Studies have shown that interaction with plants may actually help reduce stress. So here is our "on-line" solution to enable you to still get your plant fix: in lieu of you physically coming into the store, we'll do our best to bring the store to you! Each day, we'll post pictures of plants currently in stock, along with price and pot size. To reserve a specific plant, you can call the store at 613.445.5214, email us at info@beyondthehouse.ca, or leave a message on Facebook or Instagram. Payment can be made over the phone or by e-transfer and we can arrange for either free delivery in the local area or pickup. If picking up, we make sure the plant is well wrapped and place it outside once you are close to arriving. Please note that on-line sales can also be made for other products in the store. We have a great selection of seeds, soils, giftware, Bee by the Sea products, indoor pots and much more. Day 13 of my cultural immersion journey has been a rollercoaster of emotions, leaving me both exhausted and intrigued. 🎢 The past two days have been filled with uncertainty, teetering on the edge of homelessness. It's taken a toll on me, and today, weariness has settled in as I contemplate where I'll stay in Fukushima. However, amidst the fatigue, a ray of sunshine appeared in the form of my kind-hearted host, Grandpa Mika. 🌞 He treated me to Yamagata bread, a delightful delicacy with a fluffy and chewy texture that surpasses ordinary supermarket bread. We also savored Yamagata milk, indulging in its creamy goodness. To top it off, he prepared spaghetti infused with his family's special twist. As we bonded over the meal, Grandpa Mika shared fascinating insights about Yamagata. This place is renowned for its diverse agriculture, and the culture here revolves around the practice of exchanging the fruits of one's labor. Such community spirit resonates strongly in Sakata. While uncertainty lingers about my next accommodation, I'm cherishing these moments of connection with Grandpa Mika. In an unexpected turn of events, I received a text from someone in Fukushima. A delectable discovery deserving of 5 stars! But it was my newfound friends' kindness that truly touched my heart. Aware of my work obligations, they took me to a wifi-equipped venue, allowing me to attend virtual meetings while they kept me company. As the day progressed, I found myself facing a familiar dilemma. Once again, my couch surfing host failed to respond! It was a shocking revelation, and I turned to prayer, seeking a miracle from above. The looming question remains: Will this next person finally answer my call? Will I find myself without a place to stay? Or will the kindness of local strangers come to my aid?
