I don’t think we talk enough about how Bruce’s reflexes are uncanny. They’re so good he could catch the hammer in a gun right before it fully fires. He can tell someone is about to throw a punch before they even start moving. He can catch and throw things without even looking at them. His senses are hardwired to detect threats and shift his body accordingly.
And he learned how to do this. That’s the kicker.

82 YEARS AGO - BATMAN DEBUTED FOR THE FIRST TIME Eighty-two years ago on March 30, 1939, Detective Comics #27 hit newsstands, introducing the Caped Crusader for the very first time in a featured story called “The Case of the Chemical Syndicate.”
“And for all that fierce exterior, I’ve never met anyone who cared as deeply about his fellow man as Bruce Wayne.” - Amanda Waller, Justice League Unlimited, Season 2 Episode 13 (2005)

continuing my thoughts about the Bats all being in high-stress physical and mental states so whenever they get captured and injected with truth serum/something to make them compliant, it reacts horribly with the nuclear levels of cortisol/stress hormones in their bodies and they just conk out. hard.
and, obviously, fully-unconscious Bats can’t answer questions, which is a big L for Black Mask to take after paying off Scarecrow to develop a truth serum no one can resist (not even the Bat himself)

How high should the stakes be in a Batman story?
This high.
The whole world is on the line. A man with a gun. A helpless family. A tired, injured, Bat in body armour. Possible but narrow odds,. Barely any time. The whole world on the line. Because this is somebody's entire world on the line right now. And Bruce understands that, because his world was destroyed once.
