Then the edit divulged from a Steven Lim appreciation edit to an overall-appreciation-towards-Watcher/with-a-heavy-emphasis-on-Steven-Lim edit. I will admit, I’m usually not one to make emotional type edits (I’m here for the crack/cursed shit), but this particular song holds a special place in my heart. Announcing the 2024 Watcher TV Zine

Today is Steven Lim's half birthday, and by his regular birthday on November 10, 2024 we'd like to raise at least $1,000 for the Asian Pacific Community Fund in his name.

To reach this goal, we need your help Watcherinas!

The plan is to assemble a digital fanzine (e-zine), that will be available for anyone who makes a donation to the upcoming fundraiser. It's digital delivery with a low minimum cost so that the greatest number of Watcher fans worldwide will hopefully get to enjoy this.

Creators: If you're interested in creating a fanwork for this project, please fill out our Creator Interest Form. We'll follow up with an email once we get your Google response.

Donors: Follow us on socials to get updates! The plan is to post the fundraiser with the finished zine by October 1, 2024, and we'll post the progress of our fundraising totals along the way.

in honor of steven lim appreciation week, i thought i would post my favorite photos of the silly. so here he is <3 the guy <3 wow wow wow!

I dunno if it's still Steven Lim appreciation week but I wanna say something.

When I got into watcher, I never quite knew who Steven Lim was, I was semi familiar with Shane and Ryan but not Steven Lim.

When I first saw Dish Granted, it was such a fun little show I'm honestly shocked it wasn't popular because this is a guy making a lovely dish for his friends, what's not to love? And better yet, the one show that made me pick cooking up as a hobby because food to me is a love language, I'd love to cook for my loved ones.

And there was also homemade, and one episode I really love is the tamale one. My life as an Mexican-American, I rarely if ever saw someone explore Mexican dishes other than tacos and burritos. Tamales are one of my favorite foods and I've never felt so much joy seeing an episode on my favorite dishes.

When I was getting into watcher and rarely saw Steven (note: this was before the new making watcher and before I learned steven was ceo), I felt bad, and I know that's weird to say because I don't know him but I always felt like I'd leave steven out because yknow I tend to focus on Shane and Ryan a lot, but I love Steven a lot too and I've always tried to focus on him a lot more sometimes.

He isn't perfect, no person is. But when I look at Steven, I don't see some sort of villain who's trying to take watcher away, I see a man with good intentions and a good heart who uplifts others and expresses a love for food with others trying to keep his company afloat, who of course made a risky business decision with his co founders but nonetheless apologized for it.

I think that's what Steven means to me, and I am very excited for Travel Season.

I believe in you, Steven.

Steven Lim Appreciation Week Day 2 - Steven's personality! <3

What I love about Steven is his support of the LGBTQ+ community.

There are many examples of this but one that is especially close to my heart is him acknowledging they/them pronouns and supporting non-binary people.

Like, he does not make a big deal out of it but it is there, and I honestly believe that he genuinely cares about LGBTQ+ people.

Shane: When we started the company, Ryan, Steven, and I were all like, "We'll all be CEOs." And then I think we hung onto that for a while before realizing that Ryan and I had absolutely no interest, or knack for the thing. So Steven is now the CEO, thank God.

How Steven Lim Impacted Me Growing Up:

I may have joined the Watcher fandom about a year ago, but I have known Steven since the early days of BuzzFeed. That's right, I have always been a Worth It guy since Season 2 if my memory is correct. I have been a fan of food content as some of the many reality TV shows I would watch with my family growing up were competitive food shows a la Gordon Rasmey shows. The thing that differed me from the rest of my family is that I would indulge in YouTube content more than traditional media.

That is why I believe middle-school-me was inclined to click on my first Worth It video; “$17 Fried Chicken Vs. $500 Fried Chicken”. Though I clicked for the visually satisfying display of fried chicken-based dishes, I stayed for a completely different reason. Steven not only crafted a well-organized show while displaying a fun dynamic with his coworkers, and might I add his close friends- Andrew Ilnyckyj and Adam Bianchi- Steven also made a show beyond food and getting to share those experiences with friends;

He made a show to exhibit a wide range of cultures and traditions among various backgrounds masked by the concept of food/cooking for others. Covering a wide range of foods while also traveling to different countries to experience the culture face-to-face, and sharing these experiences with the world via YouTube. For me, a kid mainly watching people goof off while playing video games with each other, a show with so much substance should have not captured my attention at that age, but it did.

Now that I am an adult (of sorts), my appreciation for what Steven has made with Worth It has just blossomed into something real with meaning, and understanding. That same love and appreciation for Steven has tied over into Watcher when I realized he was one of the 3 CEOs of the company. Where, might I add, I see him coming out of his shell even more with Shane and Ryan and ultimately having the creative freedom to make what he wants to make, and make it how he wants to make it.

With the fact that he can create whatever now, Steven still bases his shows on a deeper meaning in understanding all the sides of various people.

Family. Passion. Love. Appreciation. Learning. -and- Experiencing.

Not only are his shows based on this deeper meaning, but he has also shown his selflessness by helping raise money for many charities and speaking out for the Asian and LGBTQ+ community. Let’s never forget too that he put the burden of dealing with the business side of Watcher and putting aside his creative wishes to make sure the company stays afloat. He has done so much for us, the fans, and the one thing this man deserves is our respect.

Steven Lim is truly an amazing guy from what I can see/what others close to him say on his behalf. Along with the few conversations I've been granted to have with him in the obeaver chat on the Wiscord. Steven cares about Watcher so much, and it shows. He has truly inspired me, along with the rest of team Watcher, to push and create. To push myself outside of my comfort zone to better myself as a creative individual, and all in all inspired me to take the leap and actually pursue my dreams in video production.

I hope Steven knows how much the fans love and appreciate everything he does for us, and I hope that one day I can say all of this and more to him in person.

We love you Steven Lim, and we are excited for what you continue to make for us all! <3

hi! I am currently writing 2 papers atm so this unfortunately has to be brief:

steven lim has had such a big impact in me, more then he will ever know. and i am going to try to articulate that now.

his choice to go from an Actual Engineer to his passion means a lot to me. in highschool i was one of those (assholes) who were just really fucking good at school. i really could have shot for a stable, high paying, grueling, passionless, sad career if i wanted it. but i didnt! im following my dreams to make videogame art and work in 3d modeling and animation, and i really love it. its genuinely a passion of mine, and ive met so many amazing friends and had insanely cool opportunities (i just finished a game for NASCAR! whaat??), and my future is looking so bright because of that choice to follow my passion. its so inspiring to see someone who is like you choose the path you chose, and see how it works out.

he has inspired me to explore different cultures from mine, and just learn what other peoples lives are like! im white, and i grew up in a small white suburb. i was (and am) ignorant on so much of the world. watching steven talk about his culture and bond with people over food has pushed me to reading books from others perspectives and cultures, learning languages, and generally just learning more from the people around me. love is stored in the kitchen, and im so grateful that he shares that love with all of us.

its no secret that watcher has had a huge impact on me (just Look at my blog lmaoo) they've comforted me when im at my lowest, ive made so many friends from this community, and everyday i get to log on and interact with you all, and that is a huge joy. without steven watcher wouldnt exist, and im so greatful that he stepped up and worked so hard for this all to exist. thank you so much steven, you deserve to be endlessly thanked for the priceless friendships youve given me.

ps: me and my good pal @shaniacsboogara have an elaborate inside joke that steven and her are sending birds to come and attack me and that has entertained us (and our poor mutuals who have to witness it) endlessly for over a year now. every time i hear or see a bird, i smile now thinking of steven, boog, and that silly silly joke.
