Phew! It's finally done... Arright, I put a lot of thought into this animated short and I'm going to explain every detail now, which contain spoilers for Arvale 2 : Ocean of Time. You can play the game for free here!

This animated short takes place roughly 1 year before the events of the game.

The font is orange because the title screen for Arvale 2 is bathed in an orange sunset =]

In the storyboard DeMenchev actually had a torch instead of a lantern, but I changed it to make a refrence to Melonchi Minecarts, where he is depicted with a lantern!

This shot is ominous on purpose. The tree growing over the stone tablet, which later turns out to be an entling, one of the commen monsters in Arvale, is symbolic for The Great Cedar: The main villain of Arvale 2 (next to a certain megalomaniac emperor...) A looming threat, a self proclaimed god watching from above.

The Great Cedar, along with a powerful artifact associated with him, The Cedar Root, is represented again on the stone tablet. Roots growing, covered in moss, taking on the shape of an upside down cedar. He is positioned above the other two Time Gods, as he is above them. More powerful, and responsible for creating them.

The Panther, god of The Past, and The Lunar, god of The Present, are depicted on the stone tablet. There's refrences to powerful artifacts associated with them as well: The Panther Eye and The Lunar Tear, highlighted with a starshape surrounding them. The starshape is not really random as well, in the good ending an image is displayed giving the panther's eye a star shaped glow, and I just... implemented that too =]

A slow and ominous version of the game's boss battle theme is playing in the background, forshadowing them being a major threat and, well, bosses you fight in the game.

DeMenchev not only pulls out his Trusty Sword (an actual item in the game, unbreakable starter weapon) beause it's cool as hell, but also because it's an effective weapon against the entling, which is weak to slashing damage. I even refrence this in the credits! The + signifies an effective weapon.

Speaking of the credits, a slow version of the battle theme is playing, a subtle nod to what happens right after the animated short.

So I got tagged by @starshaping in a tag game to post my phone lock screen, the last song I listened to, and a selfie, and because I'm always late, I'm only just getting round to it now.

The twins having a shapeshifting competition?

Like, trying to most closely match a given shape, or shifting the fastest, or making the most interesting form based on some specified characteristics... I can imagine several kinds of shapeshifter games.

... maybe there's a card game where you draw a couple cards and have to include all of them in your new shape. Like "feathers", "6+ limbs", "polka dots", etc.

So I loved this idea very much! But it was harder to write than I thought. xD;

“Roman.”

“What?! I could’ve walked right out of Cretaceous Park!” a large tyrannosaurus rex roared indignantly, small arms flailing comically. The dinosaur next to him snorted while proudly puffing up his feathers.

“Oh really? I must’ve missed when the paisley tyrannosaurus was on screen then.” Janus tiredly retorted.

He had, regrettably, agreed to read the flashcards for the twins. It was a common activity for the shapeshifters when they had their days off work together. The flashcard games were friendly competition between them, and it let them “stretch their shifting muscles” or whatever. Today they were aiming for likeness to the card topic and while they preferred to have Logan as the judge, Janus was a close second. Because Patton believed everything looked good and Virgil would just give points to whoever he thought looked cool.

Janus didn’t know why they insisted on combining the “dino deck” with the “pattern deck”, then wanting someone to judge them for likeness. As if the dinosaurs walked around in plaids and polka-dots…

Having pulled “Paisley” and “Tyrannosaurus rex”, the naga got to witness the two shapeshifters turn into paisley patterned dinosaurs that looked equally terrifying and hilarious.

Remus had shifted to a scaled one with a gray base and paisleys in various shades of green. Roman also had a gray base but with red paisleys, he had also opted for the more scientifically correct version with a feathered head, neck and tail. That small accuracy was also why he got the point in Janus’ eyes.

“Roman’s is more accurate. Can I sleep now?” He droned as he stretched out over the wooden terrace. He had initially slithered out to the backyard to sun bask, but it didn’t take long for the twins to approach and beg him to read the cards and act as a judge. When they gave him literal puppy eyes, he couldn’t refuse.

“Oi we’re not done yet! I haven’t beaten Ro yet!” Remus protested while attempting to cross his tiny arms, he didn’t succeed.

“This is the last one, promise! It’ll be the tiebreaker.” Roman chuckled lightly. Or it would’ve been a light chuckle but coming from a giant theropod, it was reduced to a low, frightening rumble.

Grumbling the naga placed the cards back in their respective decks and took out two fresh ones.

“Starry, Stegosaurus.”

Both twins’ forms instantly started to reshape with small pops and squelches.

Janus took the moment to rest his head on his arms, closing his eyes, the warm sun making him so sleepy.

Soon he felt something boop his nose. He didn’t need to visually confirm that it was Remus.

“Open the peepers! We’re ready!”

Opening his eyes again, he saw Remus’ mustache retreat, and disappear into his face, knowing Janus never gave him any points if he had his beloved mustache out.

Out on the grass stood two very different stegosauruses.

Remus looked like the standard image of a stegosaur, but the coloration was out of this world. He looked like he had taken a dip in a galaxy, swirls of dark purples and blues and white flecks of stars painted all over him.

Roman had a similar build but instead he came in various shades of gold and yellow, his dermal plates were actually starshaped.

The naga couldn’t really bother anymore and Roman looked more starlike so…

“Roman.” He called again with a large yawn.

Roman honked in victory, having won this round of card games.

“What?!” The other twin protested and swiftly reshaped to his humanoid form and walked up to the naga.

“Roman got a point because he was more scientifically accurate, and now he looks like a cartoon character, and he won?! Where’s your standards?!” He gestured to the still starry stegosaurus, who poked his tongue out; the dinosaur would definitely be smirking if he had lips.

“Don’t be a sore loser.” Janus mumbled.

“But I am! Janny tell me why you have betrayed me like this?” Remus lamented as he dramatically flopped over the naga’s back.

Janus could only grunt, already half-asleep. In the background he could hear the twins bickering back and forth, but it would soon peter out as he fell deeper into sleep.

Whenever Daichi is just stood doing something (and i literally mean anything) around the house. It’s been a long time since they were in any of Finland’s dreams, and right off the bat they’re adventuring together again and searching for treasure)

Hybrid/No Level Fridays: Starmons

So, eventually Digimon started experimenting with stuff outside the usual “Baby through Ultimate” paradigm, and it gave us stuff like Digimon Frontier and Digimon Xros Wars. With the other, normal evolutionary stages covered on Sunday through Thursday, Friday is dedicated to those Digimon who exist, how do we say, outside the norm.

Digimon Xros Wars in particular is notable for introducing us to a concept called “Digi Xros”. While the series would later introduce evolution, the gimmick du jour was Digimon combining, super robot style, with one another instead of them all evolving individually. As such, most of the Digimon introduced in this level are commonly referred to as “No Level” Digimon, because they weren’t assigned a traditional set of evolutionary forms. While a good number of them would later be fit into the typical evolution system in various video games and whatnot, it can be kind of a headache to figure out just where a lot of these guys match up to more traditional Digimon.

But that’s enough context. Our first Digimon for this category is a Digimon represented in our grading system: Starmon!

Starmon(s) - Major Digimon Attacks: Meteor Squall, Wish Upon A Star, Rock’n’Rolling ; (Dub) Meteor Shower

The "Starmons" are composed of a corps of several Pickmon with a Starmon at their heart. The will of the corps is at the discretion of Starmon, the Head of the corps, and the Head's decisions are briskly and unconditionally followed by the Pickmon, keeping them from falling out of line as they maneuver according to Starmon's directions. The complex maneuvers required by the corps techniques "Meteor Squall" and "Wish Upon a Star" are made possible by their strict hierarchical system.

As Starmon has a cheerful, showy personality, it is an extreme optimist. Basically, it never gets depressed, and if it even seems depressed it seems to only be thinking things like, "I may be down, but I look good, don't I?" Because of that, even though it is taken lightly by other Digimon, it certainly doesn't worry about itself at all.

So you may or may not be familiar with the Starmon that was introduced first, who is shown further up, but he’s more or less a Digimon who’s starshaped. This guy does that, and also plays with the idea of a star having something in its orbit; in this case, all the little guitar pick-shaped Digimon that accompany it, the Pickmon(s). Together, they’re known as the “Starmons”, and Starmon is their boss, with the Pickmon being in his “orbit”. It’s a clever idea.

There would be other Digimon in Xros Wars in the same vein as these guys. See, Xros Wars started with the idea of the main characters being “generals”, and each general having an army. This didn’t end up coming into play much in the anime, but little guys like the Pickmon would basically serve as the cute little infantry for the various teams, and were called “Nanomons” (not to be confused with the Perfect-level Digimon ALSO named Nanomon), of course. The Starmons were the only ones to get much play in the anime, though, while their equivalents in the other armies only made scattered appearances.

The reason why Starmon and his buds got more play in the anime was because they actually factored into the whole DigiXros thing. Starmon would combine with the Pickmon and certain other ‘mons, with them all collectively serving as “one” Digimon, to create weapons for the other characters to wield. Here are a few of them:

Did I include the Dorulu Copter just because it’s hilarious? Maybe.

In any case, Starmon(s) wouldn’t be the only instance of them taking an existing name and reusing it. A lot of people like to consider this Starmon the Child/Rookie form of the earlier one, but considering he takes more after one of that guy’s evolutions, SuperStarmon, it makes things flow a teeny bit weirdly. Anyway, my love of Xros Wars has faded a bit, and while there are some clever ideas here with the Starmons, they don’t really do much on their own and basically just exist to attach to the other main characters in XW and get wielded as a weapon. They’re cool, but not very exciting.

Looking back at 2017

Warning: if you don’t like to see me boasting about the poetry I am proud of, please don’t read. I don’t like to boast but as it is the end of 2017 and I HAVE done a great job this whole year with everything that’s happened - I want to boast. Just for this post - ok?

As I sit here with my unfinished Christmas Calendar (which I am very proud of), I’ll try to look at my year, how it has been, and to summarize the things I am happy with, as well as the things I could do differently.  (Yes, I am finishing the Christmas Calendar - still fighting on!)

I have to see everything in a family-perspective. After all, I am a mother of three, the youngest one being a foster-child and in very need of tight routines and safety.

January was our first month here in this house, in my home country. Moving last year, 22nd December 2016, we have now only been here one year. It has been a lot of work stabilizing the family, the foster-child and creating routines. This was the first of those months, and everything was as I remember a complete chaos. Tried to keep my blog active and well, and this month I asked for requests. Looking back at my archive I see some things that I am very pleased with: “My second, third and fourth birth” - after request from @sonador-reveur “Galactic Memories” (no request) “Do not mock the pain you have not endured / The boy with sandals.”  request from @think-of-it And this: “A lucky Star Traveler” - was a very very special poem indeed, in memory of Leonard Nimoy, and I will tell you what was so special about it in a minute.

Some things that I am not so happy with is my Poetry Calendar that I didn’t complete and this kind of irritates me. I also announced that my Poetry Book would be out in 2017 - that has not happened. But I have been writing on it, though. And that thousand-year-old guide is there, @just-4-thought !

February I was very tired of all those requests that I felt I had to do in such a short time while I tried to keep the house in some type of order. I also worked with the sorrow of a broken dream - the reason of why we moved back in the first place. I kind of felt empty and it was so many things that needed to be done.

Of course, I should have been taking better care of myself. I should have realized that I shouldn’t ask for requests and all that. But that’s just how I am. I try to be better now, though.

Some things that I am very pleased with from February is the start of my #Please Hijack-series - which I really love! 

I am also pleased that I made a Chocolate Competition to show off Norway’s wonderful Freia Chocolate - and my dearest @just-4-thought won. (Random generator, I promise). First, another guy won, but he deactivated his blog before I picked him as a winner, so I never got to send it to him. 

Some things I am very proud of that I made in February:

My standout must be The Secret of The Ancient Maze. Pretty proud of that!

At last, I want to mention the audio made by midnite-ride of “Lucky Star Traveler” - that audio came to me on an early morning when I went to work - and the tears just appeared, and I just stood there, crying, feeling that cosmos can indeed - answer back. This is why this poem is so special to me. March I felt I started to wake up: spring, new beginnings, and breath!

I am also delighted with The Ice Queen’s Daughter and the start of that series. It has been developing inside of my mind for almost a year now, and it feels good - I know where it’s going, and I like that. 

I am NOT happy with Dearest Astronaut - it just didn’t come out as I wanted it to. I’m gonna give it a new try, I think.

April I was pretty tired and exhausted. I also started to write on my book(s) in March so it was just too much. 

I am though profoundly proud of A traveler’s tale.

May was also a more quiet month. I am though proud of “The tree dressed in diamonds” and my ability to never give up. I wrote 20 000 words in the draft of the Fantasy-Fiction book. I remember struggling with some problems on here, being afraid of socializing here, although I did socialize, I have a strange way of showing my uncertainty.

June was the month when I finished my draft of the book. Looking back at it now - after test readers and some process - it was not finished at all. But, I was very proud, and it was the very first step to make a story. After I started editing it (after summer vacation because I waited for the replies), I found it to be much much better. And now I am building the world - it is going to be a great book (series) that I want to be proud of for real - like for the rest of my life. 

I do like “The three great human puzzles, merged in Poetry.” I am very proud of that!

July - Oh my! Camping with my family and three kids, such a job, and also trying to get the ends meet by working, I traveled to many parties to be an interpreter, I was so tired and exhausted because of that. 

I did make some great stuff, though. I also had an ask game going on. :)

I am proud of:

“The sublime Goddess” (I LOVE this!)

“Says the lady with the peaceful braids” is not something that I made this month, but in March, I think. I remember the happening so vividly when I read this poem!

My very first YouTube-Poem - The Tree of Life. Of course, I am proud of that!!!

What I could have done better: I remember being quite depressive this month. I wish I believed more in myself. But I am proud nevertheless.

August I cannot remember anything else than being really tired this month. I did get my feedback this month in the book, and it was tough. I started to work on the editing. Still working on that. 

Made the second YouTube Poetry Video Crystal Cave and I love this poem - the way it turns out is really great <3 

The Please Hijack #2 also came out this month. 

In September my husband was at the hospital, and it was a hard time for me to write poetry. The words just stuck, I found it hard to produce anything!

Your own Cosmic Frequency Station

I am not that pleased with the amount of activity on this blog the past months. I know why - because of the writing of the book(s), but I also know it is because  I am too hard on myself, that I need to prioritize (believe me I’m much better now) so this will be better. I also see that I actually love to be active here. I love to do this blog. 

Something that really made me happy was that I got to be with @sarahmariepardy ‘s Blog Spotlight for September 2017. This meant a lot to me, I used this as a reminder of being positive when visiting my husband at the hospital, taking care of the children and generally being too exhausted. 

October stands out to me as an excellent month - I made a Halloween-special! Every other day I published some Halloween Poetry and the other days I reblogged something to make it Halloweenish. I loved that month. To be active every day and to produce poetry. 

I am proud of The Cosmic Clock at Bay, and I love the way it turned out.

I also love “Cosmic Pumpkin Lamps.” 

I love the idea behind  “ Excerpt from “The Study of myth, mythical creatures and how they came to Earth (Not to mention the real myth behind the demystified myths of Earth).” I LOVE to do these!!!

And although there are many poems I would like to mention from this month I do love this: “In Seventh Hour,” made on YouTube. It is something about making poetry in this process while filming and talking and, yes. I love that.

Oh, I have to mention “Don’t try to kill an undead” - haha!  My Love <3 

November - Now you see I start to believe in myself. No, I haven’t made a book yet, or anything like that but something happens inside of me, and I feel like continuing my video path by participating in NaNoWriMo, using this as a tool of continuing the work of my book. This doesn’t go well, job and family and all I have to tend to is just too much, and I have to discontinue the videos. But I did make some! And I got even better with filming and video editing although I am still very shy on camera. 

Proud piece of the month: “An Open Collective Question.”

December - we are back to today! Christmas celebrations are over (thankfully, I am completely exhausted, just imagine three kids opening presents) I have also had my birthday (Thank you for all beautiful wishes!! ^^), and I have worked on my Christmas Calendar - which is - not finished! I also tried to make something on YouTube, but you know, I didn’t learn my lesson, it was way too much. 

But I am very very proud of my Christmas Calendar this year, and it WILL be finished at least at number 24 (now at 15) even though too late. The reason, by the way, is: really really exhausted this month and last month. 

Summary:

This was indeed a long “Year in review 2017″, and if you have read this far, I am honestly grateful for sticking with me this long. My biggest wish for 2018 is finishing my very first Poetry Book and also to work a lot with my Fantasy-Fiction. I also really want to be a lot active here, like really producing and giving you much much much poetry and prose. I feel I’m getting better at the English prose part as well. I want to produce, make my life about poetry (although I have to start study for a new career autumn ‘18) and just ... write.

did you know that bees tend to shit a lot? oh man i laughed so hard when one of those honeymakers landed on olive’s head and did what it needed to do. it was a fun day. the land seemed so much more intense since the water sooked into the dry earth and trees and changed their colors visibly. it smelled like heaven, which contains the smell of wet air and beeswax; for today. we tasted fresh honey and walked a lot, learned new stuff and ate cake. i felt like not eating at all, but i couldn’t think of any excuse since i couldn’t just go ahead and say ‘eyyy, my eating disorder still affects me alot although i am already through the worst, so i am so incredibly sorry but i just cannot eat the cake you put all your effort in’. after all i felt proud, eating, gaining coinfidence doing it and making the people around me happy. i felt good enough to even look forward to the party. when we said goodbye and agreed to meet tomorrow again for dinner (which included hiking beforehands) on a mountain and under a sky full of stars, i asked olive if he was going to go to the party. he denied, because he wanted to use his time alone to just have a few minutes for himself and maybe a call with his girlfriend. i found out that they even had a seperated bar in the basement where the elder ones could party for themselves. my parents were excited. me too. when we arrived ‘home’ there was a mess. many many cool and also fancy or extraordinary people ran around and decorated the rest. i could hear oldfashioned music playing and traveled through times into the past century. i didn’t see any familiar person except tryah who wore a funny hat and glasses that were starshaped. oh my i had to laugh really hard. and that was also when i realized how confident i was compared to the day before. there was nothing to worry about, i had everything under my control; and even if not: i felt like i was able to fix anything. and oh goodness that felt good. i said goodbye to my family and walked into my room, fell on my bed and i was too exhausted for just staying awake. but when i heard the hard beats shaking everything's existence i fell into a rush. i didn't even have swimming clothes (since it was a pool party i probably could’ve needed them), but i chose to wear my denim levis and decided against the white shirt (what if i fell into water. oh gods.) it wasn't that hot anymore and also late but i wanted to wear a shirt and eventually i took the yellow one which had 'fresh anti youth' written on it. then i ran back to my family's room in which i found a gaming olive and showered. when i came back outside olive was gone. i turned the lights off and walked outside, while turning around and closing the door only wearing a towel snugged around my waiste. i wasn't expecting anyone out here right now since basically everyone was out partying but when someone shouted my name i immediately screamed and ran into the door nose forwards. ,,Ow!'', i shouted back. dammit that hurted. holding my nose i turned to the person i expected olive to be. i started swearing in my language and stopped when i realized that this was sara. oh man i had been sure it was a male voice, but it was clearly sara's high pitched language. i started screaming again and bummed against the door with my back. again. she started screaming as well, giving me a very confused look. when we stopped, we started laughing. ,,the heck?’‘, she asked under her breath. ,,sorry’‘, i responded out of context. she wove aside. when we calmed down our breaths both of us suddenly realized that i was barely wearing anything. my face turned as red as the strawberries i ate earlier that day. she looked down the hallway, eyes widened. ,,oh my...’‘ ,,ummmm, did you intend to talk about something or did you just want to scare me?’‘, i broke down the embarrassing silence. ,,haaha’‘, she laughed, ,,let’s get you some clothes first and then talk.’‘ i nodded. after a few seconds went by she went on. ,,ty, you need to move for that.’‘ ,,ooh, i’m sorry. was lost in my thoughts.’‘ i started walking, she followed and mumbled something about being interested what kind of thoughts. after i got dressed in the said pants and the shirt, i sat on the bed. the open window let the fresh air in. the sun was about to sink down behind the end of the world in maybe two or three hours and sara shivered when the lively song changed to a slow love jam. she didn’t want to sit down and just stood in the middle of the room, awkwardly. she started biting her red lips. ,,i actually wanted to apologise for earlier. nojus was really angry, like, i’ve never seen him so serious before. he’s not the type to take anything personal and, i have to add this, i don’t usually do this. you just seemed really cute and kinda lost, so i thought, hey, maybe we could have a drink and talk or something. it’s not like one has many different friends here.’‘ she interlaced her fingers and kept her eyes on the ground. honestly i was astonished. that crazy cool person just apologised for nothing and looked so sad. this felt like a joke. like, she thought i was cute and wanted to accompany me. i repeat, me. what was happening?! the stars must’ve mixed somthing up. i must’ve looked really dumbfounded, and again, i forgot to answer, coz she laughed (but it sounded sad) and turned towards the door. ,,it’s okay, i usually do dumb things, i guess i should be used to it right now. see ya.’‘ she was about to close the door behind her when i finally came to my senses. ,,wait!’‘ i ran to her and caught her hand. she seemed surprised and really tired as well. ,,let’s go together to the party. i’d like to have a drink with such a beautiful girl.’‘ i even managed to wink without turning into a tomato, but when she started laughing i couldn’t hold it in any longer. i was such a fail at flirting. and again, 24 hours ago i wouldn’t have dared to do something like this. social anxiety felt like a joke. we interlaced our fingers and jumped through the heartfully decorated hallways like little kids. it was loud but everything gave me the intense feeling of being able to hear a butterfly clapping its wings. ,,you’re lucky, i’m not into guys’‘, was her response when an elderly couple started whispering as soon as they saw us. i laughed like a weirdo. ,,and i know you ain’t into females either.’‘ oooh what?? was that so obvious?? i started sweating in places i didn’t know one could sweat. i needed to vanish. immediately. if she knew everyone knew. oh gods. my life had been wasted. i was about to search the next bridge to jump down. coming out with something i wasn’t a hundred percent sure of just wasn’t an option. ,,ty? it’s alright, i won’t tell anyone and i’m sure no one knows. i wasn’t sure either, just wanted to test you.’‘ she winked at me and i died a thousand other deaths. couldn’t even dare to look at her. ,,come on kid. we have a party to throw’‘, with those words we started walking again (didn’t even realize we had stopped,, dumb me) or rather she pulled me forwards and giggled like a chicken. maybe it was good to start with a base. a love that wouldn’t concrete to entirety and include infinite and unconditional love on a more touchy basis, but something like an honest friend, someone that would take care of my secrets and be like a hideout, a hideout i always needed, because the outside world, this whole society mess thing was just getting too much. i felt like such a love was actually important; whereas i hadn't seen it when it was right there. ,,-tiberius come on, are you asleep?’‘ sara waved her bronzed hand in front of my face and looked really worried. i blinked a few times until i was back in this reality. i could hear the music playing very loudly and the gold light colored the trees and the flowers and all the beautiful scents into a romantic scenery. the people, i believed, must have been behind another huge building which made me think of a gym or something similar to that. ,,sorry, i’m okay.’‘ she didn’t really believe me and i decided to hug her (she felt like a warm soft pillow fyi) when a laughing nojus suddenly appeared right behind her- a guy’s arm around his shoulder. that dude was hella tall and muscular, not my type but probably considered sexy. nojus seemed to be comfortable. when he saw us his huge smile faded into nothing, which cut my heart bleeding and he got angry. someone said fuck, but i wasn’t sure wether it was nojus or sara, coz the whole loud atmosphere made me dizzy and the next thing i can remember is my legs giving up and my heart falling onto someone fragile but strong.
