CW: nsfw/smut ahead
It was a little surreal, walking up the steps of the Corroded Coffin after the events of his last visit to the place. At least this time he’d be walking in the front doors instead of trekking through the unholy depths of the city sewer. Steve was a little surprised that this was where Eddie had chosen to meet. He’d expected to be called to the vampire’s office at Guilty Pleasures, presuming the strip club would be his base of operations now that he was in charge, but then again, this place had belonged to Billy. Was it possible that when Eddie took on the role of Master of the City he’d also inherited the former leader’s estate?
There was a show on that night, some theatrical metal band that Steve had never heard of, and the place was as busier than he’d ever seen it. He scanned the crowd, unsure of what or who he was looking for, only that there would be someone waiting for him at the door.
A young girl with bright blue eyes and red hair caught and held his gaze for so long, he started to feel uncomfortable. No, not uncomfortable. That tingling feeling on the back of his neck had nothing to do with the girl’s intense stare, terrifying as it was, it was the power coming off of her that was making his skin crawl.
She sized Steve up, her eyes scanning from the top of his head to the tip of his toes, taking quite the detour inbetween. She looked a little young to be ogling him like that, but he was reasonably sure that she was much older than she appeared.
“Are you him?” The girl asked pointedly, with a single raised eyebrow.
“I’m Steve, yeah, if that's what you mean.”
“Hmmpf,” She hummed, tilting her head slightly. “I thought you’d be bigger. Follow me.” The girl quickly turned on her heel and walked away, not even bothering to look back and see if he was following.
Steve furrowed his brow, looking down at himself in confusion. He wasn’t short or anything, 5 '11'’ was a perfectly respectable height, thank you very much. He wasn’t skinny either, though he supposed he could stand to lift a few more weights here and there in between cardio workouts. She certainly couldn’t have been talking about his personality. They’d barely exchanged a handful of words, hardly enough for a first impression, let alone a judgment like that. Come to think of it, why was he letting this little girl get to him anyway?
Steve shook his head at himself and jogged a little to catch up with the red ponytail bouncing its way through the thick mass of concertgoers.
While the girl moved easily through the crowd, like the bow of a ship cutting through deep waters, Steve had to fight his way through the sea of leather-clad bodies. He caught up to her eventually, staying close so as to not get lost in the shuffle.
He had assumed he was meeting Eddie in the underground, but that appeared not to be the case since she was leading him further into the venue and up towards the balcony. He wanted to be annoyed, the whole reason he had come here in the first place was to see if Eddie knew anything about the murder and he couldn’t exactly ask those types of questions around this many people, but he was too nervous to manage it properly.
Once they were in the upper section of the theater it was much easier to get around since there were so few seats up there and the only other people around were those few who could afford the insane price for these private sections.
Steve grew impatient as they passed door after door until the girl finally stopped at the one that must have housed their destination.
She knocked twice, not waiting for any sort of signal that he could detect anyway, before stepping inside.
Steve was surprised to find two men standing to attention like sentries just inside the door, even more so when he realized that one of them was Jonathan, the wererat. They shared a brief nod of recognition. He didn’t know the other guard but thought he could safely assume the guy was another wererat by the way his energy felt so similar to Jonathan’s in Steve’s head. Grant, his nametag read, which almost made Steve chuckle. He knew that all wereanimals were human before they caught the disease, officially called lycanthropy, but it still seemed funny to him when they had such mundane names, same with vampires.
Red abandoned him immediately, taking a seat on the plush leather couch that sat in one corner of the space. She wedged herself between a young black man that Steve didn’t recognize and a girl who, judging by their resemblance, had to be his sister. Both of the new faces sang with an otherworldly energy, not the same as the redhead. So not vampires, but something more akin to Jonathan and Grant. Some other flavor of wereanimal he supposed.
On the other side of the box sat a small private bar complete with a surprisingly human bartender. One seat was taken up by another new face. A tall vampire with very long, very straight black hair, and an easy smile.
The other three stools were taken up by familiar forms. Dustin, Jeff, the vampire from Guilty Pleasures who had helped Steve out after he’d been bitten by Billy, and of course… Eddie.
Eddie, who looked somehow even better than Steve remembered.
He was dressed head to toe in all black. Skin tight leather pants tucked into boots with just a smidge of a heel. His shirt was a similar style to those Steve had seen on the man before, apart from its color. With long frilly sleeves and collar, it was almost antique looking at first glance, but on closer examination the body of the shirt was entirely sheer.
He saw Eddie only in profile at first, but one nipple was clearly visible through the light fabric, as was a hint of the line of hair that disappeared into his pants. His curls were pulled up, reminding Steve instantly of the dream they had once shared, of Eddie dancing on a pole just for him. There was something new to catch his attention as well, various gold hoops, studs, and dangling jewels hung from both of Eddie’s ears, glittering in the light low light.
Steve stood frozen in the doorway as the dark haired vampire turned and their eyes met for the first time in months. His mouth went dry, pulse quickening. He’d thought, well, he’d hoped with all the time apart that maybe Eddie’s presence wouldn’t affect him quite so much, but he was wrong.
Oh god, he was so wrong.
The pull was worse than ever and it took all of Steve's willpower not to cross the room and climb right into the man’s lap.
He couldn't seem to wrench his gaze away and panicked briefly thinking that it was Eddie using mind tricks on him, before he remembered that he couldn’t. With the first and second marks firmly in place, Eddie had less power over him than ever. Which meant that this fascination was all him.
Fuck.
Steve dropped his gaze to the floor as he entered the room, finally letting the door close behind him, not for fear of being compelled but for self-preservation. He couldn't stare into those deep chocolate drowning pools that, power or no, he could get so easily lost in. Eyes that tonight were framed not only by the fan of Eddie's naturally long eyelashes, but were also lined in black, artfully smudged into smoky wings at the corners.
He was beautiful.
Steve took a deep breath and conjured up images from that morning’s crime scene in stark detail to remind himself of why he was here. He could do this. Just a quick interview and then he would get the hell out here and as far away from this temptation as possible.
“Harrington.” Eddie greeted him, rising from his seat but thankfully remaining a safe distance away. “To what do we owe the pleasure of this unexpected visit?”
Steve looked back up hesitantly, catching Dustin’s nervous stare from where he sat behind Eddie for a second before offering an answer.
“Maybe I came to congratulate you on the promotion. Master of the City is a pretty tall order. I didn’t think you had the kind of power it takes to keep control of a city.” He was thrilled that, though he felt like he was going to vibrate out of his skin, his words came out strong and even.
“You and everyone else.” Eddie remarked, with more honestly than Steve would have expected.
It was subtle, but he sounded tired too, strained, regardless of the front he was trying to put off with the clothes, makeup, and entourage. It couldn’t all be for Steve’s benefit, and it had him wondering what sort of trouble the creatures of the city were giving the new head vampire and If there were others after Eddie in the same way that Humans First was.
That wasn’t Steve’s problem though, he had to keep reminding himself of that.
Apparently he’d been quiet for too long, and Eddie spoke again. “I know better than to hope this is a personal call. It’s okay Steve, just tell me what you came here for so you can scurry off back to your life of raising the dead and pretending I don't exist.”
Steve frowned, feeling like he wanted to defend himself or maybe apologize?
He wasn’t sure.
He grit his teeth hard enough that his jaw cracked, hating the way his thoughts swirled and his emotions flared hot and cold around this vampire. Life had been so much simpler before. He’d know what was right and what was wrong then, and he wouldn’t have been struggling this hard to not close the distance between them.
Steve looked around the room, taking stock of just how many ears with supernatural hearing were around, and also gave himself a second to get a grip before looking back at Eddie.
“There is something I need to speak with you about, but it’s police business. Is there someplace more private we could talk?” He asked, finally.
Eddie’s eyebrows rose slightly but otherwise he kept his face carefully blank. He cleared his throat roughly which seemed like an odd thing for a vampire to have to do, and suddenly Steve wondered if Eddie was having some of the same difficulties he was.
Before the vampire could respond, Steve’s ears were abruptly assaulted by the overwhelming sound of power cords and thumping bass, drawing his attention and reminding him that there was in fact a concert going on outside of this weird bubble he’d been brought into. The box they were standing in was positioned high above the crowd, dead center facing the stage.
The sight was normal enough, a band consisting of a pair of guitarists, one also being the lead singer, a bass player and a drummer with one of the most complex setups Steve had ever seen. Less typical were the extra performers on stage, namely a giant snake that looked too big to be real and a woman dressed as a belly dancer who appeared to be charming the humongous reptile to the beat of the music.
Steve…was not a fan of snakes. They didn’t bother him as much as rodents did, though after the events of summer he thought he might be over that particular phobia, but there was just something about snakes. The way they moved, the feel of their scales, their smell, all of it conspired to set off goosebumps running up and down his arms.
There was another reason this particular serpent was making him so nervous, and that was the unmistakable pulse of power he could feel coming from the creature.
Steve rolled his eyes and tried to pretend he wasn’t sweating with fear. Of course Eddie would book a band that performed with, not only a giant fucking murder noodle, but a magical one at that.
A hand touched his shoulder and Steve nearly jumped out of his skin. It was Eddie trying to get his attention. Steve wanted to lash out, but realized with how loud the room now was, the man could have been shouting his name this whole time and he might not have heard.
Eddie tilted his head towards the door before setting off in that direction himself, a clear indication that Steve should follow him.
It was quieter out in the hall but Steve could still hear the music and faintly behind that, the hum of the crowd.
A short walk and another nondescript door later, Eddie was ushering him inside…a bathroom.
Granted, it was a fancy one with dark ornate tiles and gleaming fixtures, meant for the well paying patrons of the upper floors, but still a bathroom. Steve laughed for real then. It was ridiculous, but of course Eddie wouldn't have an office up here.
Oh well, he’d asked for privacy.
The door swung closed and Eddie locked it behind them. Steve opened his mouth to protest but Eddie cut him off. “There may not be many people up here but we still don’t want to be walked in on, or do we?”
Steve gulped and squeezed his eyes shut for a moment, unable to stop his mind from running through all the different positions and scenarios in which they could be walked in on.
“There's been a murder,'' he blurted out, before really getting himself under control. He had to get this done and get out before he did something monumentally stupid.
“So, someone in this city of over 800,000 people dies, and the first person you think to question about it is little ole me?” Eddie smirked.
Steve put his hands on his hips. “You say that as if you’re not a vampire and a natural killing machine.”
Eddie shrugged, nonchalant. “I can’t help what I am. I wonder though, if you think I'm guilty of this murder you are investigating, then why are you in here with me alone?”
“You’re not a suspect, more a… person of interest.”
“Oh?”
“I think you might be able to help me figure out who is responsible.” Steve explained.
“Why would I do that?”
Because you want me just as much as I want you, Steve’s traitorous mind supplied.
Instead he said through slightly gritted teeth, “It’s not exactly a good look for you, is it? Humans suddenly found dead with multiple vampire bites. Surely, as the newly famous Master of the City who wants to keep the peace between vampire and humans, you can see how that might be a little difficult if one of your new pet vampires has gone rogue.”
Eddie was unimpressed by the accusation. “If someone really has been murdered the way you describe, I can promise it wasn’t any of my people. Even the new additions.”
“What do you mean, if?”
“Well, it sounds like this body you describe had several bites, perhaps your so-called ‘victim’ chose this. Can’t you just ask them when they rise in a few nights?”
“You don’t understand. The way this body was left…” Steve shook his head. “It doesn’t matter. I checked the bite radiuses. It was more than one vamp. This victim won’t rise.”
Eddie stilled. “A group attack then. You’re looking for a master vampire and their flock.”
“Yes, one that has clearly gone off the rails and is hunting humans in your territory, Eddie. Now do you see why I came to you?”
Eddie conceded, nodding. “Max, that’s the girl that brought you to me, and Argyle, he was sitting next to Dustin at the bar, they are new here and both master vampires, but I know they didn’t do this. They’re blood-oathed to me, I'd know if something like this happened.”
“You could just be covering for them, protecting them.”
Eddie, who’s eyes had drifted away as he was deep in thought, snapped back to attention and angrily met Steve's gaze. “After everything we’ve been through, you think I'm lying now?”
Steve sighed and shuffled his feet, uncomfortable with what he was about to admit. “No, actually. Somehow, I believe you.”
“What about Jason Carver and his order?” Eddie suggested. “He is a master, and from what I hear he gives his people a pretty long leash.”
“We’ve considered that. The police are talking with him tonight too.”
“Oh, so you volunteered to take me on while they speak with him, huh?”
“That’s not…” Steve stuttered.
“Tsk tsk” Eddie reproved. “Careful Steve, you might be able to lie to yourself, but you can’t lie to me.”
“That’s not fair, you can hear my heartbeat. You’re like a walking lie detector test.”
Eddie leveled him with a penetrating stare. “You and I both know that’s not why. You may be getting better at shielding yourself from me, but when we are this close I can't help feeling some of your emotions. You project them so loudly.”
“The only emotion I feel towards you is hatred, Eddie.”
The vampire shook his head, taking a step closer. “Lie.”
“Would you rather I had sent the police here?” Steve snapped.
Eddie snorted, waving a hand dismissively. “And miss out on this lovely visit we’re having? Of course not.”
“Then why are you pushing?”
Eddie took a few more slow steps towards him, closing the wide gap between them. He gently stroked the back of his hand over Steve's cheek, the touch so soft it was like being caressed by a ghost. Steve remained unmoving, at war with himself, unsure of which instinct was stronger, to step back and regain some distance, or move in closer and surrender to his darkest desires.
Eddie, likely fully aware of Steve’s internal battle, grinned. It wasn’t his Cheshire cat smile either, the one where you could be sure he was up to something. No, this smile was sweet, a little crooked, and undeniably genuine. “Because, I like the music your heart makes when it beats like a trapped animal in your chest.”
Steve gulped.
He needed to back away.
He needed to get out of here.
“You want me so bad right now you can hardly see straight.” Eddie breathed the words, continuing his assault on Steve's defenses. The hand that had been gently stroking his face traveled lower. Steve sucked in a breath but Eddie’s touch didn’t go where he expected, instead he found the vampire taking his hand, pressing their palms together, fingers entwined.
Eddie was…holding his hand.
“Why do you insist on fighting it? On fighting me, when we could just be together?” Eddie whispered, his face suddenly so much closer than Steve had realized.
“You’re a vampire,” Steve rasped.
He’d meant for it to come out strong, defiant.
He’d utterly failed.
Still, Eddie flinched, a sorrowful look crossing his face as he said again, “I can’t help what I am.”
It was the sadness shining in his eyes that did it. For one split second Eddie looked all too human and Steve’s resolve broke. He crashed his lips into the vampire's and walked him back until he was pressed firmly into the tiled wall. The kiss was deep and dirty, barely a kiss at all, it was more like they were feeding at each other's mouths.
Both of them pent up, desperate, and wanting.
Eddie made a noise low in his throat, a moan, almost a growl, and the sound set fire burning through Steve's body at the same time all the blood in his veins rushed south.
He didn’t think about the fact that they shouldn't be doing this, or that he was going to hate himself later for giving in.
Steve ran his fingers along the waistband of Eddie's pants until he found the zipper, pulling it down slowly as he broke the kiss and sank to his knees.
He took a moment to look up into Eddie’s eyes before releasing his rapidly hardening cock from the confines of his tight pants, and found him heavy lidded with desire.
Steve returned to his task, unconsciously licking his lips as Eddie’s length finally sprang free. In all their encounters, dream and otherwise, Steve had never seen Eddie laid bare, had never gotten to hold him in the palm of his hand.
He reveled in it now as he gave Eddie a few strokes before taking the head into his mouth. He swirled his tongue around, dipping the tip of it into the slit to catch a bead of precum he could feel there before sinking down as far as he could go. Steve moaned at the feeling of Eddie's cock sitting heavy on his tongue.
“Fuck.” Eddie cursed above him, winding a hand into Steve's hair, gripping firm but not pulling.
Steve relaxed his throat, taking Eddie as deep as possible and set an even pace, bobbing up and down on the considerable length. He couldn't help noticing that, even here, Eddie’s skin was cooler than a humans. It was different but not unpleasant, as was the slightly coppery flavor of him.
“Feels so good.” Eddie gasped. “Baby, I'm not gonna last.”
Baby.
That really did something for him. Steve groaned and popped the button on his own jeans with two fingers. He shoved the hand into his boxers and began to stroke himself in time with the movement of his head.
”Look at you, sweetheart.” Eddie cooed, stroking a thumb down Steve’s cheek. “All worked up just from your mouth on my cock. Had I known where this was going I would have taken you somewhere more comfortable.”
Steve whimpered, the sound muffled inside his overfull mouth, and suddenly he was cumming hard enough that stars burst on the edge of his vision. He screamed his release around Eddie’s shaft and the added sensation was enough to push the vampire over the edge. Steve had taken Eddie all the way down as he rode out his own orgasm, and Eddie's release shot right down his throat. Steve swallowed reflexively as he came down from his own high.
He pulled off of Eddie slowly, jaw sore, and sat back on his heels for a moment to catch his breath. Eddie tucked himself away and offered a hand to help Steve stand, which he took.
Eddie tried to pull him in for a kiss but Steve, suddenly all too lucid, threw himself backwards violently.
Now that he’d cum, now that they’d both cum, reality was setting in. He was embarrassed and angry, though for once not at the vampire standing in front of him.
He felt like he’d betrayed himself.
Eddie’s eyes shuttered, his expression that was once wide open, and full of some emotion that Steve didn’t want to think about, a moment before, was now closed off and stony.
“This doesn’t change anything between us.” Steve said, voice hoarse from the abuse he’d just put his throat through. “It was a mistake.”
“I see.” Eddie replied coldly.
Steve stumbled over to one of the sinks, refusing to meet Eddie’s gaze as he washed the sticky mess off his hand.
When he did finally raise his eyes to the mirror to risk a glance behind him, he found Eddie stiff and alert, staring at the door they’d entered through and tilting his ear in the same direction.
Supernatural hearing.
“What is it?” Steve asked, ignoring the uncomfortable squirming in his gut in favor of the sudden dread coursing like ice through his veins.
“Screaming. Something’s wrong.” Eddie answered quickly. He didn’t waste any more time explaining. He unlocked the door and took off at such a speed that Steve barely saw him move.
He dried his hands quickly and set off after the vampire without hesitation.
The panicked screams hit Steve in the hallway. He rushed to the door of Eddie’s club box and threw it open.
All of the vampires and wereanimals inside were staring at the stage, matching looks of horror on all of their faces as the crowd below descended into chaos, everyone trying to leave at once through too few doors.
It appeared that the giant snake had attacked his trainer, a fact that Steve was only aware of because he saw, for a brief moment, the woman’s legs sticking out of the monster’s mouth, still kicking as it swallowed her whole.
All of the blood drained from Steve’s face. He suddenly felt faint. This was beyond his worst nightmare.
“What are you doing?” He asked, realizing that everyone around him was now pushing past him to the door.
Eddie looked back but didn’t stop, a grim look of determination on his face as he answered. “Going down there, we have to stop it before it wades into the crowd.”
Steve made to follow but Eddie spun around and stopped him with a hand on his chest. “Go home, Steve. This isn’t your problem.”
“I’m not leaving, I can help.”
Eddie’s jaw tightened, but it was worry swimming in his eyes, not anger. “Fine. I hope you have something more on you than that little blade you like to keep in your boot.”
Steve withdrew the gun that had been hiding under the loose dress shirt he was wearing. “I have 15 rounds of silver ammunition on me. If I need more than that then we’re truly fucked.”
“Steve, it’s a magic snake. I don’t even know if it can be killed.” Eddie made to reach for him again but stopped before he could make contact. “I can feel how much it scares you, you don’t have to do this.” He said again, sounding guilty.
“I’m fine, and to be clear I’m not doing it for you” Steve said, and deep down he knew it was a lie. “I’m doing this for Dustin and for all of those civilians down there that you put in danger by booking an act like this. Besides, anything can be killed if you try hard enough.”

From chapter six of Steve Harrington: Vampire Hunter
Eddie continued to dance under Steve’s watchful gaze, undulating his hips to the beat in a way that was utterly mesmerizing. The song ended and a new one began. Eddie dropped to his knees next to the pole, a perfect compliment to the transition in music. He rolled his body as he flung his head around, the movement loosened the hair piled on top of his head, sending it cascading around his face and shoulders like a dark curtain.

Hunter and Prey
Part 1, Part 2
Steve's life goes on as usual. Well, okay, not his life, because he's dead. His un-life goes on, or something. Semantics were never his thing.
He sleeps during the day and roams the streets of Hawkins at night, making sure to stay away from humans and vampires alike. He's not a big fan of either, so he keeps to himself. It sounds lonely when he says it like that, but he's a vampire. He has no soul to feel loneliness, or so they say.
It's a few weeks later that Steve sees him again.
The human is talking to another vampire, or more likely goading him, and tries to pull out his holy water gun again, but the vampire is too quick. Steve suspects that the other vampires in town must have heard about this trick by now. This one, Jason, if Steve remembers his name correctly, definitely has. Vampires are terrible gossips, he found out, something that not even death seems to cure in people.
The human's eyes widen in surprise as Jason pins him to the ground and he tries in vain to push the vampire off of him so he can crawl away, but he has no chance. It doesn't look good for him, but Steve has underestimated him before, and he is sure that the human must have another trick up his sleeve.
Jason smiles menacingly down at the human prey beneath him and Steve can tell that he thinks he has the upper hand by far. At any moment, the human will surprise them both. Steve holds his breath, even though he doesn't have to draw one at all, and waits for it, when Jason leans down and bares his fangs. Steve can hear the human's heart beating wildly in his chest, a panicky bird flapping against the bars of its cage, and he realizes that no, there's no trick.
Call it a soft heart (the other vampires definitely do), but Steve feels drawn to help him. He doesn't want to question it, he just chalks it up to his knowledge that this particular vampire is an asshole. That's what he tells himself as he jumps behind the vampire, puts both hands on his head, and twists. There's a loud snap, like someone stepping on a dry twig, and the vampire falls to the ground.
He's not dead. Or he is, but he's still undead. Goddamn semantics. What matters is that Steve knows that Jason is only out for a little while and that he will be pissed when he comes to again. He looks down at the human who's still lying on the ground, his chest heaving, and Steve can hear the blood rushing through his veins, can smell it. His fangs tingle.
They make eye contact and the human's eyebrows are furrowed, eyes still wide and pupils dilated with fear, but there's something else in his eyes too, something that looks a lot like curiosity.
Great, just what he needs, another human who wants to know shit about him. As if Dustin and his endless questions for Science, Steve weren't enough. He needs to nip this one in the bud.
“You got a sword or something?”
The human blinks at him, seemingly trying to shake himself out of his stupor. "What?"
Steve's eyebrows climb practically to his hairline and he rolls his eyes with a sarcastic look on his face before sweeping his hand in the general direction of the still unconscious Jason. "A sword? Y'know, sharp, pointy thing that can finish this?" Is this guy for real?
Still looking back at Steve, the guy pulls out a short blade, and Steve looks around to make sure no one is around to witness what he just did. What he is about to do.
His kind don't help hunters. Their literal job is to kill them. If one of the others found out, there would be a target on his back.
Steve turns back to the human, who is back on his feet and still looking at Steve with the same curiosity. It’s tinged with suspicion, his head tilted to the side, eyes scanning over him.
“You’re a vampire.”
Steve snorts. “No duh, Sherlock.”
"You just knocked out one of your own."
"Got it in one. Though it pains me to be associated with scum like him." He toes Jason's head none too gently before using his supernatural speed to grab the human's blade and sever Jason's head from the rest of his useless body before the human can even blink. Jason’s body crumbles to dust right before their eyes and Steve smirks. He likes showing off, sue him.
The human gapes at him, his hand closing around the air where the blade had been seconds ago, but quickly recovers. "What the fuck, dude? This doesn't make any sense. There's no such thing as a good vampire."
"Got that right too. Such a smart human. Want a treat?"
"Oh, look, he's funny. If you're a vampire, why would you help me?"
"I'm bored?"
They stare at each other, playing a weird game of undead chicken.
Instead of indulging this line of question further, Steve says, "You really need to have a backup plan, rookie. You almost ended up being Jason's breakfast."
“Jason?” Eddie asks, but then looks at the pile of ash on the ground. “Ah. Not a very cool vampire name. You guys don’t make up something better after…?” After gesturing to Steve Eddie brings his fingers up to mimic fangs. Steve scrunches his nose and shakes his head.
This conversation has already gone on too long for Steve’s comfort. “Okay, I’m out of here. Just - cover your ass better next time, okay? I’m not saving it again.”
“I don’t need you to save my ass.”
Steve looks down where Jason's body was moments ago. "Uh huh.”
“Hey, I had it handled,” Eddie bites out.
Steve snorts. “Whatever helps you sleep, rookie.”
“Stop calling me that. I’m not a rookie.”
Steve turns towards the human, eyeing him up and down. “I will when you stop acting like one.”
Before the human can answer, Steve leaves. He’s already stayed around far longer than he should have, and done far more than any vampire would for a human. Especially a hunter.

Gripping the heavy bat in his hands, Steve contemplates his life choices for the millionth time.
To truly understand the angst, a little background is necessary. See, Steve’s a supernatural hunter and the bat is his weapon of choice. It’s covered in pure silver nails that are both werewolf resistant (though terribly ineffective when actually fighting them) and perfect for smashing demogorgons to pieces. It’s not the dream job that Steve dream of as a kid, but it’s his life’s work and he takes it seriously.
And what a life that is. Steve’s constantly on guard, never sleeping, always roaming the streets of Hawkins at night looking for a fight. It’s his penance for letting Nancy die all those years ago when the Upside Down first made its way into Steve’s life – the shit storm that followed is the main reason Steve’s still swinging his bat to this day.
There’s a reason why the people of Hawkins don’t know anything about the creatures that go bump in the night; Steve Harrington takes care of them before anyone’s the wiser.
Well, that’s not entirely true. Steve’s got a partner who’s fickle at best but there for him when he needs it. They run their whereabouts and potential enemies through the town’s sheriff, Jim Hopper. He’s the one that initially recruited Steve for the job. In those moments following the news about Nancy’s death, Steve would’ve said yes to anything. While he loves being the town’s guardian, the job is a lot more dramatic and scary than is good for any person. Hopper never explained that part during his recruiting spiel.
Steve’s been especially on guard since Robin got taken three months ago. Ever since that mission, that still to this day reads like a trap they walked right into, Robin hasn’t been the same. She’s short with him, even more so than before. With so few people in his life that Steve cares about, it’s a little heartbreaking to watch Robin pull away from him. He’s caught in that line of thinking when Eddie Munson comes into his life.
Their first meeting is a horrendous thing that Steve wishes he could take back. Mere minutes post demodog chase, Steve’s sweating profusely, a smear of black blood covers his cheeks. He’s just getting his heart rate to settle when the squeak of the park’s swing has him on guard all over again. Holding his bat to his chest, Steve turns the grip over in his hands – he needs to stay loaded like a spring to wield his weapon effectively. Steve tells himself that over and over again in hopes of warding off the anxiety that he knows the habit is actually from.
A soft breath leaves his lips at the sight of a long haired boy sitting on the furthest swing in the set. There’s a fluorescent light above him, though it does little to actually help Steve put a face to the name. Cautiously, Steve takes a couple of steps closer, trying to be as quiet as possible. It’s all for naught, though. The brunette turns to look over at Steve with an eerie smile. “I come in peace,” the boy says, taking his hands off the metal chains on either side of the swing to raise them in surrender.
The closer Steve gets, the more he allows his guard to drop. There’s no distinguishing characteristics of the stranger that merit his worry. He’s just a gorgeous boy on an innocent swing. Little by little, Steve relinquishes his tight grip on the bat. His fingers throb as they unclench and blood starts to flow back into them. There’s enough tingling there for Steve to take his right hand off the bat completely to shake it out. When he’s done, he looks up with a sheepish smile. “Sorry, I get a little paranoid at night.” It's a silly thing to say to someone he’s threatened with a nail covered bat but it’s all he has. The stranger doesn’t seem to mind, anyway.
That evening, Steve spends hours on the swings for the first time in years. He learns the stranger’s name is Eddie, that he’s new in town living with an estranged uncle after his parent passed. He’s handsome and clever and so beautiful that Steve wants to run away. The only other time in his life that a thought like that ran through his head, the girl in question died a couple of nights later. Still, it’s nice to soar through the air and talk to someone who’s not lecturing him about safety or boiling down a supernatural species to its most important bullet points. Eddie leaves him a little before dawn – Steve thinks nothing of the fact that the sun starts to come up a few minutes later.
Right around the time Eddie walks into Steve’s life to distract him, small things begin to happen around town. Neighborhood dogs and cats go missing each night. People start to report memory loss and sleep walking that has no prior precedence. Steve ignores it all until Hopper brings up a handful of people who checked into the ER with puncture marks on their necks. Though he’s seen a lot of things in his young life, Steve’s never been exposed to vampires, or whatever it is they’re dealing with. For some reason, blood sucking is harder to believe than anything the Upside Down spat out and threw at them.
Steve becomes a believer during his nightly patrol a couple of nights later. He and Robin are joking about something Joyce said to Hopper to make their usually stoic boss laugh when a pale, lifeless looking thing sprints at them. They’re close the park where he first met Eddie, so Steve pushes the thing in that direction until there’s enough light to actually make the fight fair. He sees the fangs right before they dig into his forearm. Steve’s just quick enough to roll out of the way and come up swinging. The thing hits the ground with a satisfying crunch. The victory is short lived – Steve now knows what the town’s problem is. Vampires, shiny fangs and all, were moving in.
Knowing he needs back up, Steve collects all of the young kids that constantly chomp at the bit to work with Steve and Robin. Both Hopper and his wife come with kids who are just as obsessed as the two of them are with all things supernatural and scary. It’s disturbingly easy to talk Dustin and the rest of the group into helping him track down the night walkers. In many ways, it’s a little too easy – but Steve pushes past his worries in favor of training the kids up right so he’s not responsible for their deaths, too.
In the spare moments Steve nabs for himself, Eddie is all he can think about. They meet up almost every night after Steve’s done training or making his rounds. Sometimes they sit on the balcony outside of Steve’s room, but mostly, Eddie walks with Steve through town when he’s restless or overworked to the point where sleep is never going to come. They share stories and secrets and Steve grows fonder of him every single day. His feelings make him blind – he allows himself to clench onto the thing that feels so right in favor of not noticing Eddie’s pale skin and affinity for never showing his face in the sunlight.
It isn’t until Will Byer’s, Joyce’s youngest son, joins the group that Steve starts to become suspicious. He’s heard the name that Will brings up in one of their late night meetings before – Kas is a character that Hopper underlined multiple times in his notes, missives… even the stupid D&D book he made Steve read when all the fun began. It rings a bell in Steve’s head that’s so loud it’s hard to focus on anything else. He’s missing something and that’s never good.
Turns out, he’s crushing on the Upside Down’s second in command. After leaving the group and going off on his own, Steve searches out the name Kas with a manic vigor. He’s determined to understand why his entire body feels like it’s on fire with familiarity. The long hours of the night lead him down a rabbit hole that makes his stomach drop down to his toes – finding out the truth has never been so bittersweet. Eddie, the beautiful boy with pale skin and shocking yellow eyes and hair like shiny silk is Kas the Ancient. Not only is Steve the ultimate asshole, falling for the enemy, he’s an idiot, too. From the beginning, Steve’s eagerness to please and overwhelming crush has led Eddie or Kas or whoever the hell he is through every obstacle Steve put before him. He’s his own worst enemy in this situation.
Determined to remedy that, Steve comes up with a plan to lure Eddie out close to sunrise to trap him. He’s not sure about Eddie’s ability to be out in the sun but the timing of his exit every evening speaks volumes. It’s a hail mary pass that Steve’s 98% isn’t going to work. Except, it goes off without a hitch. Robin plays her part perfectly and Eddie, well, he comes with them willingly. That in and of itself sets of warning bells, but Steve ignores them. He’s too hungry for answers to his questions to notice the meaningful eye contact happening between Eddie and Robin.
His heart breaks a little at the sight of Robin undoing Eddie’s bindings. She waits until they’re in the small cabin Steve always uses for his interrogations, then reveals herself to be the ultimate betrayer. She spends a few minutes talking about the attack that almost killed her and how Eddie, the giving vampire that he is, saved her from that fate. She goes on to call him dense and an idiot – he went six months without ever noticing something was wrong. Steve wants to defend himself, to say that he’s trusted Robin implicitly. He’s not dumb enough to make himself look even more stupid, however – Steve bites his tongue before anymore of his pathetic actions make themselves known.
The biggest shock of all comes when Eddie, instead of killing Steve like he believes the vampire is going to do, pulls Steve to his chest, instead. There’s a rumble, a sound that’s sort of like a purr, that happens the second their chests touch. Steve feels it, too, the contentment of being in Eddie’s arms. It’s wrong, so damn wrong to be comforted by someone who killed many people and made a backstabber out of his best friend, but Steve can’t help it. He finds out why a moment later when Eddie draws back with a gleam in his eye. “After thousands of years, I’ve finally found you,” he says, reaching his cold hands up to palm both of Steve’s cheeks, “my beautiful mate.”

"Is he a vampire?"
All I'm saying is the last time Steve pointed something out and it was dismissed by the people he was with...he was right that is was important...

Um excuse me?! I’d read 10000000 words of this! 😱

I can not stop thinking about this art by Jenifer Prince.
This isn't a full fic ofc but I'm adding tags anyway: Sapphic Steddie, vampire Eddie Munson, Vampire hunter Stevie Harrington, blood play, knife play (you know, the good shit).
No pressure tags for @pearynice @finalmoondragon @klausinamarink @hellion-child @stervrucht and as always anyone else who wants to join who hasn't been tagged yet.
This is long but hopefully worth it. 😌
Tumblr media
I can't stop thinking about Stevie. Maybe she's still a monster hunter, on a mission to take down a vampire who's said to be killing people for fun in the city.
Maybe she signs on as a dancer, where she can keep an eye on things.
Maybe she notices Eddie keeping an eye on her, too. Which is a good thing, it's what she's there for. Cut the head off of the metaphorical snake, the rest of it crumbles down, too, right?
Stevie doesn't expect to enjoy being called to Eddie's office for private shows. Doesn't expect the way those dark eyes track her movements to make her ache with want.
She tells herself that her desire is just a weird vampire thing. She's definitely not into this woman who trades insults as often as she doles out compliments about what a pretty thing she has in her arms.
We get sort of spicy under the cut
It's harder to deny when Eddie gets her spread out on her desk the first time, legs draped over her shoulders. Eddie devours her, uses her tongue and her fingers and has Stevie crying with how badly she needs to come. Just when she feels like she's getting ready to lose her mind sharp teeth find the juncture of her thigh.
Stevie realizes Eddie's drinking from her, and she comes harder than she ever has before, screaming the other woman's name and holding on to those dark curls.
One time might be an accident. It stops being an accident when it keeps happening. Stevie is supposed to be there to kill Eddie, not to let the other woman fuck her on every surface in her office. She does, though. Gladly.
Stevie's bosses start coming down on her, tell her they're starting to suspect she's not actually trying to get the job done. Stevie doesn't want to but has to admit they're right.
She means to kill Eddie. Really, she does. Eddie just finds the knife first, when she's hiking Stevie's skirt up around her waist.
The vampire doesn't even question it. She traces the blade, lets it nick her thumb. Spreads the blood on Stevie's lower lip before licking it away.
Maybe it makes sense that Eddie doesn't end up dead, that the freak is into it. Maybe it makes sense that Stevie ends up riding her strap instead, coming so many times she's delirious.
Or maybe that's from blood loss from Eddie leaving shallow cuts across her skin only to drink from them until the bleeding stops again.
Maybe Stevie's a little bit of a freak, too.

WIP Weekend
YES! help me catch up from being away and not writing for a WHOLE WEEK!
tagged by @momotonescreaming and @cranberrymoons thanks!! ❤️ i love wip weekend and i'm ready to WORK
The Rules
In a reblog of this post (so people can find you in the notes) or new thread (w/ rules attached) if you want to play on your own, post up to five (5) filenames of your WIPs; not titles, file names.
Post a snippet from one of them. Snippet must be words you wrote in the last 7 days. We’re posting progress here. If you haven’t made any, go make some and come back to play!
After you’ve posted, people can send you an ask with one of your file names. You must then write 3 sentences in that file. If the filename is one you can't share from (for example, an event or gift fic), write 3 sentences on it anyway, and then 3 more on another to share.
That’s it! You can invite others to join in, or just post.
The Files
Anita Blake - Guilty Pleasures but it's steddie (SHVH)
dnd campaign au (Life is a Game)
No Vacancy - Steddie/Buckingham
goddamn summer camp fic I blame you discord
magical mystery gift fic (which i won't post snippets from but do not mind being encouraged to work on!)
The Snippet (from chapter 12 of SHVH)
Oh god, he was so wrong.

only a matter of time (steddie holiday drabble, steddie microfic, whumpcember)
For @steddieholidaydrabbles day 17, ‘lights’ @steddiemicrofic December prompt, ‘time,’ and @whumpcember day 17 prompt, ‘greatest fear.’
WC: 485, Rating: M pushing E; CW: character undeadness (vampires), Steve has self worth issues; tags: established steddie, vampire Eddie, new vampire Steve, angst, sex, dark undertones, hopeful-ish ending. Summary: Eddie needs to drink from Steve to survive without killing others. But he always has to stop in time, which Steve's enthusiasm makes tricky… Thank you to @mugloversonly for inspirational chats, though I'm not quite there yet...
❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️
Before Eddie ‘turned’ him, darkness was Steve’s living hell. He sweated, sleepless, watching the clock every night.
Eddie was out there, hunting and being hunted. Once Hawkins learned the ‘freak’ had joined the undead hordes, he topped every hit-list.
Hilarious, really.
Eddie wasn’t a natural-born killer, though vampires must drink from the vein. That first morning he’d returned—fangs dripping blood, skin snow-white, eyes horror-stricken—Steve offered himself instantly. Afterward, Eddie needed to hunt slightly less. Steve, meanwhile, trusted Eddie to stop in time, not drink him dry.
That night, Eddie fucked Steve.
It was so freakin’ hot—Eddie moving inside him, hard as steel, skin frosty, the lube like slippery ice. When Eddie’s fangs pierced his throat, he bit the damp pillow, petted Eddie’s hair, then giggled, kinda hysterical. Like this, he always felt… Jesus, he felt loved. Crazy! Meanwhile, Eddie screwed him to hell… heaven… who cared? Eddie’s soft lips, his pumping, pulsating everything devoured Steve, whose heart slowed, head woolly, muscles tightening, a sicky, swooping feeling in his guts.
Then Eddie… withdrew.
Like, had he even come yet?  Steve had the fucking jitters when he hadn’t the energy to jitter, so he giggled again. Act like you don’t care, Harrington… Floating in the dark, he mumbled, “Chug, chug, chug." He's High School keg-king again, surfing that adrenaline rush, belly-flopping hard. But that moron was dead. Eddie needed him. Back then, nobody really needed him.
“Drink, Babe,” he murmured, flailing blindly for Eddie, finding him with an accidental back-hand blow and dragging his face to his throat with all he’d gotten left. “Chug… chug… ch…”
Eddie kissed him, weeping, as Steve’s lips turned to ice.
Turned out, Steve sucked at being a vampire and could only drink from Eddie. Humiliating. Now, Eddie hunted for two. Steve smelled the corpses, piling up near their cabin in the woods.
Eddie’s hilariously tragic eyes grew more haunted every day. Each night, Steve begged Eddie to fuck him, doggy-style, waking up his cold body. Then Steve would straddle Eddie’s lap and ride him, fists clenching and tearing at Eddie’s raven-black hair. He drained Eddie’s veins, because it was all he could digest. Chug, chug, chug! He gorged himself stupid then mauled Eddie’s mouth with bloody kisses.
Steve now feared everything that took Eddie from him. Even Christmas lights. Dumb, huh? But while town's so bright at night, why'd Eddie come home to waste-of-space Steve? Steve loved him, though. With all his cold, dead heart.
“I’ll never ditch you!” Eddie yelled one night, when Steve shouted at him to run, alone, before vampire-hunters found them. “Listen, I heard they’re working on a cure. It’s only a matter of time.”
“Eddie! I won’t let you d—”
Eddie kissed him tenderly, cupping his face. “We’ll find somewhere better to hide the bodies. You are my light, Steve. You die, I die… again.”
Steve smirked. Okay, death was worth living.  "Love you too, idiot."

Hunter and Prey
Part 2 (Part 1) and more to come!
Eddie never thought he would end up here.
Sure, he always knew he'd stay with Wayne, even through the occasional dreams of getting out of this shithole of a town. Staying here, with Wayne and Chrissy, was something he had imagined when he thought about the future, but he never thought his life would become this. Growing up, vampires and werewolves and swamp monsters were figments of people's imaginations. Stories to be told around the campfire. The right stuff for movies and books, but too scary (or campy) to be real. The Munson Doctrine was pretty clear on this.
That is, until Eddie walks in on an actual vampire sucking the life out of his best friend his senior year. He's not proud that his first reaction was to freeze in absolute horror, his mind rejecting what was happening right in front of him. Chrissy was lying motionless, a tall guy with dirty blond hair leaning over her, his teeth prolonged into fangs and dark blood dripping from his mouth. Eddie's body felt numb, but he stumbled over to Chrissy as fast as his shaky legs could carry him and tried to help her, but nothing he did would dislodge the vampire. It actually seemed like the bastard thought it was funny.
Just as Eddie was about to go into full panic mode, ready to do something probably very stupid, the doors to the gym slammed loudly open. Both the vampire's and Eddie's heads whipped around in perfect harmony at the sound, something he would have found hilarious under any other circumstances. Before Eddie knew what was happening, the vampire gasped, a choked sound of utter surprise, and clutched at his chest, where a stake protruded from where Eddie thought his heart must be.
Right in front of Eddie's eyes, the vampire made one last garbled sound before simply turning to ash. Eddie slowly looked up from where a monster of the night had just been feasting on his best friend to a tall, broad man holding a crossbow at eye level.
"What the —" Before Eddie could finish the thought, Chrissy started coughing and his attention was drawn back to helping his friend. The man walked over to them, watching as Eddie pulled off his shirt and pressed it to the wound at Chrissy's throat. After a long moment, he said, "She'll be all right, son. Probably saved her life."
And that was the moment that changed his life forever. The man who introduced himself as Hopper helped him bandage and clean Chrissy, and in the process opened his eyes to a world he never dreamed existed.
His earlier run-in with the strangely helpful vampire made him think about that day. He had to remind himself that this was the true nature of vampires. They don't help humans out of the goodness of their unbeating hearts. They are soulless predators. He'd do well to remember that.
"You got everything, son?" Wayne asks, filling a large pitcher of water from the sink.
"Yeah, I think so." Eddie watches as Wayne finishes filling the pitcher, then picks up a worn book, muttering under his breath over the water. Meanwhile, Eddie checks to make sure he has everything he needs, patting himself down to do a quick inventory. Wayne fills the assortment of water pistols on the table with the holy water he just consecrated and hands them to Eddie. Eddie holsters the guns. Wayne's eyes roam over him, double-checking that he's got everything he needs.
"Hey," Eddie says, drawing Wayne's attention to his face and putting a hand on his shoulder. "I'll be fine, Uncle Wayne. These leeches won't know what hit them." He punctuates the statement with a broad grin.
Wayne huffs with a small smile, but Eddie sees the twitch in his eyebrows. "You better, son. Remember, if you get even an inklin’ that things might head into something unsavory, you call —”
"You and Hop, I know, I know," Eddie interrupts. Wayne smiles at him, but it doesn't reach his eyes. Eddie knows how much it stresses Wayne out to see Eddie put his life on the line like this, but Wayne also knows how important it is for Eddie to go out night after night. "Batten down the hatches and I'll be back soon."
"Just come back in one piece and with all the blood still in your veins, 'kay?"
Eddie gives Wayne a two-finger salute, backs up to the door, and pushes it open. Wayne follows him as Eddie steps through it and into the night, watching as he gets farther and farther away, the darkness quickly consuming him.

Well Met By Moonlight Part 8
And we're back! Are you guys getting my tags, the engagement dropped again. I know that in America there was the holiday but it kinda dropped off before that and I saw other blogs that didn't have their tags work at all. So let me know if you aren't seeing all my posts.
Steve talks to Keith, learns some unsettling news and Robin is awesome.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7
****
Billy Hargrove was a racist, chauvinistic asshole with a savior complex longer than his dick, but he was also one hundred times the better man than Dr. Martin Brenner. Granted Brenner was scraping the bottom of the ocean, but Steve was grateful for not having had to deal with him when he was around.
He also knew that he wasn’t going to speak to the Dominus today. He was going to speak to his second in command, Keith Prince.
He didn’t like Steve, and Steve didn’t know why. But considering that despite the last name, he looked more like a toad than a prince, Steve had a pretty good idea the dude was just jealous of Steve’s good looks.
He walked up to the coven, bare ass on display, having just shifted.
“The fuck do you want, Harrington?” Keith snarled. “And why can’t you come dressed like decent folk?”
“Because I’m a werewolf, Keith,” Steve sighed. “The fastest way for me to travel is to wolf out.”
Keith rolled his eyes. “You could always send Carol or Robin to do your dirty work. That is what keepers are for, aren’t they?”
“That’s isn’t happening in this or any life time,” Steve growled. “Not after you propositioned Robin the last time I sent her here on pack business.”
Keith just sneered. “What. Do. You. Want? I’m busy!”
Steve sighed. “Tell your Dominus that we may have the public school system to blame for the raise in hunters and to ask his thralls what they’ve heard.”
Keith scoffed. “He already knows about that shit and they don’t know nothin’.”
Steve’s spine stiffened at the tone and the fact that Billy already knew about the thing with Josh.
So either he had Lucy in his pocket, or there was a spy in his pack. Neither was an option he wanted to entertain.
Steve showed his teeth, forcing Keith to back down.
“You shouldn’t lie to an alpha, dumbass,” he snarled. “I can smell the stench of the lie coming off you like stale weed. You tell your Dominus that if he thinks he can push me around, remind him what happened to the last asshole who crossed me.”
Keith straightened up and bowed his head. “My apologies, alpha.”
Steve snapped his jaw at Keith before shifting back into a wolf. A wolf that could look Keith in the eye. He showed his teeth again and was gratified when he smelled the scent of urine wafting from the vampire.
He leapt through the door, leaving the scent of urine, lies, and fear far behind him.
*
Steve came back in time to see Josh off to his parents. He watched as Josh chatted happily with them over everything he did.
“…Did you know that a single werewolf could eat up to thirty pounds of meat a day? But not raw, that’s a myth...” Josh prattled on, his parents giving each other amused glances behind his back.
Steve turned to Tommy, the keeper that was hiding in the crow’s nest near the entrance.
“It sounded like he had fun,” he said, as Tommy leapt down in front him.
“Carol wanted to straight up adopt him,” Tommy said with a sneer.
“She always did have a soft spot for strays,” Steve murmured as Tommy fell instep next to him. “Especially strays that love shopping.”
Tommy nose twitched. “You went to that vampire mongrel’s again, didn’t you? I can smell him from here.”
Steve smacked Tommy’s head. “He’s not a mongrel just because he was made instead of born. Where are you kids getting these ideas? Jesus Christ.”
He snorted. “Whatever, I can still smell him.”
“I saw the mayor and visited the coven too,” Steve said dryly. “I was doing my duties as an alpha. There is something wrong in this town and I am going to figure out what.”
Tommy sniffed again. “Yeah, I get it. I don’t want Hopper back as the alpha anymore then most of this pack, so you better figure it out, before you get yourself killed.”
Steve pushed him playfully. “Shut it, Tommy!”
Tommy laughed. “I bet I can beat you to the center, no shifting.”
“You’re on!”
*
Steve was in his hut? Cottage? Living structure? He was never sure what to call all the little houses that was in the compound. Hell, he didn’t even like the word compound, really. It felt cult-ish. Which they weren’t.
Werewolves had tried living in towns for millennia and it never worked out well for the werewolves. They would get blamed for everything from failed crops, high infant mortality rates, and plagues.
So they started forming their own communities inside towns. Much like the Vatican and Italy.
Well whatever anyone called them, it was home.
Steve was at home, playing cards with Robin.
“So what did you think of Josh today?” he asked, drawing a card.
“I bet Tommy whined about it all the way back to the center of camp,” Robin said with a scoff.
“It’s actually fucking ridiculous how much the pack is so...so...” he threw his hands in the air frustration. “Fuck I don’t know the right word for it. But click-ee?”
“Clicky?” Robin asked. “What the hell does that mean?”
“You know, a click,” Steve said. “The jocks, the cowboys, the goths, the freaks. A click.”
“Ohhh...” she said. “A clique.”
Steve frowned. “Isn’t that what I just said?”
Robin half shrugged. “Sort of. But yeah, I’ll agree to the pack becoming more and more cliquey. It’s become very insular since...” she paused to think. “Actually I don’t when it started, but it’s recent. I just can’t tell you how recent.”
Steve hummed. “It’s becoming a problem and one I don’t know how to fix. I mean Josh and Chance here will help not only them realize that we aren’t monsters, but that regular humans aren’t monsters either.”
Robin nodded. “It’s certainly a step in the right direction. You need to get out more in the community. Do Q&As at the town hall and middle school.”
Steve scratched his cheek thoughtfully. He placed all his cards down. “Out.”
“Skunked again!” Robin shrieked. “How are you so good at this game?”
Steve just shrugged. “Why not elementary schools?” She stared at him blankly. “For the whole Q&A thing.”
“Oh, that,” she said, waving her hand. “Because despite there being an actual werewolf in the school no teacher or parent would agree to you speaking to kids that young.”
Steve sighed. She was probably right. “’K, so middle schools and town halls help with the community at large but what about the pack?”
She just shrugged. “That’s something you should really talk to your alpha female about, you know.” She scooped up the cards and began shuffling them.
Steve sighed. He did know. But he also knew that Nancy was still very much a conservative when it came to pack dynamics. She had actually turned him down twice because she felt that the alphas should be mated.
It wasn’t until Steve asked her and she couldn’t come up with a logical, non-sexist reason why that should be the case that she accepted the role.
“I love her dearly,” he said instead. “But I just kinda want to spit ball some ideas with you that I can take to her. So I don’t look stupid.”
Robin shoved his shoulder playfully. “She doesn’t think you’re stupid.”
Steve scoffed. She really, really did.
“Okay,” Robin conceded. “Maybe a little.”
“There is also the little matter of the spy,” Steve grumbled.
Robin grimaced and chewed her bottom lip. “You know it’s Tommy, right? Please tell me you know it’s Tommy.”
Steve frowned. “No. Why would it be Tommy?”
She sighed and scooted close to him. “Steve, he’s been hanging on Billy’s coattails at school. He’s always talking about how great Billy is on and off the court. Hell, if I thought Billy liked boys I wouldn’t be surprised to learn Tommy was sucking his dick.”
Steve ran his fingers through his hair. “But I need to make sure. I just can’t go accusing people without proof.”
“I don’t think you should accuse him at all.”
Steve reared back in confusion. “What do you mean?”
“I mean, dingus,” Robin said slyly. “You make sure to tell Tommy things you know you want Billy to know. Because a spy you know is better than one you don’t.”
Steve gave her a big hug. “I wish you were my alpha female.”
She hugged him back. “I know.”
“Have you thought about asking for the bite when you turn eighteen?”
She shuffled back a bit and put her hands on her knees and then nodded. “Yeah. I’ve talked to my parents about it. They’re uneasy about having a werewolf for a daughter.”
Steve sighed. “I’m sorry. Maybe the town hall meetings and the Q&As with kids will help.”
She nodded.
“Thanks, Steve.”
He kissed her cheek. “Between you and I we are going to change the world.”
She looked at him shyly. “You really think so?”
“I know so.”
Robin pushed his shoulder again. “You are such a sap.”
Steve laughed. “Yes, but you knew that.”
She looked at the scar on his neck and then reached out to touch it. “I’m sorry they did that to you.”
He shivered at her touch. “I don’t mind it.”
“I do, Steve,” she said fiercely. “They hurt you because they were afraid of you.”
He sighed. “When my parents died, the Franklins were the only ones in town willing to take me in. The only people who knew about the silver collar they made me wear was just the three of us until I turned eighteen.”
“How did no one else know?” Robin asked gently.
“I only wore it when they were home at home,” Steve murmured. “I wasn’t forced to wear it at school. Just at home where I ‘might’ hurt them.”
“It’s still cruel.”
Steve just shrugged.
“Whatever happened to them?” she asked after a moment or two of awkward silence.
“Officially or unofficially?” Steve asked with a smirk.
“There’s an official story?” Robin said eagerly.
He laughed. “Sure is. They are currently on a business trip to...” he looked at his watch, “Tokyo, Japan.”
“What the hell?” she gasped excitedly. “What’s the real story?”
“Only Wayne and I know where their bodies are buried.”
Robin giggled and kicked her feet. “That’s amazing!”
Steve smiled at her fondly. She really was his platonic soulmate.
