verse: regular

character: wesley reed | 39 | ex-army, now a firefighter.

plot: wesley has been re-considering going back oversees as a soldier, he’s been feeling empty in his current role, but his return from the first tour wasn’t easy. your muse dug them out of the deep hole filled with drugs, alcohol, and a ton of other bad choices.

possible connection: friend, romantic interest (f only), co-worker etc

The idea of going back to war really started circulating his brain when his old commanding officer called him offering him a spot on their task force back in Afghanistan. It’s been a couple weeks since the call came through and the deadline for when he was meant to give word was coming up quick. He hasn’t muttered a word about it, because he was feeling conflicted about the idea himself. When he returned back on American soil, he went through a really tough time. now maybe wasn’t the best moment, but he suddenly gained the courage. “Hey,” He waited until he had their attention. “I just want you to know, I’ve been thinking about going back..” the look of confusion he saw on the others face made his heart sink. He knew what he was about to say would seem like it’s coming out of left field. “with the unit, sergeant Miller called me and offered me a spot on the task force.” As a nervous tick he started fiddling with his watch.

WELCOME TO THE BLACKOUT

BREAKING NEWS...

With a storm rolling in, flash flood warning flicker across phones. But, that’s not all. With the incoming rain also goes the electricity. For the next 4 days your characters will be completely without power, this means water, electricity, and eventually all electronics..... With the lights being out and the humans being urged to remain indoors, supernaturals flock to the streets, hosting their own block parties and being able to reign free throughout the city without fear of exposure. 

REMINDERS:

This event will start on Friday, September 24th and go until Sunday, October 3rd.

In roleplay time the event will be on September 24th to September 28th.

The tag for the event will be darkestevent3. Everything from pictures, outfits, threads, and etc all need to be under the tag. Starters should have both the starter and event tag.

This event is mandatory.

We ask that you please make event threads priority and everything else second.

While this event does have pairings please feel free to reach out and plot with others and post open starters as well! In fact it is encouraged, please take advantage of this event to meet others.

Muse A and Muse B stuck in an elevator...

During the black out one dropped their keys and now they must help the other find them in pitch black.....

You were washing your clothes and there was one other person in the laundromat until the lights went out.....

Muse A walked outside to find out what was going on when the power went out and got locked out now muse B must help them get back in. 

Muse A was in the middle of making dinner when the lights went out, they’re dying of hunger and on their quest for food they meet Muse B. 

With the power out and nothing else to do Muse A decides to throw or go to a block party where they meet Muse B....

Muse A and Muse B are stuck on the subway/train together.....

Muse A was reading a book and got to the last page when the lights went out. In a panic they start searching for any kind of light, they stumble upon Muse B who has a flashlight.

Muse A was working at a bar/restaurant when the lights went out and Muse B happens to be there.

Muse A was trying to have a happy night at home when the fire alarms in their apartment went off due to another person leaving a candle burning. Now Muse A and Muse B are stuck outside while firefighters work to put out the flames.

With the power being out shops have started giving out perishables, which causes Muse A and Muse B to meet while in line together. 

During the blackout Muse A got their purse/wallet stolen and now doesn’t have enough money to get back home... that was until they met Muse B. 

Muse A decided to go on a blind date only to find Muse B, but before they can even get their drinks ordered the lights go out. 

Muse A was in the middle of washing their hair when the water stopped completely. In a panic they run to find a neighbor who has water or something to help them and find Muse B.

Muse A is trying to start a fire, but cannot get it started to Muse B steps in to help them.

Oyez, oyez! (Yes, I’m going to use this phrase as often as possible.) I know I’m a tiny bit late, but I’ve finally finished arranging the pairs + prompts for December’s mini pairing up event! Basically, how this works is that all the characters who were entered in the google form were paired up (in every pair, one is meant to write the starter, and you’ll see that mentioned in the list) and then given a little prompt! The rules for it are quite simple, really! All you have to do is, if you’re meant to write the starter, to try and have it up before December 18. You can message the person you’re paired up with beforehand to plot a little, but it’s not obligatory! Then, the other person will reply to your starter, and ta-da! New thread started! As far as prompts go, some are more detailed than others, but I recommend playing around with them to try and make them work for you. You can follow them completely, of course, but I don’t want you to feel forced to do that, you know? So, yes!

Thursday’s round at Augusta National for the 2018 Masters Tournament was headlined by Tiger Woods, making his first appearance on the course since 2015. Unfortunately, Woods finished 1-over, so he’ll be looking to improve on that drastically on Friday.

Woods wasn’t the only story of the day. The leader on Thursday was the 2015 champion Jordan Spieth, who was 6-under with a two-stroke lead. Titans Defensive Quarterly Evaluations

DE Austin Johnson- Johnson has three games where he predominantly played end and one where he predominantly played nose tackle. First of all, he’s not playing enough. He’s only played in 30 percent of the teams snaps and that’s just not enough for a key defensive end. His stats are poor, but he is regularly “right there” to make a play while someone else gets a tackle. Since he only played one game at End as a rookie, this is essentially his rookie year there. He gets bulled over by offensive linemen but yet other times he also shows real good fight to him. The “jury is still out” on him as an end. I would predict good things but only give him a C for a grade.

DE/NT DaQuan Jones- He plays 48 percent of the snaps which is too low. Once he became a fine “fill-in” at nose tackle, his stats and snaps should have increased considerably. I think he likes getting moved around. My impression is that he is somewhat stagnant when he is always at end, but there’s a ‘skip to his step’ when he is moving around the defensive line.  When he’s fired up, he’s a pretty solid defensive end. He won’t remind anyone of Reggie White, but he can hold his own just fine. I see him as the best defensive line player four games in. Grade: A.

DT Jurrell Casey- Mister wonderful is having issues this year. On the rare occasion that he doesn’t have 3 or 4 blockers to fend off, he is his typical wonderful self. Offenses are smothering him with unfair numbers. Still trails a play better than any defensive lineman in football. fGrade: B.

Sylvester Williams-  As I’ve said, he gets pushed around at least 80 percent of the time and regularly looks at his feet. He has a surgically repaired ankle and while it’s a total guess on my part, looking down at the ankle so often could mean he has an issue with it. His 21-32 percent snap counts for weeks 1-3 don’t warrant $7 mil per season nor display confidence from the coaching staff. Grade: F.

Wesley Woodyard- Dig out the cliches of the fountain of youth, he has been either very good or excellent each week. Grade: A.

Erik Walden- The defensive linemen listed as an outside linebacker rarely lines up off the line of scrimmage. Did the Titans switch to a 4-3 and not tell anyone? He is good, not bad, not excellent….good. I absolutely never expected him to play 50 percent of the snaps. He sees as much time as some starters.

Kevin Dodd- Still can’t cover, essentially a defensive lineman with his hands in the dirt. As I’ve written often, I don’t see it with him. I think he’s a bust and Mularkey or Jon Robinson need to move on. He was only active for one game. Grade: F.

Jayon Brown- There are good long stretches where all he does is cover the tight end. That limits his effectiveness and I wish they would use him more as a traditional ‘backer. Their usage of Brown in preseason was perfect- do that. He’s only “soso” covering the tight ends. He’s a rookie and he is often there, but not making a play. Brown will develop. There’s much to be hopeful for here. Grade: C.

Avery Williamson- My Man! What happened? He is not holding up as he used to. In every prior year, the Titans had weak nose tackle play making Williamson’s job more difficult than necessary. He still got it done. This year, he is struggling. He often misses tackles and/or holds on until someone else makes a tackle. In the past, he would wrap someone up or lay a hit and the play was over. Grade C.

Derrick Morgan- There have been moments that he is the lone bright spot. He is on his way to having an impressive 2017 season. Grade: A.

Brian Orakpo- The man impacted by Casey switching sides is Orakpo. He’s got his hands full trying to get around the swarm of linemen smothering Casey. He’s still a beast and clearly can still be a top linebacker. His job is just unusually difficult thus far. Grade: B.

Logan Ryan- Outstanding slot corner came over as advertised. He doesn’t play so well outside. He’s a shutdown corner in the slot and that should be enough for the Titans staff to work with. Grade: B.

Adoree Jackson- The Titans staff needs to pull him when he’s whooped. My goodness does he have the talent and athleticism to be a super cornerback. Some Sunday’s he takes his lumps and looks like a glutton for punishment though. I imagine a series on the sideline to get his head back would do wonders for the future star. He has allowed a ton of catches but he is also “right there” step for step with some of the best wide receivers. Grade: C.

Brice McCain- Last year he struggled outside and was good in the slot. This year it’s been the same. Why put him outside if the results are predictable? Just let him be a dime cornerback and Ryan’s backup. Sometimes when he gets subbed in, quarterbacks go right after him. Grade: D.

LeShaun Sims- Still a human blanket. He (and Ryan) have had some bad snaps here n’ there. In totality though, he’s been sharp. Sims playing less than 50 percent of the snaps has been a head-scratching decision by the staff. Grade: B.

Kevin Byard- Still stuck as a free safety, rocks as a strong safety. As I’ve written often, the Titans did not address the lack of an outfielder and didn’t keep (Denzel Johnson) the one outfielder they had this summer.  Free Safety grade: D. Strong Safety grade: A.

DaNorris Searcy- He’s “out of place” as a free safety splitting the field or a free safety playing outfielder. He hasn’t done well and a strong safety shouldn’t have to. Grade: F.

Curtis Riley- I have been impressed with Riley. This is his first extensive taste of NFL action and he gets better each week. I don’t know that he’s fast enough to be their outfielder, but with his effort, he will “die trying” and I applaud that hustle. He is an effective shoulder tackler too; looks like a well-drilled pupil. Grade: B.

Kalan Reed- Curiously absent thus far. Zero games, always inactive.

Brynden Trawick and Daren Bates- I had written that the Titans were “blowing smoke” and they wouldn’t truly play much on defense. Those two combine for two defensive snaps. Without the special teams effectiveness, they don’t appear to be good free agent signings by the Titans. I am hopeful special teams will improve though.

Overall-

The legend that is Dick Lebeau can only use what he has. That’s the first problem. It’s not totally on Lebeau that the defense hasn’t done so well. It’s on Mularkey and Robinson that decided the roster.

(Beating a drum) Antwaun Woods must be activated. MUST. Everything falls into place when he takes the field. Woods is an immovable object of a nose tackle and he has the ability to get into the backfield which few NFL nose tackles truly have. Defenses are always taught to funnel things toward the center. When the Titans do this and Williams has been pushed around, it’s hardly effective. Woods commanded double-teams against starting units all preseason. Austin Johnson would be getting one on one matchups and Casey would only have to beat one or two men. Behind Woods, “my man Avery” could play the middle linebacker role and just swallow up running backs rather than have to take on two blockers while simultaneously tackling the running back. All of these people in their spots with favorable matchups yields more effective pressure so less time for the defense to cover. Woods doesn’t have to be Aaron Donald or Albert Haynesworth during their best seasons. He can be Haynesworth during his younger years where he just held his ground moreso than pressured. That is sufficient. The domino effect Woods has on this defense is tremendous.

With difficult times at nose tackle the Titans have resorted to having four men on the line of scrimmage, often blitzing Woodyard, using Jones, Casey, Klug, and Johnson as an out of position nose tackle. If Woods plays, all of them play their typical roles. Some of them have the toughness to man the nose for a play here and there, but they don’t have the “beef” to handle it every snap. Lebeau is clearly compensating for the loss of Woods.  In prior years, Lebeau will stack five or six players on the line to apply intimidating pressure. This year it appears to be a way to compensate. It’s lost its effectiveness without Woods since those out of position nose tackles are still weak up the middle.

Free up the safety- Denzel Johnson needs to play or last year’s starter, Rashad Johnson, needs to be brought back. Kevin Byard needs to do what he does best. There’s no gain from making a star strong safety into a below average free safety. Start Johnson and let Byard roam; let Byard remind us just how vital great strong safety play is to a Lebeau defense.

Too cute-

Let them all do what they do well, everyone. Sylvester Williams played a few snaps at defensive end this summer. He did fine. He held his ground and allowed Orakpo to get to the quarterback. Let Brown use his speed and some of the times let the Safety cover the tight end. Let Ryan stick on the slot and go into games knowing one wide receiver is shut down. Let Sims continue to blanket wide receivers and develop opposite Adoree. Blitz Woodyard sometimes, not “every down” as it often seems. Let him play linebacker. Stop running this faux 4-3 where Avery is the middle linebacker, run the 3-4 that Lebeau is famous for.

No, no, and no! Stop having Leshaun Sims be the gunner and down on every punt and kick return. Starting corners should not be risked like that. Eric Weems should have one spot manned and there are a plethora of wide receivers and David Fluellen who should be able to man the other spot. Another option would be to treat Brice McCain as the backup and play him there, not Sims.

The Tennessee Titans rank 30th in total defense. They have way more talent than the 30th ranking indicates. There’s a curious exercise that teams do where they play vanilla defense in preseason to not show the other teams too much on tape. Well, what they did in preseason worked well. Start Woods and Johnson and play the preseason defense. Let Lebeau scheme off of that base, not some faux 4-3 with everyone playing different roles than normal. Let the players and coaches do what they do best.

Missing spark plug-

It may seem minimal but its effect has never been. Karl Klug has to play and he has to be at defensive end. When that man makes a play, the entire defense and the crowd are instantly energized. Stop playing him at nose tackle, let him do his thing, and watch the trickle down effect it has on the other players.

Waiver Wired: Top NBA Pickups

This week’s edition of Waiver Wired features pickup recommendations for fantasy leagues of any size or depth. Every player listed is owned in fewer than 50% of Yahoo leagues. The early picks are intended for shallower leagues, but I steadily lower the bucket into the fantasy well, eventually scraping rock bottom for the sake of owners in very competitive and/or deep leagues.

Tony Parker (49%) - He's still under 50% ownership but shouldn't be, as he's averaging 19.2 points on 62.3% shooting, 0.8 threes, 2.2 boards and 6.4 assists in his past five games. As a bonus, the Spurs don't have a back-to-back set until Jan. 23/24.

James Johnson (49%) - Seriously? He's red hot and his versatility ensures consistent minutes for the short-handed Heat, especially with Justise Winslow (shoulder) likely done for the season.

Cody Zeller (43%) - Zeller missed three straight games due to a concussion, but he logged 33 minutes on Saturday, and prior to the injury he was cruising as a late-round value. His appeal is rooted in 59.5% shooting, which ranks fifth in the league behind Dwight Howard, Clint Capela, Rudy Gobert and DeAndre Jordan. His 65.1% free throw rate is well below his career average (73.6%) but otherwise he's been great with 6.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.7 steals, 1.1 blocks and a mere 1.1 turnovers. His 33 minutes on Saturday tied his third-highest total of the season, so the Hornets obviously aren’t limiting after his head injury.

Alex Len (43%) - Tyson Chandler is reportedly being tracked as a trade target for the Blazers, who need help in the frontcourt. Even if he's not dealt, the 34-year-old should see his role decrease in favor of Len as the season progresses. Len has been sporadically useful in recent weeks, but standard-league owners would be targeting his potential in February, March and April.

Brandon Ingram (43%) - Ingram is over-owned at 43%, despite his potential as a post-All-Star breakout candidate. He's getting nearly 30 minutes per game over the past two weeks, but is shooting just 43.2% from the field and 69.2% from the line, without many points (8.3), 3-pointers (0.3), rebounds (4.3) or assists (1.7). Don't even ask about his defensive stats. I like him as a stash in the hopes that things 'click' for him in the next month or two, but wouldn't be playing him at present.

Montrezl Harrell (36%) - This is oddly low for Harrell, who was a hot pickup following his 29-point breakout on Dec. 30. He's cooled off since then, predictably, and logged only 22 minutes on Friday, but there's more than enough upside here to snag him if you need a big man. Nene can't play 25 minutes every night even if Mike D'Antoni wanted him to, and Clint Capela (fibula) won't be reevaluated until late January.

Seth Curry (29%) - His shots are falling, he's been a mid-round value for weeks, and everything about the Mavs' backcourt (aging, injury-prone, recent rumors that Wesley Matthews is available in trades) points to a big rest-of-season role for Curry.

Tony Allen (29%) and Thabo Sefolosha (28%) - Two steals specialists available in the bulk of leagues for nothing more than your worst player. Allen is coming off a six-steal gem, and Thabo gets a boost with Kyle Korver traded away (and nobody coming to ATL in return). They're not particularly versatile, and certainly not flashy, but they usually get the job done in standard leagues.

Terrence Ross (23%) - Ross has averaged a mere 0.4 turnovers per game over the past month, a remarkable stat that makes him considerably more valuable in 9-cat leagues. That said, he's still worth a look anywhere with month-long averages of 11.5 points, 1.7 threes, 2.9 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 0.5 blocks, in addition to tolerable percentages.

J.J. Barea (23%) - He finally returned on Saturday but is still available in many leagues, thanks to the fact that he'd played just two games in nearly two months. I have no faith in his ability to stay healthy, and his ROS outlook is uncertain with the Mavs going nowhere fast, but I can't argue against him as a speculative short-term add.

Jared Sullinger (22%) – I can only advocate Sully in deeper leagues with IR spots. In that scenario, he has just enough proven upside to be worth a look. He's started taking some shots lately, a February return seems plausible, and the Raptors aren't exactly overloaded at the PF spot. Look no further than Pascal Siakam starting the first 34 games, or the recent Lucas Nogueira/Jonas Valanciunas experiment with Patrick Patterson (knee) on the sidelines. That said, Sullinger’s 22% ownership rate can only be attributed to leagues in which he was drafted (or auto-drafted) by owners who promptly drifted away. Free, public leagues are both great for fantasy (by introducing new fans to the glory of managing and micro-managing their own fake NBA squad), and terrible for analysis (by distorting data). My guess in competitive 12-team leagues with IR spots would be about 6% ownership for Sully at this point.

Larry Nance (17%) - Nance isn't likely to return until mid- to late-January due to a bone bruise, so he's on the wire in most leagues. He was a quiet top-100 value in 9-cat leagues prior to the injury, though, thanks to 5.5 boards, 1.2 steals, 0.6 blocks, 58.7% shooting, and just 0.8 turnovers per game. Luke Walton will find ways to keep him on the court once he's healthy, and I'm not dissuaded Thomas Robinson's strong play since Nance went down.

Dwight Powell (16%) - He's quiet most nights and hasn't broken out like we'd hoped, but is still returning steady value. Everything about the Mavs' situation suggests that he'll continue to see his role grow in the coming months.

T.J. McConnell (16%) - Apparently, many owners have been scared off by the prospect of Sergio Rodriguez (who is owned in more leagues) returning to action. McConnell is coming off a 17-assist game and he's been great lately, however, so I'm buying in here. After all, Philly has way more incentive to give minutes to their 24-year-old PG, rather than the 30-year-old Rodriguez.

Tim Hardaway Jr. (14%) - THJ is your guy if you need scoring with heavy 3-pointers. He got a boost with Kyle Korver leaving town, and the Hawks have toyed with him as a ball-handler, but be aware that he offers very little in terms of supporting stats. If he can score with efficiency and a high level of 3-pointers, he’ll earn his keep in most leagues.

Amir Johnson (14%) - The veteran big man always seems to be battling some nagging injury, but he's yet to miss a game all season. He makes the most of his limited FG attempts and shot 56.8% in December, while quietly adding 4.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.3 blocks. You could certainly do worse.

Lucas Nogueira (14%) - It isn't Nogueira's recent start alongside JV that earns him a spot on your roster -- it's the fact that he's been sneakily effective all season long. He's only likely to start in certain matchups, but there are enough backup C minutes for him to maintain his current 4.7 rebounds, 1.8 blocks and 0.9 steals. He's also shooting 64.9% from the field on low-volume attempts, and he'd simply be a must-own player if his minutes spiked from their current 19.7 per game.

Willie Reed (10%) - Yes, Hassan Whiteside is expected to return on Sunday. Nothing about Reed's game suggests that he'll earn any minutes alongside Whiteside, which limits his upside, but in deeper leagues I'm willing to see what happens over the next 2-3 games. At worst, he's a nice handcuff for Whiteside.

Doug McDermott (8%) - McDermott was rusty for a while after returning from his concussion, but he's hot in his past five games with averages of 11.6 points on 52.4% shooting, 1.6 threes, 3.2 boards, 1.4 assists and 0.6 steals in 30 minutes. The minutes have been steady all year and Chicago really needs his perimeter shooting, as they are by far the league's worst team in 3-pointers made (6.3) and 3-point percentage (31.2%). Just don't expect much beyond the points and threes.

Andre Roberson (8%) - The Thunder swingman has been awful lately and he's only worth a look if you're punting FT%, or can otherwise cope with the fact that he's shooting 36.0% at the line this season (seriously, he's a combined 18-of-50). He's also shooting just 43.5% from the field, but beyond those nasty percentages the picture brightens with career-highs in 3-pointers (0.7), rebounds (4.5), assists (1.1), steals (1.2) and blocks (1.0). The defensive stats are the key, of course, and he's a nice fit on plenty of teams.

Jeremy Lamb (5%) - Lamb deserves a nod as a temporary option due to Nicolas Batum's knee injury, which could reportedly cost him 1-2 weeks. He's averaging just 17.0 minutes on the season, however, so it's hard to love his outlook once Batum is back in action.

Dragan Bender (5%) and/or Marquese Chriss (4%) - Neither of these guys have provided lasting value this season, but both have nice potential as key pieces of a rebuilding Suns team that lacks postseason aspirations. If I had to pick one I'd go with Bender, since Chriss has done nothing despite getting more playing time thus far.

Jodie Meeks (3%) - If you're still desperate for help with 3-pointers, steals and FT%, Meeks is there for you. He was very good as a fill-in starter for Evan Fournier but is just a fringe option coming off Orlando's bench -- in 18 games this season he's averaged 8.7 points, 1.5 threes and 1.1 assists, while making 90.3% of his 1.7 FT attempts. Those numbers should be attainable if he hovers in the 22-minute range, which isn't guaranteed. It helps that Frank Vogel has a startling lack of interest in the No. 5 pick from 2015's draft, Mario Hezonja.

Caris LeVert (3%) - LeVert's situation in Brooklyn is the primary reason for this recommendation -- the Nets are likely to eventually give him as many minutes as his repeatedly surgically-repaired left foot can handle. He's played just 249 minutes all season, but on a per-36 basis he's averaging 11.7 points, 2.0 threes, 5.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.7 steals and just 1.2 turnovers. Even 25 minutes per game should be enough for intriguing fantasy returns.

Justin Hamilton (2%) - The Nets have no real reason to keep Brook Lopez beyond this season. He's an anachronism as a veteran pseudo-star on a team with a league-worst 8-27 record, and it's already been rumored that Brooklyn wants two future first-round picks for him. If he's traded for draft picks and whatever salary-cap flotsam another team throws in to make the deal work, Hamilton instantly becomes a viable fantasy center.

Jerian Grant (2%) - Grant leaped onto the fantasy radar once Rajon Rondo fell out of the rotation, and he's at least worth monitoring. In Chicago's past two games he's played 27 and 20 minutes, including a nine-point, six-assist, four-steal performance vs. Charlotte on Monday (he added three rebounds and a 3-pointer). Michael Carter-Williams isn't a lock to stay healthy, which adds to Grant's deep-league appeal.

Glenn Robinson (1%) - It seems clear that GR3 should have higher ownership than a lot of guys I've already discussed. He appears to have locked down a starting job and in the Pacers' past six games he's averaging 7.0 points, 0.8 threes, 5.5 boards, 1.3 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.5 blocks, while making 48.3% FGs and 81.8% FTs. As with most of the guys on this list, he's better in 9-cat formats -- that's inevitable when discussing low-end players who don't get as many touches or minutes.

Zero Percent Club! There are plenty of players whose ownership statistically rounds down to 0%. It's not an auspicious group, clearly, but there are some guys worth mentioning. Phoenix C Alan Williams had a brief, glorious moment in the sun earlier this season, but he's been a DNP-CD staple for weeks. He's not suited to PF in the best of situations, let alone on a roster that includes Chriss and Bender, so the best we can hope for is a backup role if/when Chandler is traded...Salah Mejri and A.J. Hammons both merit deep-league attention. Hammons is a second-round pick Dallas can experiment with in a lost season. Mejri is 30 years old, but they have him under contract for a non-guaranteed $1.0 million salary next year, with a $1.3 million qualifying offer the following season, so there’s some incentive to air him out down the stretch. Andrew Bogut is almost guaranteed to be shut down, if he's not traded, and Dirk Nowitzki is nearly as precarious. The Mavs have been terrible with Dirk at center this season and nobody else on the roster can handle the night-in, night-out rigors of the position: enter Hammons and/or Mejri, potentially...Ron Baker made headlines while playing ahead of Derrick Rose in the fourth quarter on Friday, especially since he helped the Knicks rally to snap a six-game losing streak. The undrafted 23-year-old rookie played just 12 minutes on Saturday and clearly isn't a lock for minutes, let alone fantasy value, but he's on the radar as someone unowned in virtually all leagues...DeAndre' Bembry played 15 minutes on Thursday and could suddenly emerge as a bit player in Atlanta's rotation (he missed Saturday's game due to a death in the family). There's a chance that the Hawks could blow things up with a Paul Millsap or Dwight Howard trade, in which case all bets are off, so keeping an eye on Atlanta's young prospects (including Taurean Prince) is a very good idea...Juan Hernangomez was the overall No. 15 pick to Denver this year. An early first-round pick on a bad team, who has shown upside in very limited minutes, could be an appealing 'no-risk' fantasy option.

Dribs and Drabs: Dorian Finney-Smith is worth watching with the Mavs headed toward nothing in particular, and Justin Anderson even more so...Lance Stephenson, Jarrett Jack and Mario Chalmers could luck into fantasy-relevant positions once they're healthy, but I'm not eager to bet on any of them...Joe Harris has been quite awful lately, admittedly, but he's shown flashes of impressive play this season and is still on the radar. Here’s who’s playing and when at Augusta National.

The 82nd Masters begins Thursday at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia.

This tournament gets eyeballs every year, but this version of the championship is even more anticipated than usual. The reason is not complicated: Tiger Woods is playing for the first time in three years, and he’s among the favorites to win the Green Jacket. A Woods’ victory would be the greatest major win ever, given all he has meant to the sport and how unlikely it appeared even three months ago that he’d ever have a chance to contend here again.

Woods has four Masters wins and 14 major championships to his name. He’s still four behind Jack Nicklaus for the career majors record, but this would be as good a place as any for Woods to put one on the board for the first time since the 2008 U.S. Open at Torrey Pines.

Of course, Woods isn’t the only guy in the field. There are 86 other golfers vying for the jacket, and at least a couple dozen have a serious shot at winning. Here’s how to watch.

A Masters viewing guide for Thursday’s 1st round

Here’s how to follow along throughout the day.

The Masters is here. Golf’s major championship season begins with the first round of play on Thursday at Augusta National Golf Club, the prestigious ground on the Georgia-South Carolina border that will host the tournament for the 82nd year.

Every year, this tournament is a huge deal. Some think it’s the major on the golf calendar, but even if you’re not one of those people, it’s a massive event. Along with the end of March Madness and baseball’s Opening Day, it helps officially ring in springtime in the sports world. It’s extra big this year, because Tiger Woods is playing for the first time since 2015.

Woods is one of four co-favorites entering the tournament, according to Vegas oddsmakers. He’s at 10/1 to win, the same odds given to Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson, and Justin Thomas. A Woods win would be a storybook moment unlike any in recent history.

The Masters remains golf’s hardest major to watch on TV. AGNC has strict limits on how much of the tournament its broadcast partners can carry, which means most of Thursday and Friday’s rounds will only be available via live streams of particular groups and spots on the course.
