“I am SO glad you decided to join me today!” With a bounce in his step, Asmodeus leads you down the twisting streets of the Devildom capital, passing by numerous shops all with a variety of fascinating (some fascinatingly morbid) items on full display. “I have so many ideas for this next cosmetics line, and with your help I’m sure it’s going to be one of the best ones I’ve released yet!” 

You’re distracted for a moment by a particularly large skull riddled with jewels in one of the windows (is the red hue a stain from blood?), but a tug on your arm has you falling back into step with the demon. “Of course, I’m happy to help.” Another look around at the narrowing streets, and you can’t help feel a strange chill run up your spine. “Plus, I don’t think I’ve been in this part of town before…” 

“Oh, you probably haven’t.” A nonchalant answer with no further elaboration, and Asmodeus continues to lead you through increasingly dim passages. “Stay close to me, ‘kay?” 

Just where was he taking you? He had said he wanted to go shopping for some ingredients for his various cosmetic experiments, but you were having trouble seeing any such shop around these parts that fit the bill. Instead, you had noticed more and more eyes on you, peering from the shadows. Being with Asmodeus in public usually meant having to deal with his constant gaggle of fans, but this was different – here, you were being watched with suspicion, with malice. 

“Here we are!” 

His voice snaps you out of your thoughts, but you cannot help looking around in confusion. You hadn’t managed to catch the name of the shop before you both walked in, but all around you were various small creatures in an assortment of cages and tanks. Your ears are filled with the sounds of hissing, bubbling, scratching, stuttering shrieks–

“Um, Asmo … what are we doing here?”

“What do you mean?” The demon turns to you with puzzlement clear on his face. “Weren’t you listening? We’re shopping for ingredients for my next makeup line.” 

“You’re shopping for ingredients…here?” You motion to the various enclosures around you. “I know we get some creature parts for potions but…” 

“Oh, darling. Cosmetics and potions are connected in many, many ways.” A knowing grin spreads on his lips, his fingers laced with yours as he pulls you down a particular aisle. “This part of town has all sorts of unique and specialist shops–and the one we’re in right now is my favorite place to find ingredients, or even parts for my jewelry and apparel designs. It hasn’t failed me yet. Also – ahhh!” 

With excitement, Asmodeus drags you to a certain tank with a couple of nearly-translucent creatures, a beautiful hue of lilac tinting their skin. “Nightshade starglazers! Now, we’ll take your blood,” He looks to the corner of the tank, where the skeletal remains of one of the starglazer’s prey remains. “And use your bones. Yes, that’ll be perfect!” 

“...What exactly are you going to use the blood and bones for?” You’re almost afraid to ask, but now you're dreadfully curious. 

“The blood will be used for a blush I’ve been considering, and the bones of this little guy–” Asmodeus taps the tank with the point of a manicured claw. “Should be an excellent consistency for a new eyeshadow primer.”

You stare at him in amazement, processing all that he was saying. It really shouldn’t be such a surprise, considering the oddities and horrors so common in the Devildom.

Suddenly, you remember something, and you find the tips of your fingers hovering over your lips. Before leaving the house, Asmodeus had given you a kiss – because he “wanted to see how this new lipstick would look on you”, sly devil that he is. You had accepted it, but had nearly forgotten that it was there.

“...Does this lipstick also have something from one of these creatures?” 

“Hm? Oh, that one? Hah!” Asmodeus laughed, though there was a dangerous edge present in his voice that you had become familiar with in the time you had known him. “No, no … that lipstick, my dear, contains the blood of one bothersome and useless demon once known as Plirok. He really pissed me off one day, so I figured I’d make him useful instead.” 

He leans in close, his hellfire eyes glowing bright as a smirk curls his lip. Holding your chin, his thumb brushes over your stained lips slowly, his gaze following before meeting your eyes once more. “And he did become quite useful – I’d say we’ve found your shade.”
