Saudi Arabia, Brazil eye stronger economic ties with joint projects

Following high-level meetings, trade relations between Saudi Arabia and Brazil have been lauded for their “remarkable development.”

The efforts of Saudi Arabia to strengthen economic ties were highlighted in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef engaged in discussions with Brazil’s Vice President and Minister of Development, Industry, Trade and Services Geraldo Alckmin.

According to a ministry release, the discussions focused on qualitative opportunities in the mining sector and the incentives provided by Saudi Arabia to facilitate business operations in the industrial investment environment. Both parties commended the positive advancements in economic and trade relations, which have led to significant joint projects in the industrial and mining sectors.

Saudi Arabia’s non-oil exports to Brazil have seen robust growth, increasing by 5.65 percent annually from 2018 to 2023. In 2023 alone, the Kingdom’s imports from Brazil totaled SR13 billion ($3.47 billion), while exports to Brazil exceeded SR3 billion.

Design verification

Through out this design processes we have tried to keep our user and system requirements in mind but haven't been doing a proper verification throughout our work so we put the following verification together.

Verification:

It is important for the third party to have read the verification sheet because it will enable them to develop the product further and use a high level of expertise where needed to achieve certain system requirements that were not achieved during the product design and prototyping by us. Providing a strong link between DESIGN INPUT and DESIGN OUTPUT process makes the product requirements achievable for the USER.

Functional:  

• SR1: The system shall provide simulated experiences from the perspective of the Child.  

The prototype is a recorded 360 video from the position of the ASD child and allows sensory issues to be experienced within the scenario.

• SR2: The system shall encompass sensory issues that an ASD child faces.

Within the prototype we have represented the different sensory issues an ASD child might face with options for audio & visual changes to the environment. This can be extended into the final design

• SR3: The system shall allow the teacher to experience the social difficulties faced by an ASD child.  

We have created a script that can be used for the final product that would represent the social challenges an ASD child might face.  

• SR4: The system shall allow the teachers to experience difficulties with communication. – Rationale: -The teacher may be unable to say certain words but still have to communicate in the simulation.

The concept for dialogue-based communication has been to allow the user to experience the potentially limited communication options that an ASD child might have.

• SR6: The system shall simulate realistic classroom environments.  

The prototype’s scenarios are recorded in an ongoing class room environment to represent it in a realistic manner. The final product may accompany the environment through high level animations and 3d modelling designs.

• SR7: The system shall provide role playing experiences.

The VR headset allows the user to go in the first-person view mode of a teacher or child

• SR8: The system shall provide simulated experiences from the perspective of the Teacher.  

The prototype’s scenario allows the user the see from the perspective of the teacher

• SR9: The system shall allow the teacher to experiment with different scenarios.  

We have included the foundations to include multiple scenarios within the simulation. We have included two perspectives with two scenarios that the teacher can experiment with.

• SR10: The system shall allow the teacher to communicate with the simulated ASD child.  

The concept for dialogue-based communication has been to allow the user to experience the potentially limited communication options that an ASD child might have

• SR13: The system shall simulate common autistic behaviours.

The prototype covers sensory issues of ASD rather than common behaviours. The final product shall be able to include other behaviours through deep study of ASD and use motion capture technology to implement such ASD simulation in the product

• SR14: The system shall simulate the signs of distress of an autistic child.  

The inclusion of arrows to direct the direction of view of the teacher can help to draw attention to the ASD child.  Motion capture tech will be used in the final product to capture facial expressions and body language.  

• SR15: The system shall provide information on various examples of ASD.

We have included targets to identify issues in the environment. In the final product the environment would be 3d model and hence selecting targets would be able to change the environments rather than just identification.

• SR19: The system prompts the teacher to identify positives behaviours from the child.  

NOT DONE but could be added with the addition of motion capture.

• SR20: The system shall provide feedback to the teacher.

In the prototype we have added a score system that can grade the teacher on their identification of distractions in the environment.

• SR21: The system shall educate about good communication between home and school.  

NOT DONE

• SR23: The system shall encompass 85% of the autism spectrum.

Not currently but we have included options to expand the spectrum with the foundations of audio and visual effect in the prototype.

• SR24: The system shall provide information related to the individual child.

The final product will have a cloud storage system on the HUB computer that would store different real life ASD profiles which shall provide related information to the user in experience  

– Rationale: -The system’s simulations will be based on multiple different cases so the teacher is able to learn to adapt what they learn from the system and apply it to any child with ASD they might encounter.

• SR25: The system shall be realistic to each individual child

In the prototype we have added the options to adjust the different sensory issues and the severity of each, to be able to adjust the simulation to make it more realistic to each individual child.

Result of Verification:

Comparing our system requirements to our final Prototype/embodiment of our concept, we can verify many of these requirements are met by our design. Not all the requirements are met by the prototype however those that aren’t have been captured through other design choices and process and recorded in our design journals. The ones we didn’t meet we found were unnecessary to meet the user requirements.

WEEK 4

System Requirements:

System requirement is based on the solutions that are provided by the system (product) to the user. More than one system requirements may be needed in order to fulfill the user requirement.

There are two types of system requirements (SR):

Functional and Non-Functional: 

The fulfilled user requirements done by the system is further categorized into functional and non-functional. Functional deals with the behavior of the system the way the user wants. Non-functional part deals with the characteristics of the system that affects the environment it is being used in. According to our specification requirement document, we came up with several SRs. Due to the nature of the product, that is more software based than having a physical meaning or presence in the freal world, our SR’s revolves around more functional requirements than non-functional requirements.

1. Functional: 

• SR1: The system shall provide simulated experiences from the perspective of the Child. 

• SR2: The system shall encompass sensory issues that an ASD child faces.

 • SR3: The system shall allow the teacher to experience the social difficulties faced by an ASD child.

 • SR4: The system shall allow the teachers to experience difficulties with communication. – Rationale: -The teacher may be unable to say certain words but still have to communicate in the simulation.

 • SR6: The system shall simulate realistic classroom environments. 

• SR7: The system shall provide role playing experiences. 

• SR8: The system shall provide simulated experiences from the perspective of the Teacher.

 • SR9: The system shall allow the teacher to experiment with different scenarios. 

• SR10: The system shall allow the teacher to communicate with the simulated ASD child.

 • SR5: The system shall be safe for the teacher. – Rational (extreme sensory simulations or communicational difficulties could physically or mental hurt the teacher during an extended period of time).

 • SR11: The system shall be easy to use for the teacher. 4 – Rationale: - Due the potential lack of expertise in technology the system requires to be accessible. 

• SR12: The system shall securely store information specific to the ASD child. – Rationale: - The system will have access to personal information of the child, hence the teacher must securely access that information. 

• SR16: The system’s simulations shall have a very low latency between the teachers input and the simulated ASD child’s reaction. 

• SR17: The system images must be of a resolution of at least 720p.Rationale: - The resolution needs to be high enough to capture facial expressions and body language.

 • SR22: The system shall have enough storage capacity to store all previously run simulations. – Rationale: -Outcomes and results need to be stored so there is information to base the feedback and map progress. 

• SR26: The system shall allow the teacher to manage the information that is accessible. – Rationale: -The system must not allow the teacher to get overwhelmed by the vast amount of information and should stagger the levels of detail, for a fluid learning experience
