“You better be ready for round two, Stefan, because I-” Elena started to say as she walked into the kitchen in Stefan’s dark grey dressing gown, her hair dripping from the shower. She froze when she saw who was standing there.

“Morning,” Damon said with a smirk, resting his elbows on the kitchen island. “Stefan ran out to get some bacon and eggs. You’re getting the princess treatment, you know.”

Maybe she was mistaken, but Damon’s eyes seemed far too comfortable resting on her body. She wrapped the dressing gown tighter around herself.

“Stefan didn’t tell me you’d be around,” she said, trying to look calm although her face was burning.

“Don’t look so worried, Elena,” Damon said, his eyes flashing. “Stefan and I are pretty used to… sharing space. ”

He passed by Elena, apparently to put his empty glass in the sink. However, this forced their bodies to brush as he passed through the small space. Elena caught a whiff of whiskey and something oddly fragrant, like old roses.

She couldn’t help but wonder what he meant by “sharing” a space with Stefan. She had a feeling it was to do with how they had once been in love with the same woman.

Damon suddenly spun and looked at Elena. “I can feel you staring at me. It’s disturbing.”

She gulped. “I wasn’t staring.”

Damon crossed his arms. “Yes you were, and it wasn’t just because I’m a hot piece of ass. You’re curious.”

“Curious?” she said, her mouth dry.

“About Katherine,” Damon said. “You want to know what it was like dating the same woman as Stefan.”

A chill ran over Elena's skin, and she wondered if some vampires could read minds. “I’m not curious about you, Damon,” she said quickly. “You’re a jerk, and that’s all I need to know.”

Damon shrugged. “Fine. I was going to tell you, but if you’re not curious…”

He turned as if to walk away again, but, her cheeks burning, she was forced to say, “Fine. Maybe I do have… a couple of questions. Like - weren’t you jealous?”

Damon grinned at Elena. “Of course. There were times I was so jealous I hated my brother. I couldn’t watch him and Katherine in the same room. Every word she said to him, every look - it physically hurt.”

Elena wondered how he could talk about such pain like it was nothing. “How did you deal with it?” she said quietly.

Damon smirked. “Well… let’s just say that the walls between my bedroom and Stefan’s were very thin - and I knew for a fact that Katherine had more fun when she was in bed with me.”

She was shocked by Damon’s honesty. Another, much more inappropriate question came to her mind, but she shut down the thought.

Damon’s smile grew. “Oh, you’re just dying to ask the question, aren’t you?”

Elena opened the fridge door and got the orange juice, just to hide her face from Damon for a moment. “My curiosity has been satisfied. Thank you.”

“Oh no no no,” Damon said. “I’m not letting you off that easily. If you want the answer, you have to ask.”

Her heart raced. She knew this was beyond inappropriate to say to her boyfriend’s brother, but she couldn’t resist. Elena leaned on the counter, so her face was inches from Damon’s.

Elena lowered her voice. “Did Katherine ever… have sex with both of you at once?”

Damon’s pale eyes pierced into hers. Elena found herself admiring the strong line of his jaw, the ripple of his long neck. He said nothing for a long time, and for a moment, she thought she'd offended him. For the first time in their whole conversation, he looked almost serious.

“No,” he said. “I was always afraid she would ask, but I think Katherine was too possessive to even consider it. She needed all the attention to be on her, always.” Damon stood up, all the seriousness melting from his face again. “She did love watching us fight, though!“

Elena wondered why Damon’s tone had abruptly changed, when she looked to the door and saw that Stefan was standing there, shopping bag in hand.

She froze, feeling like a little kid being caught with her hand in the cookie jar. To Elena's relief, Stefan looked relaxed - he must have not heard what she was saying.

Elena brushed her hands through her hair. “Hey, babe.”

“Hey,” Stefan said cheerily. “What were you guys talking about?”

“We were just discussing… the plans for the Founder’s bake sale this weekend, right Damon?” Elena said, glaring at Damon to make sure he went along with her lie.

“Right, right,” Damon said lightly. “Muffins. Buns.”

Elena sighed with relief, grateful that the awkward situation had been passed by.

However, just then, Damon slinked past Elena, and whispered in her ear, “Stefan heard everything. Vampire super-hearing, remember?’

Elena had completely forgotten about that. Her hands flew to cover her mouth, and she stared at Stefan in pure embarrassment.

Stefan didn’t look angry, or even offended about her questioning. He just smirked and said, “Damon’s a liar. Katherine definitely had more fun with me.”

Stefan Salvatore was the biggest mistake of your life. He was like a drug, a drug that you couldn’t get enough off, and when it ended, left you with a shattered heart.  He was your soulmate, your best friend and your home. You’ve known each other since birth, you knew all his stories by heart and he knew yours. But soulmates aren’t always lovers. You knew that. But every time he talked about her, you felt like your heart was about to explode. Her, Elena Gilbert. She was kind, beautiful and he loved her with every fiber in his body. Stefan loved Elena, and you loved Stefan. When you were both young, human, and he was in love with Katherine, you used to think  time wasn’t in your favor and that sooner or later he would see her true colors. But with Elena was different. She wasn’t a lying, manipulative, self centered vampire who used him and his brother. She loved him, perhaps just as much as he loved her. Just as much as you loved him.  Stefan loved you once, before Katherine, Elena and vampirism. Long ago, when he was your Stefan. The same Stefan that used to bring you flowers and help you sneak out to watch the stars. The same Stefan that called you his, that promised that you both would get married and leave that town. The same Stefan that died because of Katherine Pierce, even before vampirism. You believed that he didn’t love you anymore because of the compulsion. When he died and became a vampire, he turned you. But he wasn’t the same, and his feelings for you died with his humanity.  You were by his side. Pulling him from the edge, holding him when the guilt became too much, helping him feed. You were there. But it wasn’t enough. He liked you, sure, but he loved Katherine. And now he loves Elena. You are still by his side. After all this time, you still can’t leave him, hoping that he would realize his mistake and come back to you. You couldn’t fall in love with anyone, couldn’t move on but couldn’t leave him.   You wanted to hate him. You wanted to hate him for breaking your heart, for requesting that you stayed by his side. But you couldn’t. That’s what love does to people. It consumes them. But love isn’t fair. And every time you looked at Stefan, you think of what you could have been, what you should have been, what you would have been if you were still human. And it hurt, so you decided to hate Elena instead.

“Hating Elena won’t make it better, you know?” Damon. Perhaps the only person in the world that understood that feeling more than you. He stood by your side, while you watched the two dance, offering you a drink.  “ How do you do it? Pretend that it doesn’t bother you?” You asked, accepting the drink and looking at him. You knew how he felt, and you could tell that it hurt him as much as it hurt you.  “You’ll get used to it” He sighted. And you two stood there, watching the love of your life’s fall in love with each other.  “ It must be hard.” He said, you stared at him once again. He continued “ being friendzoned and all. You have to pretend to like him the way he likes you. When you pretend to hate, people don’t care about how you feel, so it’s way easier.” You sigh. Looking at Damon’s blue eyes, all you could see was sadness. He pretended not to care so it hurt less. But it doesn’t. You knew that feeling all too well.  Stefan had his arms wrapped around Elena while he spinned her around the ball room. He was smiling in a way that you couldn’t make him. He was happy and you couldn’t let your sadness ruin it for him. They both laugh about a comment Elena made. You wished you couldn’t hear it. You also wished you couldn’t hear Damon’s sad sigh.  Stefan’s  hand moved to Elenas  waist, you felt like you couldn’t breathe any more. Your heart broke once more. They were looking at each other with such love that it hurt. You almost forgot about the man that was by your side. If you felt bad Damon must have felt a million times worst. He lost the girl of his dreams to his brother, the person who made him the most insecure, for the second time.

You reached for his hand and surprisingly, he gave it to you. You squeezed his hand tightly, in a comforting manner, telling him that you understood. He put his arm around your shoulder, pulling you close trying to comfort you as well. In a way, his presence was already making everything better. And you stood there, comforting each other.

“Y’know, Stefan is really stupid. He never should have let you slip away.” He whispered in your ear, making you grin.

“Mhm, he is really stupid” Damon continued. “ He is so stupid that he is dancing with the wrong girl. Can you believe that? If a person that awesome was in love with me I could never let them go. “

“ Elena is really stupid too.” You said, making him smirk.

““They are both a really stupid couple” you concluded.  Damon, whose hand was still round your shoulder, grabbed your arm and spinned you around.

““Well, this is still a party and I’m really drunk so let’s dance until we can’t remember why we were sad”

““We were sad? I thought we didn’t care about them!” You joked, and Damon rolled his eyes trying to hide his smirk

You smiled, and let him spin you around. Stefan was still  the man you were in love with, but  that won’t make you and Damon have less fun.

Found this screen accurate colour on Depop a couple months ago. Bought it right away! One of my most worn Elena Items for sure!

Also seen on season 1, episode 14. Is the highly sought after aeropostale henley top with ruffled front. Almost impossible to find especially in this colour! Guess who still managed to get her hands on it tho! Got it from another collector in my size! . Its so flattering and body hugging but i dont have the heart to wear it regularly since its so valuable to me.

Looking at them, normal, dancing, was bizarre. They lived like usual, and nothing, utterly nothing changed. Life actually got good. So good, in fact, that people started getting married. First, Elena and Stefan, now, Caroline. She looked like a proper Italian bride from heaven in her long-tailed white floating dress with puff shoulders and embroidery. The embroidery on her chest, the symbol of her supreme beauty and fairness. You saw her and her husband like through a matted glass, whether you cried or was already drunk, or the colored smoke from the smoke machine got into your eyes. It was a picture from a movie dedicated to somebody else, never in you life have you felt so helplessly distant, so detached from them. The beautiful guests, dressed so impressively outlandish, like the marriage party was located on a sea shore, no less. To actually remember that you were still in Mystic Falls, you had to actually leave the tent, but who would dare? Even with the smoke getting into your eyes, and the dense air, the irritating yellow of the flowers, while Caroline was given into marriage by her mum. The ceremony felt like an ancient ritual that you sneaked to. You looked at yourself in the reflection of a knife. your face and hair were still done, and your elegant purple dress still drew glances. However, when the eyes drawn made out who was hiding under all the makeup and the garments, people looked away. You had been invited and actively worked on by Elena to enjoy yourself, but nobody wanted you here. People felt uneasy around you now. They said, why won't she leave the town if she hates it so much here?

The worst part, objectively, was watching Elena and Stefan dance. And Damon, devouring them with his hungry, resltless eyes. What an irony, that someone who has fresh scars from their love taken away from them, would do the same to another. Damon had been robbed of love not once, but twice, by his own brother. First, Katherine, now, Elena, who turned towards the light after all. And now, look at them go! Her in her dark pink dress, with flowers slithering along her waist, and her long golden hair, she was almost as stunning as the bride. No matter how much Elena tries to plain herself down, it never works, she is always the moment of the room. You unglued your stare from the couple and looked at Damon again. Out of coincidence, you both downed your glasses at the same time. There was bitterness in the way you resembled each other, actually. Damon knew very well what it's like, to see someone else have your happiness. Only, to you, Stefan and Elena weren't the burning sore in the eye, but more like sculptures. They meant nothing to you but missed opportunity. They were too beautiful to approach. Killing Kai, Damon told you: he's not for you, like he always did. Now he was watching his brother telling him the same in every little move he made. The little ring on Elena's finger told him he would never get what he craves the most, and maybe, Damon Salvatore was cursed to fall in love again and again with the same person, and being robbed of them. With curiosity you thought, what if he waits until the next Elena is born, and tries it once again. He'll have to wait until she is of age, until she is herself. And then someone else will come and tear her away from his hands. Maybe it even will be you.

Gloating about someone else's misery was not good at all, but you weren't left with much. Gloating was all you had left to do. You had nobody to dance with, nobody to carry away from this wedding when you get ugly drunk. Damon did a horrendous thing when he killed Kai but kept you like a pet, like a fake friend, so that you could still breathe, because you were local, and because all of this was a horrible mistake. He knew better, he always did, like a tyranic older brother. He was crooked on the inside, Damon, and cruel, and very, very alone. You wondered if he had dreams of Elena.

Oh you felt mutilated. You didn't miss him per se, you were too numb to feel that. Exhausted by the non-stop nightmares, and sore about everything, tired of constant explosive fights. But you felt like someone crawled inside of you and stole a couple of ribs. You were one step away from being labeled as the villain in this story, hense the purple dress. Nobody gets to stay good if they're in love with a homocidal witcher. Who respects and regards nobody. You were now in the middle, on a thin thread, between friends and animosity, and nobody really knew what to do with you. In the depths of their souls they started to feel guilty, but everybody found a way to justify it. In truth, the ways to justify killing Kai were mostly neatly lined up in cemetery. You could go there any day and bitch about your lost love. But it was more than love, more than addiction. If there exists something that describes the overall predisposition, that would be it. You could do nothing about your dark side, and they could do nothing about you.

So, why not leave?

Every day you found a new reason. What if you bleed once you leave Mystic Falls, where you at least know what to do. You can go around and quarrel with the Salvatore about everything. If you leave, you'll have to face the shattering realization that life without magic, without the hunt, does not interest you anymore. Living in a bubble is so fascinating and so comforting.

You wanted to be home, where, in the drawer of your little desk, you had a notebook where you wrote down your weird dreams. Last three or four ones you couldn't remember, and it puzzled you. On the better days you were glad, because almost every time, you woke up screaming.

The last one had been especially horrible. As you sat up on your bed, you hallucinated shadows in the bedroom. There was burning sensation all over your body. You couldn't catch it. You didn't know. You just knew that those dreams should have been placed neatly in a big picture, but the memory, and the fragments, didn't make any sense.

Maybe it was time to come to terms with it. It was almost a year already, and nothing changed. Life went on, on the most part. Maybe it was time to be normal again, and be like them. Pretty dresses, busy noses, easy boyfriends, and the drama. Collective decisions, vampire shenanigans. Maybe you could have a beautiful Mediterranean wedding, too, in a tall, soft beige tent. Maybe you should let Mystic Falls consume you and be a part of the crew.

Caroline, or whoever it was, that compiled the wedding playlist, decided that Lost Without You by blink-182 was a good choice for a melancholic mood. Slow dance, sure.

Since he died, the little signs you invented for yourself, like little blinking stars, followed you everywhere. And now, listening to the song that definitely didn't belong to Caroline, to this place or their universe, made you feel like there was something to wait for. You didn't take the hints seriously, you just felt traumatized.

But champaign suddenly tasted a little better.

The whole thing starts with a simple question of what does Y/N contributes to the team to which Albon answers that Y/N is the social media manager. The interviewer made the mistake of commenting how anyone could do that job. This statement seems to anger the rookie as he defends her by listing down her educational achievements and how her role is important to the team. Albon refused to answer any question with that reporter and Christian Horner has placed an indefinite ban for his drivers to speak with the reporter.

Stelena shippers claim that Damon saved Caroline from a werewolf bite and was acting more selfless for Elena's forgiveness and to look good in front of her and that if she stopped caring about him he wouldn't care about her family and friends.

Damon did save Caroline from a werewolf bite. Tyler was going for her, and he pulled a Rose. I won't ignore the fact that while he did save Caroline from Tyler, Elena was at the center of his choice to rescue her in the first place as everyone forgot all about them in their desire to protect Elena. And at the same time, I won't ignore the fact that it didn't take long for Caroline to talk him into rescuing Tyler. Despite getting bit and nearly dying from it, Damon never sought revenge, never got even. He took it because he chose it. He could've easily let Caroline take the bite, but he put her life above his. He doesn't care about Caroline because of Elena. He cares about her because of Liz.

I wouldn't say that Damon was acting more selfless for Elena's forgiveness and to look good in front of her. Quite the opposite. He doesn't like Elena seeing the good in him all that often because he risks disappointing her as a result, and that's not his style. Damon shows her who he is at any given moment because he's a vampire and has been living as one for 145 years. If Damon wanted to impress Elena, she wouldn't be blind to the fact that he gave Rose a dream when she died, or blind to the fact that he apologized to Jeremy after Anna did. Damon would make sure Elena knew of these things if it was all about looking good. Damon would rather Elena accept him for who he is - as he is. If fans truly believe Damon acting a dick was meant to impress Elena, there's something wrong with them, and he acts a dick on a regular.

Damon would never stop caring about Elena's friends and family if she stopped caring about him. She told him to his face that he lost her forever, and it didn't phase him. It didn't stop him from being who he is. Damon is quite capable of caring outside of Elena. Most of his friendships are actually built that way. He just doesn't trust people as he trusts her. Doesn't connect with them as he does her. I know some fans don't get it, but she's a human doppelganger of the very woman that defined him as a vampire. She is the voice of his humanity, but that doesn't mean he's not capable of caring outside of her. He's just more vulnerable in her absence. It's easy for someone like Damon to slip back into old habits. As they say, old habits die hard.

BONNIE & NORA

There was something there, ok. There was potential! Personally, I don’t think Nora was always treated very well by Mary Louise. She deserved a better partner (that being said, Nora/Mary Louise had cute moments). I think it would’ve been interesting to see Bonnie explore her sexuality, and I’m pretty sure Kat Graham said she would’ve been open to that. I don’t think they would’ve been an endgame couple, but they could’ve had something!

ELENA & ELIJAH

The actors had chemistry. Idk why, because I’m pretty sure they weren’t supposed to, but they did. Daniel Gillies literally said he thought Elijah had feelings for Elena. And that kiss scene when no humanity Elena was pretending to be Katherine? Come on now.

I think they had a few similarities, and if they’d got together, it wouldn’t have been a very dramatic relationship.

That being said, I am glad Elejah didn’t happen because Elena didn’t need yet another guy chasing her. It would’ve been too much, but if Stelena and Delena couldn’t happen, I would choose these two.

KLAUS & BONNIE

The wasted potential of these two 😩 even the actors wanted it to happen.

I can just imagine, Klaus being initially interested in Bonnie because of her power, and because he wanted to get a Bennett witch on his side, so he starts trying to charm her, which Bonnie would see through. She’d deny and challenge him, and probably try to kill him a few more times, and all the while Klaus starts to get real feelings for her.

It’s honestly quite strange that Klaus didn’t try to connect with her more to win her over to his side. A powerful Bennett witch? The one that almost killed him at the sacrifice? He should’ve been much more interested, but the writers said no. 🤓

I really love the Steferine fic bc it somehow never overshadows Stelena. Like, it’s clear that Stelena’s bond transcends everything, and it’s almost a given that Stefan’s thing with Katherine is temporary. I know that it makes Katherine SICK

(Also the fact that even in an Elena and Katherine fight that ELENA started, Stefan is more concerned with Elena’s well-being and completely unconcerned with Katherine. He even got mad at her for fighting back 😭. Like, it happens every time.)

And the only thing keeping Katherine from killing Elena is her knowing that Stefan would fucking hate her guts so much that he’d actually kill her. Like, Stefan repeatedly reminds her that Elena is the love of his life and the only one he gave everything to. It’s such fucked up dynamic and it almost makes me lose respect for Katherine bc she has NO pride, NO shame, no nothing when it comes to Stefan. Like girl stand up 💀

And Elena’s reaction is amazing and very true to her bc of course she’d be jealous and threatened by Katherine’s thing with Stefan, but it’s almost like…girl, chill out, bc at the end of the day, there is no competition, you know what I mean?

I do wonder what would happen if Elena decided to move away from Mystic Falls just to focus on herself for a while and get away from the chaos and let Stefan sort it out on his own. I’d imagine that she’d let Stefan know that her moving away isn’t her giving up, that she still has hope for him and that she’ll be waiting for him whenever he decides to get his shit together (bc she knows he will). But I’m not even sure if that’s would be in character for her since she has a tendency to NOT stay away from Stefan.

So my fic is basically predicated in how these two interactions between them go

but messier and more toxic lmao where in the show she quasi-pleads with him to feel something for her and he won't/can't do it but when she walks away he still stops her to offer compassion and understanding whereas in the fic, she demands he express that they share something special, something he doesn't or has never shared with Elena or anyone else and he doesn't/can't do it because it's not true (bonus it drives her crazy) but when the suggestion of ending what they're doing arises, he stops it so it's this cycle.

Katherine bc she has NO pride, NO shame, no nothing when it comes to Stefan. Like girl stand up 💀

I was just thinking about the things she's done/said in the show

and the things that she's threatened

despite the fact that Stefan has always been like

I was like, she really doesn't have pride when it comes to Stefan, which as I've spoken about before is also about conquering him rather than loving him

She is more in love with the idea of Stefan loving her than she actually is with Stefan. That’s why she hijacks Elena’s body in season 5 and attempts to seduce him because let’s think about that. Katherine hijacked the body of a woman she hates and tries to seduce Stefan as that woman, a woman whose break up with him was a trigger for his PTSD, a woman who was in a relationship with his brother and she doesn’t think or care about how seducing him as this woman would fuck with his head. It’s also why in season 2 she threatens to kill Elena while Stefan watches because it doesn’t matter if he’s scarred or hurt, what matters is owning him.

but because I think there's canon that indicates the lengths she'll go and that she has no problem looking desperate, it allows me to do that in the fic too.

I also wanted to show that when Elena is needling at Katherine, she finds an understanding in how addictive a toxic cycle with Katherine can be because even in this, she and Stefan can have an unparalleled understanding and connection because as I've said in the past

Like I’ve said before, SE reminds me of this Outlander quote, “Maybe the only way to save Jamie is for someone to step into the darkness with him” which essentially means, Elena is in it with Stefan. She is there with him.

So maybe, Elena will get a little dark herself.

It is extremely cold. Elena's felt cold before, but it still sends a jolt through her when the doctor squeezes the gel out onto her bare stomach. She takes a deep breath - partially to counteract it and partially to steady her racing heart. It's running cross-country right now.

Stefan takes her hand and locks their fingers. With just the gesture and the smile in his eyes, he manages to settle the storm inside of her. He's right there with her.

They both look at the monitor when the doctor begins to speak.

"There it is," she says with a smile. "Your baby looks completely healthy. If you look right there, you'll see its heart which is beating beautifully."

She can see it. The pulsing pixels are so strong that she thinks she can feel it in her stomach. It's impossible, she knows as a doctor herself, but that doesn't stop her from imagining it.

"Do we want to know the sex?" the doctor asks, glancing over at them.

They look at each other. They hadn't really talked about it, but Elena knows the answer. She nods and turns back to the doctor, swallowing down her nerves.

"Yeah, we do."

"Okay." The doctor turns the monitor to better let them see the scan as she says, "Then this is your little girl. Do we have any names in mind yet?"

Elena barely hears the question. She stares at the monitor. Her baby. Her daughter. The pixels clump together and blur as tears overwhelm her. But she smiles - laughs, actually. One of pure joy.

Stefan breathes deeply, pressing his smile against her knuckles. He has enough coherency to say to the doctor, "Uh, a few. Some family names. We had some picked out for a boy and a girl."

"Oh yeah, were any top of the list for a girl?"

Elena sniffles and nods shakily, blinking her vision clear again. Mostly. When she thinks about voicing the answer, her eyes well up again and she nearly breaks open like a dam.

It's okay. Stefan swoops in, squeezing her hand lightly to let her know he's got it. She can take as much time as she needs right now.

"Jenna," he says softly, flicking his eyes back to the monitor, clearing his throat. "Jenna was top of the list. We were trying to choose between Miranda and Sarah for a middle name."

Just hearing it sets Elena's emotions off again. A feeling washes over her, picturing her mom and Jenna. They would be with her right now. They should be here. Crying with her, not just tributes.

But as she looks at her baby, a smile spreads across her face and she presses her fingers to her lips. They're here. She just can't see them, but they're here.

"Jenna Salvatore," Elena whispers. Another light laugh of pure joy bubbles out of her and she turns to look properly at Stefan. "She's really real. We're having a little girl."

"We are," Stefan says happily, grinning back as he cradles her face with his other hand. He pushes up to kiss her but neither of them can contain their emotions long enough. He presses their foreheads together and whispers, as if to himself, "She's real."
