The Mildenhall Manor Review

I just finished watching the latest episode of The Amazing Digital Circus created by @gooseworx and Glitch Studios, and this episode was SOOO exquisitely made.

It was funny, I had cryptic moments that added horror elements like many video games I’ve watched, and the deeply touching moment between Pomni and Kinger. I love the fact that Kinger’s backstory with being able to remember things in the darkness all comes from the moment his wife abstracted, he’s honestly my favorite character because of how quirky and random he is, but the darkness being an anchor to him is really the most relatable thing I’ve ever seen.

And even during the “therapy” session with Caine and Zooble, Zooble opening up about hating themselves for how they look and not feeling like they’re in the right body is such a cool gender questioning/trans allegory that sooo many people can relate to. Even Caine’s glitch of realizing the defects in his purpose was chefs kiss!!

This show is soooo reminiscent to the deep emotional depths that I loved about Steven Universe, but on a much more developed and adult manner. It’s really made me so inspired now and a huge fan of Gooseworx, she’s khaotic, creative and an internet-kid.

I cannot wait for the next installment, and for more people to watch this series when it premieres on Netflix (but still support it on YouTube and buy the merch!!)

The Shimmer of Starview Lake

Chapter 1: The long ride

We were headed up to camp in the family sadan, dad had packed us in here like sardines to avoid taking two cars. "It'll all fit, don't worry" he said jamming all our gear in the trunk. Some of it even got stuffed between Jasper and I in the back seat. My sister decided not to come to camp this year, so my parents let me bring a friend. Jasper's my best friend, and honestly I think he's what's going to make this whole trip bearable.

We were headed up to northern New Hampshire, to a camp about two hours away called Starview Acres. A cheap campground my father had found way out in the sticks. I started out the window at the forest covered mountains we passed on our way up. As much as it sucked being in the cramped sadan for this long I can't argue with the view.

"So, uhh... What's this place like?" Jasper asked, looking in the rearview mirror at my mother.

"Oh, I'm not sure. I think Paul would know. Honey?" My mother nudged my father to wake him up.

"Huh, what...?" My father stammered as he rubbed his eyes "Are we there already...?" He grumbled.

"No sweetheart, Jasper was just asking what the camp was like." My mother patted his leg "We still have about fourty-five minutes left before we get there."

"Oh... Well the pictures were beautiful, lots of cabins and campsites. Plenty of forest trails to walk. And the whole camp is right next to a lake too, so I hope you packed your swimsuits!"

My father's never been great at describing things. I was excited to see the lake though, I absolutely loved swimming! Jasper and I geve each other a look. We both were brimming with excitement.
