Steven Van De Velde is a convicted child rapist and about to participate in the 2024 Olympics.

When he was 19 years old, he traveled to Milton Keynes, UK, where he met up with a 12 year old girl.

When her mother wasn't home, he put the victim under the influence of alcohol and raped her three times.

This is such a punch in the face of every victim of abuse.

a common misconception i see online is that all the people mad at imane khelif aren’t trying to protect women, but rather a small frame of what they think a woman is. i highly disagree with this because if it was about protecting women in any capacity then steven van de velde would have been banned from the olympics to protect the underage athletes. to them, a woman’s life doesnt matter once they’re out of the womb. it was never about protecting women. it’s about finding a vulnerable group to shit on for sick pleasure.

while the Olympic committee continues to fail and be discrimatory towards Black women athletes, you got to play on a global stage despite doing one of the most heinous and vile acts any person could commit against another person -in this case, a CHILD when you were 20 years old. no one has sympathy for you. in fact, the booing was far too tame.

"Not all men" but none of Steven van de Velde's teammates are speaking up. Not a single one. No one is refusing to play with him. The only person who is speaking up? A black woman- Simone Biles.

The worst he gets are a few "boos". Nothing thrown, no assaults, no mass protest marches. He's not even "accused", he has been Convicted. Proven guilty of raping a 12 yr old multiple times. He knew her age, he travelled to a whole different country just to rape her. He gave her alcohol. During one rape, she told him he was hurting her. The little girl later self harmed and attempted to kill herself by overdose. Velde told his child victim to go get birth control, alarming medical staff. He is given a measly 4 yr sentence, only serves 1/4 of it, not even half, and he is still allowed to compete in the most prestigious sports event in the world. (Even though a woman- Sha'Carri Richardson- was kicked off her Olympic team just for having weed in her system). But sure "A mans life is ruined just from a false allegation".

Society's hatred of child rapists is all performative.
