Autobiography

Autobiography By: Jamielle S. Sumagui My name is Jamielle Sta. Maria Sumagui, but I personally don't like my name, which is why I prefer to be called by my nickname, which is "jaja." I was born on May 9th, 2005, in Bacoor, Cavite. My parents were Alvin Sumagui and Mary Jane Sumagui; my father is from Mendez, Cavite, and my mother is from Bulacan. We live in the city of Imus, where I spent my childhood and developed my personal growth. I have a brother named Ivlan Sumagui and a sister named Jannelle Sumagui, and I am the youngest in the family. When it comes to family relationships, I am not close to either of my parents; my mother works in Manila and resides there; she is only at home from Saturday to Monday, which means we only spend time with her on weekends. My father used to be a seaman, but he quit working, so he opened a sari-sari store in our home in Imus. He is always at home and is the one who takes care of us. But if you ask me who I am close to in my family, I will say my sister, even if we have a five-year age gap, we talk like we are on the same age. She knows and understands everything about me better than anybody else; we share the same mentality, and we have a lot in common. My sister is my spokesperson in life, as I am a very introverted and timid person. I always rely on and depend on her, and it's like she’s my savior in all aspects of my life. I feel like I can’t do things and live without her. I began studying at Prime Elementary School when I was three years old and later transferred to White Heather Montessori School, where I completed grades 1-4. After that, I relocated to St. Emilie Academy, where I completed my elementary education. I then relocated to Imus Unida Christian School in 2017, where I completed my whole high school career before graduating. After that, in 2021, I started my senior high school journey to Emilio Aguinaldo College in Cavite. My journey as a senior high school student was a rollercoaster ride because this is when I experienced, learned, and discovered many things. This is also when I see huge progress and improvements in me getting out of my comfort zone, and I finally get to express myself more when I am at school. I met a lot of people who greatly contributed to my improvements; they are the reason behind my little journey to get out of my shell. I used to have social anxiety and couldn’t interact with people very much, but as I gradually improved my social abilities, I learned to have the courage to interact with others. I can honestly say that I am a lot better now than I was before. I used to not talk for hours, but now I have learned to be conversational and communicate with others. And now, as a graduating student, my future plans are to achieve my life goals. This coming college, I intend to pursue a career as a flight attendant. Tourism is something I did not anticipate studying for college, but I believe it is where my heart belongs. I hope that during my college years, I will be able to meet new people who will have a big impact on me, as well as learn new things and grow in ways that will contribute to my success. I am a very introverted person. I also believe that I have a phlegmatic personality; phlegmatic people are usually calm and relaxed and very empathic and compassionate. I am a very calm and silent person who is highly observant. I may appear unconcerned about everything, but I always observe things around me and even notice small or unimportant details. I am also not good at expressing my emotions, which is why I constantly worry that many people will misinterpret me and see me negatively. I always have this poker face and serious face on, but that is simply natural to me.

Nagtext ka sakin sabi mo Tuesday 2/21/2023 magsamgyup kamo tayo sa SM North. Ayun nagtext ka sakin na kung ano plano ko sa Friday 2/24/2023 kasi sabi mo friday nalang kamo. Dumating ng friday pumunta ako sa baba ng office mo kasi wala kapang text baka busy ka, kaya pinuntahan nalang kita tapos biglang sabi mo hindi narin tuloy kasi marami kang aasikasuhin sa bahay niyo at may sakit si clyde. Sabi mo rin hindi ka rin kamo makakauwi bulacan pero nakita ko sa story mo kinabukasan 2/25/2023 umuwi ka. Ganun ka pa rin. Hindi tinutupad kung ano sinasabi mo. Masaya ka ba? Nageenjoy ka na alam mo sa mga ganyan mo sakin alam mong mahal parin kita alam mong umaasa parin ako. Hindi mo alam kung gaano ko sinasalo yung sarili ko sa sakit sa mga pinapakita mong insensivity mo. 2/24/2023 5:18PM nagstory ka sa instgram mo. 3 post sunod sunod na nagpadala si Boss pogi mo ng mcdo para sayo. “May Happy meal dun para maging happy ka” Nung mga oras na yun gusto ko ng mawala sa sakit kasi minsan hindi ko na kaya. Hindi ko na alam kung saan ko ilalagay yung sakit. Alam mo mula umpisa selos na selos ako sakanya, alam mong makikita ko yung post mo na yun. How can you be that insensitive? Alam mong sobrang nasasaktan na ko. Pero mas lalo mo pang binabaon yung sakit, alam mong may mga nakasaksak na sakin na kutsilyo pero mas lalo mo pang dinidiin. Hindi ko alam nasa loob ng isip mo kung bakit mo ginagawa sakin to. Kung gusto niyo isa’t isa bakit mo pa pinapakita sakin? Para malaman ko pa na masaya kana talaga na wala ako? Para talaga malaman ko na iba na ang gusto at mahal mo? Para ba tuluyan na akong mawala at hindi mo na makita? Kasi sa ginagawa mo nagiging effective. Biro mo pagkatapos ko makita yun, paano nung mga oras na blocked pa ako sayo? Ilang beses mo pa siya pinost? Ano ano pa mga nilagay mo sa post mo? Ano ano pang sweetness na pinapakita mo sa friends mo, mga ka-church mo kung ano kayo. Ano pa? Hindi ko rin alam kung sinasadya mo lahat ng to. Hindi ko alam kung gusto mo maramdaman ko lahat ng naramdaman mo nung nawala ako. Kasi maayos kana eh, hindi mo na iniisip yung nararamdaman ko lalo sa ginagawa mong actions. Matalino ka, alam mong nasasaktan na ko pero ginagawa mo parin. Marami akong text sayo na sobrang sakit na pero ang sagot mo ipagdadasal mo ako at tutulungan mo ako. Sa paanong paraan mo ako natutulungan? Samantalang ikaw nagsabi at nagtanong ka sakin kung ano pa maitutulong mo para maging maayos ako. Ang sabi ko yung sa paguusap lang natin sa megamall kasi inaasahan ko huli na yon dahil yun ang gusto mo tumigil na ko at huminto na diba? Pero pagkatapos nun, tinetext text mo parin ako minsan minsan pag gusto mo lang. Mangangamusta, magtatanong kung nasaan ako, magtatanong kung ano pwede kainan sa sta maria. Madalas wala man lang hi hello, direkta mo lang tatanong sakin. Pero lahat ng ito balewala kasi nagiging makasarili kana dahil alam mong mahal kita at nandito lang ako at totoo yon. Pero may pinagsamahan rin naman tayo, bakit mo ako ganito tratuhin? Pero sa tingin ko ginagawa mo lahat to’ kasi may iba kana, masaya kana, maayos kana. Sa madaling salita halatang wala ka ng pake sakit. Minsang habang umiiyak ako, tumatawa ako nababaliw na ako. Kasi naiisip lang ako ng taong to kapag gusto niya eh malinaw naman na hindi na niya ako kailangan sa buhay niya. Kung titingnan ilang beses siya sweet sayo? Magkasama pa kayo sa bahay, sakanya ka rin tuwing saturday at sunday sa bulacan, tinuturuan ka rin niya mag drive, hindi ko na alam yung iba. Boss pogi rin tawag mo sakanya tapos may emoticon with heart eyes pa ibig sabihin nun inlove ka diba? Siguro ngayon hindi kapa sigurado sakanya nagkakamabutihan palang siguro kayo kaya nilalaro laro mo pa ko kasi ayos lang naman sakin e. Kung saan ka magkakaron ng satisfaction kung saan ako mas masasaktan sige lang hinahayaan ko lang kasi eto yung gusto mo yung tumigil at mapagod ako at mas masaktan ako. Hindi ako nagrereply sa mga story mo kasi alam ko wala akong karapatan at alam ko kahit anong gawin ko siya at siya naman ang pipiliin mo. Never mo na ulit akp pipiliin pa halata naman. Halos lahat ng sabihin niya sayo sinusunod mo, magchurch ka, maghanap ka ng bahay para sainyo, gawin mo to, gawin mo yan, lahat ng sinasabi niya sinusunod mo. At hindi lang siya basta kaibigan kung ganun. Lalo may mga oras na kasama mo ako tapos tatawag siya, napaka sakit alam niya kung nasaan ka ano ginagawa mo updated kayo sa isa’t isa. Ganun ba magkaibigan lang? Alam mo sa sarili mo yan. Sana rin alam niya kung ano mga ginagawa mo sakin lately, sana maging honest ka sakanya, alam ko hindi mo siya sasaktan, kasi hindi ka niya sinaktan. Lalaki yun, stable sa buhay, magkasama na kayo sa bahay, maging official na kayo nalang hinihintay at sa gusto mong kasal. Siya na lahat. Tangina nakakainggit siya. Sana ako lahat ng yan pero putangina gago kasi ako. Sa lahat ng to, sana napapakita ko sayo na nandito parin ako pero malapit na ako bumitaw ng tuluyan gaya ng pangako ko sayo. Para maging malaya na kayong dalawa sa gusto niyo, malapit na magpapaubaya na ako. Para hindi ka na mahirapan. Pero ganun talaga, ang goal ko kung saan ka magiging masaya. Pero ayan kitang kita ko masaya ka sakanya, at hindi ka na magiging masaya sakin. Tama ka, masakit man, kaya naman natin mamili eh. Pero ako nalang kasi yung pumipili sayo, ako hindi mo na ako pipiliin. Magiging maayos rin ako, matagal tagal to kasi ikaw na talaga yung pangarap ko eh. Ikaw lang naman talaga. Ikaw lang talaga. Pero ayun, hindi na ako eh. At hinding hindi na magiging ako. Wag ka magalala sinasagad ko rin sarili ko inaabangan ko sa tuesday ulit sabi mo magkita tayo 2/28/2023. Tapos sinabi mo pa mag elyu sa March. Sa totoo lang hindi na ko naniniwala sa lahat kasi alam kong sabi mo lang lahat yan. Hindi mo alam para akong tanga araw araw naghihintay ako ng text mo, na baka maalala mo ulit ako, na baka kailanganin mo pa ko kahit trip mo nalang, kasi oo lang ako ng oo sayo sayo alam mong hindi ako papalag sa mga gusto mo. Sana napagiisin mo mabuti lahat ng to. Nagtext ka rin sakin ngayon, wala hi hello nagtanong ka kung saan meron may sizzling at sinagot naman kita. ARTICLE 172 OF THE FAMILY CODE OF THE PHILIPPINES

The first paragraph in Article 172 explain the filiation of legitimate children and it includes the following:

The record of birth appearing in the civil register or a final judgment;

An admission of legitimate filiation in a public document or a private handwritten instrument and signed by the parent concerned.

And the legitimate filiation shall be proved of the following:

The open and continuous possession of the status of a legitimate child; or

Any other means allowed by the Rules of Court and special laws.

CASE DIGEST

EUGENIO SAN JUAN GERONIMO, Petitioner, v. KAREN SANTOS, Respondent.

G.R. No. 197099, September 28, 2015

VILLARAMA, JR., J.:

FACTS: Eugenio and Emiliano Geronimo, the defendants, executed a document declaring themselves as the only heirs of spouses Rufino and Caridad Geronimo. Consequently, they took possession and were able to transfer the tax declaration of the subject property to their names.

Karen Santos, on the other hand, claims to be the only child of deceased Rufino and Caridad Geronimo. She filed a complaint for the annulment of document and recovery of the possession against the defendants, brothers of his father. She alleged that with the death of her parents, the property belonging to her parents was passed on to her by the law of intestacy.

The defendant denied the allegation that the plaintiff was the only child and sole heir of their brother stating that the deceased Rufino and Caridad were childless and took in as their ward Karen, the child of Caridad’s sister. To strengthen their defense, they claimed that the birth certificate of the plaintiff was a simulated document. The birth certificate had alterations as confirmed by an NSO representative.

They alleged that it is impossible for Rufino and Caridad to register the plaintiff in Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur because they never lived or sojourned in that place. Also, Caridad, an elementary teacher in Bulacan, never filed a maternity leave during the period of her service, as supported by a certification from the Schools Division Superintendent.

The RTC ruled that the respondent is a legitimate child of the putative parents. The trial court found that respondent’s filiation was duly established by the certificate of live birth which was presented in evidence. It dismissed the petitioners’ claim that the certificate was tampered. It further stated that even granting arguendo that the birth certificate is questionable, the filiation of respondent has already been sufficiently proven by evidence of her open and continuous possession of the status of a legitimate child under Article 172 of the Family Code.

On appeal, the Court of Appeals held that under Article 170, the action to impugn the legitimacy of the child must be reckoned from either of these two dates: the date the child was born to the mother during the marriage, or the date when the birth of such child was recorded in the civil registry. The appellate court found no evidence or admission that Caridad indeed gave birth to respondent on a specific date.

It further resolved that the birth certificate presented in this case does not qualify as the valid registration of birth in the civil register because it was not signed by the physician or midwife in attendance at the child’s birth or the parents of the newborn child, contrary to what the law required. However, the CA ultimately ruled that the respondent was able to prove her filiation via open and continuous possession of the status of a legitimate child as supported by secondary evidence presented.

The evidence consists of the following: (1) the plaintiff was allowed by her putative parents to bear their family name Geronimo; (2) they supported her and sent her to school paying for her tuition and other school expenses; (3) she was the beneficiary of the burial benefits of Caridad before the GSIS; (4) after the death of Rufino, Caridad applied for and was appointed legal guardian of the person and property of the plaintiff from the estate left by Rufino; and (5) both Caridad and the plaintiff executed an extrajudicial settlement of the estate of Rufino on the basis of the fact that they are both the legal heirs of the deceased.

ISSUE: Whether or not the Court of Appeals erred in allowing the introduction of secondary evidence and rendered judgement notwithstanding the existence of primary evidence of birth certificate.

RULING: No. Secondary evidence may be admitted only in a direct action under Article 172 because the said provision of law is meant to be instituted as a separate action, and proof of filiation cannot be raised as a collateral issue as in the instant case which is an action for annulment of document and recovery of possession. However, this rule is applicable only to actions where the legitimacy or illegitimacy of a child is at issue.

In the case at bar, filiation is not an issue. What petitioner alleges is that the respondent is not a child of the deceased spouses at all. Thus, both the RTC and the Court of Appeals correctly admitted secondary evidence similar to the proof admissible under Art. 172 of the Family Code.

However, the Supreme Court ruled that the lower court’s declaration that the respondent is a legitimate child and sole heir of the deceased spouses is based on misapprehension of facts. The irregularities consisting of the superimposed entries on the date of birth and the name of the informant made the document questionable, as supported by the corroborating testimony of the NSO representative. In addition, even the respondent herself did not offer any evidence to explain such irregularities. These irregularities and the totality of the circumstances surrounding the alleged birth of respondent are sufficient to overthrow the presumption of regularity attached to the respondent’s birth.

With the declaration that the birth certificate is a nullity or falsity ruled then the respondent is not the child of Rufino, and therefore not entitled to inherit from the estate.

Pagkauwi ko, tinype ko agad to dito kasi baka makalimutan ko pa. I really need this reminder dahil ligaw na bala sakin ung sinabi ni Fr. na marami sa katoliko ang masungit. Guilty here. 😆

The True to Life-Darna

Clothed in the scent of the swan and capybara. The sun sitting in the sky sounds like crackling on the earth when Angelica Locsin Colmenares shine from the heavens blue on April 23, 1985 in Sta. Maria Bulacan, the land of superheroes that don't need to wear cape to be called heroes.

In the beat of acceptance, she is a Christian by heart and part of Muslim Royal blood in the shimmered surface of Lake Lanao. The distant tingle of a kulintang grown by her mother, Emma Colmenares who's adopted by a glamorous princess. There can be no goodbye for them, the connection still lives on although they're far to each other at the starting life point of a fourteen year old Angel. Since then she lived on with the unconditional love of her father who's name is Angelo Colmenares. Her human calculator, strength and hands to count on freely as provider.

Education is a gift that allows everyone to travel the mind and look beyond the world. Through the tides and stones that life took her to different places, she remembers who she is a humble student of Saint James College of Quezon City. And finished her secondary education at the oldest existing university in Asia, University of Sto. Tomas. In the year 2007 of August, she attended a short-course of fashion designing to be able to voice out a personality without saying a thing at Central Saint Martin’s College of Arts and Design at the place of Big Ben.

In the summer age of her teenage years, the vessel of her hearts never left the river that floated her beauty. Her splendid nose and eyes, into sun and honey time of her lips, no questions to drop she was unpredictably discovered roaming inside a shopping center by a talent scout in Quezon City instead of attending to school. Much control over life— one bump in the road won't stop her journey to explore. She auditioned for several commercials and supposed to be member of Star Circle Batch 9 in the network of ABS-CBN. However, she failed to commit her contract signing due to his father's rejection of the idea she's going to enter a publicly figure. Sometimes it takes an overwhelming breakdown to make an undeniable breakthrough, and so she did. She became a glittering star of GMA Artist Center. And for the longest time she's been walking alone, it's an open door to be included in the teen-oriented TV Show, Click and Ang Ibigin Ay Ikaw.

She waited her appearance in the reveries of the day, and it was like a pollen in spring. By the wind she carried away and far. After talking about Television series, people don't forget how movie films make them feel. Angel's first movie was in 2002 through Ping Lacson Supercop, wherein she played the role of a Young Robina Gokongwei. Then, Mano po 2 in the year 2003. Next is the teen-oriented movie Kuya in 2004, as well as the comedy film Singles. In addition, she starred in the drama Mano po III: My Love and the horrible film Sigaw which are both an entry to the 2004 Manila Film Festival.

Angel Locsin pour her energy and love into things that delight her heart and soul. In the moonlight, when day turns to night, and when the moon whisper to the starts, come to me. August 2004 looked across the road, while waiting to take it leads when it's her turn. A bird that calls out in rejoice, lifts its feather through the eyes of spectators. Indeed, fantasy-theme took the people's mind out of reality, wherein Angel Locsin portrayed the character "Alwina" alongside to the famous actor, Richard Gutierrez. They played a quantum leap through the television series Mulawin. The show was a huge victory and received its lofty ratings until to its end on March, 2005.

In the year 2005, the romantic film Let the Love Begin, released under the GMA network. She and Richard Gutierrez replayed their roles as Alwina and Aguiluz in the movie adaptation of Mulawin series, which is an entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival.

Created a charming atmosphere with a glowing cosmos. No where to be hidden, following Angel Locsin's success of Mulawin. On the same year, another fiction television series— she was cast in the title role in one of the most iconic hero in the Philippines, Darna. The show was also well received by the general audience, receiving extremely high ratings and breaking records set by her prior television show. Darna's pilot week average is 50.08 percent, with 52.1 percent being the highest and 33.3 percent being the lowest.

Indeed, a real life Darna. Yet she doesn't need to channel it. She's consistently helping the Gabriela Party list and many other Children Foundations in the country. In fact, April 23, 2007, she celebrated her birthday with the Gabriela— a political-sector party list that supports women and less fortunate children.

A great chemistry love team she made with Richard Gutierrez, they played more mature roles in the romantic drama, The Promise in 2007. Then in the same year, it followed by her own film entitled Angels, showed in theaters.

To see the world, not in the immensity of it, but in the little things that go unnoticed. The things that made Angel feel present and loved. She's the rare and the good kind, for she is the one who nurture the life. A steady soul for uncertain adventure, a mind filled with too many passions and dreams. An eye that refuses to see failure, and hands that sculpt the fantasies where Majika exist. Another television series of Angel together with Dennis Trillo, was played from March to September, in the year 2006. Angel is Sabrina, a seemingly ordinary woman who lived in the world of mortals without prior knowledge that she's destined to become the most compelling magician. After that, she was cast in the Asian treasures, an adventure quest that face perils as they seek hidden gems. In the Name of Love, Locsin's 2011 drama film featuring Aga Muhlach, received rave reviews. Her performance earned her numerous awards, including the Star Award for Movies for Movie Actress of the Year, the Gawad PASADO Award for Pinakapasadong Aktres, and a FAMAS Award nomination for best actress.

She debuted in the romantic comedy film Unofficially Yours with John Lloyd Cruz in 2012, and then in the drama film One More Try with Dingdong Dantes and Angelica Panganiban, which was Star Cinema's entry to the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival. Film reviewers and media people lauded Locsin's performance in the latter, earning her the Star Award for Movies for Movie Actress of the Year for the second year in a row, the FAMAS Award for Best Actress, and the Film Academy of the Philippines Award for Best Actress.

Since in late 2015, Angel revealed that she's been suffering from a rare condition called "bulging disc injury." And underwent to a surgery repaired of her spine. One of the side effects of the legal drugs she's taking in are weight gain. With no options, she can't stop her medication since it will be going to affect her life. While the ABS-CBN Network took pain to explain that Angel is no longer allowed to do strenuous physical activities due to this spine injury caused by various roles with intensive physical training. In August 2017, a dating rumors sparked between Angel Locsin and Neil Arce, a professional poker player champion in 2009 Asian Poker Tour Philippines and a Filipino film producer. Neil appeared in Angel's Instagram profile during an opening of a dermatology clinic. Yet in September Angel confirmed that she was exclusively dating Neil but not yet in a relationship status. They both attended Anne Curtis and Erwan Heussaff wedding in New Zealand. In one of Angel's post, she wrote, "Anydau spent with you is my favorite day." that tagged Neil.

With 8 years of friendship, carefully holding each other's heart. They both know what they have gone through. Yet, they have no idea that this a start of a lifetime to fall in love with each other. He became the guy who can charm Angel across the room with just smile. And then, Angel found herself entwined with Neil’s strings and publicly announced their relationship in February 2018. It continued to bloom, as they traveled to several countries together. After that, in June 2019, proudly they want to extend to the next level, to allow both of themselves to take good care of each other’s for the rest of their lives, both announced that they were engaged.

Life throws unexpected events. Just like in 2020, Angel's wedding had to delay due to COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of planning to one of the most memorable moment of their lives, they poured themselves with relief operations during the pandemic and other disasters. However, in April 2020 when they launched the #UniTENTweStandPH a fundraising campaign to address the issue of hospitals overcrowding due to abundant cases of COVID-19. But this experience empowered more their relationship. Even when there are things that Angel and his fiancée disagree, they still both end up in ways how to fix it. Additionally, they both decided to start a YouTube channel wherein they vlog about their daily lives, in September 2020.

Marriage works on give and take, to trust each other’s. Not measured in days or the changing of seasons. Love springs as lightly as the lovely rose upon the brier. Angel and Neil announced on August 7, 2021 their marriage, and moved to a new home.

With no doubt, Angel Locsin, holds a special place in many Filipino hearts. Beyond her various television series and films, called as the real life Darna, and also a philanthropist who's behind several causes of relief efforts for typhoon victims, Taal eruption, and COVID-19 patients. No wonder why she's a hero that don't need to wear capes. Despite the fact that she has gained weight in her 30s, she is uninterested with concealing her form beneath baggy attire. Indeed, her viral photographs from June 2020, in which she appears to be curvier while filming her docu-reality show Iba 'Yan, captivated netizens with her unapologetic confidence in her figure.

She's also a loving daughter. Angelo Colmenares, her father, has played a key role in shaping her into the woman she is today. And she never forgets to express her gratitude for her father, with whom she has shared her life since she was 14.

Angel was advocating for women's empowerment. Inspired by leaders such as the late Gina Lopez and Mother Teresa, Angel has been vocal about the issues surrounding women today such as gender-based stereotypes and violence. There is a stigma, which people inherited unconsciously from society on how women should behave, yet she expressed disappointment toward these negative connotations to women who tend to display a strong personality.

A true-blue philanthropist, Angel's charity and advocacy are not a one-off contribution, but in fact she's a consistent Angel, a hero since 2009. From typhoon Ondoy and Pepeng, through the Marawi siege in 2017. She flew to the war-torn city to visit the affected and distributed relief goods. She headed so many efforts with no surprise she named in Forbe's Asia'a Heroes Philanthropy list in 2019.
