Things to Do in Davao
Tumblr media
Davao City
Must try: skycycling at skyswing.
Museo Dabawenyo
Crocodile Park - try their crocodile dishes and crocodile ice cream!
Jack’s Ridge - city view
San Pedro Cathedral
Malagos Garden Resort
Magsaysay Fruit Stand & Bangkerohan Market - best places to buy fruits. Try durian and marang.
Aldevinco Shopping Center - best place to buy souvenirs.
Roxas Night Market - beside Aldevinco. Foodtrip!!! Nasa Roxas Ave din ang Lyndon’s Worst Ribs which is one of my fave.
Matina Town Square, Tagbuan, Bricklane, Stre3ts, Echelon, Zero82Lokal, Deq - for booze and music. Actually madami pang iba. Also, try Stre3ts’ Caramel Beer. Last order of alcoholic drinks 12am, the bars close at 2am. Tip: Start early! Lol.
Mount Apo - climbing the highest mountain is a must! I suggest to take the Sta Cruz trail.
River Rafting - a must try! Sobrang enjoy especially if you’re with your friends. Pero if solo traveler ka, I think you can join other groups. Click on the link to inquire.
Tumblr media
Samal Island
10mins away from the city.
Scuba diving - worth a try!
ATV Adventure - I haven’t tried this one yet pero for sure masaya to.
Climbing Puting Bato - you can also traverse to Canibad and take a dip after a tiring hours of climbing. Good for beginners. Don’t worry, madami nang signs dun for sure di kayo maliligaw. Okay na kahit walang guide.
Cliff Diving - Canibad & Sabang. Best time to dive is early in the morning. This is for the adventure junkies. I never had the courage to try this. Haha. Kaya hanggang snorkeling na lang ako which is nakakaaliw din.
Some Places/Resorts you can visit - Hagimit Falls,  Monfort Cave Bats, Secdea, Cavanico El Mari, Villa Amparo, Maxima Aqua Fun, and Isla Reta  - to name a few.
Tumblr media
BuDa (Bukidnon-Davao) Road
Almost 2hrs away from Davao.
Bemwa Farm
Epol Falls
Garden of Gethsemane
Seagull Mountain Resort
Sonnen Berg
Hills View
Highway81
Wild Berry
But I suggest to try yung advanced kasi di naman ganun kahirap.
So yan lang muna lahat. Sana may naitulong ako. Don’t hesitate to message me if may mga tanong pa kayo.
Hahahahaha

Davao City beefs up biosecurity measures vs. ASF
#PHnews: Davao City beefs up biosecurity measures vs. ASF
DAVAO CITY – Despite having zero African swine fever (ASF) cases, this city continues to strengthen its biosecurity measures to protect its hog population and ward off the severe viral disease now affecting domestic pigs.
Dr. Cerelyn Pinili, the head of the City Veterinary's Office (CVO), in a radio interview Tuesday said the measure would protect the city's hog industry as well as the consumers.
Pinili assured that the city government will not let its guard down and that they are strictly implementing the protocols against the entry of pork products to the city.
"Currently, there's none [reports of ASF]. We are trying our best that it will not enter Davao City. We are in close coordination with the Department of Agriculture (DA), the Bureau of Animal Industry so that ASF will not resurface here in Davao City," she added.
In addition to the strict implementation of animal control points, Pinili said her team is conducting education campaigns for backyard farmers on ASF and how to prevent their hogs from getting infected.
"We tell them to really implement their biosecurity measures. They should have footbaths, daily disinfection, and refrain from letting other people enter their farm," she said.
The last recorded case of ASF in the city was July 2020 in Lumiad, Paquibato District. Since then, the city has established Animal Control Points in Buda, Sirawan, Lasang, and Sta. Ana Wharf to make sure that no pork products without proper documentation will enter the city.
Pinili said the team assigned in control points are strictly requiring documents such as ASF certification from the DA, a veterinary health certificate issued by the provincial or private veterinarian, and shipping permit.
"We have received a lot of calls that our quarantine checkpoints are very strict, especially backyard raised hogs," she noted.
The first case of ASF in Davao City was recorded in February 2020 in Barangay Dominga and Lamanan, Calinan District where more than 2,000 hogs were depopulated. (PNA)

When in Davao (Part III)
Tumblr media
For Day 3, our next itinerary is in Samal Island. The three of us experienced body pain from our Water Rafting Adventure but it can’t stops us going to one of the most highlighted event of our trip. This is also our last day in Avida Towers and we hurriedly headed next in Sta Ana Wharf Port after we checked out.
Tumblr media
We decided to go in Talicud Island which is also part of Samal Island since we are longing for a cozy and less crowded place. We ride on a boat around 9:00 am and the island is only 45 minutes away from Davao City which cost Php 180 per person. From there, they dropped us in Isla Reta Beach Resort but we still followed our itinerary to stay in Dayang Beach Resort. We need to ride first on a Habal motorcycle going there for Php 150 each since we brought also our baggages.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
All our travels is worth it because of the jaw dropping view of the resort especially their white sand. It’s so tranquil and relaxing which reached our expectation. We chose to stay in their single huts which is Php 2,000 good for three persons. It has two beds (one double bed and one single bed), comfort room, and a balcony. They also have a reception area where you can dine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I suggest, if you want to book in Dayang Beach Resort — you must bring your own mineral water and foods to lessen your expense. Also, they doesn’t have direct water in shower/comfort room but they deliver gallons of water if you need for free. At night, there are instances of brownout due to shortage of electricity but it’s totally fine for us because the island helped us to release our stress. You can also connect with your family and friends; and stay updated with your social media accounts in the resort.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The next day, we waited for a boat again going back to the city. It is also our last day in Davao and we had our lunch in Dencia’s Restaurant to feed our hungry tummies. Also, before going back to Manila we make sure to buy pasalubong for our families and friends in Lola Abon’s and Apo ni Lola Durian Delicacies.
Our four day stay in Davao is very remarkable since it’s been so long since we had our vacation. Ofcourse, we enjoyed the sight, foods, culture and the warm welcome of Davaoeños on their visitors. Also, I was given a chance to spend time again with my travel buddies and good friends. I can’t wait to have another escapade and explore again the hidden paradise of our country!

7 Safe Travel Spots for Tourists in Mindanao
Because of the Marawi crisis, Mindanao lately went to the attention. While President Duterte still has to decide to choose whether extend martial law or not, this does not indicate that the whole island is not secure for tourists. In fact, Department of Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo said that despite the imposition of martial law, there are top tourist destinations worth visiting in Mindanao.
1. Samal Island
Tumblr media
Samal Island is the Philippines ' biggestresort city, with over 70 resorts surrounding its coastline. Samal Island can be reached from Davao by ferry from either Sta. Ana or Sasa Wharf as well as private boat and bus.
2. Mt. Apo
Tumblr media
Nothing beats the feeling of hiking up Mt. Apo, the country's largest mountain, for nature-loving visitors. You can see huge boulders near sulfur vents during the hike.  After trekking, you can cool down at the many of the hot springs at the foot of the mountain.
3. Museo ni Rizal sa Dapitan
Tumblr media
The museum is the same place where Rizal made a farm, and boys' dormitory while he spent four years in exile. The museum's e-learning room also allows visitors to appreciate online lessons from the National Historical Commission on Philippine History. The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

San Remegio (Alorro Beach Resort)
Travel blog by Fumchan!
I'll give you some info about my favorite spot.
San Remegio is the name of the baranggay where the resort we stayed is located at. Actually, there are 2 resorts in San Remegio; the Samalan Camp Park and Alorro Beach Resort. We pick the Alorro Beach since it is chreaper
There are a few things that you need to take note when you go here:
📌 San Remegio is an hour and 45min ride from Sasa Wharf . 45min if you're going to ride lantsa in Sta. Ana Wharf to Kaputian Wharf.
📌 I would highly suggest to take the Sta. Ana Wharf route if you plan to commute since it's cheaper compared to Sasa Wharf. But, of course, if you have your own vehicle, you need to take the Sasa Wharf Route
Fare:
80php- fare from Sta Ana Wharf to Kaputian
100-150php (depende sabot haha)- habal2 from Kaputian to San Remegio but usually we pay 100 each, If you are the only one who will ride you will pay 150. You would understand why once you experience the road going there ;)
If you missed the boat the next day, then you need to take the San Remegio to Peñaplata route which is quite expensive. 150/head if 2pax, and 300/ head for 1pax.
📌 Be prepared for a long and bumpy ride. Trust me, once you reach there, you would say that the ride is worth it. Haha.
📌 Setting expectations: Alorro Beach is a simple resort and that's why I love the place. To be honest, their cottages are mostly made in Nipa. There are new cottages as well, by the way. But, this place feels like you live like the locals because of the simplicity and serenity of the place.
📌 If you're into seafood, bring extra money because seafoods are sold cheap by the locals.
📌 Yes, there is a store in and outside the resort. Beers are sold almost the same price in Davao. #alakislife
📌 Enjoy the place and disconnect to the hustle and bustle of the city. May signal pa rin naman pero intermittent and no data connection, by the way.
📌Their rooms are affordable. You can relax and unwind.
For more info and reservation queries, you can always contact Alorro Beach Resort on their Facebook page. :) They have pictures for the cottages and their rates.

Davao City tightens animal quarantine measures
#PHnews: Davao City tightens animal quarantine measures
DAVAO CITY – To prevent another outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) here, the City Veterinarian Office (CVO) said checkpoints are operating 24/7 to prevent the smuggling of livestock amid the increasing demand during the Yuletide Season. In a statement on Thursday, CVO said quarantine measures are being tightened to prevent the repeat of any outbreak that occurred in February and March this year, including the latest case in Barangay Lumiad in July. “There is no let-up in Davao City’s animal quarantine measures as ASF cases were recorded in the nearby cities and provinces of Davao. We no longer allow the entry of swine from the Island Garden City of Samal and backyard hogs from Davao del Norte are also prohibited, but if it’s for commercial, documents must be presented at checkpoints,” CVO head, Dr. Cerelyn Pinili, was quoted as saying. Pinili said suppliers of livestock and pork products are required to present a negative test result for ASF, a veterinary health certificate, and a shipping permit when entering the city. She noted that commercial farms usually conduct ASF testing. Pinili said CVO's animal quarantine checkpoints located in barangays Lasang, Lacson, Buda, and Sirawan, as well as three other areas in Sasa and at the Sta. Ana Wharf are being assisted by the Task Force Davao (TFD) and the Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC). TFD and PSSCC's assistance, she said, recently resulted in the confiscation of livestock covered with coconut husks. (PNA)

Sta Ana Lighted Garden Park eyed as permanent attraction
Sta Ana Lighted Garden Park eyed as permanent attraction
DAVAO CITY, Marcch 7 (PIA)- The City Tourism Operations Office is eyeing to make the Light Garden Park at the Santa Ana wharf here in Davao City, a permanent attraction.
