well duh johto is confirmed, it's called Let's Go Marill and let's go release the same game for the third time (G/S/C, HGSS, VC G/S/C) and make a butt ton of cash with bare minimal effort. And still have a larger post game than XY, SuMo, and SwSh. I'm not bitter at all.

Actually....my uncle twice removed who works at Nintendo said that it’s actually “Let’s go Pikachu 2” and “Let’s go Pichu” with the latter version evolving into Pikablu.

Honestly releasing VC GSC for $10 each is kinda scummy in retrospect considering it’s not the actual updated re-release w/ tons of new features (and those were compatible w/ the 3ds but im not a gamedev so it’s prob more complicated idk). They should of sold it as “one” game (ie. 3 for 1 deal) for like $15-$20. I get Johto has a lot of content in comparison to other Pokemon games but also, it was like 20 years old give or take at VC release. At that point, you can find the rom online or play it in-browser on various websites. But it could have been worse tbh; could have been like $20 a piece. But I’m used to Atlus trying to sell me $60 a piece reskins that have half of the songs locked behind paid DLC (lookin’ at you Dancing in Moonlight and Dancing in Starlight) and milking whatever latest Persona game is on so take that as you will.

I wouldn’t call HGSS the same game or bare effort tho since it’s a weird situation since Gen I and II were incompatible w/ III so anyone not born in early 2000s and before would have never touched Johto. And they actually touched up the region a fair amount (addition of the admins—love ya Proton pls come back—Silver’s character development and Celebi side quest+Spiky Pichu, Rematch Dojo, Battle Frontier and not just a Tower, Crystal content and Eugene, Steven and Cynthia cameos and Arceus quest, Pal Park instead of making me have 2 DS to transfer or paid subscription, enviromental lore additions (ex. Elm has a house now), following Pokemon, etc.). It’s also coming in with new spritework for the Pokemon, recreating areas, etc. since they can’t just plop in the old “models.”

It’s one of those remakes where I think enough has been done to where it’s still lovely for returning players but updated for QOL for modern players and w/ easter eggs and new content.

I think post-game in modern Pokemon is pretty much online now tbh. There’s not much single player stuff unless you’re a shiny hunter or pokedex hunting. I like both, but I miss story stuff and in-game content.

EDIT: I wouldn’t call the games all “no effort” (since gamemaking is hard) but it’s pretty lackluster when it comes to content. Especially USUM since it’s the one w/ near-minimal changes but a $40-$80 price tag new.
