And I think this subtle reference to the AIDS crisis is also about Will, and it means that this gay boy will be the "vaccine", the cure for the supernatural desease that is growing, spreading and killing so many people (Edit: The spreading of the UD into Hawkins can be seen as an allegory of a real desease, but in my opinion it's just an allegory. I don't think Will or Mike really have AIDS)

Them finding out Will's real role in the story, his importance, will help them save the world

Honestly, can this scene contain more topics than just one?

As expected, people are asking themselves what are Mike and Nancy discussing about.

Is it about (Holly's) disappearance or, could it be about the relationships (Jancy and Byler). Maybe it could even be Mike talking 'bout his and El's problems and what do you know, he could be coming out to Nancy!

My question is, can't they include everything I just mentioned in their talk?

Can't they just start a conversation about Holly's disappearance, reveal how guilty they feel, what they should've done to protect her and how they could rescue her. Talk about what she is going through. Then tie that with Will's disappearance, how he must've felt during it. How he could help due to his experience, and through the talk, Mike could reveal his guilt and the fear of losing him. Nancy could ask him where he stands with El rn, wanting to understand what her little brother is going through (considering they should reveal their fears so they don't get possessed) and he could talk about the problems, how he acted back in Lenora, what even happened there . He could bring up the bathtub speech which could then be connected to the painting and its own story.

It could have Mike talking about how it all makes him feel, which could again, lead to a potential coming out to Nancy. Nancy could also intertwine with the talk, bringing up the Jancy situation and they could end up joking 'bout the Byers/Wheelers love curse.

They could finally explore that siblings bond and catch a breath for a moment.

my thing abt byler was the time between the breakup and byler, some people would say it's forced and too fast

HOWEVER

why would el be at the school? is that the scene we heard abt? at the baseball field? which explains why she's walking alone too, since she just broke up

then she went back into hiding, to me she's with hopper hiding somewhere since March, and its not the police department looking for her, it is the government. that explains why they used that specific picture and the caption "who's really looking for Jane Hopper?" + the amount of money

don't know if i've mentioned before why i personally want s5 to be in winter so bad but it's not actually because of the sweaters and so on (even though i like sweaters i will admit, i get it)

i mainly want it because it'll make everything harder for the characters (sue me i like conflict okay, give them the worst possible season to be in during a collapse of the town infrastructure)

because having supernatural gates open in town is already bad enough, the threat of creatures crawling through the streets and a giant monster with a gaping mouth like Nancy describes is also bad. but now have all of that happen in Winter?

potential spoilers of there being posters about an energy conservation and a food drive just makes the apocalyptic situation due to the supernatural worse

now you're not just struggling with monsters, you have to worry about the temperature and energy and food. the town that's already started a religious fearmongering movement in s4 won't back down as easily if their living conditions are actively worsened by the fallout of s4 either. things aren't just going back to normal post the earthquake and people can't move on and forget

there's so much potential there to create more conflict that wouldn't be possible if it was nice and sunny and warm out

There are many important 12 mentions in The First Shadow

Henry vanished for 12 hours in Nevada (in 1954)

In S4 there's a reference to that, and it's not just about Henry, it's also connected to Will. In fact, the 12 hours mention is between the close up of the light bulb in El's closet, similar to the one in the Byers' shed, Will and the boys getting off the road, and Owens literally joking about working out of a shed.

Apparently, the key to decoding Henry's secret journal is Captain Midnight's Clock!

In S3 Dustin gives Will the Forever Clock and there's the name Williams on the grandfather clock.
