For #tbt I thought I’d post some pics of the ingredients that went into the “sauce” (keys, synths, drum machines, soundchips, tape machines, tape..etc) as well as the original acetate of the finished album. The volume of the vinyl version was down a couple db’s as noted on the cover because of the limitations of mastering more that 20 mins per side. It was called “Miss You Much” and if I remember correctly it was literally the first track Janet heard when she arrived at our Flytetyme studio in Minneapolis fresh off the plane from LA to start recording the album. When she walked into the room it was blasting out the speakers and she smiled so we pointed to a note on the keyboard and told her to play it on our cue. She did, and it became the high string part on the chorus of the record. Although the recording process took 6 months her smile upon hearing this for the first time set us on a path that will never be forgotten.
