Hi everyone! It's time for another rare and sporadic Tumblr post! I'm just witing a post to let yo know that I'm working on a cute free(!!!) yuri VN for this year's Spooktober Game Jam! Spooktober is a horror-themed jam where participants make a vaguely horror-y/Halloween-y VN in one month. I decided to make a chat/statsim called Shut-in Vampire where you play as a vampire girl with dreams of being an idol, Mayu. You have 2 weeks to earn money to pay your rent so your landlady doesn't kick you out, all while talking to and flirting with cute girls online to try and get a little bit of their blood. This VN is actually pretty simple and it's not too long (it's around 30k~ish but each playthrough is designed to be short and it's not possible to see all the content in one playthrough). Since most of the writing, art, and coding is already done, I'm hoping to release it at the end of next week! I hope you're looking forward to it!

Candy, Costumes, & Canines?!? and Eldritch Idol - Trying out games for the Spooktober Visual Novel Jam

For the past couple of days I've been trying to make a web build in ren'py of my visual novel for the jam but my efforts have proved less than stellar. The sound cues are slightly wrong and as Travel Devil relies on sound effects and music to play a part in the humour and narrative it's looking like a bust for now.

Ah well... At least I know how to do a web build now so that's good.

And it leads nicely into a game I tried recently that's web build worked great.

Candy, Costumes, & Canines?!?

Canines, Costumes & Canines?!? is a visual novel made in ren'py for the Spooktober 23 game jam and it's a cozy Hallowe'en narrative game. It features adorable costumes (seriously the sausage dog costume is delightful) and well designed cartoon style characters.

The story is about a canine costume contest and follows a mystery of how one of the contestants got poisoned. It has a nice twist and good ending.

The game has slight flickering on the character sprites in the browser version but that is far from a deal breaker. It's definitely charming and it's easy to get past that.

Eldritch Idol

I'm really enjoying cute games this year so naturally I had to check out Eldritch Idol.

The presentation here is strong.

Eldritch Idol is another ren'py devloped visual novel with a whopping 28 endings! The GUI and menus are really well designed and just feel so polished.

There's a couple of nice character choices for you as the producer to Kuku the cute, if terrifying, idol.

The story features plenty of reminders that this world is full of unspeakable abominations but Kuku presents it all in a perky and adorable way.

The gameplay follows managing Kuku's stats by doing daily activities to improve her abilities all in the hopes of creating the ultimate idol. There's sweet costumes and romance options too.

Eldritch Idol is a great, well made visual novel with an irrestable charm.

I'm not sure what I'll be playing next as I'm still going to battle with my own entry in the jam to try and get that web browser build done! I have a couple of ideas on how to make though, so fingers crossed!

It's been 2 weeks since I released my free(!) statraiser, Eldritch Idol! Tysm to everybody who's tried it out so far! With 28 different endings and a lot of different scenes, there's a lot of content to be found across various different playthroughs! Some more Lovecraftian statsim progress! The whole game is fully coded and functional, so now I just need to input all of the (many, many, many) expressions for the main heroine, Cthulhu-chan. After that, it should be all wrapped up! Here are some WIP screenshots, featuring a random event and one of the more violent endings. Doesn't Cthulhu look so happy? :D She's completely deranged, and I think that's adorable! ♡

Posting some screenshots from my WIP Spooktober statsim/visual novel, Eldritch Idol. It's a stat sim where you get to train Cthulu, who's taking on the form of a cute high school girl, and turn her into a popular idol! I've made pretty good progress on it, and most of the finnicky code stuff has been taken care of! You can schedule events, raise your stats, and stumble across a whole bunch of goofy endings. I've been having a lot of fun testing it out myself! The GUI is largely finalised and I've written the bulk of the script, so now I just need to code in the sprites + backgrounds... And maybe add a few extra events and endings if I get hit by more fun ideas, hehe ;w;
