SPFPP 265 Freedom in the Questioning of the Unknown
After losing the audio where our guest Lauren shared surviving abuse in a marriage, we FINALLY got to revisit the convo. Apologies in advanced just because my mics didn't have the setup I thought I bought, so there's significant moments of background noise between the pug and Lauren's partner. Basically this sounds like every other podcast episode haha. I think this episode will connect with people who've aimed to fix people, and who live by loyalty due to their religious ties. Some people sty in relationships too long after their expiration date, and Lauren shares a story that demonstrates that well.

You're so right and you should speak louder actually because that adds so much to Arthur feeling like he let it happen and therefore makes all his earlier actions of bravery and spite null. It also adds to John's little speech about it not being Arthur's fault that he did what he had to do to survive.
Seeing this season as John learning who he is and what that means to him alongside Arthur beginning to process what he's been through and how that affects him is really neat. They're both coming to terms with who they are as people but the journeys they're going on are different.

listening to a podcast about monkeypox and i'm aware that sexual rep in pride already got unnecessary negativity but there are some conclusions drawn from the fact that some of the initial few cases happened around fetish festivals because it's spread through sex and people are notoriously known to have sex, esp since you're having a festival around it, so i just want to say that queer people please please please be safe. getting someone pregnant isn't the only thing you should be concerned about when having sex.

POV: The Bakusquad has a podcast. (18+)
(Chargebolt has a podcast and forces them to participate—- it’s basically bakugo calling people stupid)
Denki: This post is from AITA.
Bakugo: Which if you have to f*cking ask, you probably are.
Kirishima: Dude.
———
Denki: …and then op found out he was cheating on her with her sister-
Mina: Set his house on fire.
Kirishima: I don’t think we should encourage-
Bakugo: Kill your sister.
Kirishima: SERIOUSLY DUDE?!
———
Sero: I just- I feel that people like this shouldn’t reproduce-
Denki: Hell yeah, let’s legalize court ordered castration.
Sero: nO-
Mina: Now hold on, he’s actually onto something here-
———
Denki: So… Mineta’s new condom business.
Mina: I’ll risk pregnancy.
Bakugo: I would rather actually catch an STD than use anything on my body that grape freak has touched.
———
Denki: I thought I was going to die.
Mina: Awe :(
Bakugo: Yeah, wouldn’t recommend.
———
Sero: So you’re, like, not a natural redhead?!
Mina: No! He uses gas station box dye-
Bakugo: Gas station box dye?!
Denki: Kirishima, no!
Kirishima: It’s the perfect shade!
Mina: You’ll be bald by 30.
Bakugo: I think Jeanist would’ve actually murdered me if he knew I was letting you do that shit.

Hi Sex Witch, I was wondering if you had any book recommendations for easing prejudices/self judgement regarding STDs?
hi anon,
I haven't read any such books personally yet - and it doesn't seem to be a very full field - but in looking for an answer to your query I discovered Strange Bedfollows: Adventures in the Science, History, and Surprising Secrets of STDs, released in 2021 by sex educator Dr. Ina Park. it sounds pretty dang cool, and I'll definitely be checking it out as soon as I can! maybe it's time for a sex witch book club?
in the meantime, you may also like this episode of the podcast Unladylike; it's a few years old but sticks out in my brain as a great exploration of living with the stigma of herpes.
this video by the perpetually applicable Dr. Doe breaking down the facts about STIs with 0 judgment and some pretty cute puppies
youtube
and the works of Ella Dawson, a writer well-known for being extremely candid about living life with herpes

I didn't get a weird vibe from EB but it was odd how Rhett said they need to "feed the" shippers. Sure, Rhett. 👀
I don't think anyone had even speculated about their camping meetup. Haha
Tumblr media
I am gonna explain both here because they go together.
Finally watched EB, just in time to get done with it before the new R&L video.
I didn’t see a weird vibe in EB either. Rhett indeed had COVID and in case he had been annoyed throughout his sickness with Link due to the reasons we discussed, it was over by the time of this recording. He didn’t however say a single thing about GME except that he felt horrible throughout. But no afterthoughts on the GME whatsoever. And since Link pointedly did not include Rhett among the people with positive views on it (himself and the crew) in his solo episode, it seems we will likely never have Rhett’s takeaway from GME3.
The one strange moment was when Rhett explained how he caught the virus after having sex with Jessie - again. Link was weird about Rhett’s sex with his wife. Water is wet. He didn’t say anything too much so you probably wouldn’t get it from the podcast format but it was visible in the video format. I had found it interesting last year how after so much time evading covid, Rhett and Link both caught it at the exact same time after vacationing together in a mountain town. But Rhett was adamant he caught it later from Jessie during the sex they were having and that Link must have caught it during his next vacation with his family. Now in this podcast, Link said that he had probably caught covid last year from Rhett and Rhett gave him a slight side look and said “no it cannot be because timing” and Link was like “yeah yeah you right”.
Of course this could have totally been the case (although Covid can make a lot of days to show the symptoms) but the funny thing here is… that you don’t have to have sex to get Covid lol That was one of the things that has driven the world crazy about it - that it is easy to catch! Rhett could have perfectly be in the same general area as Jessie and there would still be a high chance to get it especially since they had not figured out Jessie had Covid. Take me for example. I know how I caught it but how the person I caught it from caught it in the first place will remain the biggest mystery in the universe… But Rhett makes this almost seem like an std lol Again I am not saying he is not telling the truth but that it is funny how he overexplains getting Covid - like, he could also say “Jessie was sick and I got it too”. But the previous year he had also analysed how he was on top of her and their mouths were aligned and they were breathing into each other basically and, okay, Rhett you caught Covid. It happens a lot, trust me. We get it 😂
Now let’s go to what pissed me off both here and in GMM. I saw that the GMM thing was viewed positively or as a joke here on tumblr and I don’t know if I have got this the wrong way or something.
So in GMM Rhett chose to say in an irrelevant moment that they are trying to do certain things for the clicks, and apparently these things are taken seriously by certain fans who analyse them and they are so adamant about the conclusions that they draw regarding their lives that this certainty is so overwhelming that even they forget what the actual truth is or they end up agreeing or they are conditioned to agree. Link said ironically that this is very healthy. Rhett said all that with a smile.
I saw people here taking this as part joke-part semi-confirmation that some things in the theories are correct.
In EB he claimed Link made it sound like they had sex or fondled each other during their short encounter during camping. Fun fact: Link didn’t really sound like that, he said “we didn’t get into it that much” or something along those lines but well this can have a generic meaning, you have to be suspicious in advance or on edge to immediately consider that Link meant there was some light petting going on. I mean, Rhett eventually made it seem more suspicious than it was before.
But Rhett went on saying there are people living their lives wanting to believe that this was a romantic date. And much like in GMM he said they were mentioning things in such a way in order to cater to such fans and get the views. These are very similar statements in two different videos and it seems this is a thought taking a lot of space in Rhett’s brain lately.
Now here’s a few things:
The phrasing of this is exceptionally demeaning. While there are people believing or suspecting such things founded on a frankly strange behaviour from these two (including me lol), it is a wild leap to assume they are living their lives for it. Most people are able to make the connections or draw conclusions at real time while watching THEIR content. And then they can go on with their own lives. Given how fast they managed to lose some of their most dedicated shippers a few years ago, I would say that in fact most people don’t live their lives for it but some simply see it and some might find it cute? Appealing? Interesting? Idk. For me it’s intrigue more than anything else - I am curious how this thing will pan out. And a bit concerned since it’s been years I watch them - dunno how concerned I will keep being if Rhett keeps saying shit like that lol
The claim that they do it for the views - don’t make me laugh now. How will you get the views from it when all your content’s titles are about Doritos and sriracha?!?!?? The following they have gathered around them is in truth mostly foodies or generally people who like to consume various products and nowadays fewer viewers care about their friendship, their dynamic, their personal stories. They drove those successfully out. Whatever innuendos exist within the content (save for GME) are incidental, do not interest a great number of viewers and do not really attract a reliable and steady audience. You only have to check the views honestly. If this went in sync with how suspiciously homoromantic Rhett and Link act, there should be rises in the views, not drops! And their R&L videos would have been soaring, not struggling.
If Rhett says that they do things to attract shippers but then shippers get too serious and there is some sort of violation in their personal lives (that’s in fact what he implied, despite the smile and all), then the fault still lies with them. If he means they initially bait shippers this way, well since it gets out of hand and since as he claims it is all unfounded, well, here’s a solution: 🌺DON’T. BAIT. PEOPLE.🌼 If there’s no truth and it’s all strategically planned in those strange moments, then surely it will be very easy to stop. On the other hand, if despite all those concerns expressed, they still choose to perpetuate this for the “””””views”””””” and the money, well then I can’t feel sorry for them. It’s their choice. One of them really said “we are desperate”. Yeah I could tell that by the nipple suck. But if you are really getting desperate, maybe something doesn’t work right in the top of the Mythical Pyramid. And the problem is not the viewers, shippers or not. I was more understanding a few years ago but now I get the old shippers’ frustration more - you fuck up and then you say “oh it’s the fault of the one watching me that I fucked up but I need them to watch me so I am gonna keep fucking up” No thanks, if you ask me. Stop fucking up.

coming up with the most excuses possible to justify stanning jon bernthal as if anything in that link is fabricated when it's all straightforward from his podcast. lmao fucking weirdos. doing the most to protect someone who contributes to keeping the abusers in hollywood in their circle by giving them a platform to paint them in a sympathetic light. "oh how sweet of jon he accepts all types of people in his podcast even the IDF involved in bombing people" so sweet and so accepting! "awww he gave shia labeouf a stage to tell his story awww. of course according to you he deserves that even when he almost killed his victim fka twigs and knowingly gave her an std" so sweet!!!!!!!!!
this is how you bernthal stans sound like. fucking embarrassing
WELL GOOD MORNING FUCKER! LET THE BULLSHIT BEGIN!!!!
All I have to say is this...
In order for you to insult me, I must value your opinion...
Which I Don't.
And to end it. Everyone has the right to be stupid. But you are abusing your privileges.

CNM Misconception #4
Misconception #4: "People who engage in CNM are more likely to engage in unsafe sex."
Research has found that individuals with CNM do have more sexual partners than those who engage in monogamy, however it was found that they are implementing safer sex strategies at a very high rate. These strategies included consistent condom use, STD testing, and result sharing. When compared to individuals who were sleeping with more than one partner without consent (e.g. cheating), those who engaged in CNM were found to practice safer sex practices.
Open conversation and trust are large parts of participating in CNM, and they tend to lead to safer sex practices within the community.
For references on CNM feel free to check out these links: Association for Psychological Science Podcast, The Inquisitive Mind Article , NPR Podcast, CNM Fact Sheet

Did you see the write up on complex.com? He gave her an STD.
Is anyone surprised?? 🤮 One more example, in a never-ending list, of how truly gross this man is.
Shortly after their situation fell apart, she noticed she was "itchy" and "kind of smelly," so she spoke to her gynecologist and concluded that Hammer was responsible for her ailments.

I read some of Girlvert by Oriana Small/Ashley Blue, a memoir of her time in extreme pornography (it was mentioned as an aside in an episode of the podcast SFUltra about a book by another form porn actor, The Magician by Christopher Zeischegg, who also wrote a memoir, Body to Job). It's something I would only recommend approaching to a very select audience, because it's frequently a distressing, nauseating book. When she and her boyfriend went into porn, they were already party kids with major coke and ecstasy habits into extreme sex, so they are alarmingly reckless about getting into sketchy situations. She does a good job narrating matter-of-factly and recreating the thought processes that made all the decisions seem reasonable at the time, and, while being aware that a lot of what happened was bad, she takes some pride in the stuff she was able to push herself to do. I had to take a break when I came to the second chapter titled after the STD experience she'll be detailing in it.
Anyway, I ended up on the Internet Adult Film Database (she changes the names of some people in the book, but not much, and gives enough details about the people and of companies, scenes, video series, etc. that it's very easy to figure out who she's talking about, such as terrifying "Pro Trusion" in the book being the terrifying Khan Tusion, who was recently revealed to be a politically connected real estate developer). While looking up one of the people I ended up on the deaths page of the database, which is a strange, grim litany:

That podcast was refreshing lmao. Edvin is out of the purity and correctness box and shows he is a normal person. He is living as he should!
I am literally dead over all the people praising him like some saint for getting tested for STDs 😂😂 a brave brave hero and safe-ish sex spokesperson ✊ there’s absolutely nothing they cannot put him on a pedestal for… are they glitching because they can’t wrap their heads around him cracking the polished image they have created in their heads? 😭. I absolutely love him for giving zero fucks. And good for him for getting laid!

Spanning the years 2018 to 2022, follows Lacy Hilgreen, a recovering addict, and her dysfunctional Alabama family through the flea market circuits of the Deep South. Fresh out of rehab, fresh out of money and fresh out of options, Lacy is forced to leave Los Angeles and return to her home in rural Alabama and help with the family business to make ends meet. The flea market is no place for a recovering addict, however, as the family uses their booth as a cover for their meth operation. Using the code word "wholesale", customers of the Hilgreens' booths can purchase some of Alabama's finest crystal. Sex tapes, STD's and meth-laced candies are just a few of the topics tackled by South of Sanity, not to mention the family's dealings pre, mid and post pandemic. The Hilgreens keep it brutally real in its depiction of recovery, redemption, and hilarious roadblocks encountered along the way. Lacy is joined on her journey by her brother Mike and sister-in-law Ila, who run the family flea market, her hellion nephews Rowdy and Ryder, wild niece Rebel, Ila's cousin and resident alcoholic Jeff, her cousin Tori, the only "sane" one in the family, and a one-night stand that lasts way longer than planned. Shy Pilgreen, Robert Peters, #JenniferPierceMathus and #ShacettaListenbee star in South of Sanity, premiering on digital July 1. ● Media Inquiries: October Coast www.octobercoastpr.com

Here is the Ask Us Anything episode of the podcast.
They had so many questions sent in the could do like 20 episodes of this format.
Did they get to choose where they sat in the choir room? Most of the time the cast got to choose their spots. Sometimes they would choose based on the storyline for that episode. Some directors like Paris would assign them seats. It also depended on the scene and how shots were set up.
What was the hardest song they had to sing on the show? Kevin’s top 3 are Footloose, At Last, and PYT. He had a 102 fever when recorded it. Jenna’s were Dog Day’s, Because You Love Me, and Gangnam Style.
Easiest song: Jenna - Flashdance & Kevin - Stronger by Brittany Spears
What was your least favorite character storyline? Jenna - Artie’s STD storyline & Kevin - Anytime Artie responded to a serious situation super insensitively and Artie’s STD storyline. He said it was fun but insane. Taylor Swift visited the set during this episode. She was working on something at Paramount at the time.
What song would Tina sing from Taylor Swifts first Midnights album? Jenna and Tina would sing Mastermind.
Was there really so much drama like the media reported? There was not so much drama on set. There were peaks and valleys. It was a large cast and sometimes emotions ran high.
Have you signed any NDA’s that keep you from talking poorly about another costar? No, no NDA’s were signed during glee or post glee that would stop anyone from talking about anyone else.
What were there favorite memories from filming in New York (Season 2 finale)? They thought it was going to be long and crazy shoot. They only filmed for like five minutes because the fans were crazy. They had a lot of downtime and fun. They celebrated Jenna and Dianna’s birthdays and watched the royal wedding. The script was not finished and they were shooting with 3/4ths of the script. There was paparazzi everywhere. Kevin felt so lucky because they got to shut down areas of Central Park and Times Square. He felt like a rockstar. Jenna was home and said it was nice to be home.
Thoughts on the glee novels released in the first few seasons? No thoughts because they did not know there were novels.
Favorite Amber Riley performance? And I’m Telling You, Ain’t No way (Kevin said the tour version was unreal. She made it look so easy), and River Deep Mountain High.
Jenna watched a YouTube video ranking all the Tina songs because she didn’t remember all the songs she sang. Now she is going to go down a rabbit hole and watch them for all the characters.
Were any of the guest stars divas? No. The guest stars were usually the easiest, coolest, and happy to be there. Gwyneth, Kate Hudson, and Sarah Jessica Parker were all awesome. Kevin said he remembers Kate Hudson hanging out in base camp and asking if the schedule was always crazy. She would hang out with the cast all the time. Everyone was really really nice.
Did being the only two OGs that graduated in season 5 bond you together? Jenna said it didn’t feel like they were the only OGs. They had Chord and Darren. Everybody else felt like they were part of the crew. They only found out they were juniors at the panel at Comic Con when they announced it to everyone. They were happy to be in the choir room for another year. It meant they still had a job. They didn’t know if they would bring everyone to New York. They still had a check for another season.
Is it true that the writers would add storylines about you in real life to annoy you all? They definitely wrote from truth. They saw relationships and friendships forming. They saw certain things and situations happen and they will get to those in the podcast soon. The writers were inspired as they got to know the cast better. They did write to truth but not all of it. They didn’t do it to annoy the cast. Jenna was in musical theater and had crushes on a lot of gay men which inspired Tina falling in love with Blaine. Jenna said they will talk about that storyline.
There were a lot of questions about everyone hooking up. The questions were wild. Kevin said just think about your college years. There was no drama. There wasn’t a lot of cross pollination happening as Jenna put it. She said its also not their story to tell.
How did you feel about season 6? Did you feel like your characters were pushed out? Jenna said no she didn’t feel like she was being pushed out. It was a mutual thing between her and the producers. It was something she wanted to do and she was fine taking a small step back. She felt removed from the show. Kevin felt removed as well. The felt disconnected because they were so used to being their all the time. Kevin liked where their characters ended up.
Did Jenna do the ad libs in Express Yourself? Jenna said she doesn’t know. They all did al libs in that song. She doesn’t remember.
Kevin said Phil the sound man would have the studio file of all the tracks and when they would lip sync he would turn up the ad libs so they could hear them. Kevin’s would ask him to solo out things for him because sometimes it was hard to tell who was doing the ad lib.
What is the best prank you have done to a cast mate? Kevin and Jenna both said they were not pranksters but were pranked by others. Telly, Diana, and Naya were egging people like Pretty Little Liar like A. Jenna came back to her trailer one day and there was an A on her vanity mirror written in Sriracha and an empty bottle and they left some secret about her. This went on for weeks. When they went on tour they got Samsung phones and they would get mysterious texts from A.
They had the auction winner Madeline from Snixxmas on the podcast.
Are there any specific storylines that resonated with them? Kevin - Kurt & Burt storylines. It was nice to see a healthy gay son and accepting father relationship. It helped transform people’s views on how this can be done in healthy and productive way. It’s also Jenna’s answer. The winner said the college storylines resonated with her.
Do you have a favorite season finale? At some point 2009 was supposed to be the finale. Jenna said it could have ended their for her. Kevin said season 2 when they filmed in New York. It was chaos but it also felt like they had finished their exams and go to have fun. There was one day in New York where Kevin and Jenna showed up to work in the same outfit.
Do they have any other favorite directors? Outside of Ryan, Ian, and Brad they enjoyed working with Eric Stoltz. He came to work in a suit. He expected them to be prepared and didn’t want them to rely on the script. As intimidating as that could be he was so into the characters. It meant a lot to have someone thinking about the characters outside of the scripts. It could be daunting having a new director. Eric did it in a respectful way but also took charge. There were directors that let everybody else take the lead and that makes for a really messy time behind the scenes. They would ask Ryan to bring back Eric because they loved him.
They asked Madeline what her favorite glee song is and she said it is I Believe In A Thing Called Love. She likes a good rock song.
They asked her what is one of her favorite group numbers? Adele mash up of Rumor Has It and Someone Like You. Kevin said that one gets better with time.
Does she have a dream storyline? She would have loved to see more Tina and Artie. Kevin and Jenna said great answer.
Come back next week for another recap.
