem to be particularly accurate.

We’ve never seen him react violently towards anyone. We’ve only ever seen him get angry once when he found out about the threatening photos sent to Leanne. Even then, Celeste seemed surprised at his manhandling her, as though this was atypical behavior for him. Therefore, the odds of it being a heat-of-anger accident, as depicted in Veronica’s scenario seem slim as well.

And, of course, we can’t discount the tropes of storytelling. As I’ve said, Jake’s been suspect number one since the show started and the hero can’t be right from the outset or there’s no mystery to be solved. This isn’t a procedural show about rooting out the evidence to build a case, it’s a mystery.

Conclusion: Jake didn’t do it.

2. Duncan Kane – He’s the opposite of his father in a lot of ways. He does get angry. He does lash out impulsively, often violently. According to Logan, he once tried to choke his father to death. None of these things are conscious actions on his part, of course. He has a type of epilepsy that causes him to have severe mood swings, for which he inconsistently takes medication to treat his symptoms. He also can’t remember the day Lilly was killed or the two days after. Jake’s falsified account of the events of that day put Duncan getting home after Lilly and before Jake and Celeste, whether this part of the timeline is accurate in light of later revelations is unknown. Circumstantial evidence points to Duncan’s soccer uniform potentially having had physical evidence washed away.

So did Duncan do it?

He’s kind of too perfect a suspect, honestly. They’ve set him up as the guilty party too well. His sudden, uncontrollable, violent episodes, his blackout(s), the fact that he fled the country, if he does turn out to be guilty, then I think the reveal will feel rather anti-climactic.

On the other hand, his guilt is the most sensible explanation for why The Kanes would be willing to cover up the truth about her murder. He’s obviously Celeste’s Golden Boy and Jake certainly has big dreams about what his son can accomplish. It makes sense that they would go to extraordinary lengths to keep him out of jail or a mental health facility.

Meta-textually, I really, really hope that the resolution to this well-crafted mystery isn’t “The Crazy Guy Did It”.

Conclusion: Duncan probably didn’t do it.

3. Abel Koontz – The guy currently in prison for Lilly’s murder. A guy who has every reason to hate Jake Kane and perhaps the entire Kane Family. A guy who, from what little we’ve seen him, certainly gives off vibes of creepy and dangerous.

So did Abel do it?

The first point against him is obviously that he was paid by the Kane Family to confess, but just because he was given a payoff it doesn’t necessarily follow that his confession is false. 

Consider for a moment: Abel Koontz finds out that he has terminal stomach cancer and wants to hurt Jake Kane on his way off this mortal coil. He’s too sick to try to go after Duncan who’s an athlete and can likely defend himself, so Lilly is his target. He waits until she’s home alone, sneaks in, and bashes her skull in. The Kanes somehow know that Abel did it, but either they lack evidence, the evidence they have is tainted and inadmissible in court, or the evidence is somehow incriminating towards one or more of the Kanes (perhaps regarding Jake’s alleged theft of the streaming video patent). Clarence Wiedman plants the shoes on Abel’s houseboat and then calls in the anonymous tip to get him arrested, in essence, framing the guilty party. To avoid the turmoil of a long, drawn-out trial (which may not even happen considering Abel’s medical condition) and all the potential public embarrassment that entails, they essentially bribe him into confessing to close the books on Lilly’s murder once and for all so that they can move on.

On the other hand, Keith has apparently found Abel’s alibi. The thing there is Keith has been said to have been looking for her for more than a year. Presumably, he’s been looking for her since Abel first confessed, long before Keith knew that Lilly’s official time of death was off by several hours. Was Abel meant to have been with this escort for most of the day? How does a man dying of stomach cancer afford that? Could Keith’s determination to bring the truth to light inadvertently free the guilty party?

That would be a hell of a twist, wouldn’t it?

The very obvious downside is that it would make Sheriff Shithead right and even thinking something like that makes my soul want to barf. Furthermore, it would make most of this season’s investigation pointless, and I can’t imagine they would do that.

Conclusion: A fun thought experiment, but unlikely.

4. Aaron Echolls – Let us count the ways in which Aaron has the potential to be a suspect. Firstly, he’s an extremely violent person who thinks nothing of beating someone within an inch of his life and then turning on a dime to ask his son how his day was. He’s an entitled ego-maniac who has little regard for anyone outside of what they can do for him, personally. He’s a serial adulterer who I would have little to no problem thinking would sleep with his son’s very attractive girlfriend if given half a chance.

So did Aaron do it?

I cannot, for the life of me, come up with a reason that the Kanes would cover for him. They have more money than him. They are beloved in Neptune. They are essentially the economic backbone of the community. A ton of people in Neptune owe their wealth and their employment to Kane Software. I can’t imagine that Aaron would come out looking like the good guy in that situation, especially once it came to light that he’s a philanderer, which a criminal investigation would almost certainly turn up.

(And that sort of becomes the counterpoint for a lot of people. With the wrong time of death, a lot of people’s alibis are either gone or suddenly in question. Did Logan do it, maybe, but why would the Kanes cover for him? What about Weevil? There’s no way in the world that they would cover for him.)

Conclusion: Aaron’s certainly got the temperament to kill someone and just walk away like nothing happened, but I can’t explain how he’s gotten away with it for so long. So, maybe?

5. Celeste Kane – A Society Woman who cares very much about image, who has a very contentious relationship with her daughter. A daughter who seems hell-bent to make her mother hate her as much as possible, whether this is cause or effect of the nature of their relationship is unclear, but also quite likely irrelevant.

Did Celeste do it?

Well, from a storytelling perspective, she’s the only one with a close enough connection to the situation that no one has looked at in any depth.

Within the story itself, she’s the other person that would make the most sense for them to go to the lengths they have to cover things up. If Jake Kane’s wife was suddenly revealed to have killed her own daughter (even if it was an accident or a heat-of-passion thing), do you know what would happen to stock market trading on shares of Kane Software? You’re talking about economic ruin for them, huge financial hits for most of their friends, which would mean social ruin.

Could she do it? Hard to say. We don’t really know that much about Celeste as an individual, about her capacity for anger and violence. Her capacity for hostility is not in doubt, though. I don’t really have much trouble seeing Lilly and Celeste in yet another argument, this time one of them puts their hands on the other, somebody pushes someone, Lilly either gets pushed over or falls over and hits her head on something and she’s dead before she hits the ground.

Conclusion: If I had to guess… and it would only just be a guess… I’d say Celeste is your most likely culprit.
