Lekker verwarrend allemaal. . Waar het in ieder geval bij een blanket license om gaat, is dat er een licentie wordt uitgegeven waarmee een muziekgebruiker (bijvoorbeeld een radiostation of café) alle #muziek openbaar mag maken (bijvoorbeeld muziek af te spelen) die onder het aangemelde #repertoire van de collectieve beheersorganisatie vallen. . #Muziekuitgevers sluiten soms ook op individuele basis blanket licenses met bijvoorbeeld productiemaatschappijen, zodat een tv-zender bijvoorbeeld de gehele #muziekcatalogus mag gebruiken voor #syncs tegen een vooraf afgesproken tarief. Dit scheelt beide partijen namelijk veel onderhandeltijd en -kosten en het kan voor meer inkomsten zorgen voor de aangesloten artiesten. . Coversongs - heb ik toestemming nodig van de auteursrechthebbenden?

Voor het opnemen of uitvoeren van de akkoorden, zanglijn en liedtekst van een bestaand liedje waarop nog auteursrechten rusten is er altijd toestemming nodig van alle betrokken rechthebbenden. Dat zijn de componist, tekstdichter en de uitgever. Voorafgaande toestemming bij het coveren, bewerken of vertalen van een bestaand liedje is de hoofdregel. Dat volgt uit de Auteurswet. Hoe die toestemming in de praktijk precies tot stand komt is vers twee.

Kan ik die cover vervolgens op streamingdienst Spotify zetten?

Spotify heeft in Nederland afspraken met Buma/Stemra en met publishers gemaakt over covers. Het moet dan wel een 1 op 1 100% dezelfde versie zijn. Die afspraken, met een moeilijk woord licenties, maken het mogelijk dat artiesten een cover van een bekend popliedje op Spotify zetten, zonder dat zij daarvoor van te voren toestemming hoeven te vragen aan de componist en de tekstdichter.

Artiesten moeten dan wel bij het uploaden van de track aangeven wie de oorspronkelijke bedenkers zijn van een liedje. Zodat die bedenkers geld ontvangen voor hun auteursrechten
