Koko Head Steps 👣 1,048 steps nickednamed #StairsofDoom 1.8 miles roundtrip with 1,100 ft elevation gain. We opted for a sunrise hike and despite there being a bit of haze, the views were beautiful. The step-like walking track are the ties of an abandoned railway that runs along the crater's west side. The ties were for an incline tram used by the military during World War II, to transport personnel and supplies to a lookout post on the summit. . Pro Tip: There is no shade on this hike.
