bingewatched the entirety Rise of the TMNT recently and adored every second. I want to inject this art style directly into my veins, so I decided to try and redraw some screenshots (thank u Fancaps.net), two from the first ep and one from the movie (which is incredible btw, please watch it).

Leo was already my favorite from back when I watched 2012 (…’s first season, we didn’t have any of the others rip), and then Rise went and turned him into Sonic the Hedgehog so of course I was gonna love him. horrid little man. I’d die for him.

i am incredibly unwell over noelle's private journal entry on kris seemingly "remembering something" and then playing piano for hours being linked in the description (specifically the text "your best") of the heart locket.

"your best" immediately made me think of "your best friend," flowey's theme. heart locket is obvious, the item at the end of undertale that presumablyy belonged to chara. and this may be a stretch, but in ut, the one piano in the game at waterfall, you play asriel's theme.

so i wonder what kris could be remembering...

This issue comes with something really cool as a bonus: a whole boatload of concept art and sketches from Spaziante! This includes stuff we’ve seen before, a few things from the upcoming issues, and even a number of scrapped designs!

Those “manga style” redesigns on the second to last page are particularly cool, even if they probably would’ve just been used in another one-shot alternate universe story in Sonic Super Special or something like that

"Isso Futaride Kokode Kurasouka" (IFKK < if you saw jp fans talk about IFKK, they are referring to this line)

In Jp culture, this is a subtle proposal line and have romantical meaning, in my opinion the speaker (Hange) definitely has some feeling for the listener (Levi), otherwise they wouldn't say that. But Levihan is complicated, they love each other, there's no doubt, but no only the romantical one, also as family, friend, comrade. I can't describe their relationship accurately tbh, maybe platonic but I think they are more than that. Instead of whether this line have romantical feeling, I think the point is Hange wants to spend the rest of her life with Levi, it means much more than just romance.

Especially Hange said "Fataride" (Just the two of us), only her and Levi, no other ppl. In 127 Hange spoke to Jean,

"I wanted to run away, abandon everything, forget everything and live"

“すべて” = Everything, she just said in 126 she wanted to live with Levi, so Levi was not included in the "everything" Hange wanted to abandon and forget. She already counted Levi as a part of herself.

I have read a jp LH fans analysis after 139, she said she was a bit shock because the relationship between LeviHange and 104 is not as close as she expected, but it makes what Hange said more sense. After RtS, it was always the two of them, except Levi needed to babysitting Zeke which seperate them, almost in every flashback we can saw them together. So not only for Hange, Levi also, the idea of "just the two of them" is a consensus between them. Levi never came to sth like "why do you save me" shit, because as soon as Hange found him in 115, he knew Hange will save him and will not abandon him. Hange in 132 also knew Levi wanted to stop her, that’s why she tried to avoid Levi after she decided to take down the wall Titan.

For Levi, he didn't reject Hange's feeling in the forest. Levi only said it is not the time for them to run away, they still have their responsibility. He thinks it is not the right timing, but he didn't say anything about "Just the two of us", because they both take it as a matter of course.

Some ppl said Levi was rejected Hange indirectly, but I don't think so (as I am a shipper). Because there's no need for Levi to reject, he can just ignore it, pretend he didn't know anything. But he especially brought out IFKK, while Hange also mentioned Ackerman and Sannes. In smartpass AU Hange's interview (if I remember it correctly), Hange said Levi always listens to her titan talk and will give response properly. Put it in 126 situation, I think Levi wanted to let Hange knew he already thought and consider about "living here tgt" but now is not the right timing for us to do that. According to jp fans, they think "the unrequited love for titan" in 132 is Levi's answer for Hange's feeling.

Below is just my headcanon, what make Levihan move out from the forest was Eren's declaration. If not because of Eren, Levi will continue pretending to be asleep, thus they can stay with each other a little bit longer. If Levi wanted to kill Zeke so bad, he will not pretend to be asleep but ask where's Zeke immediately once he was conscious. So he probably think it was not bad to stay with Hange in the forest like this until he heard Eren and realized the world will be destroyed, it was not the time for them to stay in the forest anymore.

Hello! I've been following your writing and I must say I absolutely adore your writing style. And I especially love your series, 'I love you 115'.🤩

What I'm here to ask is that both MC's dad and Zha Zhaopeng know that their kids dislike them. What could they possibly be thinking uniting two such wild souls? I know it could be totally due to plot convenience. But it also makes me think that maybe Zha Zhaopeng's understanding of Charlie is merely from a logistics point of view and not from empathy. Still he could know a lot about Charlie even w/o an empathetic lens. What do you think about Zhaopeng's decision to set up an engagement between Charlie and MC, like is it merely for plot conveniences or sth else?

wah, thank you so much for the kind words! i have so many drafts (personal plot bunnies and request bunnies) that i really need to finish up, but if i'm not in the middle of playing events and reading their stories then i'm drowning in real life work.

the heroine's dad is so suspicious i'm totally betting that he may be a hidden boss when we finally meet him. the engagement between Charlie and the heroine was definitely done for a plot reason, because Charlie admits that he only agreed to the engagement to get more freedom from his father (fortunately it's become one of the best things that happened to Charlie).

regarding Charlie's relationship with his dad, i completely agree that Zhaopeng doesn't empathize with Charlie at all. he only knows Charlie so well because he has surveillance on him 24/7 and also raised Charlie, so he's very familiar with all the ways Charlie could rebel in his hands. jokes on Zhaopeng though because love is illogical and now Charlie has someone to protect.

Hello. Do you think Erwin would have saved Levi’s life in 115 if he were there and not Hange? I can’t stop thinking about this, because on one hand, they were close friends but Erwin is also kind of famous for sacrificing subordinates for the overall victory. I suppose that also raises the question of whether or not it would be worth it for either Hange or Erwin to stay with the Yeagerists to follow their plan. What do you think?

I don't think it would have come to this if Erwin was alive tbh...

Erwin's strength was to see far ahead from everyone else. He would not trust them so easily too, he'd probably know they prepared a plan to protect themselves should sth happen.

Chapters 114 & 115 both begin with similar panels of Kyoko and Akira, and Tohru and Akito's respective dilemmas: "the feeling of leaving someone behind" and "the feeling of being left behind". The manga has lots of resonating visuals that were cut from the anime which affects our experience of the story so much! On another topic, have you ever heard the theme song from the 2001 anime adaption? It's called "For Fruits Basket" (Japanese singing version is best) and is so beautiful, still.

Yeah, Momiji's curse break happening to Akito, emphasizes "the feeling of being left behind" & tohru's chapter where she see her mom's ghost after kyo came to pick her up from sense's house emphasizes "the feeling of leaving someone behind". Both sentiments will be experienced interchangeably inside both of tohru's & akito's hearts in the upcoming story climax.

I dare to say, even kyoko attempting to kill herself didn't want to be "left behind" by Katsuya, but she ended up nearly" leaving tohru behind".

Very deep. The underrated theme of "grief & loneliness" is the most dominant in the manga, while the most overrated & popular theme of "coming of age struggle" is the most dominant in the anime, as in nearly hundreds of animes out there. oh well~ I still like the anime regardless.

However, the contrast between anime & manga really expresses a huge deal between: the female author's emphasis on "loneliness & the struggle of letting go of loved ones", & the male director's fixation on "boys leaving the nest & becoming men". Perhaps that was his personal struggle, after all.

As for Fruits Basket 2001, I haven't seen it at all or heard its songs. I remember Youtube being overloaded with amv of fruits basket with huge views back in the day~but I never watched any except one where its centered around whom I know now is Ayame! XDDD! I didnt choose it on purpose, just thought I'll see what's the deal with this anime & pressed one amv & tada~hilarious montage of Ayame! I remember being confused & laughing! XD. What was the song?... um...female singer signing sth like..."Do you think you luv me~~~~ oooh~~ me~~ I think I love you! So what am I afraid of" . OMG! why I'm remembering all this now~! XD

HONEY CAKE

Ingredients:

Cookie Layers

1/2 cup (170 grams) honey

1/2 cup (100 grams) sugar

1/2 cup (115 grams) unsalted butter

1 teaspoon baking soda

3 large eggs

1/4 teaspoon fine sea or table salt

1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla extract

3 1/2 cups (455 grams) all-purpose flour, divided

Frosting and filling

32 ounces (just shy of 4 cups or 900 grams) sour cream

1 14-ounce can (400 grams) sweetened condensed milk

Directions:

Day before

Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Get 2 baking sheets (or even better, round pizza pans) down, more if you have them. Tear off 6 sheets of parchment paper large enough to have a 9-inch circle on it.

Make cookie/cake dough:

In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the sugar, honey and butter over medium heat. Once simmering, cook for 3 to 4 minutes (no specific temperature needed), it should get a faint shade darker and smell wonderful. Whisk in baking soda.

Remove from heat and set aside for 2 to 3 minutes. It’s not going to significantly cool off, just settle a little. Lightly beat your eggs in a spouted measuring cup (for easiest pouring) or small bowl. Take a deep breath. Whisking the honey mixture vigorously in the pot the whole time, drizzle the thinnest stream (think: 1/2 teaspoon at a time, that slowly) of the eggs into the honey mixture. Do not stop mixing. Continue until all of the eggs are thoroughly whisked in.

Stir in the salt and vanilla and 3 cups (390 grams) of the flour with a spoon. The dough is going to be thick like a bread but you’ve got this. Stir in the last 1/2 cup of flour 1/4 cup at a time; you’ll get a bonus arm workout.

Shape and bake the cookies/cakes

Lightly flour your counter and divide the still-warm dough into 8 even pieces. Roll the first one between two sheets of parchment paper (no flouring needed) to a slightly-bigger-than-9-inch round. Remove top sheet of parchment paper. Very lightly dust the top with flour if you’re going to put something on it (such as the bottom of a 9-inch cake pan or the rim of a 9-inch bowl) to trim the shape to an even 9-inch circle. Save the trimmings — put them aside on one of the sheets of parchment paper, it’s fine if they overlap a little. Dock the circle all over with a fork. Slide your 9-inch round onto a baking sheet and bake for 6 to 7 minutes; it should feel firmish and get slightly darker at the edges. Slide the cookie onto a cooling rack. Go ahead and reuse the parchment for another layer.

Meanwhile, while the first layer is baking, roll out your second piece so it’s ready to go into the oven as soon as the first comes out. If you’re making good time, get the third ready too and continue to bake them two at a time. Keep adding the unbaked cookie trimmings onto one piece of parchment paper. Repeat this process as you bake each round and you’ll have all 8 baked before you know it.

Finally, take that last sheet of parchment with all of the cookie scraps on it and slide it onto a baking sheet and bake it, checking in at 4 minutes, because the thinnest scraps will want to burn quickly. By 5 minutes, all should be baked until pale golden. Let cool completely and save until you’re ready to decorate the cake tomorrow.

Fill and frost the cake

Whisk sour cream and sweetened condensed milk together in a large bowl. Once cookies are cool, place a dab of the sour cream mixture on your cake plate and place the first cookie on top of it to help adhere it.

Cut or tear one of your used pieces of parchment paper into strips and tuck them all around the underside of the cake to protect your cake plate. Trust me, if you do not do this, you will regret it.

Scoop 3/4 cup sour cream mixture onto the center of your first cookie layer. Spread it only a little from the center, leaving a good 1- to 2-inch margin of unfrosted cookie. Stack the second cookie on top and repeat until you have 8 layers.

This will quickly become a huge mess. The sour cream is going to spill out and down the sides anyway (hear hear for those paper strips) and you’re going to start yelling at me/drafting an angry comment in your head. It’s also going to want to slide around and not stay neatly stacked. It’s totally okay because the filling will thicken as it absorbs into the cookies. Put the cake in the fridge for a couple hours (1 to 3) and when you come back to it, nudge the stack gently back into place and use a spoon and icing spatula to scoop the spilled-out filling back up the sides and onto the top of the cake. Don’t worry about it looking neat. Let it chill overnight.

The next day, finish the cake

Grind your baked, reserved cookie scraps in a blender or food processor, or bash them into crumbs in a bag with a rolling pin.

Take your cake out and do one final frosting clean-up. Spread any newly puddled sour cream back up the sides and across the top. If you’d like to make a decoration on top of your cake, take one of those used pieces of parchment paper (see how much Deb hates wasting parchment) and cut a stencil with it. Place it gently on top of the cake.

Use a small spoon to sprinkle the top and sides of the cake with the crumbs. In the coolest trick I saw on a cooking video, use a pastry brush (or extremely clean paintbrush, I won’t tell) to gently brush the crumbs off the stencil and across the cake in a thin layer. It sounds crazy but it works — on the sides too. Remove the stencil and parchment paper strips and look at that clean serving plate! (Bravo, you.)

You can serve the cake right away, or keep it in the fridge for up to 5 days. When slicing, I found that a knife dipped in hot water made picture-perfect cuts.

Mom, it may be just me but I feel sth's off about AOT these days bc Isayama has just been focusing on killing and eliminating all the heros of the story left and right. I feel like the story's theme has just turned upside down. Sth doesn't feel right for me. Sure, I wait for the chaps every month, but when I compare the plot to the previous arcs I feel like sth's lost. It doesn't have to be-

Many ppl love the current events and I understand that AOT is not all about rainbows and sunshines but the fact that cruelty and despair are just overpowering hopes and dreams is turning into sth clichè and repetitive. I’m not here to judge the story of course. I still love AOT, and this is just my personal feelings. Maybe I am disappointed a bit, which is why I came to you to vent. You know how to make me feel better with your ideas.

Attack on Titan isn’t rainbows and sunshine, and you’re correct that there is cruelty and despair at almost every turn, but what keeps me going is that no matter how dark a chapter is, there is always reason for hope. 

In the 30 or so minutes since you sent me this ask, I went back through the last 10 chapters of the manga to show you what I mean. 

Chapter 111: Mikasa protecting Gabi and Mr. Braus’s speech about forgiveness.

Chapter 112: Hange’s care of Falco, Armin’s kindness to Gabi, Nicolo seeking redemption, and Levi remembering his former comrades.

Chapter 113: Shadis being willing to endure a brutal beating in order to protect his young trainees.

Chapter 114:Grandma Jaeger and the cat book. 

Chapter 115:Hange’s defiance and fearless determination to save Levi

Chapter 116:Pieck’s confidence in the future and love for her friends

Chapter 117:Magath hugging Gabi and treating her like the child she is.

Chapter 118:Pixis’s resolve and Nile protecting Falco

Chapter 119:Colt’s love for Falco and Porco giving his life for Reiner

Chapter 120:The glimpses of beauty in Eren’s memory shard and the proof that Grisha’s loved his family

Chapter 121:The scarf scene revisited, Grisha’s refusal to kill children, and Zeke finally learning he was loved.

I hope this helps anon. The Attack of Titan world is dark but it’s never entirely without hope or optimism. No matter what, there is always beauty in the midst of the cruelty.
