"Jesus, Gwen!" You yelped, flinching back and nearly dropping the supplies in your arms. Gwen smiled sheepishly from her spot on your bed, a breeze coming in through the window you were certain had been closed when you left. Her backpack sat on her lap, tightly squeezed to her chest by her arms.

"Hey."

"The front door is just as effective as a window, Gwen." You huffed softly and entered your room, setting the supplies down on the desk and sorting through them. She watched you, fiddling her thumbs and pursing her lips. If she wanted to do it, she needed to take the leap and hope for the best.

"(Y/N)?"

"Yeah?"

"Do you trust me?" Silly question. She knew the answer, but she needed to be sure. She wanted to hear it in hopes it'd soothe her racing heart.

"Yes. Why? What'd you do?" You paused your movements to look at her over your shoulder, raising your brows at the blonde. Nothing good ever came out of questions like that, especially for someone who had a knack for attracting trouble. She slung her backpack over one shoulder.

"I need to show you something." Gwen exhaled and stood up from your bed, walking toward the window and climbing out onto the fire escape. You blinked, brows furrowing in the slightest at her nervous tone. You followed her out and up the fire escape until you reached the rooftop of the apartment complex.

"Gwen, what's going-"

"Just... promise me you won't freak out."

"Uh-oh."

"It's... It's not that bad. Or bad at all." Gwen assured and rounded the corner, hiding behind the rooftop exit. You tried forming ideas as to what it could possibly be, but all you drew were blanks. Why the rooftop? Why the backpack? None of it made sense, until she stepped out.

In Spider-Woman's suit.

"Oh." Was the only word that slipped out. You stared at her and she stared at you, the mask crumbled up in her fingers. Her eyes flickered around, jumping from your face to the floor to anything within her line of vision.

"Y-Yeah, I... I'm... I'm Spider-Woman." God, she wished Miles or Peter B were around to ease the tension, the silent awkwardness. You soaked in the image of your best friend in the familiar black and white suit. You'd seen pictures and videos of her online, sat at the dinner table while her dad ranted about her, and even caught of glimpse of her once. But nothing could've prepared you for this.

Gwen was a superhero.

Holy shit.

"Wow, okay, uhm..." You laughed and brought a hand to your forehead, blinking rapidly as the information settled in. Gwen's tense figure relaxed and she let a small smile slip, walking back to you and clearing her throat.

"I-I know this is a lot. I just... I couldn't keep it a secret anymore, you know? You're my best friend and so much has happened this past month. I can't keep lying or avoiding everyone. I needed to get this off my chest, and I understand if this is too much for you-"

"Gwen, I'm extremely okay with this. Like, yeah, it's a lot to process right now. It's not everyday you find out your bestie is a goddamn superhero who fights bad guys every other day. I mean, shit, Gwen. Should I be asking for an autograph or something?"

She giggling softly, arms dropping to her sides and smile widening. "A hug would be nice."

this is my Staves Rest au Red. aka i put red in an art rpg so now theyre a funny little salamander person. after the reconciliation fight they washed up on the shore of an island full of these salamander people called Staxies. Just kinda trying to learn to live a normal life now that theyre free from the bullshit that went on in everhood.

Amy and Sammy aren't actually related, they lied for fame on TV and to protect their real identites. Amy is Geoff's kid sister and Sammy is Jacques' cousin and Bridgette's sister. They met at a hotel pool in Cancun in 2010 after Geoff and Bridgette decided to get married as soon as they turned 18, much to their families disapproval. Jacques was at the Olympics, and the stress of missing the wedding is what caused him to drop Josee. Amy and sammy both felt overshadowed by their siblings fame on TV so they decided to create fake names and identities for themselves and audtion as twins. Their real names are Lucia and Margaret, not Amy and Sammy. Lucia would not have been allowed to compete on TD because she was actually 13 years old and Margaret didn't want the world to Google her name because she was arrested on felony charges for driving a tractor through a nordstrom in 2008. They concoted the twin story after watching The Parent Trap in the hotel room together. Later they would burn down the hotel the night before the wedding ceremony and fake their own deaths to assume their new identities. Geoff and Bridgette's wedding was postponed, causing Geoff to go on Ridonculous Race to pay for a new one since they lost their deposit. After Pahkitew, Amy and Sammy fled to Colombia and began working odd jobs until they had a falling out in December 2013, wherein amy escaped to Kenya, assuming the identity of a christian missionary named Alexa Schrought. she spends the rest of her life building schools and hospitals and eventually giving tours under her assumed identity, until she dies at age 80 of natural causes. Sammy continues to live in Colombia, renaming herself Elena. Her whereabouts after 2015 are unknown.

One single handle that stretches between the two back posts. I hadn’t really seen that before, so I looked it up, and I’m still not seeing it very often. Obviously that can’t work on folding wheelchairs, because it’d stop them from folding, but I also don’t see it on rigid wheelchairs.

So anyway, did some research on single-bar push handles, came up with the following applications where they’re currently used:

In situations where they serve as some kind of switch. The two examples of this here are the Staxi and a Quickie Iris tilt-in-space chair. In the case of the Staxi, the wheels only unlock if the brake bar is being held touching the push bar. This is great because the Staxi is a wheelchair meant for people who don’t normally use a wheelchair to be pushed by people who don’t normally push a wheelchair. Trust me, your friend or loved one who drove you to the ER doesn’t actually understand the importance of locking brakes in your wheelchair. It’s good that they lock. The Iris uses the lever in the back to unlock the tilt feature. Again, you want the tilt to be locked at almost all times. Also, even with a good balance system, a tilt in space wheelchair is inherently moving an entire person around, and having more control over where you grab is probably a good thing.

2. Pediatric wheelchairs. Children are short, and it’s difficult to push a wheelchair for a long time when they have a low back height (source: no one pushed my old wheelchair without complaining about how low the handles are). Parents push a child’s wheelchair a lot of the time, in the same way that they hold a walking child’s hand a lot of the time, and sometimes carry them. Many pediatric wheelchairs will have stroller handles for their child’s wheelchair, so that they can a) push them without bending forward and b) can steer them more easily while also holding something in their other hand.

I didn’t find any examples of a single bar push handle being used on an adult, dominantly self-propelled wheelchair. So we get low points on “looks like a wheelchair that exists,” category, and mildly low points on “looks like a wheelchair the sitter would use,” but not notably low points all around. It looks like a wheelchair that, at first glance, makes sense. It looks like a wheelchair if you don’t spend 35 minutes googling wheelchair parts. 6/10

MAY yippie!! toontown oc! was playing ttcc w/shard and co, this is the character i ended up making i also got covid around april-march iirc so i was feeling horrid for a while (and the remaining symptoms didnt clear up till like june)

JUNE an oc i got years ago but didnt have the confidence to draw for a while lmao anyways i like her colors and shape, she's fun

AUGUST ring but hes going to jail (again but for real this time) the staxie monthly prompt was barbie mugshots but i . . . i did this with ring and lumos and promptly forgor to do this with cakes and ale like i was planning to lmfao im actually gonna watch the barbie movie tonight, renting it so i can watch it on the big tv (didnt watch in theaters bc expensive (movie tickets are generally 15-25 bucks in my area (compared to the 5-10 in my aunt's area (renting is cheaper per person)), and they changed the chairs to these weird uncomfy pleather recliners that make my skin crawl to "justify the price raise" + i hate sitting for more than an hour i need water, bathroom, stretch, and snack breaks))

SEPTEMBER ganache went over the hedge was very busy w/projects so i did little casual art this was inspired by me comparing the over the hedge version of supermarket by ben folds (upbeat & high energy) vs the one by the clash (melancholy + commercial-induced agony) ever since then i cant stop thinking abt how much the lemon demon guy's voice sounds like the fucking clash guy sdjkhfkjsd also over the hedge was one of my favorite movies as a kid and i watched it at least 10 times before we had to return the dvd to netflix. i also regularly played the flash games on the site until i forgot about it after finding out about miniclip + notdoppler from other kids and decided to use those for flash games instead bc more options lol
