I learned a couple of weeks ago that the greek "stizo" (mark, tattoo) and english "stick" have some shared proto indo european root. haunted by this because it means that "stigmata" and "stick and poke" are on some level cognates

trying to articulate how i feel about the jose barreiro "inside every m//stizo there is either one dead indian or an indian waiting to re-emerge" quote bc. of course him belonging to the taínos that have like. very limited remnants. yes i understand the encouragement of mixed race dominicans and puerto ricans etc to connect with their more distant history since it was forcibly removed from them but at the same time. for one thing why is the emphasis on m//stizos. there are afro-indigenous ppl. actually most dominicans of indigenous descent are more black than white. and with that it feels more like.... absolving white caribbeans w/ indigenous ancestry of their whiteness. yk. and for a lot of them they have much more personal connection to the colonizer than the colonized and its like. who has the right to id with the oppressed. maybe they do maybe they dont idk

OBSERVATOR Constanta : De la curăţenie, la recepţie, „băieţii deştepţi“ de pe platforma nucleară fac de toate

Înfiinţate imediat după 1990, mai multe firme din Cernavodă prosperă datorită Centralei Nuclearelectrice, care preferă pateneri externi pentru mai multe lucrări şi servicii.

De pildă, de câţiva ani, contractele de curăţenie, reparaţii, întreţinere şi administrare a locuinţelor care se află în proprietatea Nuclearelectrica sunt adjudecate de către firma Unify Co Ltd SRL din Cernavodă. Ultima procedură finalizată de SNN în acest sens nu a produs nicio surpriză, aceeaşi Unify Co Ltd fiind câştigătoarea unui contract pentru servicii de recepţie pentru spaţiile de cazare aşe CNe Cernavodă şi servicii suport. Dacă la lansarea procedurii, anul trecut, în luna noiembrie, SNN estima o valoare de 722.161 lei pentru acest contract, unicul ofertant a propus suma de 720.535,06 lei, aceasta fiind şi valoarea finală. Din suma respectivă, titularul contractului va putea subcontracta servicii în valoare de 366.323,08 lei, adică aproximativ jumătate din prestaţii. Contractul are o valabilitate de 24 de luni. Unify Co Ltd a mai câştigat licitaţii organizate de Nuclearelectrica, fie particiând singură, fie în asociere cu alte societăţi abonate la banii nuclearei. De pildă, în 2008 a luat naştere Asociaţia Nuclear Serv, un parteneriat între Elcomex I.E.A., General Concrete, Nimb Consmetal, Stizo Nuclear şi Unify Co Ltd, cei mai importanţi subcontractori locali ai centralei nucleare. După aceea, asocierea a câştigat aproape toate contractele de servicii de întreţinere şi mentenanţă de pe platforma nucleară, sume de ordinul sutelor de milioane de lei. În ceea ce priveşte participările la licitaţiile în care participă singură sau ca lider de asociere, Unify Co Ltd are experienţă în special în prestarea serviciilor de curăţenie. Anul trecut, în luna aprilie, de pildă, a câştigat un contract pe şase luni, cu valoarea de peste 425.000 lei. Unify Co Ltd are un singur asociat, care este şi administrator, Călin Şerban. Potrivit informaţiilor publicate pe portalul Ministerului de Finanţe, societatea, al cărei obiect pricnipal de activitate îl reprezintă lucrările de pardosire şi placare a pereţilor, are 220 de angajaţi, iar în 2015 – ultimul an pentru care există informaţii fiscale – a avut o cifră de afaceri de 15.613.759 lei şi a declarat profit brut de 574.529 lei.
