I know I said I was going to put the Deltarune stuff on hold for a while, but...

There's something crazy I just discovered due to one of the many theories I heard on YouTube and it got me thinking a lot.

Do you remember the last tape from the true lab in Undertale?

In this last one there are some abnormal things like the sound in the background, and it’s not possible that Asriel could have made this recording, not when his best friend was dying. This brings us to something creepy, since the only place where this type of recording could have been made it’s inside a laboratory, with cameras in different positions.

What I'm getting at is:

Gaster was probably there when this event happened, as he was the owner of the lab back then. It’s likely the Dreemurr family brought Chara to the true lab because they were hoping Gaster could do something to heal them, since they didn't know much about humans. Chara was Gaster's first human patient, and Gaster already knew about the brothers plan, because he watched the secret tapes they left during his research.

During that time, Gaster could have talked with Chara about this and proposed a deal, something like:

“Give me information about your kind and samples of your body and soul for my experiments, in exchange of speeding your plan by making your death faster with my stuff”

Chara saw this was the best thing, so they accepted, not knowing the kind of darkness that would be unleashed later. In the end, the tragedy of Asriel and Chara happened, Gaster didn’t stop them, some human kids fell and he continued experimenting in secret, behind the kings' backs. Things continued like this, until Gaster’s curiosity and obsession got out of hand and fell into his creation, breaking into thousands of pieces throughout space and time.

Now, we don't know at what point Gaster realized his entire world was part of a game, but he most likely did some datamining and watched Flowey's numerous playthroughs to figure it out. This pretty much destroyed him in many ways, I don't know to what extent, but something tells me what he was before died there a long time ago. All that's left in him is madness, and now the players are taking part in probably his last experiment, one with an uncertain ending and purpose.

Another thing I want to point out is: Gaster seems to target pacifist/mischievous/vulnerable subjects to make deals and promises with, then he grants them powers and in some cases shows them the truth. This leads to some of them becoming mad and causing havoc.

Now I’ll proceed to mention all the subjects that are known so far:

The confirmed ones: Player – Jevil – Spamton – The next secret bosses.

Unsure/ Probably are: Kris – Ralsei – Sans (Undertale) – Papyrus (Undertale)

Probably the next: Susie – Noelle

It seems we’re involved in something very dark, a situation beyond the player's control, but there's still hope. Whatever Kris and Ralsei are planning together in secret may be the key to solve this (that is if you continue along the normal-pacifist route).

This is all just theory, but let's see what the future holds for us.

Please tell me about the deltarune pokemon au. I wanna know about the teams

apologies this took me a bit to put together, i have had a Night LOL

this started as just a thing i like to do for a lot of fandoms where i make a handful of pokemon teams for characters, but it’s kind of expanded into its own concept in my head now X) i’ve been watching a lot of pchal’s videos lately and so my image for a full project with this au would likely be a romhack but i doubt it’ll ever actually get made lmao 

basically, you play as kris still in it. they’re beginning their journey as a pokemon trainer a couple years after their brother asriel left on his own. almost all of their party will depend on what the player catches, but they have a starter honedge (can fully evolve it) that you cannot remove from the party. honedge is a fun choice to me because it doubles as both the knife they have in the light world and their weapon being a sword in the dark world.

susie, ralsei, noelle, and berdly are rivals. the latter two are more of the professors assistant (professor is alphys probably) type rivals, though- berdly in particular would focus on filling up his pokédex and would brag about all the pokemon he’s caught. susie is your traditional asshole rival and ralsei your friendly one. the idea i have for noelle is that she is like… a walking glitch cause, lmao. i always loved watching pokemon glitch compilations when i was little and think its a really fun idea for her. it could start with small things- like, a scene in the school where the curtains turn black when she enters and go back to normal when she leaves, up until she starts getting some REALLY weird shit like the bad egg in her party. unsure what exactly the climax would be for that but i think it’ll be really fun to mess with haha

i think that each chapters main boss would be leaders of their own evil team. i could see it like… king leader of team spade and queen leader of team cyber, maybe? rouxls could be a team spade admin (and maybe lancer i initially didn’t think of that but the idea of there being a like 8 year old as an evil team admin makes me lose it) and swatch & tasque manager as team cyber admins.  unfortunately being rouxls brained means i’ve thought quite a bit for him in this au lmao, i think it’d be funny if he was a former member of basically every evil team imaginable but just kept getting kicked out for being incompetent 😭

as for the teams, i currently have

kris with their starter honedge

susie with a final team of hydreigon, hydrapple, druddigon, tyrantrum, scrafty, and toxtricity. all funny lizards, lol. in particular, hydreigon was chosen for a few reasons- one, i’m biased because the deino line is one of my favorites, but also because the progression of deino and zweilous having their eyes covered, the whole ravenously hungry thing, and all that fit susie very well imo. hydrapple was also chosen specifically because of the whole apple thing she has with kris.

ralsei has an umbreon, absol, altaria, cacturne, comfey, and zoroark. i initially wanted to give him a mono dark team but felt altaria and comfey fit him better than my previous picks. umbreon is a cute dark type with a fluffy prevo, absol is a fluffy dark type and i feel that its whole omen of disaster thing fits nicely with ralsei delivering the prophecy, altaria is fluffy + the whole soothing song thing fits well with ralsei’s pacify spell, cacturne looks like his hat lol, comfey is a healer and has the flowers thing like that one fuckass fangamer shirt i think about constantly, and zoroark is fluffy and ralsei himself has his whole mimicry thing going on.

noelle has an alolan ninetales, sawsbuck winter form, venusaur, azumarill, kabutops, and mew. alolan ninetales was chosen because she needs at least one ice type lmao, sawsbuck because Winter Deer, venusaur because a lot of glitch Pokémon will default to using bulbasaur’s sprite due to it being first in the dex, azumarill both because of the transgender marill glitch and the pikablu rumors pre gsc, and kabutops because one of the sprites that missingno can use in gen 1 is a fossil resembling it, and mew because Mew Under The Truck. i really want her team to be mostly themed around glitch/playground runor stuff but i'm a bit worried that these picks aren’t that recognizable/don’t make as much sense for her because of that 😅

rouxls has a leavanny, vivillon (polar), frosmoth, larvesta, dunsparce, and orthworm. leavanny has the Sewing/Caretaker thing as well as being an early bug evo, vivillon polar form in particular looks like him and is an early bug (easy to get), frosmoth is shiny and is a friendship evo meaning it doesn’t take much effort to evolve, larvesta is little worm, dunsparce is worm adjacent and has the whole “useless silly thing” going on as well, and orthworm is big silly worm. i tried to only chose evolutions that wouldn’t require a lot of effort, which is why larvesta and dunsparce are both unevolved. additionally, i didn’t actually realize this til i was sharing the team with gummy and it pointed it out, but he has a couple friendship evos, which is just always fun when evil team members have those lol.

lancer has a gastly, spheal, voltorb, gible, galarian darumaka, and munchlax. silly and round….

the rest i don’t have full teams for yet, but have some sort of idea for

i want king to have a mono dark team, particularly of more imposing pokemon. i currently have him down with a pangoro, obstagoon, and tyranitar. i really want to give him a guzzlord but im unsure how to be able to justify him having an ultra beast in universe haha. maybe the fountains could be like ultra wormholes and each main boss could have one?

queen has an electivire because. wires lol. and also a tsareena because queen pokemon + kick attack + i like it a lot that’s always been one of my favs lol

swatch has a smeargle, staraptor, porygon 2, indeedee, and spritzee (thank you jay for helping me with the last one lol). i still feel like im struggling a bit to find a real direction for their team though :p

i think it would be funny if tasque manager had a team full of luxray but im unsure how much im willing to commit to it lol

in theory i want berdly to be a bird trainer, but he could also fit well with other pokemon like alakazam for his smart boy gimmick. unsure what direction to go for him as well

ah, also! i think it would be very funny if jevil, spamton, and any other secret bosses had their own weird mechanics for fights, but im unsure exactly what. my first thought was jevil’s fight locking you into hardcore nuzlocke rules and spamton trying to steal your pokemon throughout the fight but the first feels a bit too morbid and the second im unsure how that would actually work so XD will probably go for something different there lol. also reminds me, i think it would be fun for the shopkeepers to still be shopkeepers, and each sell different items like tms or held items used for competitive play!

i've made a lot of deltarune aus lol but the ones i post about a lot are triscript, my lightner ralsei au and soap seam au!!!!!!!!! ^_^ i like making aus because i like putting characters in silly outfits. i made triscript because i wanted to try and make a deltaswap-style thing, lightner ralsei because i wanted an excuse to draw susie and ralsei being siblings and soap seam just popped into my brain one day. WOOHOO!!!

i also have a few deltarune ocs but i don't post about them that much... except for tenna because she's fun to draw xD

I really like your AU! It's very fun and now I kind of want to expand on a little AU concept pretty similar to yours! Things are a bit confusing for this AU... but still, very good! I probably just need to look at more stuff, and look closer

Feel free to expand on the universe! I always take suggestions since this is currently a concept!

I don't actually have any "defined" story line as of now (at least until chapters 3-5 come out and I can hopefully get some people to help make this au into an actual game, or if not that, then a comic), but I can clear up some of the confusion you have!:

Like I said in the summary (pinned post), this is Deltarune in hard mode, it's not as forgiving or nice both in story and gameplay as the og game. Secret bosses don't exist (which I said in this post), but that doesn't mean there aren't major changes to the game (though I didn't change too much to the point that this doesn't feel like Deltarune anymore)

The world Neglected Oversight is set in isn't hometown, but instead homecity (as implied by this post). Meaning there are more opportunities and places where you don't normally have access to in the original game. Including castle town (which is called castle city). But I don't want to get into that yet, so I'll go into the characters right now:

Kris is more reserved and keeps to themselves, but they're especially not as forgiving as Kris is in the og game. ESPECIALLY when it comes to Susie. They're not aggressive-aggressive, but they're aggressive to the point they're merciless. Basically, both Susie and Kris have a like-hate friendship. After the events of chapter 1, they're both "okay", but Susie being Susie, she's a bully and is incredibly stubborn when it comes to what she thinks is right. She's also more aggressive and unwilling to try to better herself, meaning she's practically brutal when in and out of battle (each chapter will have her grow as a character, since people don't change that easily). And while with Ralsei, or more known as Serial in this au, he doesn't help, like, at all. He's practically useless.

Getting into the weird route because this is getting long: it's still kind of the same as the og game, but instead of us, the player, manipulating Noelle, we're instead forcing Berdly to kill and using Noelle as a victim. Any acts in the game that seems like the enemy attacked you (ex. Pushing Noelle, screaming that you're hurt, taking small damage), will have Berdly defending you and Noelle, and if pushed too far, ultimatly will have Berdly kill someone.

I explain more about what happens and stuff in the concepts.

But I hope this at least cleared some stuff up!

so, deltarune community, i introduce to you, a half-assed 3AM rant about kris and ralsei.

while i still cannot pass out i figured out what bothers me about the way theyre presented and why platonic kralsei is such a craving that has no material in the fandom to work with whatsoever

we know the susie relationships. everyone cherishes kris and susies friendship. id say it comes first if anything. people vaguely appreciate her and ralsei as well - we had plenty of hangout opportunities for the two, there are even two or three comics about ralsei and his beef with her. friendship content. dynamic exploring

kris and ralsei presentation however includes but is not limited to: dry interaction (choose your flavour: kris/kris as player projection aka the thing everyone did with ch1 ralsei cutesy content), dry interaction 2.0 aka The Sillies/ralsei as sole background commenter in goofyass situations/the normal dude (may or may not include in-game shit), kris' resentment of ralsei (at least theyre getting creative), and finally mushy romantic couple shit and sugarcoating tropes

vc: and you could excuse that with a "oh, well but we dont know anything about ralseis backstory" yet we hardly know anything about susies either. we only theorise of her past related to adoption, being homeless, insert other determinators based material. we factually know very little of her, yet susie has established friendships with both kris and ralsei, even well-written fan content with noelle that is not limited by surface romance but rather the exploration of their dynamic, friends first, partners - second.

as in for either of them being morally gray? susie has no problems with that and i love her, we love her, the_newest_girl sweepstakes log hasnt changed anything. i do have a theory on how that could affect ralsei, though. might contemplate on that.

so susie has all that. kris, their nature still unknown to most, but overall sympathetic with a shade of gray morality (HEEEELLL YEAAA) has the similar spectrum. kris has all that.

with them and ralsei though? its like. not a single plate of them as a dynamic. as actual friends

and honestly its no wonder kralsei is getting rejected from lightner ship/old darkner ship communities

we present no base. no fundamental understanding or interpretation of them

...though i wish id browse through deltarune tag more legitimately and take samples every time i see kris and ralsei on-screen to have a list of categories for each interaction to sort them like legos by shapes and colours.

there was one.ONE comic of them that kept the hopes up. this is why kralsei is stayin alive. that, and tunas scarf thingy. our icon (shhhh hes seepy)

i, uh, dont have a conclusion. i remember writing it because i wish we actually came up with who they are. wish that even they had conflicts and resolutions, similarities and differences, like any other dynamic in the fanon, having multiple headcanons and interpretations.

i just wish we gave them a chance to be friends.

(I am also aware that college Friskriel may carry more novelty for me, who normally thinks of flowey and frisk in their pre-teen and early teen stages, than you who made two whole fanfics with them as older teens and young adults)

who are Frisk's parents/guardians here? are they currently happy with their family situation?

how (and when) did they meet? (since Az's coming back for Christmas (it's probs autumn right now cause orange leaves) for the first time since leaving, that means he's spent one term at college so far)

It's absolutely fine, no need to apologize, I'm honestly kind of impressed? If AU surveys exist, I would classify this as one!

I have one issue that I'm very guilty of, I have only played chapter 1 of Deltarune, once, and right after it was released, I was in the middle of writing the Growing Pains series when both chapters came out and I was concerned it would throw off my focus, and many other silly reasons, so, I never got into Deltarune- BUT, I am interested in some of the characters.

(I also don't ship Asriel/Flowey with anyone else but Frisk (I've gotten too comfortable with my own AU's and my brain just won't let me think of him being with anyone else at this point, I think it's broken, lol) so I have no idea what Dessriel is.)

Because I still like the idea of the AU, and because Growing Pains 2 had a short college arc, I already have something I can work with, I'm happy to say I can answer a good chunk of your questions.

I'll start simple!

Asriel is studying to become a doctor, but really wants to be an astronomer, he goes to a co-ed college, his roommate ends up being a three eyed, purple slime monster named Grreth (but prefers to go by J.J.) (if you've read Growing Pains 2, you already know who he is, I just couldn't help but add him in because him and Flowey becomes such good friends :p)

Frisk is also studying to become a doctor, they really love to help people, but quickly discover that it's a bit difficult for them and they're considering leaving to switch to something more art-based, maybe they'll become an art teacher instead? But after meeting Asriel and discovering that he's actually their dorm neighbor, and are guilt-tripped by their aunt, they decide to stick to it.

They have a roommate who's a human, who's name is Alice, Frisk has a crush on her at first- until Alice reveals that she's already dating someone and then is rarely seen much after that due to becoming busy with classes and other things, leaving Frisk to have the dorm room all to themselves, it's pretty lonely until they become good friends with both Asriel and J.J.

My Frisk's story is that they're nonbinary (AFAB), Filipino, and lost their parents in a car accident at the age of nine, so they were raised by their aunt (Ligaya) and cousin (Andres) (who is like an older brother to them).

Fortunately, their family is okay with monsters, but kind of clueless about them due to the fact that they live in an all-human neighborhood, so when Frisk goes to college and meets Asriel and all these other monsters, they're very starstruck and amazed, and by the looks of it, Kris seems to be the only human Asriel knows, so he's also starstruck and amazed by Frisk as well, they hit things off very fast.

Frisk's family isn't as well off as Asriel's is, so they work two jobs to help pay off their college debt; one at an adorable bakery (which Asriel comes by often as an excuse to see them, usually bringing J.J. along at first and then later, alone) Frisk's second job is at the college's library, which, Asriel also loves to visit them at, they steal loving glances at each other while he's trying to study.

After they start dating, Asriel starts stressing out because he runs out of allowance money because he keeps wanting to buy Frisk's gifts and take them to nice places on their dates, so he takes up a job as a florist, and because both of his parents are gardeners and he has an eye for making things look good-he's ends up being very good at his job.

Because Frisk's family is cool with monsters in my AU, I can't see any reason why they would keep the relationship secret... although, they'd probably be apprehensive about voicing the relationship or showing any PDA in the beginning because there are groups on both sides that very highly disapprove/hate monster/human relationships, and Asriel and Frisk don't want either to get hurt.

-Fun stuff!-

Asriel admits his feelings first by writing a love letter and sticking it under Frisk's dorm room door, they get it immediately and write him one back and stick it under his door, he then urgently runs out of his dorm to theirs and they practically tackle each other with an embrace, a week after that they have their first kiss.

After getting deeper into their romantic relationship, Frisk thinks Asriel is gorgeous and likes to jokingly flirt about practicing their art by drawing/painting him in the nude (insert Titanic joke here), he always blushes and laughs and the moment goes on, but one day he goes "but who will be the nude one, me or you?"

They go to a few parties, both as a couple and as a trio with J.J., most of them go well, but there are few instances where Asriel nearly gets in a fight with a guy who is coming on too strong toward Frisk, and nearly gets another fight when J.J. gets bullied- and if things go wrong, the three of them leave to go have their own fun.

One day J.J. comes back to the dorm room with pot brownies and shares them with Asriel and Frisk, it ensues a very funny adventure between the three of them, and after that, they use pot brownies to celebrate big accomplishments instead of alcohol after Asriel suffers from the worst hangover ever that ended with him hospitalized.

Things get a little awkward when J.J. admits that he has a bit of a crush on both Asriel and Frisk, but they both let him down gently and they manage to continue being best friends, however, by the end of that month, J.J. meets a dorky cute trans girl and they slowly fall in love.

Asriel and Frisk are both very supportive of each other and help each other with school work, they're even supportive of each other's wishes and desires to do other things, even if it means they'd end up going to different colleges in the future... but they also like the idea of opening up a small health clinic together as a married couple, treating and healing both humans and monsters alike.

-Bringing Frisk to his home-

Asriel brings Frisk home, first introducing them as his best friend but realizes how serious he feels for them and quickly reintroduces them as his romantic partner.

Kris is jealous in the beginning, because here they were waiting all this time to spend time with their older brother, but nooo, he has no time for them due to practically being attached to Frisk at the hip- but being the good brother he is, he catches this before it's too late and makes time for them and Frisk ends up bonding with Toriel and Asgore, they remind them of their parents.

When Frisk finds out that Kris was jealous, and as a person with an older brother figure, they understand and make a point to hang out with them, telling them if they had met earlier before they started dating Asriel, they would have asked for Kris's blessing first- it's a funny thing to say, but Frisk is so serious and sincere about it that Kris can't help but start to like them.

Once they warm up to Frisk and the idea of the relationship, Kris definitely begins teasing them about everything, it embarrasses Asriel but Frisk finds a lot of funny and takes most of the teasing in stride.

Asriel then introduces Frisk to his neighborhood friends and takes them on a few dates around town in the process, it doesn't take long for Frisk to fit into the family and town.

Frisk becomes like an older sibling to Kris, and even if Kris wants to be a monster, they find comfort in bonding with them over human-related things.

-Bringing Asriel to Frisk's home-

Frisk's aunt Ligaya is very charmed by Asriel and treats him like a son, however Andres, who is protective over Frisk, grills Asriel with a hundred questions, by the end of it, Andres is annoyed that he's charmed by Asriel too.

Asriel gets introduced to Filipino food! He ends up really liking it, and on a much later visit, he helps Ligaya cook and sneakily learns how to cook Frisk's favorite foods.

I honestly don’t think I have a favorite character (or at least not one I’ve fully settled on yet.) Though I could bring up a couple ones that I really like:

Deltarune spoilers for those who haven’t played or seen the game:

Cyber Queen (Yes I like to call her that rather than just Queen, I just think it suits her):

I find her to be more interesting antagonist in Chapter 2 than the Chaos King in chapter 1. She has a well written goofy personality, yet she still works pretty well in the chapter. I usually prefer more serious and intimidating villains, but I still really like a few of them (Bill Cipher and Discord are examples of goofier villains that I still really like.) She also works well thematically as she plays a part in Noelle’s character arc in chapter 2.

Noelle:

Speaking of Noelle, she’s definitely one of my favorites. Not just cuz of her arc, but her likely connections to Deltarune’s themes seem to imply we’re far from done with her. (And Snowgrave was pretty dark- I like the whole idea that she ends up at the same point in her character arc as she did in the normal route, but the journey to get there was very different and gave them a different outlook on it.)

Kris:

I for some reason like shy quiet characters (especially protagonists-). I don’t know even why. Speaking of which, I get the feeling that there’s a 50% chance they’re the knight honestly. I know this theory is almost universally disregarded as debunked by the community, but I’d have to disagree. Most evidence that people use to say it’s impossible is weak and based off either false or only one interpretation of a scene or text that has multiple ways of being interpreted, and honestly I’d say you could argue that Kris being the knight would be more narratively powerful than baiting the audience twice in a row. (Some people probably just reject this idea simply because they don’t want to believe what they believe is bait in a giant who-dun-it mystery, even though you could argue that Kris’s motives as the knight is the actual mystery and not whether they are the knight or not (which would make sense given Deltarune’s protagonist vs player conflict that this scene could be trying to further establish, and cramming a whole who-is-the-knight mystery alongside that could probably result in both being weakened severely)) I could write an entire essay on this if I really wanted to, but I’ll leave it at this.

Berdly:

I had to remember and take another look at what this guy’s backstory was again, and honestly, I relate to this guy’s fear of the possibility of having to go somewhere without the help of Noelle, since I’m soon going to enter the adult world, and gonna have to learn how to do everything by myself without the help of people who I’ve relied on- (it was also cool to see him genuinely concerned about Noelle in the Snowgrave route before being turned into a frozen chicken nugget-)

Ralsei:

This guy’s cute and all. The suspicions that people have on him are a bit overblown in my eyes, but I can still see the possibility of something being wrong with him. (I honestly didn’t see much wrong with Ralsei supposedly talking to Kris off camera since I’m pretty sure I skipped the second one during my first playthrough cuz I didn’t know what it was when I first saw it- Nor did the whole titans and the roaring thing come across as withholding information to me since he still explained that the world would end in chapter 1. But he simply didn’t give the details for exactly HOW it would end, though you still could argue that itself was still extremely important) Still wouldn’t be too surprised if he turns out to be hiding something big though.

A definitely small Deltarune rant

Wow, it's been quite some time since I last posted. So, to compensate for that, here's a definitely 100% small rant about Deltarune.

Your choice does not matter.

That right there, is one of Deltarune's main themes, I think, I haven't checked up on its lore in quite some time lmao. Anyway, Deltarune wastes no time in letting you set up a character and then throwing it in a dumpster just to show you that. You play as Kris, a human, in the game and tag along with a monster Susie to the Dark World and meet Ralsei, a Darkner.

The fight mechanics in Deltarune are an overhauled version of the ones in Undertale. But, they feel so much better. Like really, having two more characters seriously makes the combat feel so much better. The combat is a little changed, to accommodate the three members in the main party. Now, you won't instantly die if your HP reaches 0, since Susie and Ralsei still exist.

The game also is in a lighter tone compared to Undertale, I feel. It's quite goofy, just makes it better. Plus Lancer, the best boy obviously, is the goofiest character to ever exist, and I absolutely love him. Then there's the music guys in Chapter 2, and of course; you know him, you love him, NUBERT! Berdly and Noelle too, the characters are extremely good in this game, like there's pretty much no downside to any. They are all extremely fun. Definitely a 10/10 for characters.

And the boss fights in the games are honestly quite phenomenal, escpecially in Chapter 2. My favourite fight, Jevil, with all its chaos and everything, is a perfect example in my opinion of how the fights are really good. There's also Spamton NEO and the first Queen battle at the rooftop, all really good and fun. And each fight is a little more difficult than the last (not counting the secret bosses), showing good difficulty progression. And the first real boss that we fight, K. Round, is really a good showcase as to how the bosses work and how they'll just improve in the future. It feels really good and refreshing to fight all the bosses, no matter how basic or complicated they are. The bosses really are a step up from Undertale.

Then there's the music, and again, Toby went absolutely wild with this too. The music of this game is absolutely awesome. In fact, my top three favourite Toby songs are from Deltarune (not counting Skies Forever Blue, because like, that's the best song ever made and my most favourite song ever but it's not from Toby's games). The music for the areas, the bosses, the normal battle theme, just perfect for the vibe of that particular area or fight. And the music also seems to tell a story with how it progresses. The sound design is exactly what you would expect from Toby, and it doesn't disappoint.

And then, the LORE!! The lore is simple at a first glance, but as you look more and more into it, you realise that its very cryptic and well done. Are Jevil and Spamton connected to the man who speaks in hands himself, Gaster? Are Undertale and Deltarune really connected? Who is Mike? And who is the Knight?? AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, HOW DID SANS BEFRIEND TORIEL LAST NIGHT??!! All these, big questions that everyone is looking the answer for. The Lore of each chapter is also very interesting. The motives of The King and The Queen, and why the King is so serious while the Queen is playful and jolly, the answer is satisfactory. The lore of Kris, the lore of the different Dark Worlds, the lore of Ralsei and his town, all pretty cool. This game has a well made lore, like it's clear that quite a bit of effort has been put into it. And I like it very much.

In the end, I wanna conclude by saying that Deltarune is a masterpiece, and definitely better than Undertale in my opinion.

Ok, let's start at the beginning. A lot of people wonders what is Ralsei, well

I believe that Ralsei is created from the Player's memories of Asriel, since he speaks similarly to him. It also explains how he got to the cyber darkworld quickly, as well as him knowing the school's layout, since he's made from the player's memories of Asriel, he basically goes everywhere the player goes.

Remember how's the knight, Flowey is trapped somewhere in Deltarune and is making darkworlds in a desperate attempt to go home? Well, I've been thinking about how's the player is going to be able to free him, and I only have one idea: Creating a darkworld inside a darkworld. Yes, my theory is that Ralsei made the roaring up, in order to stops the player from freeing the Knight. It would explains why he didn't tell us about the Roaring until chapter 2 as he didn't need to, it wasn't until Berdly almost made a darkworld inside another darkworld that he needs to find a reason why we shouldn't do that. As for why he's stopping the player from saving the Knight, Remember how the said that he goes everywhere the player goes? Yeah, it's quite possible that if the player leaves Deltarune, he essentially DIES. He does NOT want to dies, and so since the only reason the player is in Deltarune in the first place is to save the Knight, he decided to stops them from doing so, in order to force them to stay longer.

It would explains a lot about Kris' behavior. First the reason why they're noticeably uncomfortable around Ralsei is because they knows about his secret, and is DISGUSTED by what he's doing. It's also explains why they made a darkworld in their house. Aside from doing it In order to spite Ralsei it's likely that they were intentionally making it so that there will be a Flowey inspired darkner, both to gets the player to remember him, and to find out how the player feels about him. They also made sure Susie is there, so that she would ask the player about their reaction to "Flowey".

As for how it'll ends, I believe that we'll be sent to Sans' brother in Chapter 6(With us meeting him during chapter 5 at the latest)and he'll tell us about Ralsei's secret thanks to Kris telling him in between chapters, as well as how to free the Knight. The Chapter will ends with the Player creating the final darkworld, inside of the darkworld made this chapter. Chapter 7 will focus on the Player's final confrontation with the final boss.

The Final boss will NOT be Ralsei, but FLOWEY, who will likely be very PISSED off if he were to find out why his escape attempts had failed before.

It'll ends for Ralsei one of two ways

1.Flowey ends up murdering him brutally.

2.The Fun Gang managed to protect him from Flowey or Flowey decided on different tactics for dealing with Ralsei. He soon begin to says goodbye to the rest of the characters, finally accepting his fate...Only for someone(Probably Susie) to point out "Hey, it never stated that you need the PLAYER'S memories of Undertale's Asriel to exists, just that you SOMEONE'S memories of him to exists. Since we have memories of him, thanks to him being the knight, you could still exists.", however it'll causes Deltarune to essentially become a "We could've avoided this plot", as if he simply allows the Player to free the Knight a lot earlier, and allows the Fun Gang to interact with him normally, Ralsei would still be fine.

Forgettable?

So, the first place we learn that resets and loads lead to the reset-er being forgotten is during the ASRIEL DREEMURR fight, at the end of True Pacifist. Which lines up with our friends never remembering us or anything we did, just a vague feeling of deja vu when they meet us for the first time.

This brings up questions about a lot of the characters, and why being forgotten is such a recurring theme. Like, if being forgotten is a property of resetting/loading, why is Papyrus "forgettable"? Why can no one remember the Blooks' real names (and, somewhat relevant, where the heck did Ruins Dummy go and why is no one looking for them)? Why is sans worried about forgetting his 3 friends in the picture (and who the heck are they???)?

And then, over in Deltarune, it's not that nobody remembers Dess, but Noelle is the only one looking for her. And being forgotten must be something that's bugging Dess, because she's the one telling us "don't forget, I'm with you in the dark", almost like, maybe she's being brave about where she is. Also, the song was very corrupted in Chapter 2. If this ends up becoming a trend in future chapters, with an increasing amount of corruption, could that be a symbol of Dess' increasing corruption within in the void? Possibly of her being forgotten by more and more people who knew her?

Speaking of the void, I might as well bring in the most well-known forgotten character. Yeah, Gaster was shattered across time and space, most likely when he fell into either the Core or the darkness that he opened in Entry 17; but since it takes Determination to save/load/reset and Gaster was doing Determination experiments at the same time he was building the Core and running the Entry 17 experiment, we don't yet know that Gaster being shattered wasn't simply the result of, perhaps, a literal explosion of Determination that shattered him. (And if this is the case, it would certainly explain how Dess can be trapped in the void without being completely forgotten- she simply wasn't shattered).

And then there's the evidence that Kris may have reset, and that's why they can remember Susie and Ralsei, but they don't remember Kris.

And I still feel like SFB is relevant here. Even if it's not directly connected to Undertale or Deltarune, it is definitely a very. big. clue. as to how characters gain self-awareness, and they do NOT reach this achievement without causing major corruption to the world around them. We see this with Flowey and ASRIEL DREEMURR, how they can drag us into some nightmarish black... well, void, in order to try to destroy us. Spamton is the epitome of a corrupted save file, and Jevil can do anything, including manipulating the room (the world?) into a revolving carousel (not to mention that Jevil's cell door, and the cell beyond, appear to be outside of normal game space; plus, there's his insistence that he's the only one who's free).

And while were talking about self-aware Darkners, what about Ralsei? The little guy sure seems to know a lot more than he should, eh? And it's not like he's not unforgettable- he was surprised when Susie remembered his Pacify spell after fighting Spade King, and Queen straight-up forgot all about him when she caged up everyone else upon our arrival at her mansion.

And, while I don't feel like his character matches any of these examples- he sure ain't self-aware, he can't manipulate anything, he turned himself into a jackass and a moron- I'm still gonna throw Berdly into this mix, because he described himself as a "forgettable little bluebird," and I think anybody who is easily forgotten should be in this post.

One more thing about Papyrus: why does sans never mention him by name? And if Noelle really did hatch Papyrus from an egg, why can't she remember his name? And why does it bug her so much that she can't?

What they do during their first day on a new Minecraft world:

Kris: The normal stuff like getting wood and stone, but will immediately go off exploring when they’re able to. Usually doesn’t have a set base, if they do, it’s hidden.

Noelle: Prioritizes getting a bucket so she can make farms close to her house. 100% a cottagecore person and will insist on making her house the prettiest it can be on the first try.

Susie:

Ralsei: Goes out and collects as much flora as he can, usually makes animal farms as well. Very against the concept of villager breeding halls and will insist on getting books through trading instead of killing cows.

And also what weapons they prefer in PVP:

Kris: Sword and Shield combo. If it ain’t broke then don’t fix it.

Noelle: Bow and arrow. Actually insanely good at long range, but her click speed isn’t fast enough for using swords or axes.

Susie: Axe, though also enjoys hucking snowballs/eggs or using a trident.

Berdly: Insists on still using the Sword+Fishing Rod combo. Actually pretty good at it too, and alright with a trident.

Ralsei: Crossbow, and if possible, potion-tipped arrows. He also usually has a lot of splash potions on hand, most often slowness or poison.

Okay but all of this is entirely in line with the 'Deltarune is the playerbase's desires' theory/vibe/whatever.

OP pointed it out a bit but I wanna elaborate: the fandom's idea of Asriel does not exist. The fandom has this idea of him as this perfect golden boy, but it's never seen. The only pre-Flowey example of him we get are the tapes with Chara, and many argue the epilogue conversation at the flower bed reflects the 'real' him.

In the tapes, yeah yeah, playful kid. But we also see him trying to get back at Chara for pranks, we see him wishing that he could be more detached, that he could laugh off difficult situations like Chara does (despite the odds of that being a nervous habit or a trauma response, see: Snowy). Through other dialogue we know that Chara was Asriel's first and only real friend... Even though monsters are overwhelmingly friendly. Why did the beloved Prince of the beloved King and Queen, in an exceedingly friendly society, have zero friends?

Then, in the epilogue, a line that sticks with me deeply: despite the fact that Chara was likely pleading with Asriel to let them defend themselves, and that Asriel's refusal cost them both their lives, Asriel condemns Chara's efforts, says they were 'not the greatest person,' and then says that Frisk is the kind of friend they always wish they'd had... Despite knowing Frisk for no time at all, thinking they were Chara for the entire journey until that point. Frisk doesn't even say enough to tell him their name. They're as close to a blank slate as Toby gets in his writing. How quick an 'innocent, faultless cinnamon roll' spits on Chara's memory for this reflective surface of a person.

And, finally, again something the OP touched on: we have no confirmation that Flowey is incapable of love. But we can directly disprove his claim that he doesn't feel anything. Through the whole story he constantly demonstrates sadism which is plainly a form of joy. In the geno route he shows fear. He shows more genuine enjoyment in the epilogue, claiming that it's just something that will wear off, with no backing. As OP mentioned, the alarm clock stuff further supports this.

I could go on about this forever but I'll relent lol

We have zero proof that Asriel ever was, ever would be, ever could be the flawless golden child of fanon, and far more evidence that the manipulative, selfish, guilt-tripping, blame-shifting 'persona' of Flowey/The Absolute God of Hyperdeath, is 'just' a result of garden variety (heheh) trauma and nothing supernatural, or what he would have been like anyway.

I will also spare you a lecture about how 'manipulative, selfish, guilt-tripping, and blame-shifting' all perfectly sum up the worst aspects of both his parents, though it does add yet more fuel to the idea that that's just plain, genuine, pure, Asriel.

How does this relate to Ralsei? Well, he's a remix of Asriel in a shape that probably never existed. There's a lot of very credible theories as to 'what' he is: whether he comes from Kris' subconscious, as a reflection of either their or society's or their idea of society's wishes, expectations, or regrets. The simple and easy and Normal biological little brother instead of the complex and difficult and strange adopted little sibling. Or he could come from Asriel, something he left behind to keep Kris company, or maybe even what Asriel wishes he was.

But he is not Asriel. Just like in Undertale there's little scraps of hints about Asriel's imperfections. I'll spare you that one too, but even the most rose-tinted version of him is (still) a crybaby, unsure of himself, in deep need of constant reassurances and validation. Seems to have trouble making friends. Ralsei, meanwhile, is an absolutely endless fount of self-sacrificing assistance and help and service. At most, this might be someone's idea of Asriel, but it is not Asriel.

And that's just Ralsei. I could also rant about how Kris is a reflection of the fandom's desire for a blank-slate self-insert vessel (lol) to act through (lol x2), how Susie is a reflection of their desire for the impression of meanness with the absence of any actual mean acts. How Noelle is their desire for the Perfect Victim, in comparison to Chara's demonization, even though her role in the Weird Route is a near perfect replica of the way Chara is corrupted through the No Mercy route, just without the ambiguity.

I won't, but the threat is there.

I don't even necessarily believe the idea that Deltarune is primarily intended as an analysis/depiction/dramatization/etc of fandom-skewed interpretations, but it's sure as hell a super juicy analysis angle. Especially for UTDR where every single fanon interpretation seems to be the most poetically tragic one. Looking at you especially, 'child with a martyr/blame-nexus complex who, after taking just 3 lives at the tail-end of a genocide, tells the audience they are a demon and the audience pins the whole damn thing on them.'

On 'saving' Asriel

I think the thing that gets me the most about the 'ralsei and/or deltarune is a creation that comes from our (as players) desires to save asriel, based on what little we really know of him' theory is like... If we did true pacifist, we already saved Asriel.

Let's talk about the epilogue.

No matter how Asriel spun it at the end of true pacifist, turning back into a flower didn't magically take away everything he learned and felt. He tells us not to reset again and to let frisk live their life, he says he can't go through all of that again.

And last year, Toby gave us the alarm clock app dialogue, where it was confirmed that Flowey also got to go to the surface. Look at his cute lil bow! He likes it.

I recommend taking a look through all of his dialogue here, it really shines a light on what he's like on the surface in a way that I think proves something - even if he lost feelings when he originally became a flower, this Flowey? He cares. He doesn't wanna show it, of course. He has a reputation to uphold in this timeline.

But he daydreams about the shiny new bike he wishes he could have for Christmas. He sees his mother passed out in the garage, tuckered out after partying and gets her back home and tucked in, and leaves her a glass of water as overfilled as he and chara always used to do it as kids. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if that bow he's wearing is from papyrus.

Yeah, Flowey doesn't wanna show he cares and hides it behind acting edgy and mean spirited in an almost tsundere fashion, but... Realistically, would a 'saved' Asriel be much different? I think people forget sometimes that Asriel was an asshole for most of his fight - he didn't just magically regain the ability to love and become the Sweet Golden Child we see him as. He wanted to keep killing us, to keep resetting and continuing the 'game'.

What really gave him pause was being reminded of his past, of growing up with chara and the love and kindness of his family. And, after telling himself he didn't feel anything for so long, and that he just wanted chara back because they could 'understand' him like this... Of course it was enough to break the dam. He was overwhelmed - he's not felt like this in so long, and it's so, so much. His capability to love didn't magically return as soon as he became a goat, so I don't think it'd have to immediately fade just bc he became a flower again, either. It's never outright stated as fact that you can't love without a soul, it's just his assumption.

But no matter what - this is a part of him. He's reset countless times, done everything he could think of, became desensitised to anything people would do or say or feel... He's seen it hundreds of times before, and it lost its charm. Flowey was always Asriel, and when he first woke as a flower he was still this scared, crybaby child who wanted his parents.

So let's say we 'saved' him in the undertale universe and he miraculously became a goat again... Then what? You think the twisted sense of humour he's developed over time is vanishing because he's a goat again? That he's gonna instantly unlearn acting like he doesn't care, or easily getting fed up with people are talking? Nah, not when he see settles, and can just be himself. Flowey is Asriel.

Think of the amalgamates. They were all people who fell down, and became victims of a life saving experiment that went horribly, horribly wrong and put them through something truly horrible for who-knows-how-long. But at the end of true pacifist? We welcomed them anyway, and they were accepted by their families even with how much they'd changed. They died and yet they got a second chance with their loved ones. We considered that enough.

Flowey is no different. Asriel died and became an amalgamate (albeit in a different way), but he got his second chance with his family. Sure, he doesn't have arms or legs now and he can't ride that bike, but he's still himself. He's still the kid who overfilled that glass because he was copying his sibling and he's still that little boy who loves his mother very much.

We already saved Asriel, and in a post epilogue world, he's going forth without the threat of resets and time loops, only one life left to enjoy and make the most out of, dialogue and friendships and people being fresh and new and one time only. He's fed up of our influence and wants undertale's world to be left in peace, player-free. He can work through it in his own way, and he will still be who he is, who he's grown up to be.

But bringing this back to deltarune, to the idea of us trying to 'save' him even now, by wanting more... Whatever we'd get back wouldn't be him, not really. We rejected that in persuit of an idealised version of him who never existed. Anything we get back wouldn't truly be the same character we spent so much time with in undertale.

That in itself feels like a tragedy.

-But they don't really show expression.

-But Kris is a Lightener from The Legend so it's most likely not going to happen, that is unless your also from the Legend or have some sort of play in it.

-Kris is still going to treat you as a friend, or if their soul decided be a jerk to you, they'll still think of you as a friend and try and make it up to you some how.

-If you were a human originally and there for didn't know how to use magic...
