#KennethWalker, the boyfriend of #BreonnaTaylor who allegedly opened fire at the officers who shot and killed her, announced Tuesday he's suing the city of Louisville, its police and others, for immunity against his actions that night under Kentucky's "stand your ground" law, reports ABC News. Walker, 27, a licensed gun owner, was initially charged with attempted murder and assault following the March 13 incident, but those charges were dropped. Kentucky's attorney general and the FBI are still investigating Taylor's shooting, and Walker said the suit would prevent officials from re-arresting and charging him for any crime related to the incident. The couple was asleep when the officers tried to break down the door to execute a no knock search warrant, which prompted Walker, a USPS worker, to get his licensed gun and fire at the door, according to the lawsuit. #LouisvilleMetroPolice then returned fire, killing Taylor, 26, an EMT, in her sleep and no drugs were found in the residence, police said. An officer was struck in the leg during the incident, according to authorities. Walker was immediately arrested after the shooting and released into home confinement less than two weeks later due to COVID concerns in the jail. In May, Jefferson County Commonwealth's Attorney Tom Wine announced the charges against Walker were dropped as the FBI and state attorney general investigated the shooting. Walker's attorney, Steve Romines, said his client has never been in trouble with the law before and had a legal right to own the gun. The suit contends the state's "stand your ground" law "protects all Kentuckians who seek to protect themselves or loved ones in self-defense." #unheardvoicesmag #standyourgroundlaw #standyourground https://www.instagram.com/p/CEneG-gle_P/?igshid=1gh2vasgcrl0w

Who was James Rayl ( Daughter’s ex-boyfriend shoot by Ohio man ) Wiki, Bio, Age, Crime, Arrest, Incident Details, Investigations and More Facts
Tumblr media
James Rayl Biography                          James Rayl Wiki
The terrifying video from the ring camera shows the moment an Ohio landlord shot and killed his daughter's ex-boyfriend as he tried to break into the family home.
The deadly shooting took place in Sydney, Ohio on July 31 and resulted in the death of 22-year-old James Rayl. The newly released doorbell video, obtained from WHIO-TV 7, shows Rayl trying to open the door after his family told him to leave. Defiantly, Rayl then appears to be trying to force open the wooden front door by slamming his shoulder against it.
Suspect Identity
At one point, he overhears his ex-girlfriend's father, Mitch Duckro, warning Rayl that he is armed. Eventually, the door is forced open and three gunshots are heard, forcing Rayl to flee, as seen in the clip. Descending the porch steps, the 22-year-old walks a short distance before collapsing in the middle of a sunny path. I'm so upset that Mitch Duckro got away with MURDER in Ohio court, that I might be for gun control now. Mitch Duckro should not be allowed to own a gun. Video shows Ohio man shoot daughter's ex-boyfriend during break-in https://t.co/lBNEoKu5vu via @nypost — Cartooness! Domestic Terrorist a la Mode! (@CartoonessToo) August 30, 2022 He was pronounced dead on impact by first responders. An autopsy later revealed that Rayl suffered two gunshot wounds to the shoulder and a fatal back wound, according to a joint press release from the district attorney and local sheriff, quoted by the Sidney Daily News. In an audio recording of the incident made available on WHIO-TV 7, a woman, who described the intruder as her ex-boyfriend, can be heard telling her father that Rayl is trying to break down the door . "Dad, are you trying to kill me?" the woman heard herself say. After Duckro shoots Rayl, his daughter is heard saying, "Dad, you couldn't have done anything. You saved my life," the broadcaster said. Earlier this month, a Shelby County grand jury voted 8 to 1 against indicting Duckro on Rayl's murder charge, citing the state's "Stand Your Ground" law, which states that a homeowner is not legally required to remove himself from his home before firing a gun. Rayl's family reacted with outrage to the news that Duckro will not be held responsible for the shooting and opened a Facebook page demanding justice. "Mitch shot him in the back and killed him," Rayl's sister, Jessica Colbert, wrote in a recent post. "I hope your days are more miserable than ever. You and your daughter are a disgusting excuse for a human being. Read the full article

When You Meet A #MotheroftheMovement and Founder of @thetrayvonmartinfoundation Sybrina Fulton at a #BackToSchool Event TWO YEARS AGO in #MiamiGardens and She IMMEDIATELY Puts You At Ease When She Helps You Take The Perfect Selfie! I was SO emotional and had SO MUCH I wanted to say but I saw how swamped she was getting with admirers/supporters so I just asked for a selfie. But here was what I WANTED to say that day . . . I am a Secondary Education Language Arts teacher in @miamischools here in #MiamiGardens. My 💔s for your son and your family because I saw my younger brother/cousin/nephew/student in his eyes. My 💔s again when I saw how slow our local media was in covering his story AND how school administrators NEVER addressed the #schoolsafety concern that our black and brown communities legitimately had. I started a Community News and Pop Culture media website because of this gap in media coverage so that we could take ownership of the narrative in the way we already were with #BlackTwitter #BlackLivesMatter and here in FL @dreamdefenders. Please know I will NEVER give up on getting #standyourgroundlaw REPEALED because it is murdering our children. I love you and I want to help your foundation in ANY WAY I can!

“Stand Your Ground” Gun Law Makes No Sense; We Look Like Fools…
[Source Wall Street Journal – New York Times]
The Wall Street Journal studied “justifiable homicides” nationwide from 2000 to 2010. It reported that these killings increased 85 percent in states with Florida-style laws (some states’ versions of the law were more limited), while overall killings, adjusted for population growth, declined during this period.
These laws encourage a “shoot first and ask questions later” mentality, which may help explain why, in supposedly justifiable killings, the victim, is more likely to be black when the shooter is white.
IT’S been 10 years since Florida enacted a beefed-up Stand Your Ground law. Since 2005, roughly half the states have passed this law, or one like it. The National Rifle Association led the charge, arguing that Stand Your Ground laws would improve public safety and protect honest citizens. Similar laws have existed elsewhere for over a century, but Florida’s law substantially altered the legal equation.
Under the new breed of laws, a person who has harmed or killed another in a public place can presumptively claim self-defense. The police must accept the claim’s validity. In other words, the individual need only assert the belief that the use of force was necessary to prevent serious harm or death. Coupled with that is special legal protection that makes the person (as the Florida law says) “immune from criminal prosecution and civil action.” Prosecution is still possible, but it is much more difficult.
A result, according to the Association of Prosecuting Attorneys, is hamstrung investigations and legal protections greater than those afforded to police officers. Not only have these laws failed to increase public safety, they have also turned the clock back to the mythologized mayhem of the Wild West.
The Tampa Bay Times examined the effects of Florida’s 2005 law in more than 200 cases (about half of them fatal) through mid-2012. It reported that the law’s chief beneficiaries were “those with records of crime and violence.” Nearly 60 percent of those making self-defense claims when a person was killed had been arrested at least once before; a third of those had been accused of violent crimes in the past; over a third had illegally carried guns in the past or had threatened others with them.
Stand Your Ground claims succeeded 67 percent of the time, but in 79 percent of the cases, the assailant could have retreated to avoid the confrontation. In 68 percent, the person killed was unarmed.

http://www.change.org/petitions/change-for-trayvon-stand-your-ground-laws-must-be-reviewed
Stand Your Ground Laws basically give people these rights: 1) avoid arrest for a period of time according to stipulations within this law, 2) have the right to NOT retreat before using "deadly force", 3) use this law to excuse a murder, 4) escape punishment. A little more than 20 states use SYG law or some form of it. Please sign this petition to have this flawed law reviewed. Thanks... PASS THIS LINK ON!
