Ich möchte die erste Woche des neuen Jahres damit abschließen, euch noch Staffel 17 und 18 ans Herz zu legen, wenn ihr Zeit dafür habt. Nicht nur ich scheine Staffel 17 als verdammt gut einzuschätzen.

Ein paar Gründe dafür:

Tommy Kluge existiert noch eine Staffel und fünf Folgen lang. Tommy ist das Pikachu von Schloss Einstein Erfurt, ein wahres Icon. In der 17. Staffel hat er eine Story mit seinem besten Freund Tobias, der eine Freundin hat und Tommy deswegen vernachlässigt. Bei Tommy entsteht platonische (?) Eifersucht und in Folge 807 geht das Gerücht um, er sei insgeheim schwul. (Das hätte Queer SE so weit gebracht.)

Diejenigen, die Staffel 24 meh fanden, sehen sie nach Staffel 17 und 18 mit anderen Augen (sie bleibt wahrscheinlich medioker). Die ganzen Leute, die später zu Einsteins Erben werden, haben hier ihren Zenit, darunter Pia "Pippi" Pigalke, ihre beste Freundin Constanze, deren Bruder Dominik, David (Pippis späterer Ehemann) etc.

Zum Schluss noch Pippi, David und Hubertus: Es gibt ja diese wiederkehrenden Charaktermuster. Okay: Pippi ist Physikgenie, hat in einer früheren Staffel einen Roboter gebaut und geht, wie wir später wissen, in Richtung Informatik. Sie ist ziemlich nett, außer zu Hubertus, der sie anonym gemobbt hat, und am Anfang zu David, weil sie nicht weiß, was er von ihr will. David ist am Anfang ein Außenseiter, der lieber sein eigenes Ding macht. Er stellt sich aber als guter Autor heraus und schreibt für Pippi eine schlecht codierte Werwolfgeschichte. So richtig 🔥bringt Hubertus ins Spiel, Davids Zimmernachbar. Die beiden streiten sich von Anfang an. Sie haben aber auch sehr persönliche Interaktionen, unter anderem deshalb, weil sie Ex- und zukünftiger Freund von Pippi sind. Ich hab die beiden mächtig geshippt.

Frau Rottbach, die damalige Internatsleiterin. Für mich kommt Frau Schiller nicht an Frau Rottbach ran, sorry.

Und ja, ich hab die Hoffnung, dass am Ende ein paar Fanfics aus der Ära rausspringen.

Infos aus dem Kika-Chat

Es ist wieder Zeit für "Wie alt bist du?"

Jonathan (Malik) ist 16 (er hat am 24.02.2009 Geburtstag) und geht in die 10. Klasse eines Gymnasiums, Gregor Georg ist 17 und geht in die 12. Klasse.

Jonathan zockt in Wirklichkeit nicht so viel. Seine Hobbys sind Leichtathletik, Lesen und Schreiben.

Und schon wieder werden Fragen zum Beziehungsstatus zugelassen...

Jonathan ist seit der fünften Klasse in der Theater-AG, hat aber sonst noch nicht geschauspielert, Georg ist in der achten Klasse dem Jugendtheater beigetreten.

Jonathan mag Kiba inzwischen nicht mehr, weil er es zu oft getrunken hat.

Jonathan gefällt seine Rolle, aber er hat fast keine Gemeinsamkeiten mit ihr.

Jonathan wohnt in Ulm, kommt aber ursprünglich aus Bad Grönenbach in Bayern. Seine Mutter kommt aus Tansania, sein Vater aus Deutschland.

Jonathan hat vier Brüder.

Georg ist durch einen Gedichtsvortrag in der 8. Klasse auf die Idee gekommen, zu schauspielern.

Das schlimmste an den Dreharbeiten (laut Georg) war, wenn sie ewig überzogen haben.

Jonathans Lieblingscharakter ist Chiara, Georgs auch.

Georgs Hobbys sind Brettspiele und Programmieren

Georg möchte Schauspieler oder Szenenbildner werden

Wenn Georg nicht Joshua spielen würde, würde er gerne Marlon spielen.

Jonathan hat sich bei Schloss Einstein beworben, weil er Schauspieler werden möchte.

Jonathan würde Maliks Klamotten eher nicht privat anziehen. Georg dagegen findet Joshuas Kleidungsstil cool.

Georgs Lieblingsserie ist DuckTales (2017) und sein Lieblingsfilm ist Baymax.

Georgs Lieblingstiere sind Axolotls und Katzen.

Zu der Frage, ob auch in dieser Staffel zwei Jungs zusammenkommen werden "Das können wir jetzt natürlich noch nicht verraten. ;-)" IHR HABTS GEHÖRT LEUTE ES GIBT NOCH HOFFNUNG FÜR LIMON!

Jonathans Lieblingsstaffel sind Staffel 23 und Staffel 26

Georg mag One Piece und My Hero Academia, ist aber eher ein Manga-Mensch.

Man darf bis zu einem gewissen Grad selbst entscheiden, wie lange man bei Schloss Einstein mitspielt.

Jonathan wäre nicht gerne mit Malik befreundet. Wir werden im Verlauf der Staffel noch sehen, warum. Georg dagegen wäre gerne mit Joshua befreundet.

Jonathan mag an seiner Rolle, dass er anders ist als vorherige Rollen und spannender zu spielen ist. Auch hier werden wir noch sehen warum. MALIK VILLAIN ARC?

Jonathan versteht sich am Set am Besten mit Marilou (Luna), Georg, Mik (Ava) und Janisa (Tahmina)

Hauser wird nicht die ganze Staffel über eine große Rolle spielen.

Georg würde gerne Mal Spiderman spielen

Jonathan spielt seit 9 Jahren Klavier und seit ein paar Jahren auch Querflöte

Georg hört gerne Nu-Metal, klassische Musik und Sachen aus den 60ern/70ern/80ern/90ern. Seine Lieblingsband sind die Beatles und er spielt Trompete.

Von den Staffeln, in denen er nicht mitspielt, hat Georg nur die 25. Staffel gesehen.

1941 07 17 Condor vs Whitley - Mark Postlethwaite

On the morning of 17 July 1941 FW 200C-3 F8+CL (Wk Nr 0063) of 3/KG40 came across an Allied convoy of the west coast of Ireland. The Condor was soon spotted by an RAF Whitley of 502 Sqn which proceeded to give chase after the German bomber. When within range both aircraft opened fire on each other, one person was killed aboard the Condor but the Whitley was also badly hit in the fuselage and engines. The Condor escaped into cloud and returned to base at Brest, whereas the Whitley was forced to ditch in the Atlantic, the crew being rescued by HMS Westcott.

F8+CL was later transferred to 7/KG40 and recoded F8+BR. It was with this staffel when it suffered a flap malfunction and ditched on the approach to Trondheim on 22 February 1942. The aircraft was recovered in 1999 and is now under restoration in the Deutsches Technikmuseum in Berlin.

1918 05 14 God of the north wind - Russell Smith

depicts Fokker triplane 450/17, one of several flown by Ltn. Josef Jacobs, Staffelführer of Jasta 7. Jacobs was perhaps the biggest proponent of the Fokker triplane, and he flew it operationally longer than any other pilot, including Manfred von Richthofen. Although he is known to have flown at least two, and perhaps three black triplanes while serving with Jasta 7, 450/17 is his best known due to the description given in his wartime diary. Although it is uncertain how frequently Jacobs flew 450/17,in his wartime diary he definitively attached that aircraft to one event - a balloon claim for May 14,1918. His combat report for that day reads as follows:Fok. Dr I 450/17: black triplane with a devil's head on both sides of the fuselage behind the pilot's seat. At 0410 hours I started with my Staffel for a patrol to the front - because there was little aerial activity, and I noticed some English balloons through the clouds, I decided for a balloon attack. With my whole Staffel I raced down through the clouds, immediately opening fire at the first which ignited at once, burning fiercely.

Wichtig: Es geht nicht darum, welche Staffel euch besser gefällt oder wo ihr die Charaktere am liebsten mögt, sondern wirklich rein um das Intro. Die jeweiligen Intros sind unterhalb der Abstimmung verlinkt :)

Schloss Einstein Rewatch Folge 86 - 88

Als die Dorfkids das Plakat für ihre Tierpension in der Eisdiele basteln, ist mir irgendwie ein trauriger Gedanke gekommen. Klar, einerseits ist die Eisdiele allein ein iconic Vibe und die Produktion wollte wahrscheinlich einfach so eine kleine Szene nicht in einem neuen Zuhause-Schauplatz drehen, aber so eine Bastelarbeit inklusive Schnippeln und Kleben würde man doch in der Realität eher bei jemand Zuhause machen, als die ganzen Materialien erstmal in die Eisdiele zu schaffen. Geht's denen allen Zuhause so schlecht, dass sie alle so wenig Zeit wie möglich in ihren Elternhäusern verbringen wollen oder darf niemand von denen Freund:innen nach Hause einladen? 🥺

Aber sie bieten ihren Tierpension-Service laut Plakat nur Montag bis Freitag von 16 bis 17 Uhr an. Das ist irgendwie so süß naiv, so bringt das ja Leuten, die länger verreisen, überhaupt gar nichts 😂

Giovanni in allen Ehren, aber sein Kommentar, dass es für eine Fitnessstudio-Atmosphäre auch "schöne Frauen, die zugucken" braucht, geht gar nicht. Herrgott nochmal, wenn ich im Fitnessstudio bin, möchte ich dort Sport machen und nicht Typen angaffen (bzw. angegafft werden) 🤮

Wie schön Iris im Theater aufgeht 😍 oh ich wünsche ihr so sehr, dass sie vielleicht nach ihrer Schulzeit im Unitheater oder so ein supportive Umfeld findet, finde sie würde da auch sehr gut reinpassen! Und Alexandra spricht endlich ein Machtwort im Streit um die Lagerhalle (und hat eine neue Frisur - I like! Aber interessant, dass die Darsteller:innen damals anscheinend noch während der Staffel ihr Äußeres verändern durften) und das Fitnesskino ist geboren. (Aber rein realistisch gesehen mal wieder etwas weird, dass sie so viele Sportgeräte auftreiben könnten) Und ich möchte endlich wissen, was bei ihr und Atze eigentlich der aktuelle Stand ist! Und das ist schon wieder so süß, wie die Guppy, Wolfert, Pasulke und Nadja bei der Eröffnung dabei sind!

Special mention für Wolfs Spruch "wenn das nicht reicht, um die Stromrechnung zu bezahlen, dann will ich den Rest meines Lebens Schaf heißen" 😂 (zugegeben ich hab den erst mit ein paar Sekunden Verzögerung gecheckt, aber irgendwie soll das glaub ich auch so sein und das macht die Szene einfach noch besser?!)

Probleme mit Erwachsenen bzw. Eltern werden auf Schloss Einstein auch überdurchschnittlich häufig mit Weglaufen/ bzw. jemand im Internat verstecken gelöst. Als Herr Schwehrs sagt, dass er Philip liebt, aber keine Experimente machen möchte, zeigt das in dem kleinen Satz eigentlich total schön, in welchem Struggle Eltern sicher total oft stecken und dass es bestimmt oft super schwer ist zu wissen, was denn jetzt das beste für das eigene Kind ist - und man bekommt in der Serie ja sonst vor allem Philips bzw. die Internats/Lehrerperspektive mit, aber solche Entscheidungen sind eben oft nicht so leicht zu treffen... Und dann gibt er sich ja doch noch einen Ruck und stimmt den Tests zu! Was ich jedoch nicht so gut gelöst finde, ist, dass irgendwie nicht wirklich richtig eingeordnet wurden, warum Philipp zuerst überhaupt auf einer Förderschule gewesen ist und jetzt aufs Einstein wechseln kann - er ist hochbegabt in Mathematik und *ja da müssen Gutachten gemacht werden* ist mir zu wenig. Bei Philipp wird Autismus ja schon sehr deutlich im Subtext impliziert, da hätte man eigentlich durch mehr Erklärungen super schön Awareness schaffen können

Nadines Kommentar zu Gedichten: "Manches muss man zwar zwei Mal lesen, um es zu verstehen, aber dann klingt es wie ein Songtext von Pur" 😂

Und es tut mir richtig weh zu sehen, wie sich Nadine und Oliver so langsam auseinander leben (eigentlich ein viel zu dramatisches Wort für 13-14 jährige 😅)! In ihrem Alter eigentlich auch ganz normal, dass Beziehungen nicht ewig halten, aber ich hätte gerne, dass die beiden sich zusammensetzten und miteinander (anstatt mit anderen) über ihre Bedürfnisse reden und wieder süß zusammen sind 🥺 aber andererseits, wenn man wirklich nicht mehr glücklich in einer Beziehung ist, ist es natürlich besser sich zu trennen.

Och man Oliver, jetzt fang doch nicht solche Eifersuchtsspielchen an! Und erst Recht nicht mit Iris, die euch einfach nur helfen wollte und noch dazu Nadines beste Freundin ist 😡

Dann läuft bei dem einen (Fast-Trennungs-) Gespräch von Nadine und Oliver auch noch "Du trägst keine Liebe in dir" im Hintergrund - man hört es nur leise, aber es ist so ein passendes Detail, ich liebs sowas zu entdecken!

Und ich liebe Iris schon wieder. Sie wird da total in die Beziehungsprobleme von Nadine und Oliver reingezogen, Nadine ist dann sauer auf sie und Iris kann Nadine trotzdem (zwar im Streit aber deutlich) sagen, dass sie sich Oliver gegenüber gerade nicht fair verhält. Und irgendwie finde ich das so weird, dass Oliver dann anscheinend in Iris verliebt ist? Junge, deine erste echte Beziehung ist gerade zerbrochen und du willst sofort was von ihrer besten Freundin, dein Ernst? Iris einerseits Queen, dass sie Oliver auch wieder klar sagt, dass sie nicht die Lückenbüßerin sein möchte - aber was haben haben die Autor:innen schon wieder mit dieser total Out of Character Ohrfeige? 😫 Und andererseits fühle ich so mit Iris, dass ihr Selbstwert so gering ist, dass es für sie außer Frage steht, dass so ein "Traumprinz" wie Oliver sich überhaupt für sie interessieren könnte und gleichzeitig passt das auch zum aroace!Iris Headcanon, dass sie Olivers Andeutungen gar nicht versteht. Weiß nicht, diese Plotline hätte man von mir aus gerne weglassen können...

(In meinem AU treffen sich Nadine und Oliver dann einfach nach ihrer Einstein-Zeit auf einem Klassentreffen oder so wieder und finden wieder zusammen 🥲)

Medienkritik mit Laura Mahrwege hat mir gefallen. Irgendwie cool, dass die Mechanismen von reißerischer Berichterstattung so in der Serie vermittelt wurden. Mich hat nur gewundert, dass "Riskant" eigentlich eine naheliegende Anspielung auf Brisant wäre, aber gleichzeitig so deutlich negativ dargestellt wird. (Und "wir wollen doch diesen Beitrag nicht 2010 ausstrahlen" - äh ja, ich fühle mich dann wieder mal alt 🌚).

Louisa und ihre "Lärmsucht" war auch eine ganz nette Nebenbei-Geschichte. Wirkte zwar irgendwie mal wieder sehr konstruiert, aber die Szene als Alexandra, Marc und Budhi Louisa in der Schülerbar mit ihrem lautlosen Sprechen verarschen, fand ich sehr witzig.

Freddie Mercury used to say there was no question in his mind that Queen would be a success

I was sitting in my office one day in 1971 when I got a call from my brother Barry down in the studio.

‘Norman, come down and have a listen to something,’ he said.

John Anthony, Trident’s A&R man, had discovered a band called Smile.

At the start, the lead guitarist was an astrophysics student from Imperial College called Brian May, the bassist and singer was an art student called Tim Staffell, and the drummer was a biology student called Roger Taylor.

It turned out that they’d now reshaped the band.

Staffell had been replaced by this little Indian-looking guy with a big, operatic voice and they had a new bass player.

John had asked for their demo. It was raw but there was definitely something there. I’d opened Trident Studios in 1968 in Soho.

Its cutting-edge facilities and happening vibe were attracting the greatest talents of the era, from The Beatles and Elton John to David Bowie and Marc Bolan.

The four guys who came into my office a couple of weeks later were an intriguing mix of characters.

Roger Taylor was a really good-looking kid, with long blond hair and charm. Brian May was tall with a mane of curls and a little introverted but clearly very intelligent. The bass player, John Deacon, was also quiet. I could tell right away that the fourth member was going to be high maintenance.

His real name was Farokh Bulsara. He was born in Zanzibar and educated in India. The family had immigrated to England when he was a teenager. He’d gone to Ealing Art College to study art and graphic design. He was also a gifted singer and pianist.

When he joined the band, he immediately gave himself a more rock ’n’ roll name: Freddie Mercury.

He was charming, acted a bit shy and reserved at times and spoke in quite a posh, mannered voice. When he relaxed he had a very sharp sense of humour and spoke at a hundred miles an hour.

Queen turned out to be every bit as good - and demanding - as we'd anticipated. Things had to be one hundred per cent right, otherwise they wouldn't be happy

They’d rightly decided to ditch Smile as their name. I nearly choked on my coffee when I heard their new one: Queen. The world wasn’t as enlightened then as it is today.

We were worried that it would be a real turn-off, especially given the band’s look. Freddie apparently had a girlfriend but we were pretty certain he was gay.

But the name wasn’t up for negotiation. I agreed to offer the Queenies, as we christened them, a loose kind of arrangement. There were times when the studio was ‘dark’, usually at 2am. So we said: ‘We’ll give you this downtime in the studio to see what you can do.’

They turned out to be every bit as good – and demanding – as we’d anticipated. Things had to be one hundred per cent right, otherwise they wouldn’t be happy. They’d spend days and nights working on the harmonies.

Arguments would start about the tiniest little detail. They’d start screaming, shouting and chucking things. Sometimes it would blow over in a few minutes, but at other times they would stew on it, not talking to each other for a day or two. They’d always sort it out, however. It wasn’t personal, it was about the work.

Freddie used to say there was no question in his mind that Queen would be a success.

‘There was never a doubt, darling, never,’ he’d say with an imperious wave of his hand.

The title of their first album was simply Queen.

Another suggestion had been Dearie Me, Freddie’s catchphrase, which was quite funny but the band were a hard enough sell as it was.

They spent ages arguing about the album sleeve. The front cover was a single image of Freddie on stage, with two spotlights in the background.

For the back cover the boys put together a collage of snaps of themselves.

Freddie had driven everyone to distraction fretting over whether he looked ‘gorgeous enough’ in them.

By the end of the year they were on the road with Mott the Hoople, but Queen were getting more encores and bigger cheers than the headliners.

They were due to go to Australia for a gig when Brian suddenly developed a really high fever. His arm had swollen up to the size of a football and doctors diagnosed gangrene.

At one point it was touch and go whether he would lose it. Luckily the crisis eased and he was allowed to fly.

However, the gig was a disaster. The local DJ introducing them had clearly taken against them because he introduced them as ‘stuck-up Pommies’. When they got on stage, the crowd turned against them, too.

The boys were mightily relieved when they got on a plane back to London. For some bizarre reason, the British press had been tipped off that Her Majesty the Queen was arriving at Heathrow. So when they saw four knackered musicians emerging through Customs, they weren’t too happy.

On their first tour of America, Brian’s health was deteriorating. Our worst fears were confirmed when doctors announced he had hepatitis.

The rest of the tour had to be cancelled. It was a disaster, professionally and personally. Then, when they came back to London in August, he had to have an emergency operation for an ulcer.

But on October 11, 1974, EMI put out Killer Queen, from their third album, Sheer Heart Attack.

Within weeks it had given the boys the thing they’d most wanted – a No. 1 single.

As Queen hit the road again, this time as a headline act in their own right, it was clear they were on the verge of major success.

But the more adulation Freddie received on stage, the harder he became to work with offstage.

The tour came to an end at the famous Rainbow Theatre in London. The day before the gig, Freddie was being even more pedantic than usual.

‘Oh, stop being such a tart, Freddie,’ Brian said.

Freddie was outraged. He tossed back his head, waved his arms and stormed off in a strop.

When it was time for the soundcheck, Brian turned the mic on.

‘Freddiepoos, where are you?’ he shouted.

Freddie appeared immediately with a face like thunder. He flounced on stage, gave Brian a vicious look and then just got on with it. That’s what they always did.

In 1975 they went to Japan and found 3,000 fans waiting for them, all chanting the band’s name. It was like Beatlemania. Freddie had finally found the acclaim he’d craved all his life. He felt like a god. Unfortunately, he soon started behaving like one, too.

The more successful they became, the more agitated Queen had grown about money. One of the most heated rows came when John got married. In the run-up to the wedding he announced he wanted me to spring £10,000 (about £90,000 in 2013 values) for him to buy a house. I didn’t react too well.

Then Freddie demanded a grand piano. When I turned him down, he  banged his fist on my desk. ‘I have to get a grand piano,’ he said.

I wasn’t being mean. We knew there was a huge amount of money due to come flooding our way from Queen’s success. I explained that some of it was already coming in but the vast majority of it hadn’t arrived yet.

‘But we��re stars. We’re selling millions of records,’ Freddie said.

‘And I’m still living in the same flat I’ve been in for the past three years.’

The amount of money we’d invested in the band was huge.

We’d advanced them equipment and salaries right at the beginning and had continued to pour money into them for four years.

The fact the band owed Trident close to £200,000 (£1.75 million today) didn’t seem to register with Freddie.

I can remember the conversation.

‘The money will come in December,’ I said. ‘So wait.’

Then came a phrase he would make famous around the world in years to come, although no one would have known where it was born.

Freddie stamped his feet and raised his voice: ‘No, I am not prepared to wait any longer. I want it all. I want it now.’

By late 1975 I was hearing that they were making all sorts of derogatory comments about Trident.

Then I heard a track from A Night At The Opera called Death On Two Legs. The opening two lines summed up what was to come.

‘You suck my blood like a leech/you break the law and you breach’, then, ‘Do you feel like suicide?’ it went on, ‘I think that you should’. It was some kind of nasty hate mail from Freddie to me.

Soon Bohemian Rhapsody roared to the top of the UK charts and stayed there for nine weeks. A bittersweet moment, it came as news was beginning to leak that we had split from Queen.

We should have talked more. And I should have been more attentive to their feelings. By the time I realised things were badly wrong, it was too late.

In March 1977 the company settled with the band for the sale of all of its future rights, the rights to the old albums and the settlement of the management debt.

Freddie’s dream finally came true and he became a very wealthy man. When he died, no one was sadder than me. He may have been a monster to deal with, but he was also a genius.

I did see him once, in the years following our fallout, in 1986, when I took the family to their Knebworth concert. He was friendly, as if the rows of the past were forgotten. It turned out to be their last live concert, which meant I was at their first and last.

Years later, after his death, I went to the Freddie Mercury Memorial Concert at Wembley, where I saw the three remaining members being photographed.

John Deacon pointed at me and said: ‘And if it hadn’t been for that man we wouldn’t be here.’

Brian and Roger looked at me and nodded. That gesture went a long way towards exorcising the ghosts of the past.

Letters of Erwin Böhme: Before the war, Erwin Böhme worked as an engineer in East Africa. When the war started he was already 37 years old. This did not stop him and he became a successful fighter pilot, being personally selected by Boelcke to join his fighter squadron. In 1916 he met the daughter of a former business colleague and they fell in love. The following letters are those Böhme wrote to his later fiancée Annamarie during the war days. Emil Schäfer - Part 1

Family Carl Maria Emil Schäfer was born on 17 December 1891. Named after his father, he went by the name Emil. He had two younger sisters. His father was a fabric manufacturer; two things Emil had in common with his flying comrade Werner Voss whose father had the same profession and also was from the city of Krefeld in western Germany. They also went to the same school, not at the same times though as Werner was six years younger.

Military service and Work After his graduation in 1911 Schäfer had to do compulsory military service but was able to join the Einjährigen-Programm, so he only had to do it for one year instead of the standart two years. He chose to serve with the Hannoversches Jäger-Battailon Nr. 10 (Infantry) in Goslar. After that, Schäfer was destined to join his father's company and become a merchant. For that he did internships with some of his father´s business colleagues. He had the opportunity to go to London and then to Paris, making him fluent in English and French. Originally he had planned to stay in France for some years, but the year was 1914 so destiny had other plans for him. His father came to Paris to bring him back to Germany, eventhough the imminent threat of war wasn´t yet taken seriously from neither the Schäfers nor their French colleagues: “We joked about our departure, drank to seeing each other again soon, and separated as the best of friends”.

War time service 1914 - 1915 Schäfer, in the rank of Oberjäger, tried to rejoin his old regiment, but was ordered to Westfälisches Jägerbataillon Nr. 7. His first mission was the occupation of Liège, Belgium after its capture the days before. His task was to secure the train station and the bridges around the city. But Schäfer was eager for a more active role in the war: “Hopefully we'll get to the enemy soon. I don't like the police service anymore”. His wish soon came true, and on September 1st his unit is deployed for the storming of Maubeuge. After several days of shelling the fort, they managed to take it. 52,000 men on the French side were captured by 18,000 German troops. After that they were supposed to march on Paris but another unit needed help and after a march of almost 100 km in two days they managed to prevent an enemy breakthrough of the lines.

On September 26, 1914, the course of the war changed for Emil Schäfer when he was shot in the leg while taking the town of Chivry. He had to spend almost 7 months in hospitals and in rehab before he could walk again. The result of the injury was a shortened left leg, which made it difficult for him to walk long distances. He returned to his unit in April 1915 which was still in the same area where he last left them; the city taken and the soldiers deep in the trenches. There he stayed until the end of 1915. He had started to get bored and was also struggling with his injury; his leg was healed, but he found it difficult to walk and stand for long periods of time.

Pilot In January 1916 Schäfer started his pilot training in Köslin. After successful graduation he was sent to Russia in July to join Staffel 8 of Kampfgeschwader 2. His main task was to attack Russian positions with bombs and machine gun fire. “We start twice or three times a day. Occasionally tethered balloons are charred and Russian planes shot down.”

Emil wrote extensively to his parents, describing a day in the life of a pilot: “At 4:45 in the morning my orderly appears and throws me out of bed, half an hour later I appear in my oldest and dirtiest outfit in the dining car, where the gentlemen from squadron 8 and 9 gradually arrive. Coffee, milk, sugar, bread and occasionally a little butter is delivered. Almost everyone still has a pot of jelly, jam, butter or sausage. This first breakfast is very hearty and plentiful, because if you are unlucky, it must be enough for the whole day. Then we go to the airport. When we arrive, the planes are ready. I walk around my good old machine, checking a turnbuckle here and there, then I get attracted. Schubert helps me into my flight pants, buttons, buckles, zips up the various fasteners, has crash aids, goggles and gloves ready. The squadron leader gathers the six crews around him and issues the order. My observer and I now go back to our plane. The plane is started, we take off. Six minutes after the start we are almost 1000 meters high. We're over the city on time, I'm heading straight for the train station and the bombs are already falling. 600 kilograms of the most powerful explosive ammunition poured over the buildings and facilities. Then we go home. The square is lively now. The fitters take over the machines. The observers gather with the squadron leader and report; the pilots still have work to do on the machines, are talking to the fitters, the foreman, and to each other. When everything is done, it's off to the cars and home to the residential train, where everything is discussed again in detail over the second, also very thorough, breakfast.”

In January 1917 Kampfgeschwader 2 was sent to the Western Front. Schäfer was now part of a Jagdstaffel (fighter squadron), flying single seater fighter planes. His first victory almost cost him his life, having to crash land after shooting down a French flyer. Now that he had a taste for being a real fighter pilot, he turned to a former comrade he met in Russia: Manfred von Richthofen, who had recently taken over the leadership of his own Jadgstaffel. In mid-February, Schäfer got the okay to switch to Jasta 11.

Ich wollte mal anmerken, wie gut die Diversity bei Schloss Einstein mittlerweile ist.

Wir haben ja schon festgestellt, dass sich Noah und Colins Geschichte von anderen queeren Storys dadurch unterscheidet, dass ihre Queerness nicht das Problem ist. ("Ist es weil ich ein Typ bin?" ist das einzige Mal, dass es explizit angesprochen wird). Ihre Story könnte genauso gut mit einem Heteropaar erzählt werden und der einzige Unterschied wäre, dass sie sich kein Zimmer teilen würden.

Aber das ist ja nicht die einzige Repräsentation, die wir haben. Während Schloss Einstein bei der Repräsentation von queeren Menschen und Menschen mit Behinderung immer noch etwas hinterherhinkt, machen sie eines ganz gut: Nicht-weiße Charaktere.

Eine Studie der Malisa-Stiftung aus dem Jahr 2021 hat ergeben, das im Fernsehen immer noch 95% der Charaktere weiß sind. Obwohl nicht-weiße Menschen 10% der deutschen Bevölkerung ausmachen, sind es im Fernsehen nur 5%. Der Großteil der Charaktere ist immer noch weiß, cis, hetero, hat keine Behinderung und keinen Migrationshintergrund.

In Staffel 27 werden von 17 Hauptcharakteren, 7 als nicht weiß gelesen. Bei den erwachsenen Charakteren drei von 9. Es gibt also zwar immer noch mehr als weiß gelesene Charaktere als solche, die als nicht weiß gelesen werden, aber prozentual ausgedrückt sind bei den Schüler:innencharakteren 41,18% nicht weiß.

Bis auf die kurze Story mit Io und Joyce in Staffel 26 wird das aber nie angesprochen. Oft wird die Herkunft auch gar nicht oder nur kurz thematisiert - wir müssen nicht wissen, warum Leon und Charlotte als Geschwister unterschiedliche Hautfarben haben, um ihre Story zu verstehen.

Das hilft dabei, nicht weiße Lebensrealitäten zu normalisieren. Viel zu oft drehen sich Geschichten über nicht weiße Charaktere nämlich um die Tatsache, dass sie nicht weiß sind. Klar ist es wichtig, Rassismus zu thematisieren, wenn nicht weiße Charaktere aber nur Geschichten über Rassismus kriegen, hilft das auch nicht weiter, sondern trägt nur noch weiter zum Othering bei. Genauso wie Noah und Colins Storys zur Normalisierung von Queerness beiträgt, weil, im Gegensatz zu vielen anderen queeren Storys, ihr Problem nichts mit ihrer Queerness zu tun hat.

Zudem sind die nicht-weiß gelesenen Charaktere auch vollwertige Charaktere und nicht nur Token. Sie wurden also nicht nur aus dem Grund geschrieben, weil man unbedingt auch nicht weiße Charaktere haben wollte und das ist dann ihre komplette Persönlichkeit.

Yvonne Abele, ehemalige Produzentin von Schloss Einstein, hat zu diesen Thema auch mal einen Vortrag bei den Medientagen Mitteldeutschland gehalten, in dem sie u.a. erklärt hat, dass sie "colorblind" casten. Sie weisen Charakteren also nicht schon während der Konzipierung fest einer bestimmten Ethnizität zu, sondern sind flexibel. Wie man z.B. bei Massuda gesehen hat, deren Nachname von "Maalouf" zu "Phanit" geändert wurde. Klar haben sie wahrscheinlich bei einigen Charakteren (Tahmi bzw. ursprünglich ja Bijan oder Massuda) von Anfang an geplant, sie idealerweise mit nicht-weiss gelesenen Personen zu besetzen, aber sie lehnen Leute auch nicht ab, weil sie die "falsche" Ethnizität für eine Rolle haben - Annika war z.B. ursprünglich als leibliche Schwester von Badu geplant, wurde dann aber zur Stiefschwester umgeschrieben, weil beim Casting die Personen, die phänotypisch gepasst hätten, vom Spiel her nicht überzeugt haben.

1943 08 13 Ju 88 vs Wellington - Mark Postlethwaite

On 13 August 1943, Oberleutnant Dieter Meister of 13./KG 40, flying a Ju 88R-2 coded F8+NX, shot down a Wellington XIII of No 304 ‘Polish’ Sqn that was on sea patrol searching for U-boats in the Bay of Biscay. Twenty-four-year-old Meister had joined V./KG 40 from bomber training school in July 1942. Wellington HZ638, coded 2P, had taken off from its base at Davidstow Moor, in Cornwall, at 0936 hrs. Its crew of Flt Lt S Widanka, Plt Off S Kielan and Sgts W Pastwa, L Dangel, F Gorka and K Czarnecki were all posted missing.

The 13 August encounter was at least Meister’s second with the Poles of No 304 Sqn, for on 16 October 1942 his Ju 88C-6had been damaged by another of the unit’s Wellingtons, although he and his crew had scaped unhurt.

Serving in both 13. and15. Staffeln, Meister was awarded the Deutsches Kreuz in Gold on 17 October 1943. That same month V./KG 40 was redesignated I./ZG 1 and Meister wa sappointed Kapitän of 3. Staffel. He is believed to have been credited with ten victories by war’s end

1918 03 12 Lothar von Richthofen victories 28 and 29 - Mark Postlethwaite

On the morning of 12 March 1918, nine Bristol F2B fighter of No 61 Sqn, Royal Flying Corps, were intercepted by a flight of Fokker DrIs of Jasta 11, ... near Le Cateau. The triplanes were led by other than Manfred von Richthofen in DrI 152/17 accompanied by his brother Lothar in DrI 454/17 and Ltn Werner Steinhauser. At 1100 hrs the Fokkers stabbed into the formation Bristols. After watching his brother bring down one of the two-seaters, Lothar looked around for an opponent of his own:

' To that end there was one especially suited for me about 100 meters below the English squadron. I attacked him. I was flying ahead of my Staffel when I suddenly saw that I was surrounded by aircraft with English cockades. I made a long dive of about 100 meters in order to get out of that unpleasant company. One of them followed me down. At the same altitude, we flew toward one another, head-on. We approached each other with the great speed of over 400 km/h. Here, you must aim clean, otherwise you will get the worst of it.

' We rushed towards one another shooting. At the last moment I noticed I had hit him. A blazing aircraft whizzed by me. I pulled my machine around and made such a sharp turn that I was three-quarters on my back. A sea of fire in the form of an English airplane whistled right by me. The observer stood up and stared into the flames. Completely ablaze, the English machine made another turn. Both crewmen jumped out along the way.

In the running battle that followed, Lothar brought down another Bristol ten minutes later, and Steinhauser added one more to bring his personal tally to four. These victories contributed to a total of seven for the day by JG, the most legendary of all German fighter units of World War I
