A/N: This is a different kind of request/fic from what I've written for OC so far but I was pretty intrigued by it so I decided to give it a go. Not opening requests for daughter fics at the moment still because I’m not sure how this turned out yet so let me know what you guys think!
STELLARIDE MASTERLIST
You looked up from where you’d been playing with the food on your plate, only to catch Stella smile at your father who was sitting next to you.
Resisting the urge to make a face, you turned to look at him. “Can I be excused?”
Kelly gave a small sigh and turned to look at you, looking like he wanted to say something and then deciding against it, merely nodding. “Yeah, go on.”
You gave his girlfriend a last withering look before you took your plate back into the kitchen.
Kelly suppressed an audible sigh before he looked back at Stella. “Sorry.”
Stella smiled and shook her head. “She just needs some time.”
You rolled your eyes and headed back to your room, plopping yourself down on your bed and staring up at your ceiling.
It wasn’t really that you didn’t like Stella. Hell, you’d been okay with her before you found out she was dating your father.
As far as daughters went, you were sure that you were at least three times more protective over your father than your classmates were about their own parents.
Maybe it had something to do with the fact that you only ever had Kelly growing up. You’d overheard countless discussions about people telling him that it was hard being a single parent especially with his job but whatever anyone said, and however Kelly had felt from the first time he’d found out he’d had a daughter and come to get you, Kelly had stuck it out with you.
Over the years, especially once you were older, you’d seen many girlfriends come and go - some didn’t want commitment, some ran the moment they found out about you, some just… didn’t make it. It didn’t matter that Kelly had seemed fine with everything. You were not, so all that had done was make you even more protective over him.
So when you’d found out about Stella, you’d felt your hackles raise.
Logically, you knew Stella had done nothing to deserve this but your 15 year old brain couldn’t seem to override the emotion with logic.
You lay there for a while more until there was a knock on your door and Kelly poked his head in.
“Hey kiddo. Can we talk?”
You sat up but didn’t give him an answer because you knew very well what he wanted to talk about and you weren’t sure you wanted to hear it.
Kelly came in anyway, pulling out the chair at your desk and sitting across from you.
“Will you give Stella a break?”
You looked up with a look of protest and Kelly held up a hand.
“I know.” Kelly said in a low voice, giving you a small smile to show you he wasn’t mad. “Just lighten up a little and give her a chance. That’s all I’m asking.”
You didn’t say anything but Kelly let out a chuckle as you pursed your lips. “Go easy.”
He pressed a kiss to the top of your head before patting your hair affectionately and leaving the room.
You pulled your jacket tighter around you, glancing behind you.
You hadn’t meant to let it get so late but you’d gotten a little too immersed in your notes and lost track of time. Other than the wind blowing against your back and making you shiver, you hadn’t realized how quiet the road from your friend’s house was.
You kind of regretted not calling Kelly to come and get you, but you also didn’t relish the idea of waiting here so you’d forged on, telling yourself you’d walked this street thousands of times.
But now, you were pretty sure someone was following you, hearing the echoing footsteps behind you.
Damn it.
Your hands that were jammed into your pockets closed around your phone but you were also worried things would escalate so you picked up your pace instead.
You heard the footsteps behind you match the increase in your speed and just as you thought you should break into a run, you were yanked backwards and unable to maintain your balance, you tumbled onto the concrete pavement, feeling the concrete scrape against your skin.
Your head snapped upwards, feeling your heart fall straight into your gut when you looked back into the face of the man that now towered over you.
It was a stranger, not a face you remembered seeing, but his lips ticked upwards in a smile that flipped your stomach over and your gut feeling as well as every nerve in your body was screaming at you to get up and run.
Flight.
You scrambled to your feet, slowly moving backwards as he now stepped towards you. His movements had slowed, like a predator that had just cornered his prey.
He took another step towards you and with well chosen timing, you brought your knee up swiftly, just like how Kelly had taught you.
Winded, the man bent over but not before letting out a growl.
You didn’t stick around long enough to find out what he had to say, your legs already moving before your brain realized you were running.
The wind blowing against you was painful but you didn’t dare stop because you weren’t sure if he was on your heels.
You turned the corner, sparing a glance back and collided straight into someone.
“Sorry.” You panted, glancing up.
“Y/N?” Stella looked surprised to see you before her expression switched to one of concern. “What’s wrong?”
Stella glanced up at the empty street behind you and then looked back at you. “You okay?”
You really didn’t have the energy for anything else. You just really needed an adult. You glanced up at her without talking and Stella reached for your hand.
When you didn’t pull away, Stella squeezed. “Do you want me to take you home?”
You shook your head quickly. “No. Wait. I just… I don’t want Dad to see me like this.”
Stella studied you for just a second more before she nodded. “My apartment’s just around the corner. Why don’t you come and have something at my place and we can talk? If you want to.”
You hesitated for just a second but you were still kind of spooked so you nodded, letting her lead you back down from where she came from, not even realizing your hand was still in hers.
Stella wasn’t exaggerating when she said her apartment was around the corner.
Within five minutes, you were seated on Stella’s couch, a cup of hot tea in your hands while you found yourself telling her what happened.
It was weird - you’d expected Stella to maybe pat your shoulders a little to reassure you that things would be fine before trying to convince you to call Kelly so he could come and get you. She wouldn't be the first girlfriend to hand you back over to your father as soon as she could.
But the emotions on Stella’s face as you told her were new to you - looks of concern, before outrage and then… if you didn’t know any better, you’d think she was upset.
You fell quiet after a while and Stella scooted a little closer to you.
“Alright, Y/N, listen.” Stella said and you looked up at her. “We have to report this.”
You looked back down again, your index fingers twirling together even though you were still holding the mug.
“I’ll come with you.” Stella paused. “If you’ll let me.”
You looked up again and nodded quietly. "You… You’d do that?”
You registered a look of surprise on Stella’s face before she next spoke. “Of course, Y/N.”
“Can we not call my dad yet?”
There was a small silence and you held back a sigh. You knew what would happen if your father found out about this. Other than the fact that you hated making him worry and that you knew things might get blown up out of proportion with practically everyone getting involved, it was kind of awkward talking to him about some stuff.
Stella glanced at you. “How about we take things one step at a time?”
You bit your lip and Stella nodded encouragingly at you. “Let’s go to the district and then when you’re ready, we can call Kelly alright?”
You nodded quietly, taking another sip of tea before Stella smiled. “Ready?”
You got up and Stella grabbed an extra coat off her coat hanger, draping it around your shoulders.
Stella had been told to wait outside while you gave your statement to the uniformed police officer sitting across from you but you were regretting this with each question the officer asked you.
“What were you doing out so late?”
“Is this what you normally wear to school?
You were done with the insinuations in his voice and tone. You were 15, not an idiot. You knew exactly where this was going and you’d been around your father’s friends long enough to pick some stuff up.
You stood all of a sudden, the nails digging into your palms in an effort not to let the angry tears out. “I’m not answering any more questions.”
“What do you…”
You didn’t let him finish his sentence, opening the door and stalking out.
As promised, Stella was right outside, glancing up as you walked out, reading the expression on your face instantly.
“You okay?”
You pulled Stella’s jacket tighter around yourself. “I just want to go home.”
Stella frowned, glancing up at the officer that was now outside the room as well. “You still have to answer a few questions. You can’t just…”
You didn’t move and Stella looked back down at you. “Y/N?”
“He hasn’t asked me a single question about what happened.” You said in a low voice, focusing only on Stella now. “No questions about how the man looked, what street this took place on, how he sounded.”
Stella frowned. Those were enough for her to put together a few pieces of the puzzle.
“Those are necessary questions. We need to know if…”
“Kidd. Y/N.”
You glanced up at a familiar face and Stella patted your back. “Told you I got you.” She whispered in a low voice so only you could hear.
Stella nodded with a smile at Hailey.
Telling the officer she’d take over, Hailey led you back into the room and smiled encouragingly at you.
“Stella called me. Will you tell me what happened?”
It was easier than you’d expected to talk to Hailey but even as you told her what happen, you found yourself internally steeling yourself for a lecture of some sort and you suddenly just really wished Kelly was here.
But Hailey offered no lecture or talking-to. Instead, she treated you like an adult, taking down the information you offered, her questions only revolving around important information she obviously needed, before she closed the book.
“Thank you, Y/N. Here.” Hailey handed you a small bottle and a small device. “Pepper spray and a small panic button.”
You looked up a little surprised and Hailey smiled. “If nothing, maybe it’ll help you feel safer.”
You nodded, keeping the things she handed you and Hailey came around and squeezed your shoulder before taking you out of the room again where Stella was waiting.
“Dad must be worried, I…”
Stella shook her head with a smile. “I told him you’re with me so he wouldn’t. I can call him if you’re ready.”
You felt involuntary tears well up in your eyes before you nodded. "Can you? I... I think I really need him."
Kelly was here in record time, running up the steps of the district as if he’d been waiting nearby in the first place but you didn’t care. The rush of relief and safety when you saw him made you wonder why you hadn’t gone to him immediately anyway.
“Y/N!”
You didn’t say anything, merely shooting off your seat to dive into your father’s arms like you were a child once again.
“You okay? Let me see.” Kelly pulled away just a little to look at you but other than remnants of the startled look in your eyes and new tears ready to spill over, you weren’t really hurt.
Kelly gently pulled you back into his arms and exhaled. “Thank god.”
He was never one for long verbal communications of how much he loved you but you didn’t really need him to tell you. This was even more apparent now as you were huddled in your father’s arms in the middle of a police district.
“You must be starving.” Kelly said after a while, looking down at you to wipe a stray tear off your face. “Why don’t we go get something to eat, hmm?”
You gave a small crooked smile and Kelly looked up, meeting Stella’s eyes.
“I’ll call you tomorrow.” Kelly said with a small apologetic smile at Stella. “Thank you.”
Stella nodded, but you interrupted them. “You’re not coming to eat with us?”
Kelly raised his eyebrows.
“Thought I’d give you two some private time.” Stella said, although she seemed to be weighing the look in your eyes now.
You shrugged. “You can come eat with us, too.”
Kelly glanced between his girlfriend and daughter. “Did something happen?”
You shrugged, lowering your voice. “She’s alright I guess.”
Kelly chuckled, swinging an arm around your shoulders as he led you out of the district. Stella fell into step on your other side and you smiled up at her. “Thank you.” You whispered, fully aware your father could hear you.
Stella smiled. “Thank you, too.”
Kelly just smiled at both his girls as the three of you walked down the empty streets. Together.

A/N: Hey guys so here is a original imagine. I hope everyone enjoys! Please forgive me for any unaccurate dialogue or scenes, I haven’t watched any of the Chicago Shows in like forever. Also the (Stella x Reader) singing part and the song was inspired by a video on tiktok of a mom-daughter duo signing that song at her daughter’s wedding. Sending love 💕

------
Bells were ringing in the city of Chicago; your baby sister Stella was getting married today to, drum roll please…the love of her life Kelly Severide. You were over the moon; your little sister was finally having her happily ever after or so thought everyone.
“Baby I’m leaving I gotta be there in like 30 minutes!” You screamed at your fiancé Jay Halstead -and yes you had met him through Stella and Kelly- over a year ago when you came to Chicago for the first time in forever.
You shared a lot of similarities with Stella for sure, for example when you got pissed-you were unstoppable-. On the contrary while Stella had a soft side which she didn’t show often, you were all sunshine and rainbows -well that’s what trauma does to some people-. You had practically raised your sister, looking out for her, protecting her in any way you could. So today would be especial.
Now Jay had popped the question on your anniversary and 3 months later here you were in your own house -that you had bought together-, about to make sure that your sister walked down that freaking aisle. You heard a noise coming from the bedroom, so you went to check, just to feel a couple of arms wrapping around your waist and being tackled to the bed. Laughter was the only thing that could be heard in your home -home- it felt weird for you to call a place let alone a person home.
“Hey beautiful” Jay said hovering over you kissing your nose, while you giggled. “Hi handsome”
“So…are you really leaving?” he asked pouting like a baby, which made you grab his chin and kiss him, turning you both around so you were straddling him, until you pulled away with a mischievous smile biting your lip. Jay looked at you with a confused expression, just before you to bolted to the front door -you had to leave now, or you wouldn’t leave period-.
“Babe!” you heard him yell from your bedroom, you chuckled, “I love you, but I have to go. We have to make sure they get married” you exclaimed back, watching as he came out of the room slowly, looking at you like you had looked at him minutes ago, that’s when you knew -run-. With that you ran out of the house and into your truck, when you were about to close your door his hand caught it,
“Nope, Miss Kidd, were really you about to leave without giving me love, huh?” he leaned and captured your lips making you sigh, he always had that effect on you. And that made you think, that was why your relationship had worked so well. You both had a way of making the other fall deeply in love every day.
“Love you! See you there” you waved from the inside of your truck to Jay who was on the steps of the house waving back at you, big grin on his face.
You really didn’t have a big part on planning or arranging anything given your sister was a ‘big girl’ who didn’t want her big sisters help. Plus, you were starting to plan your own wedding so when she said she had it handled, it gave you time to focus on yours.
Nonetheless she did need help at one point -obviously, big sis knows best- which was finding the perfect venue which you didn’t hesitate to help arrange. The two of you found a miracle venue at the Crystal’s Garden, done, the location for the Severide-Kidd wedding was set.
Apart from every bump in the path, the wedding was happening today period, point, blank. Stella and Kelly had gone through a lifetime full of crap and you just wanted this day to go according to their plan -because you would do anything for Stella’s happiness, and that was guaranteed-.
You had finished getting ready along with the rest of Stella’s closest friends, and now you were all waiting for the bride to finish. You wore a knee long, thin strap red silk dress with a slit in the right leg -not to revealing, but enough- and some golden heels.
So, to kill some time, you stepped out of the room and into the room Kelly was in, knocking slightly,
“Hey Kelly, its Y/N. Can I come in?” “Yeah…” you stepped inside, and it was just Kelly there, he looked nervous, so you smiled lightly at him,
“You look great sis” at this you smiled “You showered?” which made Kelly shake his head while laughing. You stepped in front of him giving him a massive hug before whispering,
“Take care of her for me, okay?” your voice cracking a bit -god you swore you wouldn’t cry- but here you were about to let the whole storm down. “I will”
“You’re a good man Kelly. And I- I couldn’t be prouder of the both of you” you said about to start bawling which made Kelly give you a sincere smile and a hug, before you left the room to wait for Jay to arrive.
“Hey hon! I’m I late?” “Nope just in time” you said fixing his tie and pulling him by it to give him a kiss, which made him smile into it. You couldn’t wait to have this day with him.
A couple of minutes maybe an hour later, you were all walking towards the wedding venue, you and Silvie were helping Stella with her dress, Matt and Jay were making sure Kelly didn’t see the bride -it was funny- but the fun wouldn’t last forever, because luck was not something the people of Chicago had often -more so the people close to you-.
“Hey, don’t you dare turn around Kelly Severide” Stella said making everyone laugh, “If I hear that one more time this wedding is off” he responded breathing a laugh -you better fucking not- you thought.
“You really want both Kidd’s kicking your ass? Because I won’t get involved man. That would get me sleeping on the couch” Jay said while chuckling, which made Kelly whistle, “Damn”
“Keep talking Severide, let’s see how fast you can run” you interrupted making Kelly raise his hands in surrender. Arriving at the entrance of the venue,
“Hey, were here to check in for the Kidd-Severide wedding” Matt said. “So yeah, I tried to call, but the voice-mail was full” the man responded.
“So… we’re here now. Let us through!” you said from your sisters side getting a bad feeling about this situation. Jay glanced at you over his shoulder before hearing the man talk again.
“Well, the Millineck wedding is back on…” -no- you instantly looked at Stella not hearing the rest of his sentence.
“…we’ll get you guys in here next month” is this guy for real. Kelly questioned him again, Jay backing him up, there was no way this was happening right now it had to be a joke, a very cruel joke,
“Buddy, listen these two, they gotta hurry up and get it done. They have some serious commitment issues…” “Damn right…” you muttered under your breath, taking Stella’s hand in yours giving her a squeeze. Hearing how the man declined the money Hermman had offered in exchange for the wedding venue -didn’t think it was going to work, I mean at least he tried- you thought.
“So how about free security for 6 months? I can arrange something” Jay tried seeing the desperation in Stella’s and Kelly’s face, just to be turned down like Hermman.
“Mono, you told us they would have this place, you have to fix this. It’s the least you can do…” you exclaimed, while leaving Stella’s side and stepping forward, Jay grabbing your waist. “Baby calm down” he whispered in your ear, while you shook your head giving the man a desperate look.
“I made no mistakes” “Huh? The hell you did! -Hey! -Hey, you come back here and fix this” you tried to get his attention while he just walked away, leaving everyone in shock. Turning around you saw your sister expression,
“This is a disaster…” “Hey no no, it’s fine. We’ll fix it, we’ll find something” you said while hurrying to your little sisters side.
Everyone was trying to find some alternative to fix the situation at hand. Jay was calling Hank to see if some of his contacts could make this wedding happen. Hermman was pretty much almost planning a wedding on Molly’s, again.
“Nothing?” you asked Jay as he hung up his phone, lips tight in a line he shook his head, which made you rest your forehead against the car window since you both had taken the task of looking, and personally visiting every possible place in the city to have this wedding -so far it was all going to shit-.
“I really thought today was going to work. They deserve this- and that asshole…” “Shh hey… babe c’mon” “What, he is…” you whispered.
“Okay, he is”, feeling Jay’s hand grab yours and give it a kiss, just then Jay’s truck made a weird noise making the two of you furrow your eyebrows and look at each other in confusion…a fucking flat tire -couldn’t this day get any worse- yep it could.
“You have to be kidding me. God! Why?” -we’re screwed- you thought as the both of you looked for the spare tire just to remember Jay was having it fixed. That’s it…it can’t possibly get worse than this, or so you thought. Just then your phone rang and Silvie’s face popped up on the screen,
“Hey where are you guys. Casey found a tourist boat to have the wedding, the captain is going to marry them…” “shit, shit, shit” you said while opening the truck door, taking your bag and proceeding to take your heels off,
“Okay, okay we’ll be right there…” “Alright, I’ll wait for you guys at the entrance of Crystal’s Garden” “okay bye!” you exclaimed, then looking at Jay with wide eyes.
“Baby! We gotta run. They’re going to have the wedding in tourist boat” “A tourist boat?” “YES, a fucking tourist boat, and- We. Will. Not. Miss. It. You hear me?” Jay looked at you with wide eyes, nodding his head frantically -you were a sweetheart, but when you got pissed- well…
“Alright come on” Jay said while reaching his left hand for the heels in yours and grabbing your hand with his right one pulling you to run.
If someone looked at the both of you right now, they wouldn’t think much of it, maybe nothing was happening -oh but it was-. And by some miracle Jay had left his truck without hesitation -he loves that truck more than his life- which made you understand he knew how serious this was to you.
It wasn’t a secret to your friends that there has always been Stella and you against all odds. No matter what, you always had each other, and you weren’t about to miss her big day. Fuck the hot pavement and the dirty sidewalk, you were going to make it.
Almost arriving, you noticed Silvie standing waiting on you and Jay at the same spot you had last been before the whole venue catastrophe started. Noticing her, both of you ran in her direction,
“Why are you guys running?” “Our tire popped, didn’t have the other in the compartment” Jay explained -like he didn’t just run a freaking marathon- to Silvie who looked surprise and impressed.
“Fuck- I’m not the athletic sibling for a reason. I-I’m pretty sure I will die once this day is over” you panted clutching on to Jay’s arm while he rubbed your back chuckling, with Silvie’s amused look.
You had cried like a baby, you both made it in time for the whole ceremony, and you watch your sister exchange vows with her husband with happy tears in your eyes.
Now resting your back on you fiancé’s chest, your head on his shoulder, his arms wrapped securely around your waist. While he kissed the side of your head swinging slightly from side to side and quietly signing in your ear -which made you smile and giggle from time to time- watching everyone dance,
“hi…can I steal her for a moment Detective Halstead” Stella approached you both with a big smile as Kelly stood next to Jay, he nodded his head laughing at the way Stella dragged you to the dance floor,
“Hey Ella…” “Hi, Y/N/N” you whispered to each other smiling, reaching for a hug while swinging slowly to the music,
“T-thank you, for raising me…” “Shh, don’t… I would do it again in a heartbeat. I’m so proud of the woman you are Stella- Hey, I’m proud” you said pulling away and saying the last part looking into her eyes,
“…And…they’re crying” Kelly said making Jay laugh, while the two of them looked at their girls from the distance -you were the sentimental sibling, and Stella, well she cried if you cried-,
When you were about to pull away in order to walk back to Jay, you felt a hand pull you back,
“You really thought we were finish. Nah gurl!” in that moment you guys favorite song “Stand By You” started to play, making you pout. Stella grabbed your hand while the two of you smiled at each other, spinning around with open arms, pointing at one another and singing together.
“I’m gonna stand by you, even if we can’t find heaven…” she sang while you laughed. “…I’ll walk trough hell with you. Love, you’re not alone…” “Cause I’m gonna stand by you” you both singing the last part together, hugging one another tightly.
“Yup pretty sure they’re crying again” this time Jay said, “Without a doubt” Kelly followed while they both laughed at your expenses,
The night was coming to an end, it had been tough, but Firehouse 51 made everything possible -she had a village in her corner- and that was a fact.
“It worked out…” “We should elope” you said which made Jay’s head whip towards you eyebrows raised in surprise.
“Really?” “If this chaotic day showed me anything, is that it doesn’t matter the place it’s just the two of us. There’s no one else we need to make. Us. Work” he caressed your cheek giving you that handsome smile.
“What about Stella?” “She wouldn’t care, she doesn’t need me anymore…” you said looking at Stella in Kelly’s arms while they both laughed at Cruz dancing -before you continued- “…I’ve been putting us on hold for some time now. And I’m ready to marry you!” he chuckled kissing your forehead and resting his forehead with yours.
“I would marry you, in a sidewalk! As long as a get to spend the rest of my life with you Y/N” which made you stand on the tip of your toes cupping his face and kissing him deeply.
“Wait- sidewalk! Your truck!” you exclaimed, to what Jay whined throwing his head backwards, while you busted laughing.
It had been a truly weird and exhausting day. But as you looked at your baby sister in her husband’s arms while they danced, you knew she would be alright. And you couldn’t be prouder of the woman she grew up to be and the things she would do from this day forward.

Fandom: Chicago Fire / One Chicago
Character/s: Kelly Severide x Stella Kidd, Severide!Reader
Warning/s: smoke inhalation, fire,
Word Count: 1,033
Request: I was wondering if you could write an imagine where Stella and Severide have a daughter. Severide is the biological father and Stella has adopted the daughter. The daughter is 15 years old and is training to become a Paramedic. They all work at 51 still. There’s a call that comes through for ambo 61, truck 81, squad 3, engine 51 and battalion 25, maybe could you write the daughter into the skyscraper call in season 7 (the 3 part crossover) but the daughter has to be the one that makes the medical decision on what happens to Stella and what the decision is.
You were training for this, you knew what to do. Well, in theory. In reality, the moment you’d seen her lying there, everything you knew went out of your head and blind panic set in.
Smoking was falling everywhere and you’d almost missed her, but the sound of her alarm alerted you to her presence, unmoving in the floor near your feet.
“Stella,” you gasped, coughing into your jumper as you knelt to the floor, feeling for where her head was and finding her masked still on. Hands still searching for the problem where your eyes could not you found her O2 monitor, squinting to see that it was out.
Kelly was the only parent you’d ever known, and when he’d first introduced you to Stella, well, you hadn’t liked her, hadn’t wanted her, hadn’t needed her - Kelly was enough for you, so why weren’t you enough for him?
But now... “Stella!” You called out louder, shaking her a little to try and stir her as you removed her mask. Normally, you wouldn’t have done, but it wasn’t exactly helping her breath at the moment.
“Stella,” you tried again, not as loud but with more force, your fingers shakily going to her neck - was she even breathing?
Her pulse was there but faint, and fading fast. You looked around, alone, barely able to breath let alone see, and definitely not strong enough to lead her out of there.
“Mom...” you tried one final time, pleading as your voice broke and a tear slipped down your cheek, surprising yourself as the word slipped out. Legally, she’d been your mom for a few years now, but you’d never actually said it out loud until now, never realised you’d felt it on this level.
Think. You willed your foggy brain. You were only 15, you shouldn’t even be in this situation, but you’d wanted to go visit your friend, so you had, and now you were stuck in a burning building.
The hall was bad, smoke was filling it too fast, neither of you would survive long if you stayed. Looking around you saw a door nearby, quickly checking you found it unlocked. You may not have been able to get her out, but you may just about be able to drag her in.
So you did, falling to the ground and coughing as you tried to catch your breath once you were both inside, the door locked and your jacket placed on the gap under the door. The room wasn’t smoke free, but it was much clearer.
Had she been looking for you up here? Your mind wandered unhelpfully, guilt setting in as you frantically searched for her radio. Why was she alone? Did she get separated? “May day, may day, firefighter down,” you managed to choke out, repeating the words you knew by heart by now.
“Stella where the hell- wait, Y/N!?” Of course it had to be your father who answered.
“No time to fully explain, I’m here with Stella, she’s barely breathing, her O2 ran out, we’re stuck,” you listed off breathlessly, unsure of how long you’d be safe in the room as you dragged Stella further in towards the window on the other side.
“Are you okay? Where are you?” Kelly asked, worry straining his voice, even over the radio.
“Umm, sixth floor, looking out onto the parking lot” you wracked your brain and shot a glance out of the window to get your bearings.
“We’re coming to get you,” your dad promised, followed by shouts to the rest of squad.
“What do I do about Stella? I’m scared,” you told him.
“I don’t know,” he admitted, frustrated and scared too, “I’m not there, I can’t make that decision.”
“You want me to?” You gasped, feeling the pressure of that request already. Except, it wasn’t a request, it was life or death.
“I don’t want you to, but you have the training, I believe in you,” he said sincerely, “I love you, we’ll get you both out.” He left the line, probably on his way to you already.
“Okay, deep breath Y/N, he’s right, you’re training for this,” you told yourself, leaning over Stella and checking her pulse again. The woman lying in front of you is literally training you for this. And she’s no longer breathing.
You quickly unzipped her coat, allowing for better access as you began to do CPR, exactly like you’d prepared for. You could do it, you had to, you weren’t going to let her die.
It wasn’t long before your dad arrived, bursting in through the door with Cruz with fiery determination, though that may have been the wrong choice of words given the situation.
“Dad!” You called out, watching as he ran towards you, giving you a quick once over before turning his attention to Stella, your arms unable to stop compressions.
“We got her,” you dad promised, “we’re going to get you both out, you did good.” He squeezed your shoulders and gestured to Cruz, who lightly pulled you away from Stella as Kelly took over, your hands shaking as you managed to get to your feet.
“Is she-” Cruz dared begin to ask, offering you some of his oxygen.
“She’s breathing,” Kelly sighed with relief, picking her up. “Let’s get out of here.”
None of you needed to be told twice, you and Cruz leading the way while Kelly followed with Stella, your eyes glancing back to her all the way down, one question on your mind, had you done enough?
-
When you’d found out the answer was yes, you’d collapsed, the stress and fear of the day finally catching up to you, the impact hitting you hard as you sobbed, your dad catching you before you could actually hit the floor.
“She’s going to be okay,” you repeated, willing yourself to believe it.
“She’s okay,” Kelly confirmed again, eventually pulling you up and wiping the tears from your cheeks. “Do you want to go see her?”
You nodded.
Despite all of it, despite everything that had happened today, one thing had become clearer to you than it ever had been before. You were going to be a paramedic.

Be Careful | Christopher Herrmann
Request: could you do a herrmann imagine where the reader is his daughter who recently became 51s new candidate, and she’s a really good firefighter but gets badly hurt on a call and he’s worried and then in the hospital after she wakes up they talk and he says how proud he is of her or something soft like that?
Pairing: Christopher Herrmann x Daughter!Reader / Chicago Fire
Warnings: Injuries.
Author's note: Hi, from now requests are open again. If you have some suggestions for imagines about Halloween or something, feel free to ask❤️ All of the requests I got before will be posted in this and next week. I'm so sorry for taking this that long, but I have a hard time and school is making it only worse, I hope you understand.
Working with your dad wasn't the kind of thing you have always wanted. You were sure that life will bring you something unexpected, but you never imagined working in Chicago Fire Department at the same station with your dad. To be honest, it was awesome. You always had him by your side, you knew how his day went, you understood him like no one. Sometimes things were rough, especially when engine wasn't on the scene and he couldn't see how you're doing on the truck. From the first day he treated you like his colleague, he knew that he can't put his feelings over job, because that's the only way to get distracted. He trusted you, more than everything, especially when Casey was your capitan and always had your back.
You didn't like brining work to home, just like him, that's why your mom never pushed you to talk about hard call. This thing in your family worked pretty well.
"Hey dad, I was thinking, maybe you should go with mom tonight to the theatre or something? I can watch kids." you walked into break room after first call in the day.
"Uh, what's on your mind and how much money do you want?" he asked you.
"What? No, I just thought that you haven't been on a date for such a long time and now, when I got the night off I can stay with them." you hugged him from behind. He closed the newspaper and turned to look at you. He looked kinda confused and for sure, he didn't believe you. "Okay, if you don't want, you're staying with kids and I'm taking mom for a girl's night."
"Oh no no, that's not gonna happen, when you'll pick them?"
"I'll come home for a night. Gallo? What are you doing tonight?"
"Nothing, why?"
"You'll help me with my siblings, you owe me!" you said and walked out to the bathroom.
You stripped from your clothes and got to the shower. It was one of those day when after a case you're glad that everything in your life is going that way. You were happy, that was a sure thing. Even if something was missing, you couldn't notice that, because every single day you were surrounded by people who love you like a family member.
After you finish, you changed into fresh clothes, it was worthless after all, cause in every minute you could get a signal that you need to go, but comfort first.
You went back into break room, took some coffee and sat next to Christopher.
You were helping solving him the crossword.
"Herrmann, can I talk to you for a second?" Severide asked.
"Which one?" you and your dad asked in the same time.
"Not this time Y/N." you looked at him confused. Your father made his way to Kelly and looked kinda worried.
"So, I don't know how much things Y/N has told you but I'm sure you wanna know about this." you couldn't hear much of the conversation and you're glad, because it wasn't a right thing to listen to them, even if deep down you knew that conversation was about you.
"What do you mean Kelly? Something happened?"
"No no, everything is fine I think, it's just... Y/N applied to join the squad after finishing her being a candidate." now your dad looked confused and heartbroken?
"She never brought that around me. I thought that she's feeling okay on the truck."
"Yeah me too, but you need to know that I'm going to agree on this apply. She's an amazing firefighter and it would be nice to have her in squad. Besides, women know better, she would be really great. Don't worry, I'll always have her back, just like Casey did." Severide said.
"Yeah, thanks."
You finished your coffee and just in time you hard the alarm.
Quickly, you fixed your hair and got your uniform.
"Hey, Y/N? I heard that you want to join the Squad, congratulations." Casey said.
"Yeah, but... It's not a sure thing yet. I just really want to try, I hope you don't mind. I love being on the truck, but you know."
"Don't you dare think like this kiddo. I'm so proud of you and I'll always support you. You'll be great."
"Thank you, but please, don't tell my dad yet, I need to have this conversation with him on my own."
"Sure thing." he said. You looked at all the members in the truck. They were so happy that someone like you were with them, serving to the city and country. Gallo hugged you from the right side, while Mouch from the left.
"Okay guys, that's enough, you're gonna kill me with those hugs." you laughed.
You arrived on the scene and walked out of the truck. Casey gave you an order to stay behind him and to follow his movements.
The fire was spreading quickly, you saw a young woman running from the building.
"M-y my kids are in there, please, please help us..." she managed to say after she collapsed on the ground. You help Sylvie taking her to the ambo. Casey called you right after.
"Mask up guys, we're going on the second floor, Squad, you take the basement, engine cover us." you put your mask on and followed Matt. Stella and Blake were right behind you, calling and searching for people.
"Fire department, call out!" you yelled. Casey gave you an order to turn into right side while he and Stella will go on the left.
"The smoke is too dark, I barely see anything." Gallo said.
"Yeah me too, it's gonna collapse soon, we need to hurry." you answered, when you heard the loud crash and all you felt was a pain in your whole body. You couldn't breathe. Gallo was screaming your name and calling for backup.
"Mayday, mayday, Y/N Herrmann is down, the building just collapsed, she's on the first floor but her mask fell off, we need help."
Herrmann was standing with Boden next to the truck, helping with injuried people, while he heard Blake into his radio.
He couldn't think straight, he couldn't focus on what was happening.
Boden was holding him, because he couldn't let him go in there when building wasn't stable. After few minutes which last like hours, he saw Casey, Kidd, Gallo and Cruz walking out with you, while Severide held his mask at your face. You were unconscious and your head was bleeding.
"Guys, right here!" Sylvie yelled. They brought you on the stretcher. "She's not breathing and the pulse is weak."
Casey pulled your dad to let paramedics do their job. He was crying, but couldn't manage to say anything.
"Is-. She- she is okay? What happened? Casey, you promised to look after her." he asked.
"Hey, Herrmann. She was doing her job. I ordered her and Gallo to search that place, the floor wasn't stable and it collapsed. She has a broken leg and probably her arm is dislocated. They're taking her to Med, go with them." Herrmann made his way to the ambo. The whole ride was silent, his heart broke more after your heart stopped twice on the way.
"I can't loose you princess, please." he cried.
"She's tough, she's gonna be okay." Brett hugged him.
Hours passed by and nothing was said. They didn't know what was going on with you, you were in surgery for almost 4 hours.
"Casey? I'm sorry for what I said before. It wasn't your fault, I overreacted." your father said.
"It's okay, I get it."
"Herrmann?" Dr. Halstead appeared in the hall.
"How's she? Is she okay?"
"She's out of the surgery. She had a opened break on the leg, but everything is fine now. Also, she had a pretty bad head injury, but for now, we don't know if this caused any damages. We need to wait until she'll wake up.
"Can I see her?" he asked. Hall was filled with relief and some kind of happiness. You were alive and that was the only thing that matters.
"Yes, of course."
Herrmann walked into your room. When he saw all of those tubes and machines, his heart just broke. It all caused a painful flashbacks of his memories when he was stabbed. He took your hand and kissed it.
He spent almost 6 hours next to you, because he wanted to be with you when you wake up. Your mom was there too. She brought him fresh clothes and something to eat.
"D-dad?" he immediately woke up.
"Hey honey, I'm right here." he helped you with taking piece of hair of your face.
"What happened? Where am I?" you asked.
"Rough call you would said. Listen Y/N, I'm so sorry that I wasn't there, maybe if-"
"Dad, please stop. It's okay, I'm fine, hey. I'm right here and I'm not going anywhere soon."
"Mom is here too, but I told her to get some coffee for us, I'll go to tell her that you woke up, should I get the nurse too? Maybe dr. Halstead? Are you in pain?"
"Dad, sit down, now. I'm okay, really."
"Oh sweetie. I'm so glad that you're okay. When I saw you, when they took you... I was so afraid that I'm gonna loose you. But deep down I knew... I knew that you're one of the kind, my daughter, who will handle everything on her own. I knew that you're gonna make it, you're so tough. I couldn't be more proud babygirl. I'm so happy that I'm the one who you call dad." he cried. You showed him to come closer and you hugged him tightly.
"Oh my god, baby, you woke up!" now Cindy walked into your room. You all hugged and stayed like this for couple of minutes.
"Um, right. Y/N, your mom and I need to tell you something."
"Please don't make me want to almost die again, are you pregnant?" they laughed.
"No, oh god no. We wanted to tell you that we're so excited that you want to join the squad."
"What? But how? I swear I'll beat his ass."
"Severide told me yesterday. He's so happy to have you there and we're too. You need to know that no matter what, we'll always support you sweetheart. We love you."
"I love you too."

As Hailey came out of her room and downstairs to the kitchen, she spied her mother standing by the stovetop as the teenager rubbed the sleep out of her eyes with a yawn. Her mother smiled over at her as she flipped a piece of bacon, kissing her daughter’s forehead as she tiredly made her way over.
“Well good morning my Hailey Bailey,” Anne smiled as Hailey buried her head into the crook of neck. “You sleep alright?”
Hailey nodded lightly, her voice raspy as she opened her mouth to speak. “Yeah. I was awoken to the smell of food though, so I’m glad to see that there was in fact something cooking down here and I’m not having a stroke.”
“I’m makin’ some bacon — if you wanna put some bread in the toaster too, that’d be a help.”
“You’re liking your rhymes today, aren’t you?” Hailey chuckled lightly as she yawned once again, pulling the loaf of bread from the pantry as she shoved a few pieces into the toaster without much care.
The sound of footsteps coming down the stairs caused both Hailey and her mother to look up as her father came downstairs. He too wore a smile as he came over to Hailey and his wife, kissing them both on the top of their heads just like Anne had done only moments earlier.
“Morning sweetie,” Hailey’s father squeezed Hailey’s shoulder in passing as he reached around her to turn on the coffee pot.
“Morning dad.”
“I was planning on going into the shop today,” he started, turning to Hailey as he pulled a mug from the top shelf. “Do you wanna come with me, Hailey?”
Hailey hummed in thought for a moment. “I don’t know. Can I think about it?”
“'Course you can.”
It was moments like these that Hailey held onto, storing them at the forefront of her mind for when she needed them. As easy as it was to convince herself that things at home were all bad, all the time — that just wasn’t true. Sometimes there were good moments where she and her parents spent hours laughing with smiles so big that her cheeks hurt. Hailey held onto the memories of sitting behind the counter at her father’s store while she and her brothers would joke around, beaming when their father would bring them soft serve ice-cream that would leave her hands sticky and her nose dotted with white. Her father had been a violent drunk long before Hailey had first made her appearance in the world and would probably be a violent drunk for a long time coming — that didn’t mean that the good moments couldn't quite easily cloud the bad moments for both Hailey and her mother.
As they all sat down at the table, three plates set out in their usual places in front of them, Hailey speared some of the food onto the end of her fork before placing it in her mouth. A cup of orange juice sat beside her plate as she bought it to her lips and took a sip, scrunching her nose up at her mother who was staring at her daughter with admiration.
“Nate called,” Anne began, directing her words at Hailey who perked up at the sound of her brother’s name. “He wanted to know if I thought you were liking your new school. I told him given the fact that a boy who wasn’t Adam dropped you off at home last night, I’d say you were settling in pretty nicely.”
“A boy, hey?” Hailey’s father smirked over at the teenager who rolled her eyes. “Is he your boyfriend?”
“No, he’s not my boyfriend,” Hailey drawled. “He’s one of Adam’s friends and by extension, my friend. He happens to be in my literature class and the teacher paired us together for our poetry assignment. But yes, I’m liking it a whole lot better at this school — I have friends there for the first time in so long.”
Hailey’s mother smiled at her as her father stood up, mumbling something about fetching something from the kitchen as she and her mother continued eating their breakfast. It wasn’t often that they would eat together at the table — which was why Hailey was so shocked when she woke up to the smell of food. It seemed that things were going to go well today by the way the day had started off, but when her father returned with a bottle of rum — the blonde-haired teenager had to physically bite down on her tongue to stop herself from screaming at him.
“Unbelievable,” Hailey muttered under her breath venomously, slamming her knife and fork down onto her plate as she watched her father pour his rum into his coffee. “I’m going to Adam’s.”
Anne frowned deeply, standing up at the same time that Hailey did before reaching out for her daughter’s arm in an attempt to stop her from leaving.
“Hailey, please —”
“Don’t, mom. I’ll see you later — or not. Whatever.”
Anne audibly sighed as she sat back down in her seat, watching as Hailey walked right out the front door and across the street, disappearing out of sight.
❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄
At the Ruzek's house, Hailey found herself in the kitchen as she raided the fridge for something to eat. After leaving three quarters of her breakfast on her plate back at her own house, her stomach was rumbling loudly while she searched high and low for something that would rid her of her hunger. She groaned loudly when there was nothing that she could throw into the microwave to eat, her forehead meeting the refrigerator door over and over again with a distinct clunk.
“Hailey,” Bob chuckled from behind her as he came into the kitchen, his collar unbuttoned and rings around his eyes — he had just come home from yet another night shift. “What’re you up to?”
“Shit — sorry.” Hailey smiled sheepishly over at the man. “Did I wake you?”
Bob shook his head lightly. “No, no, you didn’t wake me. I have some things to do before I go and crash. Now — what’re you looking for?”
“Food. Anything that resembles food. I had a decent breakfast going for me until someone decided to cover it with the stench of rum mixed in with coffee.”
Bob sighed, offering up a knowing look. “I’m sorry.”
“Not your fault. I just — ugh.”
Bob came up beside Hailey as he wrapped an arm around her shoulder, squeezing her in a comforting manner as he sighed sadly.
“Tell you what — if you wanna take my car and grab something to eat, you’re welcome to.”
Hailey shrugged, seeming slightly opposed as she rested her head upon the fridge once again. “It’s okay — I’ll wait until Adam wakes up so we can both go and get something.”
“Alrighty. Just know that the offer stands regardless of if you can drag his ass out of bed before midday.”
Hailey let out a halfhearted laugh. “Thank you, Bob.”
And with that, Hailey headed up the stairs and towards her best friend's room, pushing his door open and heading right over to the bed. She pulled the covers back slightly before sliding underneath them, her head on the pillow beside Adam’s as she poked him repeatedly.
“Adam. Wake up,” Hailey started, her finger colliding with his forehead. “Adam. Adam. Adam. Adam!”
A groan came from the boy as he opened up his eyes, glaring at the blonde as she continued poking him, completely unbothered by the sour look she was receiving.
“You’re the world’s most annoying person, you know that?”
Hailey only chuckled as she refused to move from her position, letting out a frustrated huff which clued Adam into the fact that something had happened. He couldn’t quite work out exactly what — she wasn’t upset, just seemingly pissed off — leaving Adam to lay there watching as she shoved her head beneath a pillow to muffle the scream she proceeded to let out.
“Your morning’s going that good is it?”
Hailey grabbed the pillow which was across her face and bought it down to her chest as she huffed once more. “Just one time, I wish we could be a normal family, you know? One time. The closest we ever get to being a normal family is Saturday mornings before he starts drinking, and yet within five fucking minutes of waking up and coming downstairs he’s pouring rum into his coffee right in front of us. In about forty-five minutes he’ll be throwing around insults, and an hour after that he’ll be throwing around a lot more than that. I don’t want to have to be there for that Adam. I can’t. I had such a good week this week, and now the weekend is here and he’s starting earlier and earlier with every week that goes by.”
Adam looked over at Hailey only to catch her forcing back the tears gathering in her eyes, the boy pulling his best friend close to him as she laid on his arm defeatedly. His heart ached for the girl who he thought of as a sister — she didn’t deserve this. Nobody did.
“I’m glad I have you, Adam. I really don’t know what I would do if I didn’t.” Hailey found herself speaking only the truth as her stomach rumbled yet again. “Ugh — I’m so hungry.”
Adam closed his eyes once again, realising where the girl was going with her words as he groaned. “Haileyyyy."
“Adammmm,” she mocked in a similar tone. “Wake upppppp.”
“Why don’t you just take my car?”
“That’s no fun! It’s better when you’re driving because then I get full control over the music!”
“But I wanna sleep,” Adam whined loudly, causing Hailey to laugh from beside him. “It’s like — seven in the morning, dude!”
“Actually — it’s eleven thirty which is why I’m here waking you up in the first place. If it were seven in the morning I would have gone to the guest bedroom and gone to sleep because I do not want to be awake at seven on a Saturday unless it’s because I’m going to fucking Disneyland.”
Hailey sighed when she didn’t receive a response from her best friend, the boy either having fallen asleep again with Hailey laying on his arm or deciding to simply ignore her completely, leaving her to pull her phone from her pocket and scroll through her social media timeline. It was only when she saw a photo that Jay had posted that the man popped back into her head; she realised she needed to get his number so she could thank him for the day before.
“Adam,” Hailey poked the boy once again, earning a single open eye from him. “What’s Jay’s number?”
“Yeah, right — because I can totally remember his number off the top of my head.” Even though his words were muffled through the pillow, Hailey still heard the sarcasm in Adam’s tone. “It’s in my phone somewhere. Why?”
“I just want to tell him thank you for driving me home.”
Hailey didn’t wait for a response as she reached across Adam to get to his phone, unlocking it with ease as she quickly found Jay’s contact and sent it to herself. Before she knew it, she was typing out a message to the freckled boy from her own phone, her fingers seemingly knowing what to say better than her brain did.
Just that small interaction with her new friend had brightened her mood back to what it had been before she had to witness the beginning of her father’s downward spiral. Soon enough she was laying beside her best friend and poking him all over again, although this time, Adam finally woke up and sat upright, much to the girl’s delight. Both Hailey and Adam were still dressed in their makeshift pyjamas as they drove to a McDonalds a few miles away, picking up a few breakfast items from the drive through before parking in the parking lot to eat them.
❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄
Waking up the next morning in the guest bedroom at the Ruzek’s house, Hailey found herself blinking a few times as her eyes adjusted to the light. Although she called it the guest bedroom, the reality was that over the years it had fully turned into her own bedroom for when she stayed the night (or the week). She had clothes hanging in the closet, shoes under the bed — hell, there was even a sign on the door that Adam’s mother had bought for her years ago saying ‘Hailey’s room - stay out!’ Hailey hadn’t ever bothered to take it off, mainly because it seemed like a lot of effort for something she didn’t particularly care much about, but it was little things like that which made all the difference. There were never any questions asked when Hailey would turn up unexpectedly, nobody ever made a big deal when they heard her come inside and creep up to the ‘guest' bedroom at 3 in the morning. When they woke up in the morning only to find Hailey pacing around in the kitchen — or in Bob’s case, to find her hitting her head against the fridge in frustration — they did nothing but give her a kiss on the head and ask what she wanted for breakfast. Hailey was just as much Pamela and Bob’s daughter as Adam was their son — they wouldn’t have it any other way.
Hailey threw the covers off of herself before stretching her arms up, her joints clicking into place before she reached over for her phone. It was almost nine in the morning, meaning she had about an hour before she had to leave to meet Jay at the park. After taking a quick shower, brushing her teeth and getting dressed, Hailey grabbed a bagel from the pantry before texting Adam to let him know where she was as she headed out the front door. She didn’t have to wait for long before Jay showed up in his truck, the boy moving over to the passenger’s side as Hailey jumped into the driver’s seat with a smile, swallowing the last of her bagel.
“Good morning,” Hailey greeted politely as she placed her hands on the steering wheel, rubbing it slightly — it had been a while since she had driven. “How’s your weekend been?”
“Eh,” Jay shrugged. “My dad’s been on my nerves — but when is he not? Oh well — It’s better now that we’re getting pancakes and coffee.”
Hailey grinned toothily. “Pancakes and coffee make everything better.”
“They really do.”
Driving Jay’s truck was surprisingly easy for Hailey, who for the record, wasn’t the tallest person around. Even he had thought she looked adorable hopping out of the vehicle when they arrived at the diner, the pair of them walking side by side as they found a table and pulled up a menu. While Hailey named off the things she had tried and gave her very detailed opinion on each and every one, Jay caught himself staring at the girl in complete admiration. There was something about her that lured him in and put him into a trance — he hadn’t ever been like this with anybody else in his entire life, and somehow it intrigued him yet also terrified him all at the same time. She was like some kind of goddess, roaming the streets and commanding the room with her nonchalance that she was completely oblivious to.
Jay and Hailey each ordered a plate of pancakes and a coffee each, the wait time not being long at all as their orders were delivered right in front of them. He watched — studied almost — every move that Hailey made, from how she picked up her knives and forks to how much creamer and sugar she put into her cup.
“You’re left handed,” Jay observed, his voice quiet as though he was making a note of it for himself. “Either that, or you never learned how to use a knife and fork properly.”
Hailey chuckled lightly, looking down at the utensils she was gripping. “Yes, I’m left handed. Are you already trying to eye off my pancakes, Halstead? I expect this from Adam who runs under the idea that when it comes to food, what’s mine is his — I thought you were more of a gentleman.”
“I am a gentleman, thank you very much! More of a gentlemen than Adam is at least. I wasn’t eyeing off your pancakes — I’m. . . learning.”
Hailey gave the boy a look to show she was not convinced in the slightest, provoking Jay to give a similar look of disbelief as he leaned back in his chair and threw his hands up incredulously.
“I am!”
“Uh huh. What learning would you be doing by looking at my pancakes slash hands, you weirdo?”
“We do have an assignment that involves us learning about each other, you know,” Jay defended, chuckling between his words. “I feel like the balance is uneven at the moment. You know heaps about me, yet I know barely anything about you.”
“Hate to break it to you, Halstead — that just means I’m doing my job.”
Jay huffed playfully with a roll of his eyes. “Hailey!”
“Okay, okay!” The blonde haired girl laughed heartily before settling down at last. “What do you want to know?”
“Who is Hailey Upton? Like — who is she really? What does she like to do? Does she have siblings? What secrets does she hold? Tell me random facts about yourself."
The two teenagers stared at each other for a heartbeat or two before Hailey cleared her throat, preparing to speak.
“My middle name is Anne. My birthday is May 23rd. Uhh — I have two brothers — both older — one’s in college in LA and one works as a mechanic up in Madison. I guess I like to read. I’m about as interesting as a blank piece of paper, Jay — I don’t really have much more to offer to you.”
Jay chuckled lightly at her choice of analogy. “Well I think you’re very interesting. Far more interesting than you let on.”
Hailey only smiled in response as she pushed a piece of hair out of her face gently, tucking it behind her ear as she took a bite of her pancakes, smiling to herself in content. She was completely unaware to the gaze of the boy sitting across from her, his eyes trained upon her in complete admiration at how one person could look so — perfect — doing the most regular things. Between sips of coffee and more bites of the syrup covered goodness sitting on his plate, he sat, he watched and he listened. Her voice was like a siren — soft and sweet — Jay could listen to it all day. And he did. But it was all in the name of completing their assignment . . . right?

So Long
written by @anotheronechicagobog
When your dad first told you he might have lung cancer, it hadn’t been because he wanted to tell you. You’d accidentally overheard when Mills told him. You felt your stomach knot within itself. When your dad entered his office he was deep in thought and didn’t take notice of you until he’d taken a seat at his desk.
“Y/N? What are you doing here?”
“You might have cancer?”
“Y/N, that’s not something for you to worry about.”
“Not something for me to- are you kidding me?!” He sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. “You need to focus on school. How long are you back for?”
“I’m back for three weeks, and I’m literally studying oncology.”
“Y/N, I don’t want to worry about this.”
“Too fucking late.”
“Watch your language young lady.” You huffed, tossed the sandwiches you’d picked up from your dad’s favourite deli onto his desk and stormed out. Your dad didn’t call out after you or make any move to stop you. You were upset, if you hadn’t overheard that conversation he probably wouldn’t have told you. Your thoughts were interrupted by you bumping into someone. “Oh, sorry-”
“Y/N Boden? That you? Been a while since I saw you around here, how you doing, kid?”
“Hi, uncle Hermann! It’s good to see you.”
“How long you in Chicago for?”
“Three weeks.”
“Hey, Herm, who’s this?” A man with salt and pepper hair and icy blue eyes were looking and smiling at you in such a charming way. “Cool it Severide. Everyone,” your uncle addressed the entire common room, “This is Y/N. Y/N Boden, as in Chief Boden’s daughter.”
“Nice to meet you, how come I haven’t seen you around here before?”
“That was by design, Severide. Boden didn’t want her anywhere near the firehouse when you joined.” There was a round of laughter from everyone in the common room. “Actually, I’ve been going to university and med school in Switzerland. When I do have time off and come home, I’ve been told to steer clear of 51. And now I know why.” Another round of chuckled at Severide’s expense. “Haha, very funny.”
“Alright, cut it out, you guys. Y/N should probably head out.”
“I don’t know, why don’t you introduce me to everyone?” Uncle Hermann looked displeased, that got worse when Severide turned up the charm and stood up. “ I think I can handle the introductions, Herm. I’m Lieutenant Kelly Severide. I’m in charge of squad three, this is Lieutenant Matt Casey, he’s in charge of truck eighty-one. And then there’s Gabby Dawson, Sylvie Brett, Stella Kidd, Joe Cruz, Mouch, Capp, and Otis.”
“Hi everyone, it’s lovely to meet you all.”
“When was the last time you were in the firehouse, Y/N? Maybe I could give you a private tour.”
“Okay, Severide, that’s enough. Like I said there’s a reason you’ve never met her.” Your uncle was just as overprotective as your dad. Speaking of whom, chose that moment to enter the common room. “Lieutenant Severide, care to explain why you’re making eyes at my daughter?” Severide jumped back as if he’d been doused in cold water. “No, chief.”
“Thought so.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You strode into Molly’s, looking forward to getting to know your father’s firehouse. You walked up to the bar and placed yourself in a stool facing who you recognized as Otis. “Hi, it’s Otis, right?”
“My name is Brian Zvonecek, actually, Otis is a nickname.”
“Oh, well what would you prefer I call you?” He seemed shocked that you asked but smiled at you. “Brian, please.”
“Well okay then, Brian, would you mind making me a screwdriver?”
“Not at all. So, you said you go to school in Switzerland?”
“Yeah, I do. It can be intense, cause it’s med school, but It’s good overall. Definitely a good experience, and a LOT cheaper than going to school in the states.”
“Ah, that explains it.”
“It is fun to live abroad, and I’ve been to other parts of Europe because I can just take a train and be in France in a couple of hours.”
“That’s really cool. What’s been your favourite place to visit so far?”
“I think I have to say St. Petersburg. The architecture is so gorgeous, I got the chance to stay there for a few weeks to work with a doctor who was working on a way to treat cancer through DNA testing.”
“That sounds cool, did you manage to learn any Russian?”
“A little bit, I mostly spoke French while I was there.”
“How many languages do you speak?”
“Four so far.”
“That’s impressive. I can speak two.”
“Let me guess, English and Russian?”
“Yeah, hey, do you want another screwdriver?”
“Not right now, so you’re one of the co-owners of this place, right?”
“Yeah, along with Hermann and Dawson.”
“My dad mentioned that’s there’s a story behind the name you guys chose, but he wouldn’t tell it to me, would you mind telling it?”
“Not at all, so it started during the renovations.”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“No!”
“Yes!”
“No!”
“Yes! I was there! He was covered head to toe in glitter!”
“Casey really placed glitter canons in the ceiling above Severide’s office?”
”Yes! Your dad was so mad that he ended up ordering them both to clean the mess, which is no easy task, and then he placed them on latrine duty for two months!”
“Ha! I kinda feel bad, the reason he’s so hard on pranksters is that I was one myself.”
“Really? Get involved in any prank wars?”
“I never started them, I just ended them.”
“Very ominous.”
“Ominous indeed, you’ll have to tell me some of those stories sometime, Y/N. Thanks for keeping her company Otis, Y/N why don’t we go to a booth and chat for a but?” Severide was giving you what you were sure could be classified as a panty-dropping smile, but you also saw Brian’s smile fall off his face. “Thank you for the offer Lieutenant, but I’m content talking with Brian.” You turned back to your companion but stopped when you saw he looked like he was going to faint. “Brian? Are you alright?”
“Yeah, I’m fine, just shocked. No one ever chooses me over Severide.”
“There’s a first time for everything, isn’t there, Brian?” You sent him a beaming smile excited by the warmth this man made you feel. He jumped over the bar and wrapped you up in a hug. “I have waited for this for so long.” You chuckled into his shoulder and wrapped him in your arms. He cradled you into him in a way you hadn’t been in ages, you sighed and melted into the hug. Only one thought circled through your mind, ‘he feels like home’.

I love you more than you will ever know - with Stellaride and their baby 🧡🧡🧡
Pairing: Kelly Severide x Stella Kidd (Stellaride)
#1: I love you more than you will ever know
Stella held her newborn in her arms, barely believing she was finally here.
Kelly tightened his hold around Stella’s shoulders, squeezing gently before he smiled.
They hadn’t really planned on having kids so soon. Kelly still had many insecurities about being a father and he wasn’t sure he was ready. He wasn’t, until they’d put his newborn daughter in his arms. In that moment, Kelly could almost feel the whole world melt away, only aware of the small weight of his daughter in his arms, as well as Stella’s touch.
Kelly leaned in, pressing a kiss to the top of Stella’s head, and then their daughter’s. “I love you more than you will ever know.” He whispered.
Stella smiled. “You mean I have to share?”
Kelly laughed. “Stella Kidd, you have no idea how much I have to give.” He kissed her on the cheek once more.

Okay Part 3
Fandom: One Chicago
Series: Okay
Part 1 // Part 2 // Part 3 // Part 4 // Part 5 // Part 6 // Part 7 // Part 8 (Final)
Characters: Halstead!Reader, eventual Casey x Reader
Warning/s: mentions of fire, death
Word Count: 1,166
Summary: After narrowly escaping certain death you decided to turn your life around and become a firefighter, and although it wasn’t easy, you survived your first day at 51. Now, the strange circumstances of your very first fire lead you back to the scene of a potential crime, but as you dig deeper, aided by your brothers, you begin to realise just how in over your head you might be.

Over your next few shifts you started to get into the rhythm of the firehouse, started to feel like you belonged, but no matter how many fires you went into, your very first one never stopped playing in your mind.
You and Casey had spent hours milling over all the information you had from that fire, what you remembered, what Gallo and Kidd reported about the downstairs, all of it. While you weren’t exactly sure what happened in that house one thing was very clear, it was arson.
At night you saw that little girls face, but in your dreams you couldn’t save her, too frozen in place to do anything other than watch her burn. Sometimes she was in that room, behind that desk how you found her, but other times she was tied in that basement you were held in. You woke up sweating, telling yourself over and over that you’d saved her, but had you really?
While this case was still unsolved, you couldn’t be sure if she was really safe, so that’s what you were going to do.
Right now you were over late at Casey’s, reading over the interviews from the mother and daughter about the fire, legs crossed on the floor leaning back against the couch as Casey brought you another coffee from the kitchen.
“Thanks,” you mumbled, eyes glued to the words on the page. You’d already read it, several times, but it was wrong, all of it. The fire had been ruled an arson, but the mother had been ruled out first, having been over at the neighbours at the time of the incident. Severide had given you some explanation about the type of accelerant used and how quickly the fire spread, apparently the timeline didn’t match up for the mother being involved, but you couldn’t shake the feeling she knew more than she was letting on.
You needed more, needed a suspect, an angle to work in order to get Intelligence involved. Jay wanted to help, but with nothing to go on his hands were tied. Will had treated the girl, Lily, at Med, but she’d barely said two words while she was there, apparently too shaken up to speak. When you’d spoken to Will he’d told you honestly that he couldn’t be sure if it was shock from being in the fire itself, or shock from something else.
How the hell had she ended up in that little room? It had sustained too much damage to get much evidence from it, but it had been small, with what appeared to be a bed inside. Stella had told you about a similar case she’d worked involving foster kids, but Lily definitely wasn’t adopted and by all accounts, she had a good life with her loving mother. Even so...
“Some of these words don’t look like words anymore,” Casey sighed, putting down the file he was reading and rubbing his temple. You looked up from your paper at him, knowing exactly what he meant, ‘arson’ had stopped looking like English a long time ago. “That’s usually a sign to call it a night.”
“Yeah you might be right,” you resigned, frustrated. Despite spending hours with Casey tonight, you didn’t feel like it had been productive at all.
Casey watched you put away the mother’s statement. “You know, I’ve been doing this a long time, and the way that mother reacted... I just don’t think she’s involved,” he told you honestly as you passed him some of the files to put away in the box at his side.
“You’re probably right, but someone knows more than they’re telling us, someone else must have been at that house,” you mused, wishing Lily would say more. Casey nodded, agreeing with you. Severide had gone to talk to Seager at OFI, gotten their thoughts on the investigation, but without witnesses or leads, they couldn’t do anymore than they already had. If someone knew something, they were keeping it to themselves.
“How about this, tomorrow at shift we take a drive to go see Lily and her mother now that they’re both out of the hospital, see if they’ve remembered anything else?” He suggested, standing up and offering you a hand to pull you up off of the floor. You nodded and accepted the help, stretching out your stiff limbs and putting your coffee cup onto the table.
It was the first time you’d been to Casey’s, but you’d had been spending more time with him this past week than you had the entire time you’d known each other. He was as determined as you to try and solve this case, you were the only two who’d been there to pull that girl out, seen how scared she had been when you’d found her trapped in that little room.
“Sounds like a plan Captain,” you replied and Casey grinned as you turned to grab your things, not realising until that moment quite how late it had gotten.
“Start of your second week,” Casey noted, you’d been so caught up in this case that it hadn’t properly sunk in that you’d made it through your first week as a firefighter. “You’re doing good Y/N, I mean that,” he told you.
“Thanks,” you smiled gratefully as saw you out the door. It hadn’t been an easy week, but you’d given it your all, so it meant a lot for Casey to acknowledge that you were doing well. He opened his mouth to say something else but he was interupted by the ringing of your phone.
Apologising you pulled it out of your pocket, seeing that your brother Will was calling you. What did he want at this hour?
“Hey Will,” you answered, realising as you did that he must have been on shift now.
“Hey Y/N,” he replied, his tone quite clearly indicating that there was something seriously wrong.
You cast a worried glance at Casey as he watched you with confusion. “What is it? What’s going on?” You asked.
Will paused before he answered, trying to find the right words to say. “There was another fire, I thought you’d want to know, that little girl Lily and her mother Sue were staying at a friends house and-”
“Oh god,” you gasped, hand going to your mouth in shock. Another fire? “Are they alright?” You asked quickly, noting Casey’s concerned expression and putting hurriedly putting your phone on speaker.
“Y/N- The mother didn’t make it, and the friend’s in critical but Lily should be fine, the paramedics that brought them in said the fire spread quicker than anything they’d ever seen,” he explained.
You swallowed hard, knowing there was nothing you could have done but wishing you’d done more anyway. “We’re on our way, thanks,” you told Will and hung up.
“I’ll drive,” Casey decided, grabbing his coat and shoes quickly as you still stood by the door, frozen as your mind raced.
You had to find out who was doing this. You had to.
