StEx fandom: "Greaseball is stupid lol" *insert "himbo" comment or illiteracy joke*

Me, a fan who actually pays attention: "Actually, he is not. Certainly not Jeff Shankley's original Greaseball. There was nothing to indicate him being a Himbo™️, although I do think he and Dinah have unfortunately been dumbed down over time, but that's a conversation for another day. Furthermore, if you're joking about someone being "illiterate," then you are either ableist or classist. And lastly, GB had just been injured when he misspelled "Sorry"; he was likely concussed.

See, my issue isn't that I hate fem!GB. (Well, I do, but I also hate pretty much every change they've made to StEx in the past 7 years.) My issue is with how differently the fandom treats fem!GB and original GB.

See, as a man, Greaseball is painted by this fandom as worse than Satan or some shit. But as a woman, that isn't the case at all.

Same with GreaseDinah. Greaseball is a man? Oh, he's an abusive monster and Dinah is a poor, trembling victim with Battered Woman Syndrome. (Not true at all, and it's disgustingly patronizing toward Dinah. ✨️ BELEVOLENT MISOGYNY! ✨️) Greaseball is a woman? "She's just stupid and insecure, she makes mistakes. She loves her girlfriend UWU. 🥺 THE GIRLIES! 🫶"

As soon as we learned that Greaseball would be a woman is this new production, I knew this would happen. I immediately knew the fandom would switch their opinions of GB and GreaseDinah when viewing Greaseball as a woman. And my instinct was correct.

I can't fuck with most GreaseDinah shippers because most are fake shippers and boring. Most of them condemn original GreaseDinah like: "The original version of them is TOXIC, so I don't ship them until later. 🫶" They'll go on and on to separate themselves from us Dirty GreaseDinah shippers so that Annie Anti will like them.

Have they considered that:

They're boring? Only shipping pairings with Healthy, Pure, Socially Accepted, Unproblematic™️ relationships is painfully boring. Y'all must be fun at the club. ("Problematic" literally means "complex" and "complicated," by the way. Soooo... "unproblematic" is boring!)

They have poor character comprehension skills? I've obsessed over this ship and these 2 characters (especially Dinah) for the past 2 years; I've done my analyzing. Dinah was not a victim with Battered Women Syndrome cowering away from Greaseball, and the only claim of abuse we have is from 2 women who were trying to get with G.B. before Dinah bragged about having him. I have explained this so many times.

They don't know how to separate fiction from reality? This is the best and most basic argument: Dinah & Greaseball are not real fucking people. (They aren’t even technically people.) "It's a bad example!1!" Well, maybe people should learn to not take life advice from fictional characters.
