Thursday update: Everyone is going strong!! 😍❤️ The larger girl will get her last dose of antibiotics tonight (Titan did last night) and her sister will in 2 more days (because maggots in addition to noisy breathing; it was suggested she have a different treatment regimen than her sister). The girls are hopefully going to get some votes on being named 🤞🏻🍀 The little one was transferred to someone who knows where there’s a colony for release yesterday and the three that are here are definitely improving by the day! 6-8am Monday morning update Titan has gained 5 grams & I might even believe was happy to see me for breakfast (he must have forgotten that brekky comes w/those nasty antibiotics at first lol) I’m glad to say he’s doing well imo We had a pair of girls come in Sunday and unfortunately the smaller female was struggling to suckle w/a bloody nose and upon examination did have maggots in an ear so everyone was immediately treated with capstar (precaution with other two because I didn’t find any but it’s got me paranoid) after we treated her ear. She’s currently being helped over the bump on her nose with some fluids but we’re hopeful that’s temporary for her The larger female was seemingly ok except for being very dehydrated and hungry. She’s already managed to add 3 grams! Unfortunately she and her sister both had noisy breathing during intake evaluations so both are also on antibiotics (but she does seem to be responding well). Galadriel isn’t up yet but is floating through life as usual lol Arwen has been seizure free for 9 days 🤞🏻🙏 (which is the longest since her first) so we are VERY hopeful that we might finally be on to something that will see her have a fulfilling and enjoyable future Finally I know I have like 15 people who I was talking to about all kinds of stuff: updates and answers to non emergencies like how to get started in rehab are definitely important and I’m sorry to anyone I disappeared mid conversation with, but I will be catching up on everything (barring another emergency) after school today and tomorrow! If you find a baby?

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE try to get help immediately and ONLY PROVIDE WARMTH!! ESPECIALLY if that baby is injured!!

The cold will literally kill these babies!!!

… but waiting a few hours to get proper feeding technique? It definitely won’t…

trigger warning: sad ending because old injures were too bad by then time he was able to make it in.

Nothing is sadder than the life that is snuffed out before it could even be lived no matter what you do…

This poor boy honestly didn't have a chance was the initial evaluation on intake but-as always- we tried EVERYTHING we know of...

Was ice block as an 11pm intake so he went to incubation IMMEDIATELY for like 30 minutes until I saw some movements

Could see maggots while observing during warming so did a hydration that included probiotics (as we Also wanted antibiotics asap for what was likely a cat caught baby based off what we saw of leg through incubator window) and waited 10 minutes for some to absorb and then immediately got capstar on board orally and removed all visible maggots as soon as he was warmed. Of course this meant the incubator itself was also re-sanitized and incubator bedding was fully changed. Then Started antibiotics immediately too (2 hydration for 30 minutes after capstar because afraid of overloading sensitive dehydrated body…)

Shortly after capstar he expelled live maggots during stimulation of one of this hydration feedings that were 15 minutes apart (directly feeding that included antibiotics)😭😭😭

I stayed by the incubator from 11pm until 8am ... we got him to pass skin Turgor finally so did 3/4 water and 1/4 formula feeding finally for 6am … but he had no stool activity since right after capstar… was hoping it was because nothing in so long…

But He didn’t want to take any of the hydration (like it tasted bad to him)😭😭

At 8 he started moving and I knew that we were in trouble unfortunately

I tried emergency triage to save him but unfortunately I lost him right at 8😭😭😭

Nothing is worse than the babies that don't make it and cleaning up after all the things that were meant to help but didn’t or the way my husband makes a little box for each 😭😭
