Just realized that I lost track of time and didn't have a birthday present for N. Some emergency Etsy searching netted me this cute pattern based in That Moment from Our Flag Means Death. I about died when I saw it, it's so perfect.
So, let's see how fast I can get this stitched as his bday is Fri and I leave Sun for my Mom's.
(Pattern is by Nevelpanter. You can see the final, full color version by clicking on the link. Note: I would say this is for intermediate level stitchers. Though it does use some of the simpler stitches, there's very little instruction and there's some stuff you're going to just have to eyeball.)

Little bit by little bit we're getting there.
Honestly, I just don't enjoy the satin stitch that much and I'm not very practiced with it, so it's taking me ages to get anyway.
Also, I bought a new stitching "hoop" that's not a hoop. I was constantly having to move the hoop and it was messing with some of my stitches (see neck and chest) so I decided to try something else.
This is something called a scroll frame and it sounds like what it is: you wrap the fabric between two bars and stretch it out that way. (If anyone wants a pic, let me know.)
I'm not sure if it's something I'll use for all my stitching. It's very bulky and I can feel an ache between my shoulder blades which means that I was holding the frame in a weird way for at least a bit. The weight of it isn't a problem the way I thought it might be because I prop it up on chest and my leg and that takes a lot of the weight.

Finished my embroidery! (Okay, finished it a while ago and kept forgetting to post pics.)
I'm trying to find a frame that looks like something you might fight around an old lady's "god grant me the serenity" embroidery but so far no luck.

I finished my last embroidery project (I'll post pics when I get it framed) so I've been working on this one: an amazing embroidery of Catherine from The Great. (There's also a version where she's holding a cup instead of flipping the viewer off but I'm me, so of course I preferred the "fuck you" version.)

Desk finished! This is technically a barbie desk but since Mars doesn't play with barbies I guess it'll be whatever she wants desk.
I basically just made it because I was itching to do something with my hands, my embroidery was pissing me off, and I had everything on hand to make this. So here it is!

24ish hours later I've almost got Ed's foot done. I would have had more but the instructions on this are very vague and I've had to go back and tweak a few things to get it looking right.
I would probably have more done but this fabric can be very hard to pull the needle through. So the pads of my thumb and pointer finger can only go for so long before I have to stop.
Anyway, if I keep going at this rate, I feel confident I can have this done by Sat.

48 hours in and I'm having some difficulty. I'm supposed to have a slightly darker teal to add shading to the coat but they only had a much darker teal. Almost everything in this pattern is stitched using three strands so I've taken two of the lighter teal and one strand of the darker teal and it seems to be working okay? I don't love it but there's only so much I can do since I can't go to a third store to look for a better color.

4+ days and I'd probably be already done if I hadn't hated what the coat was looking like and bought more floss to redo it. (This pic I posted before this one makes the coat look a lot nicer than it did in real life.) So had to take all those stitches out, which sounds easy and fast but really isn't. This is also why there was no update pic yesterday. It would have been an absolute mess.
Anyway, all I have left is to outline which is more time consuming than I thought it would be. However, I don't think I'll have a problem finishing this tonight.
